Programs to decide to not start nor can I stop.

I use an IBM ThinkCentre 8171 with Windows XP Professional, as my OS. I have frequent problems with programs do not trigger the short time (sometimes immediately) after that I start. After clicking to launch I get the hourglass and then the cursor returns to the arrow shape, but the program does not start. This happens every day I turn on my system for the first time to work. When I try to stop, he won't do it again. Now need me not less than 4 attempts to cut the current through surge protector before I can start the programs I need to run successfully. Even after I am able to run the program with some programs start, possibly to start no more programs or windows shut down. I must once more, turn off the power and then reconnect just to stop correctly.

How can I go on the correction of this frequent occurrence?

Hello

1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

Method 1.
I asked to put the computer to clean boot and then check if the program starts successfully as expected.
Reference:

Method 2.
For the shutdown problems see the steps listed in the article below.
Advanced Troubleshooting for shutdown problems in Windows XP
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/308029

Method 3.
So I ask you to install the Windows XP Service Pack 3 for stable performance.
It improves the reliability of Windows by installing updates to software - new drivers for hardware and much more.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

When I start most of the programs that is lock and on the taskbar it says program does not.  How can I stop this from happening?

    Original title: Windows Explorer

It is a good number with a boot drive (C:\ drive) that is cruelly of free space.

A healthy walk NEEDS 20% free space at least to work properly and prevent your suspension system.

Several causes are possible, but check your free space. Upgrade your hard drive if necessary.

    More RAM might help too.

Check these before you attempt to update or install anything more.

  • Windows XP does not start. Can I boot Windows from a disk so that I can recover the data?

Windows XP does not start. Can I boot Windows from a disk so that I can recover the data? This should be a CD because it doesn't have a floppy disk on my laptop drive. It is maybe that my hard drive has begun to fail and therefore cannot locate XP startup files. I can not start using one of the other methods of starting for example. Safe mode. If I can recover the data, I can then reload Windows and check the surface of the disc etc etc. Thank you all for your comments. Steve

Lately, I'm leaning toward the Hiren's BootCD you can download here:

    http://www.hirensbootcd.NET/

On the left, click on download, scroll down, choose the most recent version

The download link is a little hard to see.  It is at the bottom of the page, above the drop for older versions and looks like this (click this component to download the ZIP file):

Direct HTTP mirror + Torrent, Torrent Magnet

Click the "Live HTTP Mirror" link to start the download and save the ZIP file on your desktop of somewhere that you can remember.

The ZIP file is large, so the download will take probably some time to complete.  Then unzip the download to extract theHirens.BootCD.ISO file that will be used to create your new bootable CD.

Create a bootable CD. ISO file is not the same as simply copying the. File ISO onto a blank CD.  You must use software that includes how to burn a. ISO to a CD to create a bootable CD.

File ZIP the Hiren is the file BurnToCD.cmd that you can double-click to launch it.  The BurnToCD.cmd will use the file BurnCDCC.exe to burn the. ISO file onto a blank CD using your existing CD burner.  You can also use your own burning software as long as your software is able to create a bootable CD. ISO file.  More modern burning programs can create a bootable CD. ISO image.  Create a CD from an ISO image bootable is not the same as just the file on a CD burning.

If you need a simple and CD burning, this is a free software popular software:

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

It would be a good idea to test your new bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.
These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When starting on the Hiren's CD, you will see a menu of options.  Choose Mini XP.

It will appear while Windows is loading and you will be presented with a desktop computer that has the look and feel of the interface of Windows Explorer, you are already accustomed to using.  You will feel at home.

Using the Mini XP, you can access the Internet, maneuver around your system, copy files, replace the files, run the scans for malware, etc.  There are dozens of free and useful tools included in the CD that can be used to repair your system, or copy files to another device such as a USB device or an external drive if drop in trying to repair your system.

If you want to see if you can fix your system, describe what is happening when you try to start and to answer these questions:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

    Hello

As you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Firefox continues to try to update each time I open the browser, and it then puts a message saying update failed. It does this on both of my computers. The most recent version, the other does not. How can I stop Firefox to do this?

Firefox continues to try to update each time I open the browser, and it then puts a message saying update failed. It does this on both of my computers. We already have the latest version, the other does not. How can I stop Firefox to do this?

If there are problems with the implementation at day then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to remove all remaining files.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible.

    • Do NOT remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data, because all profile files will be deleted.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

    Hi all, I'm new here!

I am (excuse me: has) with a stream 7

A few days ago, I tried to install Windows 10 TP renovation 8.1 with Bing. If the touchscreen, WiFi and all the other stuff has failed. After I've got collegated by OTG, a keyboard and a mouse, that I managed to use Windows 10.

Try to install the drivers, my fault, I opened a .exe from Realtek (perhaps for audio), Tablet asked to reboot and after that I can't access Windows anymore.

I tried to start Windows 8.1 from a USB key, but it does not start, the same even if I disable secure boot.

With disabled bitlocker Windows gives this error

In the start option, I set these settings

I put the USB in this way:

If I turn on again the secure boot Windows gives this error (which 99% is caused by the .exe I installed):

    Hello

Do you have any other operating system installed on the computer?

The CD/DVD that you use to install Windows XP may be damaged and this is a possible reason why you cannot complete the installation of Windows XP.

You can check with another CD/DVD to install Windows XP. In the meantime, you can also check out this link that talks about the installation of Windows XP.

  • XP does not start! UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. STOP: 0X000000ED

When I start my Vaio laptop, I get a screen that tells me that Windows did not start successfully and gives me boot options (safe mode, etc.). I tried all the options with the same results: the Windows logo appears for about 5 seconds, then I get a blue screen for a fraction of a second, not long enough to read the error message, then the process starts all over again, again and again! I have not any hardware or software recently added. I followed these instructions for an answer to the same exact situation. (The first thing to do is to unplug all devices (printers, USB Hub, drives external, etc.) and try to start.  If this does not help your system and startup startup then pressing F8 as soon as it begins to start.  You will get the Windows startup options screen.  Select "Disable automatic restart in the event of system failure" and let restart.) I have nothing plugged into the laptop never and have not installed all the software on this subject recently. I get the error code is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. STOP: 0X000000ED (0X8733D030, 0X00000000, 0XC000009C, 0X00000000). Please advise me on what to do next. I have cruelly laptop! Thank you!

    Hello

    1. when exactly you receive the error?

    2. What is the full error message you get?

    3. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

You can perform a clean start and check if it helps.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

In addition, after you fix the problem, you can see step 7 above to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.
