As the t-4-2 say... try to convert the file to .wmv format
before importing, and maybe you'll get a better result.

The following freeware can convert:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Format Factory
http://www.pcfreetime.com/
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
all the boxes on the last screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
Open the program and choose an output folder...
(this is where you will find your files when they are
converted)

Drag and drop your clips .mpg video on the
main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

That should do it...

  • Error file corrupted or incompatible, cannot import files MP3 to Windows Movie Maker.

Original title: Amazon MP3 in Windows Movie Maker import problems.

Still have Windows XP.  Bought and download MP3s on Amazon, but is unable to import into Windows Movie Maker.  Says file corrupt (all of them) or is not compatible (MP3 should be).  I tried to convert it to WAV and WMA - still will not work.  Get desperate.  I would be very happy any help you could provide.  Thanks in advance.

Experienced same problem with Amazon MP3 downloads.  Could not bring to import into Movie Maker.  Read somewhere to convert WMA of the song, but couldn't find out how to do this.  I wanted to download 3rd party software.  Had already created the CD with the songs that I wanted to use mm.   Ripped from this CD for PC with Windows Media Player, which gives you option to change the format.  Changed the format to WMA format and then imported into Movie Maker.  After all, hope this time it helps you, too.

    Hi Michaelle1,

    ·          You did it of any material changes or software on the computer before this problem?

    ·          Do you have any third party media player and codec installed on your computer?

Temporarily uninstall them if you have any third-party media player installed on your computer and check if you are able to import files video .mov in Windows Movie Maker.

Secondly, if you have any third-party codec player installed temporarily uninstall them and check.

To uninstall codec and third-party multimedia player, you can use the Windows Cleanup utility.

Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this link:

Description of the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

Now, run the utility ("' start > all programs > Windows Installer Cleanup" "). In the list of programs displayed in the cleanup, select programs, and then click on remove. Quit out of cleaning.

Or uninstall programs feature & programs in Control Panel.

  • Problem importing mpeg in windows movie maker 6

    Hello
I know that this seems to be a repetitive theme but this is: my windows Movie Maker 6 in my laptop computer won't import mpeg (I use vista)... my WMM on my machine from office at will (I use XP)

Here's the story; I have a canon vixia HF11 which gives me "m2ts" files that used import into WMM... so I found a cheat... I just change the file ext 'MPEG' and that it is important to the former WMM (XP). These "MPEG" do change well in the WMM so I convert them to wmv for editing as I want.

When I do the same thing on the laptop (vista) the 'new' mpeg file will not import to the WMM as it does on the XP machine. (However, it will play in windows media player)

the bottom line: is there a way to make the most recent WMM do the same thing as the old?

If not, is there a simple free converter that will convert my files "m2ts" to something that will work in the most recent WMM?... I already spent a lot of money on this machine and I just want something simple.

any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Thanks for the help that is going

Now, I know the problem is the movie maker (version 6) itself. After doing a little more looking around, I discovered that if I install wmm 2.6 (which was made for vista machines that could not handle wmm 6. I did it and everything works fine now. apparently the wmm 6 (vista) does not have certain things the same as the older 2.1 (XP).)

I'm in place and Rollin' now! Thanks again!

  • Amazon MP3 download does not work on Windows Movie Maker

My downloaded files before Amazon work very well, but I have downloaded a few today and tried to drop them into WMM and he gave me a generic message saying: could not be imported. I searched these cards, but suggestions have been 2009, and links for the "fixes" did not work. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Best bet would be IMHO to convert MP3 files to
the format WMA before you import into Movie Maker.

Maybe the following freeware converter would be
    be worth a try:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Free Mp3 Wma Converter
    http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
(Mp3, Wma, Ogg, Aac, M4a, Ac3, Ape, Flac, Wav)
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can
Uncheck offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you
may want to uncheck the CD Ripper and the Easy
    MP3 Cutter)

After installing the program... open and drag and drop
your MP3 files on the main screen...

Choose a backup folder (path of output). Or just leave...
"Save to the directory the file" checked and the new
files will be saved in the folder with MP3 files.

    Choose a format... WMA.

    Left, click Convert.

In some cases, a file with a file type that Windows Movie Maker does not support may cause Windows Movie Maker stops responding. This can be caused by incompatible video filters. You can verify what filters are installed and force Windows Movie Maker to avoid loading specific filters by restarting simply Windows Movie Maker.

    Help, please.

The two Windows Movie Maker DVD Maker & allow me to import .avi files I ask, but then I get a message that the program has stopped working. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and I a novice in computer science.

    Thank you.

    Tommy

    Hello

    ·        Have you been able to import before avi files to your Windows movie maker and the creation of DVD?

    ·        You are able to import another file without any problem format?

Try to import another file type (format) and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

Damaged codec is often a cause of crashes with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker.

If possible, use a program to convert your Windows Media movies first and then try to import it.

    Step 2:

If the movie maker was working properly before, I suggest you to reset the windows movie maker settings. Follow the steps in the article mentioned below.

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    1. This only happens with a particular file type?

This seems to be a codec problem. Some files supported by Windows movie maker again you will need to install a codec before you can use the files in Windows Movie Maker.

You can use your favorite search engine to download and install a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • Torrent video plays fine in Windows Media Player, but only audio in Windows Movie Maker?

I downloaded a video torrent on my Windows Vista laptop. When I went to play in Windows Media Player, it works fine. However, when I try to play it on Windows Movie Maker, I can place only the file in the audio section / music, even if it is listed as a .avi file, when I import the file and drag it on the timeline. There is no red X or any sign of a problem with the actual file. When I go to preview, I get only a black screen, as expected when playing audio files. I checked super files supported for Windows Movie Maker, and .avi is supposed to be a supported video format.

I've downloaded xvid on my computer and it is before I even started with torrents. I know that this translates to the game in Windows Media Player.

I tried to download the same different torrents and I get the same problem each time a different torrent site, so I know that's not the real torrent.

I went to tools > Options and unchecked the box I had, which was the AVI decompressor, and the problem persists.

I don't want to convert the video file, unless it is absolutely necessary. If I need to download something, I will do, as long as you point me in the right direction.

I ask this question because I see only problems with the .avi Windows Media Player files, and I want to edit the file to make a music video.

    Any help is appreciated!

It turns out that the only way to solve my problem was to download Windows Movie Maker 2.6. Now, I can actually edit with ease and use the original .avi file without problem. I still don't know why I had so much trouble with the version that came with my laptop, but now it's the only solution that has actually produced results.

  • Windows Movie Maker: I can't complete my film

I'm pretty computer savvy, but could not understand this problem. I got a new computer which is Windows 7. Windows Movie Maker was not about it, so I downloaded the free version of Windows Movie Maker 2.6. It worked fine for awhile and I recently did a short video successfully without any problems. Until a few days ago when I tried to finish another movie and save it on my computer, it won't in a movie. I tried all the different film settings to save my movie about the file size, quality, etc., and yet, it will not save. I get the same error message stating "unable to complete the Save Movie Wizard. Your film is not properly registered. This project contains files which are lacking or which have been modified after importation sources. Your project cannot be saved as a movie until the source files have been located or deleted from the project. "I checked that all the different files where not moved or changed on my computer, they were where they were when I made the film. I also tried to save my film previously saved successfully to the movies again to make sure that he had nothing to do with the current files and it wouldn't save. I tried to read single movie files, which are in the film, apart from Movie Maker, and they play very well.  I have a lot of space on the hard disk on my computer to save on. I don't know what the problem is. My computer model and manufacturer is a Dell Inspiron if that makes a difference.

I'd appreciate any help what so ever to solve this problem.
    Thank you, Shelly :)

Later came across the same problem when recording as "high definition (720 p). But re - start Movie Maker solved the problem. Definitely seems a problem of memory [leak].
