Provisioning of related clones - "Customizing (Missing)."

We have recently improved our vCenter Server 4.1 and installed SRM. We lack View 4.6.

Whenever the commissioning of the new linked clones, the virtual machine is created and view reports the virtual machine as a problem of office with "Customizing (Missing)." The virtual machine is clearly visible in the vSphere Client. Composer continues to ignore missing desktop and create another, until it reaches the max for all pools.

No idea what is happening here?

Hello

Have you tried to create this pool or with the same names before naming convention?

If you can, I would try to check the composer database to see if its confusion between your names and therefore not entirely of their creation.

This link will help to enter the ADAM / composer DBs:

And as mittim said, newspapers would probably help

    Can someone help me please understand the process of correction of gold 'Parent Image' and then recompose the clones.

    It's my understanding:

    -> Image gold

    Snap Shot 1. ->

    Office related Clone pool.

    To apply software patches, patch the Image I gold and then create a new snap shot:

    -> Image gold

    Snap Shot 1. ->

    Office-> linked Clone pool

    Snap Shot 2. -> Pool re - dial from this snapshot to give:

    -> Image gold

    Snap Shot 1. ->

    Snap Shot 2->

    Linked Clone desktops.

    Can I then just delete or remove the Snap Shot 1?

    Fix. If he is no longer in use, and you don't think you need to go back to the old image, you can remove the snapshot.

  • Mobile related clones of Local storage

    Hello

    My Ministry is currently upgrading to 5 and 5 view vSphere.  We have several clone linked to local storage pools.  I want to spend the pools to another host to upgrade hypervisor of the host, as well as to modernize (possibly) agent of the pool, the hardware and vmware tools.  From what I remember, in order to go to the pool, I would have to recompose the pool on the other hosts/data store, but for some reason, when I did a series of tests, the pool will not move.

    Here's what I'm trying to do:

    • I have a pool of clone related with discs persistent (dedicated assignment) to host A.  Host A has warehouses of local data A1 and A2.  The replica is on A1, and the deltas are on A2. The persistent drive is on storing shared, I'll call S1.
    • I want the pool to host B, which has a similar structure.  It has warehouses of local data B1 and B2.  Drives P'd stay S1, the replica & deltas being on B1 and B2, respectively.
    • Host A and B belong to the same cluster. S1 is visilble for both hosts.

    For my tests, I did the following:

    • I created a test tank with 1 vm matching the description of the pool above.
    • I connected to the virtual computer and made some changes, so I could confirm that drive-p has been restored after the reconstruction.
    • I created a new snapshot of the VM parent (with minor changes to the system so I could it ID).
    • I connected on the administrator of the view, the pool of test, went to Edit-> settings of Vcenter and B1 and B2 selected data warehouses.  I deselected A1 and A2.
    • I saved the settings and then reconstructed the pool with the new snapshot of the VM parent.

    When I did, the operation recompose exploded in vsphere.  A new replica was made, and the former has been removed.  I was able to connect to the virtual computer again.

    However, when I checked the settings, the virtual machine always works on host A, with A1 and A2 data warehouses.  I checked the settings in the view admin console and confirmed that B1 and B2 have been selected for the pool.  ! And A2 were not.

    I tried again with a different VM, not just a different look.  I got the same results.  The operation recompose arrives, but the pool remains on the host original/data warehouses.

    No idea what I am doing wrong?  I looked in the community pages, and that's generally what I have seen as much as the recommended method to move the clones.  A post said to select new data stores in the recompose Wizard, but I do not see this option when I dial my pool.  I guess it is because this post was for an older version of the view.

    My environment is:

    Guest - ESX4.1

    View 5 connection to the server

    VCenter 5.0

    SMV w / agent of 4.6 and material v7

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Recompose to the data store Local of ESX is not recommended and not supported.

    But there is an easier way because your persistent drives on the shared storage

    Here is the way how to do it.

    Call us your original pool as pool 1. Pool-1 Replical will be in the Local 1, delta on the data store 2 local data store and persistentd disks shared datastore 1

    Create a new Pool in home 2 from the same structure in host 1 (even the pool size too) call this hen his 2. Create this pool on demand provisioning

    Remove the pool 1 archiving his persistent records

    go to page persistent drives, go to page edit separated each drive persistent, change the last 'pool' pool-2

    now select all persistent disks and click on rebuild

    all virtual machines will be recreated in the pool - 2

    You can also try, first remove the pool-1 and create a pool in 2 host in the same name "pool-1' and recreate the disks persistent withour edit.,-that, you really have to try." but the above solution works perfectly

  • Conflict related clones Horizon 7 MAC address

    Hello

    I'm trying to make some clones related to VM of my Master, after I do it all the Vm are having the same Mac. How do you do that?

    , I can't script so it's a no go. Is there an Option I don't see? Why is make you it an option to clone when the Horizon cannot even change the Mac automaticlly

    Goodbye, Tutti

    Any chance your parents VM has a static MAC / manuals that are configured for the network adapter in the virtual machine settings? This would certainly explain this behavior.

    In case it is, change it to automatic, start your VM parent to check that everything works as planned, firm, create a wink and then re-create your pointing to the new snapshot pool or do a Redial on existing operation.

    I hope this helps.

  • Where to find the IaaS __Clone_SnapshotId used on plans related clone in the vRA?

    Hi guys,.

    When you create linked clone plans IaaS that iaas will create an entity of VirtualMachineTemplateProperties with the __Clone_SnapshotId PropertyName and PropertyValue of let's say 6.

    This id is used to identify what snapshot to use for the linked clone one can be found in the database of IaaS. However: I can't say this number (6) where in vSphere.

    If the id of the snapshot in vCenter looking then it is, for example, snapshot-7380. Is there a kind of happening of mapping in vRA IaaS between vSphere snapshot ID and the ID snapshot of IaaS? How to get the instant correct ID for IaaS?

    Good so I finally tracked. It looks vRA IAAS using the id of snapshotTree for the clone-related references. If you have access to the VC:VirtualMachineSnapshot you can find the id like this:

    //snap is the provided VC:VirtualMachineSnapshot you want to use as linked clone reference
    var vm = snap.vm;
    var id = snap.id;
    function findSnap(snapTrees, snapId)
    {
      System.log("Searching SnapshotTree for id '" + snapId + "'...");
      for each(snapTree in snapTrees)
      {
      System.log("Checking snapTree '" + snapTree.id + "' with id '" + snapTree.snapshot.id + "'...");
      if(snapTree.snapshot.id == snapId)
      {
      System.log("Found matching snapshot! SnapTree id is: '" + snapTree.id + "'.")
      return snapTree.id;
      }
      else
      {
      var childSnaps = snapTree.childSnapshotList;
      if(childSnaps.length > 0)
      {
      System.log("Checking children...");
      return findSnap(childSnaps, snapId);
      }
      }
      }
      return null;
    }

    // Get the id like this
    var snapTreeId = findSnap(vm.snapshot.rootSnapshotList, id);

    Hope someone saves some time.

  • Discover related Clones gel icons

    Hello world.

    I have a bit of a dilemma.  I have a few desktop computers running that linked clones, 4 to be exact. I have recently started to experience something unusual.  Office of linked clone icons freeze at random times.  The icons are there but not doing anything when you click it.  The rest of the Office works very well, and if I use the start menu, I can browse programs and launch what I installed.

    If I reboot or simply start explorer.exe everything works again, but of course after a while, I have the same problem.

    Any ideas on what could be the cause?  It is to see the version 5.2 and I'm running the clones related to a Nutanix storage device and they were created using the plugin VAAI.

    Thanks for your help!

    Totally forgot to update this.  It turns out that the question had to do with hardware obsolete vm.  We have updated to vmx - 09 and everything seems to be ok now.

  • Questions of design related-Clone

    Hello world

    I have a few questions regarding best practices for the design of a display environment that allows to use linked clones. In my scenario, I'm targeting two departments for a test pilot. The applications they use are similar, what is different is the shortcuts of the browser that would be generally install on their physical desktop deployment of the machine. I would rather them on one parent VM, so that they are not lost during a refresh. My question is, guys/ladies normally create a VM parent for each Department, or you just make a statue, take a snapshot for an apps to departments, and then revert to the original install different applications and then take another cliché?

    My second question is about snapshots. If I plan to not make use of WSUS and install the updates on the parent VM and then recompose (to keep the smaller delta records) it is common to start initial snapshot by an anchor, then once you install new ms updates take an another snapshop... and then once you confirm that everything works correctly You can delete the original snapshot of base? I'm still new to vsphere and instant, so I just need to better understand

    As always, thank you

    Mike

    I think your best bet is to integrate as much as possible in your VM base.  This way you can patch the VM basis and then create new snapshots for each pool.   The problem here and I speak from experience, is that when your snapshot of pool turns is so different from the base image it is simply easier to patch this particular snapshot and then create the new snapshot.   Then you have a problem you describe where you can return each snapshot and install the updates.

    If you want to have a parent VM for each Department and then use a provisioning that will reduce your wasted space.    Also remember that you can use the same snapshot to different pools so if two departments use the same applications then you can use this snapshot for both.

  • Error in deployment - related Clones

    Running ESX 3.5 update 4, see the version 3.1.2.

    I have the problem next, when I try to configure the linked clones, creating just 5 computers desktop.

    Error provisioning9/21/09 20:36:19 CEST: not enough disk space to set up new desktop computers. Space free existing is reserved for the growth of the virtual machines already placed on the data store. Please allocate more space for new virtual machines or storage approve change option selected for the data store

    Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem?  I can create 20 clones not related very well, so space should not be a problem.

    Thank you!

    Stop on error - fake provisining

    Do this settings and check... I had the same problem... it comes to calculation of free space...

    required free space is not available means after creating virtual machines need more free space...

    Just check... and confirm the back...

  • Related clones - they are destroyed once the user disconnects?

    Hello

    I was wondering if install you Clones related, are they dynamically created and destroyed as users connect and disconnect or stay around and take a storage space?

    Thank you

    HCC says:

    One thing I'm a little surprised, it seems that the clones take about 1 GB of space in my case as I put 512 MB of RAM and then use also 384 MB or space for something else.  The other thing, that I'm surprised is the amount of storage required for the deployment of this linked clone.  Basically you need to Parent virtual machine with snapshots and basically a duplicate of this one folder called something like «replica...» "and then of course my clones.

    This is for performance.   by putting a replica on each logical unit number you reduce it strain to the master drive.  and if you do only a small amount of clones you see so much storage recording under when you increase the number

    > It does seem like a very clean deployment or a huge space saver.

    It is a statement of eronous, lager numbers do you the more great saving you gain

    > I'm not exactly sure how other like Citrix or make this a several deployments.

    Exactly in the same way

    About storage needs is the AD / DNS clean which adds to the time of administration.  I'm sure that VMware will try to clean up and streamline some of these questions (I hope).

    Short of running a remove script area when the device is disconnected, not much you can do really.

    On another note: I'm looking to find instructions on creating a VM XP skeleton with the basics required for AD, Antivirus, Office, Outlook, VMware, NAS & Netowrk sharing etc.  I really want to get as small as possible without removing too many features.  It must be useful for the normal user...?

    Do the search on the forums there are ateast 40 threads on this topic.

    End of the article she reads.
    We don't know with certainty if it is a feature of stock Android 5.1 or something exclusive to an Android up to 5.1 in the AOSPS and we see that it installed on dual-SIM phones that are not part of a program. For most phones, this feature probably will not be exposed in any case.

    Could be an exclusive feature.

  • After modernizing seen at 5.2, computers available to office-related clones pool fail

    Hi all

    I hope someone has an idea,

    I was running 5.1.1 environment including composer and deployment work without any problem.

    After the upgrade to 5.2 (including the composer) and agents on the virtual machine parent linked clones deployment fails.

    the virtual machine is created, but the customization goes down, if I can I connect to them, I see that there is no network adapter. which is weird.

    now, the virtual machine has of course a network card, but for some reason, the operating system does not see.

    I am using windows 7 64 bit and vmxnet3.

    If I go back to the old agent 5.1.1 it works.

    Does anyone have an idea?

  • Models of VM, Windows and related Clones updates

    In our society, we have a set of VM templates for a variety of different versions of Windows, we need to test our software. Our test workflow goes like this:

    1 Tester creates a new, empty configuration

    2 Tester adds new clone linked VMs for each version of Windows they need to test against, using our models.

    3. tests coming, development challenges coming, more tests, etc.

    4. when the test is finished, VMs will be cancelled but must be kept available for a period of time (several weeks or several months for example)

    Periodically, we run Windows updates on the models to keep them informed. In my view, that it is cancelling publication of the model, deploying, running updates, Undeploying and then publish it again.

    But this raises a few questions:

    We expect problems if not to publish models, run Windows update and then republish these models when there is, linked clone VMs based on them? Through this repeatedly over time will start to degrade the performance of the models (due to new links in chains)? How often, if ever, should we be consolidate models (we prefer to minimize this for reasons of space)?

    In fact, the picture is slightly more complicated, because the models VM themselves are linked clones:

    Windows-> add Visual Studio 6-> add to Visual Studio 2005-> add to Visual Studio 2008-> add to Visual Studio 2010

    Most of our test VMs are linked clones since the last link in the chain above: windows with a variety of pre-installed Visual Studio versions.

    I would be grateful of any advice on 1) how we should address updates of Windows running on the models and the 2) when, if ever, we must consolidate the models.

    Thank you

    Adam

    Periodically, we run Windows updates on the models to keep them informed. In my view, that it is cancelling publication of the model, deploying, running updates, Undeploying and then publish it again.

    Could they remove just the configurations if they're going to be just "sitting there"?  If you want to keep them fresh and current (compared to the model itself), then they should really just remove the configuration and create a new one if necessary.

    I expect questions if you just don't publish/deploy/update / publish.  When "unpublish you" a new link in the chain is done, so any existing VMs based on the previous instance of the virtual machine will continue to exist without error.  All the updates that are placed in a new location, and new virtual machines will be based out of this instance, once you have published it.

    Storage performance can degrade over time, but it really depends on the profile of IO of the virtual machines themselves and the length of the string of this virtual machine.  If the update cycle occurs every month, then perhaps consolidate records each h1/h2.  If you're updating models every week, then maybe do it once per quarter.  It is just the management fees.  The technical limit is 30 links in the chain, but try to keep it under 15 or more.

    (1) how we tackle running Windows updates on the models and 2) while, if ever, we must consolidate the models.

    I think that my comments above should help you out.

    Best regards

  • Clone/heal missing sample circle?

    I was using just 4.3 LR (trial version) to edit photos in a collection that I exported previously, but now when I use the Clone or Heal brush - the selection and the circles of the sample are absent and unrepresented. As soon as I click on the place for clone/heal, he is immediately changed and I can't tell where the sample is taken. If I move my cursor to the area even once, it turns into the double arrow to resize the edit circle and I can adjust it but the edges of the circle are not displayed - only the area of pixels. There is no difference if I left-click or press the touchpad on my laptop to apply the clone/heal.

    I had installed the package of Nik Software 1.0.0.7 pending, and because it is perhaps the cause - uninstalled and restarted. The question remained. I uninstalled LR 4.3 and rebooted, installed LR 4.4 and re-tested - still the question remains. I don't know what else to test. Running on the new install of Win 7 (64 bit) on laptop ASUS UX32VD.
