Qosmio G20 - Unmountable Boot Volume

Hi all

My G20 starts, I get the standard screen of Windows XP, then a vile blue screen of death, then a message "unmountable boot volume" still more hideous. The systems recovery disc is not an option because he wants to clean up the entire disk.

Is there a software I can burn it to a cd, which will allow me to start and run a type scandisk/chkdsk program to try to repair the drive? I have fond memories of the Norton Utilities programs type which unfortunately seems to have disappeared. Otherwise, I assume that the reader must go out, be "caddied" and operated in my desktop pc, where I can download repairers adapted on the net?

Am I missing the point with the drive to "recover", IE there facilities to try to recover the data on the disk, rather than rinse?

Thank you
Dude

Hi mate,

There is not much to say, I have the solution for you: UBCD4Win (www.ubcd4win.com)

It s simply a CD image of gorgeus with a Windows XP as the basis, so download, burn, and secure your data or repair your file system.
I saved a lot many damaging HDD´s, data and everything I know with this really useful tool.

Good luck buddy
Welcome them

I read in some sites 'recover using xp disk', my laptop was bought with xp was preinstalled and I don't have a recovery disk.

    Hello

I agree with Guybrush. The error seems to be related to the boot file system is defective and new resettlement could help.

As we have already mentioned, the Toshiba Recovery CD could be controlled using the adresse_web above.
If you are owner of an old series of laptop then the recovery CD could be ordered in the local ASP.

But generally, you can use a Microsoft operating system CD too.
You could install windows using this CD and all Toshiba drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

  • Satellite Pro L10 - Unmountable Boot Volume

My Satellite Pro L10 loops in the boot process. After the Windows XP splash screen, the following error messages appears:... Unmountable boot volume... Technical information: Stop: 0x000000ED...

I know that is nothing exceptional and do a full restore would solve the problem. But I don't want to lose the data (which are of course not saved). I tried a Windows XP disk, but it does not start from the cd/dvd drive by pressing F12 or <0>and change the boot order...

    Can anyone help please?

    Hello

Hmm, the volume not mountable startup error message appears especially if the HARD drive may not be recognized during initialization. Why? Well, maybe the HARD drive failures or the master boot record is defective!

If you don t want to recover the laptop, you can try to boot from the XP CD (C press immediately after switching on the laptop) and to start the repair console.

In the repair console, you can use the command chkdsk/p and after that, you could fix the disk main boot using the fixboot command or / and fixmbr.

If this does not help, the new installation of the OS is that you as a last resort.

PS: If you want to save the data you can try to remove the HARD drive and try to connect it via external USB HDD controller to another computer.

  • HP DV7-7338ea Windows 8 Unmountable Boot Volume BSOD

The product concerned here is a HP DV7-7338ea with Windows 8 operating system. I used it for just under 11 months and bought with Windows 8 is installed.

    Description of the problem:

I recently installed a new sound update for my laptop. I was asked to reboot and once that happened, I got a BSOD with error message: unmountable boot volume. When this happens, it restarts and goes into mood "automatic repair of preparation", after which the screen goes black and shows of slider windows and then what is it. I find myself with no options or anything. I tried pressing F11 at startup upward, then he said "Please wait" and goes back to the same black screen. I left on during more than an hour, but it just stays there until my man turns off the warm-ups (this has never happened before). I have not installed recently something back outside of the HP update. Please help because I don't know what to do now. I didn't save my files again, and they are too important to me to lose.  Thank you

    Update:

I ran a check of the system, and it says that the DST of short Hard Drive failed. Does that mean I lost my files? The laptop was working fine until this last update HP who may have damaged my hard drive.

A DST short drive hard failure means that, either your hard drive is faulty or were not together.

If you are still under warranty, contact your retailer or HP local store and get a replacement hard drive that you can change yourself or have it sent service.

If you have a competent friend IT, you may be able to recover some data on the computer.

You can try to remove the hard drive of your computer and its connection to his own.

Please let me know how it works.

  • No windows XP cd and I have unmountable boot volume problem

I don't have a Windows XP CD, I lost it... how I can get a CD so I can try to solve my problem of "unmountable boot volume"? Do I have other options?

    Hi EricaMetzler,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. When you receive the error message?

You will need to check the hard disk for all errors for which you need the Windows XP installation CD.

Unfortunately, Windows XP installation CD is no longer available for sale, you can contact any local store tech or you can check eBay or Amazon, they have all copies left.

  • CHK DSK/r & CHK DSK/p does not solve blue screen UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME... any suggestions?

Hi, need help please. After an update of windows, there was a couple of error message on my computer, and then one day, he came with a blue screen at the beginning by saying "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME". OK, I googled and he said everywhere to have an installation CD (which I have) and then perform the CHK DSK/r, CHK DSK/p or CHK DSK/r/p that I did all 3. Then I typed in FIXBOOT c:... ok, well... seemed so I typed in the output. Blue screen again! He tried again and again without success. I would NOT be this format... we have a lot of customer files on this computer... ANYTHING else out there to try? I can't find any other information. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you...!

Hello - there was only 1 partition, and I think I know what it was. It was see the external hard drive - which I NOT formatted and works very well - and now that I have disconnected, he says "hard drive not found '. Now, I can not format the main computer! Should I rehook it? I just don't want this external hard drive to be formatted. How to format my computer (since CHK DSK does not work) with the CD? I just get the message 'cannot see the hard drive. Thanks for your help.

N ° not re - hang. In fact, you must disconnect all devices from the computer except for your keyboard and your mouse. This includes, but is not limited to, your printer, card readers or other devices other than your cd rom of course media.

The error you receive is probably due to your SATA controller driver is not being installed. Restart the computer and enter the bios. See if you can find the option to disable the AHCI or RAID and IDE SATA (SATA/PATA) emulation mode. Windows should detect your hard drive.

Finally, if you are unable to find the option to turn off the AHCI/RAID mode, provide me the full brand and the model number of your computer.

  • BSoD Unmountable Boot Volume error message

This morning my laptop was running slowly and I executed a forced shutdown. When you turn on the computer, I kept getting a blue screen with the error message "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". All the options I tried met the same fate. I have the recovery disk and tried to use it to fix the system. However, after stopping race/spinning drive, only a black screen remained and remained it up to with no progress for more than 3 minutes more. I don't remember what is the code, but I'll take a look later, when I try again with the recovery disc to attempt to repair the system. I have looked through all the answers to previous questions to the BSoD Unmountable Boot Volume error and see if it is of help.

Are there suggestions more with this issue? I try to keep spending as cheap as possible. Thank you.
