Qosmio G20 - Vista forced on second HARD drive installation

I installed Vista on my second HDD and place it in the second slot of HDD of my G20. However, it has begun to give some error messages on startup so I had to format the second disk of HARD with XP, I always get a number of errors on the HARD drive (installed at the factory) primary. Who is the Media Center Receiver service issue that comes up intermittently.

I guessed that I must have damaged some of the registry that I also get KEYBOARD shortcut to the startup error messages. Please can anyone help with solutions I want to reformat my main HARD drive.

Hey Buddy please be serious. In my opinion, you can do what you want, but you are never sure that everything is fixed to 100%. Registry errors are for me the most sensible issues and it should all be perfect.

Back up all your important data and install OS using the recovery image. You will have perfectly clean BONES and you can continue to experiment with the Vista installation.

What mistakes have you noticed when OS starts?

  • Qosmio G20: How to format the HARD drive?

    Hello!

I bought Qosmio G20 last week and now I want to install Windows XP MCE (not recovery, but a CD in Windows XP CD) on this subject but I have a problem formatting of hard drives. There are two hard disks, and when I try to put in the form of Win 98 it is said as "formatting is not supported on C:" or "formatting is not supported on D:". I want to do before installing new windows because I want to create multiple partitions, but to do that I need to format the disc first.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to format discs in this way?

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD C drive because the operating system is running on this HARD drive.
What you can do is to use the 3rd party software that creates the partitions on the HARD disk on the system running. I use partition Magic 8 to create and manage partitions.

  • Qosmio X 70-A-12W-Second HARD drive is not recognized

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X 70-A-12W and there a slot open for an extra hard disk of 2.5 inches. I bought a new hard drive Toshiba, which has been installed but the laptop does not see.

    What should I do?

    Hello

I found the procedure of replacing the HARD drive in this Toshiba document:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/CRU3903II0000R01.htm

It shows the 2nd HARD drive slot but very important is a fact: the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS?
Go to BIOS and check the first page of the BIOS. Generally if an upgrade is possible, the 2nd HARD drive must be in the BIOS (first page containing all the details such as the name and size).
In case the disk HARD isn't in the list, you need to check if the new HARD drive is OK (test it in the first slot of HDD).

In some cases these updates could not be possible lack of HARD disk controller.

  • Qosmio G20: How to replace a HARD drive

I would like to replace the second HDD with a bigger and use the one replaced as a clone backup of my system drive.

Just did the cloning and want to insert the clone as 1 HARD drive for testing purposes, but I don't know how to do really what.
Where the hard drives and how to open the laptop, but how to remove and insert are described in the manual?

There is a flap/bracelet plastic (sorry no native speaker) that looks like you have to shoot.
Tried a bit of pull up, but I dare not.

Would be nice, if someone has already done this and could explain it to me.

    Hello

Since the disk HARD in the computer is connected to a special connector, Don t you need not worry. Simply, enter it gently and swap the drives, nothing great will happen.

Just trust yourself and shoot the thing, it will go with just a little resistance, but he died.

  • Second hard drive installation

I installed a second SATA drive in my XPS 410.  I wanted to increase my internal storage space.  The system is configured with RAID in the BIOS.  I am running Windows Vista.  With the installed new drive and the new drive is enabled in the BIOS SATA configuration, I do not see the new drive when starting Vista.  I know that it is because the RAID is enabled.  If I go into the BIOS setup and try disabling RAID Vista won't start and gives me an error with options to attempt a repair or start normally.  In order not to damage others I go back and turn it on again RAID and let Vista Restart.  Once again, I get the error with the repair or restart option.  I did the repair option and Vista restore.  Everything is now back as I started.  My question is: can RAID go out without destroying the data on my C drive?  I checked the program Intel Matrix Storage Controller and it indicates that the original drive is not in an active RAID configuration.  So it looks like this could be done without damage, but it's scary, territory and I would like to learn more before you continue.  All the world is cela and what happens?

  • Unistalling windows vista on a secondary hard drive.

I recently built a new PC with a SSD as main OS drive and Windows 7 as my new main operating system.  As long as my secondary HARD drive, I used an old HDD that has a version of Vista as well as all my old files.  I'm hoping to keep all my old files on this disk and delete Vista to free up space on this drive.  I have also other programs (software Zune. ect on the drive, I guess I will need to download a new version for Win7.)  Should I uninstall that as well and download a new version?

Any advice you may have for me are appreciated... Thank you!

  • Qosmio G50 - 13R - add second HARD drive

    Hello

I want to upgrade my computer.
    Here are the numbers:

    Product name: Qosmio G50 - 13R
    Product version: PQG55E-05C04RFR
    Product series number: 89063721H

I have space for a second hard drive, but it is empty.
    No caddy, no connector.
But the Intel Rapid Storage detects an empty 4 internal port.

How to check what is the port?

I did some research and found a document on the substantive content of my computer. It says there is a connector on the motherboard for a second hard drive, here are a few references in the document:

CN1920 2nd SATA HDD (20 PIN) interface connector

Is that the motherboard of my computer (see reference above) has the CN1920 connector?
    How verified?

    Greetings.

There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past, the Qosmio G50 is out with support for different hardware specifications and different hardware parts and obviously 2nd HARD drive Bay does not the HARD drive cable/connectors.

The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated controllers serial ATA Host, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 devices SATA (2 x HDD, 1 x ODD, 1 x eSATA).

I searched on the internet a bit and discovered that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
The first HARD drive must be connected to the CN1900 connector SATA (23pin) and the 2nd HARD drive must be connected to the CN1920 (20pin). The STRANGE is connected to CN1910 (13pin)

However, I think that it will not be very easy to update this unit with a 2nd HARD drive all must be dismantled and of course, you need compatible parts for these updates.

  • Qosmio X 70A - how to add second HARD drive

    Hello Forum,

    I own a X 70 A 11 Q Qosmio with a 1.5 T HARD drive.
I want to add a second HARD drive into the empty Bay.

Can someone me, Toshiba spare part is needed to mount the new HARD drive into the empty Bay?
Where can I get a spare part in Germany?

    Kind regards
    humaximizer

    Hello

All parts can be ordered from local authorized Toshiba maintainer.
Here is a page with all FSA available worldwide:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

But even if there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay, you must check if the Bay contains the HARD drive connector.
The fact is that not all models are equipped with the same motherboard, but with the same substantive coverage that contain 2nd HARD drive Bay.

By the way: what you need is a kind of drive bracket HARD 2.5 ". Something like [this | http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/images/TOS-X505%20sm.jpg]

  • Can I add a second hard drive on the Qosmio X 500-12 q?

    Hello
I would like to know if its possible to add a second hard drive to the X 500-12 q?
I suppose that space is available, but I would like to know whether the connector is here & all
I could just open the case and plug it in.

    Thank you

In the document s user manuals I have not found something on HD upgrade so I m really don't know if this will be possible.
Anyway, as Jeka wrote, remove the HARD drive cover and check if there is place for second HARD drive and also necessary SATA connector.

I have older 300 x and there is room for two drives.

  • Equium A200-1AC - cannot remove the second HARD drive cover

I have an Equium A200-1AC, there is also a second HARD-drive Bay, but I can't get the cover off the coast, can anyone help?

    Hello

As far as I know, this HARD drive cover is only guaranteed with a screw and after the withdrawal of these screws, you should be able to remove the plastic cover.
Maybe it's sticks somewhere, you can use a thin object and could leverage with caution
But don t do something with force!

  • G10 - 133 - Question on second HARD drive

    Hello

To save defeat them the laptop, can someone tell me if it has one or two bays for hard drive? It came with 80 GB of HARD drive. I see the models come with two 80 GB HARD drive. If my model has a vacant Bay, what kind of speed/model of drive should I get to install. I guess that's as simple as putting one in my old satellite pro 4600. Unscrew a few screws and put in a basket?

    Kind regards

    Paul

    Hello Paul

As far as I know there no problem if you want to use the second HARD drive. Check the coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner of your Qosmio. Remove it and check the room for the second HARD drive.

As you know that Qosmio is designed to RAID technology and if you want to use it, you must use two absolutely identical hard drives. If this isn't the case, you can use the same HARD disk with more capacity than first.

Please inform us of the results. It may be useful to other users of the forum.

  • How to use the second HARD drive of Satellite A210 - BP1 for mirroring

Satellite A210-BP1 came with 2 HDD (160 GB).
Now, I want to use the second hard drive mirrored the first, one that has Vista installed.
This should be done without supervision and in real time - as a RAID 1.

    How can I do this?
I also have Vista professional available and I would be willing to use 3rd party software as well.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hi Jan

I doubt that this is possible
Why? The point is that you need to use two hard drives in mirroring, RAID striping, mode etc technology
Satellite A210 can't RAID. It s only a SATA controller without RAID capacity!

Therefore, the final answer is; NO, it is not possible to use mirroring

  • Presario CQ5110F: COMPAQ Presario CQ5110F adding a second hard drive and...

Good so I took the lead when writing my original post on how to combine the two computers successfully.
Not enough research, no question, just a little say aloud... Sorry about that.
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/HP-Pavilion-slimline-s3505f-amp-...

I had little time today messing with both ' puters and discovered...
They need a good cleaning and had.
The noise of the Presario is indeed the fan on the radiator, it's just old and tired. Who cannot be strong in a music room; new fan may not be too expensive.
So I decided the Presario is my starting point.

I would add the hard drive of the Slimline as slave; they have different connectors tho.

    (1) if I just unplug the V2000 CD reader (that has the straight plugs) and use them to connect the second hard drive will I just lost my CD player? It is very good.
    (2) what parameters of rider (if any) do I need to have on each disc? Do not see outside the car Slimlines.

I looked closer 2 slots for RAM and noticed that beside them there seems to be 2 places in addition to the Board of Directors, unused with no present holders plastic.

    (3) is it possible to add more slots and double the RAM? I would get 8 + GB and a 64-bit system end by ;~)

Neither office seems to have the ability to run 2 monitors as is. No problem 29 "should do for now.
Can't see a way to take the card out of the Slimline wireless and put it in the Presario. Internet not immediately necessary, hard connection cable always an option.

All the other tips and advice on how to optimize my sytem are also welcome.
Thank you for your time and helping an old guy handyman.
    See you soon!

There is no adjustment to make on hard disks of the rider SATAS. According to me, that one can think of the old school the IDE drives.

The image below is a diagram for your motherboard. You have enough SATA ports to be used for the second and even a third hard drive.

DDR2 memory modules can be a little difficult to source. The current generation of add-on memory is the DDR3 specification.

Perform a Google or any search engine is your preference in the memory of the source by using the update of Compaq presario CQ5110F RAM as keywords.
