  • Unable to access second hard drive

I have a toshiba satilite, Vista 64 bit, dual core laptop.  The second hard drive crashed and I replaced it.  Now I can't access the second hard drive to install windows 7.   What place?

You must install Vista from a recovery disk or a Vista dvd installation.  If you don't have a recovery disc, you can order the laptop manufacturer or a third party provider as Recovery - Disks.com.  If you have a Vista dvd installation, you must start the computer with it.

Re-lead a folder to a different location or hard drive is easily accomplished by this change.

You can disable the sharing of files between users on the same computer. Here is a tutorial

  • Cannot access old hard drive

I'm trying to access a hard drive using Windows XP on a portable computer that uses Windows 7. I continue to turn in "inaccessible" and "you don't have the required permissions. When I plug the hard drive via USB to an another computer XP it works fine. I can't find a Security tab allows to work with. I searched and checked other forums who have discussions on this subject and the answers do not help. I'm looking for a free way access.

Originally, none of this has worked. I had accidentally figured it out. I opened it while on a XP computer and now it appears in Windows 7. I still have no idea why.

Things worked very well, but I got hurt in the last weeks, I can access is more than 4 to Media of USB1

I can connect two hard drives on my laptop Win 10 and access it fine, I scanned to find errors

I can put a USB2 hard drive and access it through the Linksys router.

  • Cannot access my IOGEAR BOSS with Vista home premium

I have problems to access the directories on my external device with my new PC, and I hope you can help me.

I just replaced my old HP Desktop running XP OS with a new DELL desktop which is under Vista Home Premium (32 bit) and now I can't access the device of utility of IOGEAR BOSS. I was able to access the external device with it and can be accessed with 2 other PC at home now. Can't seem to connect to the external device with this new system.

    What I can do:
I am directly connected the BOSS and can access the internet via the BOSS. I also see the external device in my network. I can ping, tracert it. That's where! Just can't log in there!

    What I can't do
Map a drive to the external device or authenticate in the unit. (When I try to access it, it prompts me for the ID/PW as it should, but he does not like the ID/PW I provided). I know that the PW & ID works calibrated it works on 2 other PC's connected on it.

Steps to access the external device
I am trying to access by taking the following measures:
    1 map a network drive
    2 assign the letter Z
    3 path: \\192.168.2.1\share
    4 pushes. me for ID & PW - admin\ *.
5 ERROR Message: Logon FAILURE - NOTES: now shows the ID: Desktop\admin

    What I've done
1 Contcted IOGEAR - checked all the settings of security, network and pwermission and reset the permissions of the external device to the original state. Did not work. They sent me to Ms & Dell.
    2. contacted Dell - did the same exact steps. They sent me Ms.

    Can anyone help?

According to the site Web of IOGEAR (http://www.iogear.com/product/GNS1000/) it is only compatible with Windows® 98SE, 2000, ME, XP.  So so looking for a compatibility issue.  The update of the firmware is from March 2006, you might want to update the Firmware and see if that helps, but with compatibility issues, it's a scenario 'best effort '.

Below you will find the IOGEAR support page, I hope that helps solve your problem.

  • How to share a second hard drive with the residential group / network?

Initially, I posted this to the security and privacy but we told him it should be under the sons of the network.  Here's hoping someone can help.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop both running W7 Home Professional 64 bit.  On the desktop, I have 2 hard drives - C has programs, D has the data.  On the laptop, I'm just a hard drive.

Each machine can see the other time under residential group and network.  From the Office I can access files that are on the laptop but I can't do the reverse.

The laptop can see the desktop drive D and all folders that I shared, but when I try to dig into a folder I get a message saying I don't have permission to access the folder.  In this case, if I try to access using either homegroup or the network.

On the desktop, when I look at the properties of the D drive it shows as a shared network drive.  Individual records within D show shared with permissions of read/write with anyone and/or homegroup.

What did I do wrong (or failed to do) to allow me to access the files on the disk D of desktop from the laptop?

    Hello

Step 1: Try to run the troubleshooter of shared folders and check.
    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Share-files-with-someone

Step 2: Try to give permissions to specific user through which you are trying to access these files or folders.
    Reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727008.aspx

Step 3: You can also try the advanced sharing and check.

See the article provided in step 1 and the bottom of the article.

  • cannot eject external hard drive with Aperture library on it

    Hello

in recent weeks, I can't eject a hard disc with the Aperture library on it. A dialog appears saying that an Application is still in use, but opening is closed and there is nothing else on the external drive (Seagate 2 to).

Yesterday, I moved my library on a Lacie Rugged drive. Always the same question.

What could be the reason for this?

Eddd you change Aperture preferences recently? Perhaps the preview preferences or XML part?

  • Hard drive with Vista?

Using Vista, which means when the computer disks window opens following authentication?  I have run diagnostics and get a failure on two test HD internal: target read and SMART short self test.  But when I run chkdsk, it doesn't seem to be a problem.  Should I take the player window as a sign that the internal hard drive is a logon failure when his connection?

    Thank you.

I don't know why Explorer opens the window of the player at the start, but you must take the warnings of diagnoses (especially the caveat SMART) seriously and prepare for imminent hard disk failure.  The idea behind SMART is that he sees the problems while they can still be compensated and to notify you prior to the system of training/can no longer compensate for the problem.

I can't access a secondary SATA disk on my Vista 64 installation.  Here's the context: I have two SATA HD in my office.  I use one for the OS and the second as storage device.  Now that I'm done with a format and reinstall, I have Vista 64 back up and running and fully implemented to date.  Now that it is operational, I noticed that I can not access the 2nd HD (the storage disk).  The computer knows that it is attached and it can read technical information.  The BIOS sees the drive, device manager sees the drive, Disk Manager sees the drive, and I have a program 3rd party (Everest) that I use to monitor its use and the time he sees too much.  I can see the size of the disk, manufacturer, etc. but I can not access the information on the disk.

What can I do to remedy this situation?  He worked before (pre format) without problem, why it is not working now?  No physical connection have changed, so I don't see why it would be unavailable.

    Hello

    5 type
CACLS (external drive letter) /G Administrator: F and press ENTER.

Note: Administrator can be change to your local user with the permission of the administrator account
