  The problem is that the final version of Vista SP1 is brand new and it may happen that some drivers don't support this new service pack.
  In this case the driver needs to be updated.

  Try to make a copy using the glass, then a second using the ADF and compare two copies. Both have lines or not only made using the ADF?

  In addition, it is the document that you used? HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one and Photosmart 7520 e - all-in - One Printer Series - band vertical, lines, or streaks in the Copies, faxes, or scans. If this isn't the case, please do. Special attention to the part where a copy had the lines.   Thanks for getting back to me. I sold my old laptop to my son-in-law, and he asked me to remove my name from the computer off so that my name wasn't on the screen all the time. so I deleted the profile of cook of lorraine and made one for him, but I didn't give it a password. then I realized what I had to do (I got Lorraine where time is on the bottom of the screen), but was unable to highlight to remove it without a mouse. so I plugged a mouse, but the computer does not read, then I restarted the computer. When I restarted, all I could get was the windows login screen.

  then I typed in the name son-nlaws and they said that he was kidnapped, tyoed in mine and got the same and then typed in Administrator, but did not know the password. I have since reinstalled windows. XP Professional would not install saying a file was missing, so I installed xp family and is working again. He just has to click on what edition it wants to run.   I have a X 500/00 X, and at the height of the windows task bar, there is a long and dark blur/shadow which extends along the screen. Now, it is not immediately noticeable (like the taskbar cache) until you hide the taskbar (or do more so the question is not at the same height as the taskbar itself). If you change the wallpaper of a solid such as blue color it is VERY apparent. It is also obvious when windows loads until the taskbar appears to hide.

  It does not appear that dead pixels, I'm at a loss as to what it is. Unfortunately, it is very obvious when editing photos (I Autohide the taskbar) that there is a long and dark shadow/blur on the entire length of the screen.

  Toshiba in a first time was told it would need to be repaired or replaced (this has bugged me because I informed them of the fault 2 days after purchase) but now after reviewing their own test machine (thanks to me telling them to check) they tell me it is considered a "limitation of technology' and I just put up with it. They would even say that it effects ALL of X 500, and even a replacement screen would give the same question. Now, I know the check against the models a dozen display here in Brisbane (a store open 4 boxes looking for a unit not fualty) there is obviously widespread, but surely a fault like this cannot perform all units.

  Do any other X 500 owners do NOT have this problem?

  Had a nice long chat with someone here re Toshiba service center the screen problem and unfortuantely... Yes, it will be the effect of all THE x 500 and no it can't be fixed.

  He said a retailer had 4 of them, so he took one and pulled to pieces trying to solve this problem, even a deported to Tokyo for Toshiba to watch.

  Seems the screen is "fluro tubes" to the top and the bottom of the screen and this issue is just a shadow of the tubes and there is nothing he/they can do to get rid of him. Said he tried...

  Very bad design Toshiba, whereas it is a product of superior quality, very poor indeed
