Qosmio G40 - 11 d - Driver GPU

Hi all

For some time I experienced problems with my GPU which are normal when using out-of-date drivers. The most annoying is freeze dry 2-3, after which everything turns back to normal and the system informs that "display driver difficulties blah blah blah". In fact, some people here suggested that this problem can be related to Vista-WorldOfWarcraft relationship, while in fact - it is not.

Also, I would use CUDA. My GPU is CUDA compatible and I would use its potential for my daily routines (for example: using Badaboom to decode AVCHD movies in addition to the format).

All this brings me to a point where I * update my GPU driver *. As we know, Toshiba is as nvidia updates disk do not exist, cuda does not exist and refer to the manual. So, here I ask you guys: the GPU update will turn my laptop into a portable heater?

What I have in bind - based on the experience of P100-324 (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=103951) I am worried if the GPU fans are controlled by a non-standard features, Toshiba-custom-built Toshiba drivers. If so, after GPU, Quosmio driver installation will not be able to turn its GPU fans, that will be very sad :-(

Then the bottom is - just as someone of you successfully updated the driver of your GPU to a non-Toshiba-blessed (and have your laptop still works)?

Hello world.

I decided to go a step further and upgraded to Vista 64. I was very happy to discover that the Toshiba Nvidia drivers and work well with my GPU, including the fans spinning ;-) In addition, a big PLUS for Toshiba to provide a pack 64-bit driver.

There is another problem, however: an HDMI output.

If I use the Toshiba drivers, for a full-hd (1920 x 1080) resolution I can only pick 23-30 Hz refresh rate (60 Hz available for everything under 1280 x 800 there). If I use the Nvidia, connection to a HDMI results BSOD device drivers :-(

Any ideas how to 'inject' mode 1920 x 1080 / 60 Hz in the drivers of Toshiba? Do I need to manipulate the GPU drivers or display drivers? Or maybe both?

Is this a problem with my laptop or software that has been loaded. Now on Windows 7 32 bit Vista

    Hi spudcam,

This means that for the memory controller PCI is no driver installed?

Well, it is difficult to say which driver you need exactly and Windows 7's official is not compatible with the Qosmio G40.

AFAIK memory PCI controller is Intel Turbo Memory module, so you would need Robson package driver of the official website of Toshiba.
Now, I looked on the page of Toshiba and guess what, it s is available for G40 and Windows 7. :)

  • Problems on Qosmio G40 - 12U on Driver genius use of

    Hello!!

This is my first post here. So Hello everyone!

    I recently purchased a Qosmio G40-12 U. It's a great laptop!

But I'm having a problem that I installed the Software Driver Genius to update the drivers and so forth and once updated packages Intel that I can't start the laptop without connecting it to the wall outlet. I can unplough the laptop and still work until the empty battery, but if I turn it off it I cannot turn back unless I plug to the power outlet.

    Could someone help me?

    Kind regards

    Hello

As much as I know this software is not supported by Toshiba and I believe that no one can explain with certainty what the problem is here. The fact is that all compatible drivers are tested and they will not work correctly.

So my opinion is that you should return to the Toshiba factory settings.

  • Qosmio G40 - windows 7 - driver tv tuner problem

I have a _problem with TV tuner driver after installing Windows 7 64-bit Professional (new installation) on Qosmio G40_ (G40-111, part Nr: PQG40E-01E007N5)

All the drivers I downloaded from www.toshiba-europe.com and installed manually one by one.

The system recognizes a tv tuner (TOSHIBA PCI TV DVB-T/Analog hybrid Tuner (x 64)) and the proposed... driver is installed but the device does not work correctly:
    -There is a small triangle of sign with "!" in Manager devices agaist this device;
    -Properties in General: "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) « ;
    -Properties in Driver: driver version 2.1.1.0, driver date: 28/03/2007;
-Properties in resources: this device uses no resources because it has a problem.
-Windows Media Center doesn't have a tv tuner.

I used Vista 32 bit Ultimate so far and a tv tuner works very well.

In order to solve the problem, I tried everything, I could think for two nights:
-new new installation of Windows 7 (no result)
    -installation of the driver on WIn7 tv tuner freshly installed BEFORE any other driver and chip set drivers... the '! ' appears immediately on the installation of Manager and subsequest of other drivers doesn't help;
-driver download for Vista and Win7 (no result), American and European sites
-Uninstall and reinstall, manual search for a device and an *.inf file affectante special to be installed (no result)

    * I believe, that the driver is not fully functional with Win7 64 bit and TOSHIBA has GOT TO RELEASE A WORK ONE... instead of trying to offer a driver 03/28/2007! *

    * SOMEONE AT TV-TUNER AND ONDER WORKING WIN7-64 OR VISTA 64? *

    Please share your experience!

Thanks for any advice or help! Most appreciated!

I'm not 100% sure but I think that all of the stuff available on Toshiba download page is for Win7 update only.
I can see TV pilot is not available at all, and I think it's proof of my theory.
So what you need to do is to upgrade pre-installed Vista (Toshiba recovery image) to Win7 using the upgrade kit Toshiba.

I did it with my Qosmio x 300 and there is no problem at all.
What you can do is to contact the hotline of Toshiba or the nearest Toshiba service. They should have access to important information and they can help you with this.

  • Driver SATA required for installing XP on Qosmio G40

    Hello

I have Toshiba Qosmio and I want to install windows XP Professional.
But as you know XP does not have the driver for SATA hard drive and it can't see the disk.

I have a good program to install the hard disk drivers in Win xp cd, but I don't have the driver.
So I need the driver disc Qosmio G40 hard to ride with the XP CD.

If there is no link available to download or any body done before.

    Thank you

The key is; Intel Matrix Storage Manager. This Storage Manager contains the necessary SATA drivers.
You can download it from the page of the driver Toshiba (check the other series where the XP driver are available) or from the Intel page.

I also recommend the use of the program nLite. You can create a clean XP CD using this software and might include the SATA driver (also, service packs, etc.) for the new CD of XP.

I did it too and it works like a charm.

    At soon buddy

  • Qosmio G40 - not more healthy with the last driver audio Realtek

    Hi all!

Whenever I have install the latest audio driver Realtek 6.1.0.53.97 on my Qosmio G40 (Vista), the sound not work more (not at all) so I don't have to return to the previous version.

Has anyone noticed this problem or has an explanation?

    Thank you.

    Louglitou.

    Hello

It's not easy to say why you n t get the noise after the update of the audio driver, but in my view, this problem may appear if a problem occurs during the installation/update procedure.
    But I have two questions;
Why do you want to update the audio driver? You have sound problems?
I think that if your sound is ok so an update is not necessary, I noticed that the Realtek audio drivers are updated from time to time. My audio driver is about 3 years old and I didn't update because it works very well.

    Best regards

  • Qosmio G40 - update graphics card

    Hello world

I know it works has already answered in October 2009, but I have a few not 100% course info on the upgrade of the graphics cards. Now I have a qosmio g40-10 with nvidia geforce 8600 with 512 video memory. Because this card is purely not enough for the high-end gaming today, I want to update at least 1 GB of video memory. Like many people here, I tried to find some information online but its just waste of time. I asked in each PC store in my town this topic and 60% of them responded that it is possible, but it will cost you so.

They could not tell exactly witch card should take but logically it will be nvidia series that were used by Toshiba manufacter, what I'll do I will find some young model of Toshiba nvidia cards and will just try to adapt it. Logically that laptops Toshiba chassy is almost the same, of course mounting screws can be different, but ultimately, it's a project. The only problem is the motherboard, I heard that this motherboard is unable to accept certain graphics cards.

If you have some info on this please let me know.
Also different (highest card) coz, there will be cooling problem so if you have ideas to solve heating, please share it with me.
    Thanks much adrian

    Hello Adrian

I guess that you know very well that the possibilities of upgrade on mobile units are very limited; especially GPU or CPU upgrade and laptop manufacturers offer don t any kind of support. Because of the design specific common problem for mobile units is cooling system. More performance means more heat and more heat, compromised of portable computer hardware switch or damage.

Manufacturers of portable don t support cela and don offers t any helpful info about it. GPU upgrade in my opinion is not a good idea. OK, you can do with your laptop that you want and play a little bit, but I'm afraid that your project is too risky and will not end with success of m.

If you need a more powerful computer I think it's time for the new portable computer with more powerful hardware. What you think so.

  • Qosmio G40 - graphics card keeps overheating and crashing all at stake

My nVidia 8600GT card in my laptop Qosmio G40 overheating guard and crashing when I m gaming.

It works all the games that I put on it fine, but overheating then crashes and me kicks off the games I play m.
Is it just because it s a laptop and it s inclined to do?

I tried to increase the fan speed with riva tuner and precision, but no program allows me to access the utility of fan speed.
I presume this is because it s a specific card from the laptop... I also can't find the driver for this card from nVidia updates.

    Help, please... James

    Hello!

Are you using the Toshiba display driver? This is important because the pilot factory don t have protection against overheating and the graphics chip can be damaged.

In addition, this could also be an overheating problem. If you need to clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air that you can buy at a local computer retailer.

Last but not least, I would not try to change the speed of the fan or something else. This will be controlled automatically.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G40-108 - prevent recovery of product disc ask to insert the disc

I have a Qosmio G40-108 and it works fine even if the disc is not read discs any longer, perhaps because of a motherboard failure that I replace the disk with a new of brans and it still does not work, but my problem is the following... I have the product recovery disc, I tried to copy it to a USB key and reinstall the OS from USB and the start of software loading a page with the logo Toshiba asking to insert the recovery disk into drive F: I can't use is more like it's broken. How can I prevent the disc from asking to insert the disk into drive F:? There are lines on the laptop recovery disk to install the USB without using the disc?

I managed to install a generic Windows Vista 32 bit downloaded from a Web site and my serial key works with it, but I really want to reinstall the original software
P.S. Recovery of product is for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and just in case there is also a serial number of the disk GMR400766ENG

I don't have any experience with this, but I found an interesting article on creating recovery USB - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

Maybe you'll be able to create the USB stick recovery. Check it out.

  • PCI Express Error - Qosmio G40 - 10Z

Yesterday I turned on my laptop and I got a black screen with the message "PCI Express Error"
I immediately started searching the Web that could be this error and I discovered that it is a known problem with some Toshiba laptops.

    http://www.nvidiadefect.com/Toshiba-Qosmio-G40-12C-t1149.html

Some of the many topics that I found about this error.

I bought my laptop model from January 2009 as a demo in a Dutch shop called Qplaza http://www.qplaza.nl/

Don't think I have any warranty next to security,) I received store (2 years), but there are a few things I don't understand.

As I understand it, it's that there is even a lawsuite on this problem and that it indeed was a problem with chips from nvidia 8600. But then why won't Toshiba or Nvidia fix laptops with these problems?

I read my laptop have to go to the special repair service to replace my motherboard and I have to pay for myself.
And that's IF they can fix my laptop.

I started searching the Internet which could be the cost of price, but the answers don't make me a very happy woman :-(

Is there another way to solve this problem?
And are there not places where you can buy a very appropriate motherboard for this laptop?

Can someone help me please? My laptop worked perfectly and without any warning... poof... can not run more.

    Hello

I can understand that you are not happy with the current situation. Nobody is happy if the computer starts to malfunction, but it of not always easy to tell which is the reason. For the exact diagnosis, you need professional tools and these tools available only to an authorized service provider.

I get bored in your ad information is information about the operating system. Are you using the version preinstalled Windows and you have already collected your notebook back to factory settings? If not, you should do this to make sure that it s no software or driver that is causing the problem.

If it still doesn't work you should get in touch with an authorized service provider and talk with the guys what they can do for you. I m, they can make you an offer for spare parts if you need them and a good price too of course. Just talk to the technicians is that as possible. ;)

    Hi John,.

So for the time being, you are not able to start Windows, right?

You can access the Windows Advanced Boot menu if you press the F8 key? If Yes, select Safe mode and try to start Windows.

Additionally, make sure that both hard drives are recognized in the BIOS correctly. If Yes and Windows doesn t it starts, looks like that you have to do a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility because Windows is confused upward and can start to t.

  • RAID 0/1 support on Qosmio G40-129

    Hello

I got the Qosmio G40-129. It has 2 hard drive, raid 0/1 support?
The chipset is intel PM965 Express
    The URL is:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&BV_UseBVCook ie = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 145962

    Dhanks

As far as I know the RAID options are offered on laptops with preinstalled Toshiba RAID Utility.
With this tool, you can choose between two options:
    -RAID 0 stripping
    -mirroring RAID 1

I'm not 100% sure but I think that Toshiba do not offer this tool for Qosmio G40 and I'm afraid that's not possible on your laptop.
This tool is preinstalled on your computer?

  • Drivers Windows 7 for the Qosmio G40-12 s

    I have a Qosmio G40 - 12 s with windows Vista 32-bit Edition full
And I install a Windows7 Ultimate 32 bit instead of vista, before I had to download all the drivers in this link (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp)
    I select these choices:
    Laptop > Qosmio > Qosmio G Series > Qosmio G40 > PQG40E > Windows7 32 Bit > ALL > ALL > English > search

but I think that there is no version of Windows7 that vista has, for example: there are no drivers for Windows7 infrared but here one for Vista
He is there not TEMPRO, ASSENT, silent acoustic, AMT, online Information product, Manager of remote control, Touchpad Driver, tiles for Mobility Center, etc... For windows 7!
My Vista driver was 27 driver - windows 7 driver only 19!

Driver 8 was missing in this link, we find that drivers?

I find TouchPad driver and I found one for her, but I can't found pilot infrared and Manager remotely so my remote not working do not now?

    Please advise me!

You are right. Some drivers are not available. I noticed the same thing for my Satellite A300.
For missing drivers, you can install the Vista drivers.

I did the same thing and everything works fine.
