Qosmio G40 - 11 d - every 2-3 minutes freeze the system

Hardware: Computer laptop Toshiba Qosmio G40 - 11 d, bios 2008, OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
Software: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit all updates from windows update.

Problem:
Every 2-3 minutes freeze the system - to stop the disc - LED disc controller turned on all the time.

I did the following:
1. I installed the drivers of intel (iata_cd.exe) of http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19607/a08/iata_cd.exe
2. I ran the ocz.reg script:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort0]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort1]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort2]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort3]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort4]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesi aStorParametersPort5]
"LPM" = DWORD: 00000000
"LPMDSTATE" = DWORD: 00000000
"MISCONDUCT" = DWORD: 00000000

The problem has been eliminated, but not quite. Now, the system stops only at idle speed... (aflter - 10-30 min)

Let me know what I do next.

Hey Buddy,

Have you noticed the same behavior with preinstalled Toshiba or did it only with your new SSD HDD?

You might have to update the firmware of the SSD. You should check the official website of OCZ if there is a newer version. If Yes, start the update firmware and then check again if it works or not.

    Hello

    Try turning off your User Account Control first download before the update manually. Here's how to turn off UAC: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787/en-us.

    I hope this helps.

  • XP SP3 if you use the workstation, it takes two minutes for the system to respond.

    This is a recent development, so my question is what could change because of the long delay?

    When you double-click 'My Computer', your system tries to enumerate all the drives connected to your system.  Among the possible causes for delays are network delays attempts to connect to a server that is inaccessible or not on the network or USB devices.  To limit this, try to disconnect or disable all connections in your network before you open the "my computer".  If it helps the problem, look for a network drive that he might try to connect to.  Another approach is to disconnect all USB devices to see if your problem is improving.  If so, look for a problem with a USB device.

    Also try:

  • If I use my system for some time (say 15 minutes) and the system automatically disconnects I want to open it as administrator

    Saving a system using win + L or an automatic log out after awhile and then to connect it will open in the same account that she used last time. I still want to ask an administrator password before returning inside the system.

    Uzair,

    The short answer is - you can't do what you want to do.

    Deletion of all accounts & just running things an Admin account will make it easier for horses Trojans enter your system - see Why use a standard account instead of an administrator account?  [you can also see this information in the help file of the computer management window].

    You should then be in using a Standard account for daily activities & keeping a password protected administrator account just for authorising facilities, etc.  This, judging from your description seems to be exactly what you are doing.

    I should also mention something else I want to give you half a story.  Make a second password protected administrator account.  From any account may suffer from corruption of the user profiles to use, your current Admin account could one day be the account who suffers from this corruption of the user profiles.  Having another Admin account as a reserve protects you against this possibility - it could then enter the system using the second Admin to fix things.  You should also make a password reset disk for each account on the computer.

  • Qosmio G40-108 - prevent recovery of product disc ask to insert the disc

    I have a Qosmio G40-108 and it works fine even if the disc is not read discs any longer, perhaps because of a motherboard failure that I replace the disk with a new of brans and it still does not work, but my problem is the following... I have the product recovery disc, I tried to copy it to a USB key and reinstall the OS from USB and the start of software loading a page with the logo Toshiba asking to insert the recovery disk into drive F: I can't use is more like it's broken. How can I prevent the disc from asking to insert the disk into drive F:? There are lines on the laptop recovery disk to install the USB without using the disc?

    I managed to install a generic Windows Vista 32 bit downloaded from a Web site and my serial key works with it, but I really want to reinstall the original software
    P.S. Recovery of product is for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and just in case there is also a serial number of the disk GMR400766ENG

    I don't have any experience with this, but I found an interesting article on creating recovery USB - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

    Maybe you'll be able to create the USB stick recovery. Check it out.

    Hi John,.

    So for the time being, you are not able to start Windows, right?

    You can access the Windows Advanced Boot menu if you press the F8 key? If Yes, select Safe mode and try to start Windows.

    Additionally, make sure that both hard drives are recognized in the BIOS correctly. If Yes and Windows doesn t it starts, looks like that you have to do a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility because Windows is confused upward and can start to t.

  • Qosmio G40 - upgrade memory to 4 GB

    Dear all,

    I want to upgrade my memory standard 2 GB (2x1GB, 667 Mhz) up to 4 GB. Clearly, I realize that only 3 GB (or something around) will be visible.

    * The question is choose what type RAM os and which brands/models best fit (price and performance-wise) *:
    (a) PC2-6400 800 Mhz
    (b) PC2-5300 667 Mhz

    _Would the system use PC2-6400 800 Mhz or could it be underclocked? _
    I read this thread (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=28634) and seems that the part of the wire on underclocking has not been addressed.
    Does make sence buy PC2-6400 with a hope that with increased Mhz, performance will improve?

    There is a list of RAM tested brands/models and confirmed as compatible by Toshiba for purposes of upgrade? _
    The manual indicates that only authorized Toshiba RAM should be used, but I failed to find a list of approved... The RAM manufacturers offer different ideas (Kingston suggests PC2-5300, Corsair suggests PC2-6400), but I'd rather hear Tohsiba.

    * I would be grateful to hear from those who have done an upgrade if there is no improvement in performance! *

    Thank you all,.

    I can see in the last 5 days nobody have written anything, and I hope that I can offer just my comment to this. To be clear I have no Qosmio G40 but I hope we can discuss on the upgrade of RAM.
    That said Toshiba? Not much.

    For each model of laptop, Toshiba offers a list of compatible and tested RAM modules. For your computer model Toshiba laptop offers modules of DDR2 667 MHz RAM. 2 GB module has PA3513U-1M2G part number. I also recommend you to buy Kingston modules. Kingston offers products of high quality.
    I don't see any reason why Toshiba should test all the modules available on the market and create a list. If someone will sell own products, they must test it with laptops available on the market and have a good chance to sell own products.

    As I wrote before RAM in the manuals is being tested. To be honest I don't see any sense why use module 800 MHz on the motherboard with bus 667 MHz front end, if you can get the 667 MHz modules.
    What do you think?

    One last thing: to comment on this notebook 800 MHz just processor system Bus Clock speed (PSB) is 800 MHz.

    I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and found that my infrared chipset (SMSC SIO1049 SuperIO chip) does not appear in Device Manager.

    The IR remote control provided by Toshiba does not work (it used to work fine under Vista). All the world had the same problem B4? How to fix you (if you resolved at all)?

    Does this mean that Ineed to wait for the next update of the BIOS (my BIOS version is 2.20)?

    Hello

    If the device is not visible in the Device Manager, not even as an unknown device, then this means that the device does not exist or was not detected by the BIOS.

    Usually, the infrared receiver must be visible in the Device Manager under:
    Human interface devices - > infrared receiver SMSCIR

    In system devices, you should see the device consumer infrared.

    Don't forget that you have enabled devices hidden sow option perhaps of Device Manager, then you might see this

    Please also check the BIOS
    I'm not very well if the infrared device option would be listed in the BIOS, but you should check it m

  • Qosmio G40 - Intel Turbo Memory issue on Windows 7

    The Intel Turbo Memory does not work in my Qosmio G40 Windows 7. I tried different ways to install the drivers but only the work of the Intel Matrix Storage Console.

    If I try to install the full Pakage Robson, the material remains marked as a problem in the Device Manager and the computer crashes every time he goes into mode 'sleep'.

    Is there a way around this, or should I disable this feature (which was working under Vista before)? thanx

    Hello

    This feature isn t so important because he doesn't make a strong performance gain, but in your case I would try to update the BIOS. Maybe it will work or let's say that the computer goes into mode 'sleep' correctly again. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site.

    What Intel driver, you have exactly? Have you tried the Toshiba site?

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F down arrow is triggered by itself

    Qosmio G40 - 10th down arrow seems to trigger by itself while booting and while I view web pages.

    The problem surface when I was accessing the web pages at the start of the screen to scroll down by himself.
    Before, I thought that the button may be pressed hard but when I looked at the issue through a senser key application to test what triggers the down arrow key press on and found that two or three other keys trigger arrow key down automatically.
    namely, in arrow, i key, key k, function keys.

    But when I press ESC or Page up/Page down, scrolling stops for a while but starts to make arrow down by itself again.

    I have re-installed and restored the entire operating system to the date of loading of the factory and the problem solved only for a few minutes and the issue is back.

    I am convinced that this is due to software problem and not a hardware problem, as the key works fine for a while and after a few minutes, begins to trigger arrow down permanently.

    Please advise,
    Thank you.

    Have you tried an external USB keyboard and then you have the same problem?

    I think that it s a hardware problem and the keyboard must be exchanged, but that before test with an external keyboard.
