Qosmio G40: Problem burning DVD-R HD

Hello

I have a problem with my G40 equipped with a reader of SD-L902a. In simple words: I can't burn HD DVD-R discs.

The disks I use are PHILIPS HD DVD-R (single side, 15 GB). The guy at the shop of media said there should be no problems with compatibility, because this SD-L902a is the ONLY hd - dvd burner on the market right now. It would be illogical for Philips sell records which are not compatible with anything, wouldn't it? ;-)

Anyway, I tried to use both Disc Creator of Toshiba and the new Nero 8.

Toshiba sweet, when I load the HD DVD-R in the drive, I see an icon with a sign saying: this disc can not be written. In the 'disc info' box in Nero it says it's an HD DVD-R, but the available size is 0 and I can not burn (it says "insert writable media").

I have 4 HD DVD-r and they all have the same... What plan you could be the problem?

Hello Tom

I think you are the first person with this problem and I'm really curious to know if anyone can offer any explanation. The fact is that this CURIOUS is the first designed for HD-DVD-R virgins.

Maybe the laser cannot be placed in the right position. You have problems, watch HD-DVD movies?

You should only use the firmware provided by Toshiba.

Have you tried a few different brands of media? Sometimes the burner just don't like some discs. If so, the only thing I can think of to try is to boot from a Linux Live USB and see if it can burn DVDs from a Linux program as k3b for burning. That solve a software problem (Windows).

What operating system do you use?

What brand of computer are you using (HP, Dell, etc.)? Have you spent at the web site of the manufacturer and installed the drivers from HP, Dell, support of any web site page? Sometimes drivers that Windows installs are not as effective - especially if you have recently upgraded to Windows 10.

There may be other factors, but we will need a lot more information in order to solve the deeper problems.

  • Qosmio G40 with HD - DVD burner against BlueRay

    This is my 1st post.

I just got my G40-127, and I wonder. Didn't the community of internatiolnal blow to HD - DVD on the sidewalk and go for Blue-Ray?

You is a way to get a Blue-Ray wrighter to my machine or has misunderstood this concept HD-DVD machines.

    Please set me straight. Any1.

Maybe you should take a look in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=34643

It is very interesting and useful publication created by Jeffrey.

The fact is that the CD/DVD drive in your G40 doesn t support only HD DVD but also to other formats. The ability of HD - DVD is only a part of this drive.
It is fully backward compatible and supports the standard DVD - RW SuperMulti (DL) too.
In addition, there are more than 800 movie titles available for the HD DVD format which can be played in G40.

In any case I didn t find any information on the availability of Blue ray discs in other Toshiba laptops. Who knows what will happen in the future

  • Qosmio G30: Cannot burn DVD after installing Vista

    Hello

I'll upgrade to Vista, but the problem is that there is no PILOT of RAM DVD!
What I ask is the following: -.

    1 at - it Web site that display all the drivers {for Toshiba}

2-if I was not installed this program, I could record DVDs?

    3. If there is a driver for it, I am glade he get you {vista}

Yes I forgot to mention 1 thing, my machine is QOSMIO G30!

    Best regards

    knk2006

    1. Yes, you can view all the drivers for your laptop model and the operating system on this page:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com (Support & downloads)

    2. I think there, like WinXP, already supported this, a base built into a program for recording discs, but I do not like he doesn't have many options. I suggest you try other programs like nero 3rd party

    3. normally, this DVD Ram driver should be included in Vista. Maybe you could try to use another program, as I mentioned above.

  • Problem burning DVD in Vista

HP Vista computer, I can burn a CD, a DVD - RW but not DVD - or + r.

Replaced the DVD writer same problem.

I tried 3 different burn progams, same problem.

When I look at the properties of the DVD burner, it shows all the typical media we can write, everything is there, DVD + and-, etc.

Uninstalled the drive in Device Manager, rebooted and I still have the same question.

He repeats just the incorrect media type is inserted.

I tried media Sony and HP of different types and capacities.

Could use a little advice on what to do next.

    Thank you

    Bob

    Thanks for the reply.

I was able to find the problem.

The person with the problem is one of my clients, so I went about their business, and took my own DVD RW +, - and.

    They all worked.

What is happening is the Manager was trying to write a DVD and he managed to use the 4 or 5 of each type, and when they're not working, there just to put back them on the spindle with the rest of them.

Of course when he handed me the DVD it says nothing about what he had done.

When you look at the media, that he used, was not that something had been written.

When I put media in the PC, he has no pop up of any indication that the DVD had data on it, in fact it did nothing.

After changing the display options and then I saw what appeared to be an attempt to make the bootable media and these files files 2 or 3 have been hidden.

In any case, I'm sorry I wasted your time, thanks again for the reply.

  • Problem burning DVDs. "Error in device - device target is not suitable for use.

    Hi all

Initially, I had many problems with PE8. However, the update of nVidia Driver resolved most of them.

Just thought it was important to note the success, but also failure!

However, one problem remains. I get the following error at the level of the mark of 96% when burning. "Error in device - device target is not suitable for use. It is always the mark of 96% and the program is "[something] compilation" when this happens.

After searching this site I noticed that the user rgferg posted a similar problem 13 days ago has been redirected to repost in a different place, but never did.

I tried to burn a clip 1 hour 4 times and each time I chose the slowest burning speed (8 MB/s), as suggested. It seems that the lower support is a culprit, so I bought some Verbatim DVD media - R [quality] try in my optical drive SATA Phillips. I'm skeptical it will work, but nevertheless open-minded. I'll give it a whirl when my computer has stopped capturing VHS, I train.

Whenever combustion not not the disc was ejected automatically and the burn process actually started and progresses maybe about 40% or more.

That tells me it's a question of sharing, rather than issue a support. Somewhere on this forum, he suggested that I go through a process of 20 stages and remove/disable each piece of software that can compete with the first, among other things. IF I do this what do I burn through the outside of Adobe? What I need imgburn or whatever it was called? What happens if I like Nero? Nero 6 has worked very well for me for 3 years.

So I am ready to uninstall my old optical drive burning software, who out there can recommend commercial software which, for them, creates a painless Adobe burning experience without errors or conflicts? Perhaps there is another solution that I've not seen on this forum?

I am running Windows XP SP3. I have the latest nVidia drivers for my cards SLI GeForce 7600 GS. I have 3 monitors. RAID 0 SATA, 2 GB RAM, Athlon X 2 5400.

    Justin.

Since you are apparently able to burn to a folder on your hard drive, but not directly on a DVD, the problem is most likely that another program (Nero, for example) is interfering with communications between Premiere Elements and your DVD burner. This is very common.

Rather than fight with it, the easiest solution is simply to burn your files on your hard drive and then use Nero (or whatever your burner program) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a playable disc. This process takes no more time and offers a number of advantages, including the fact that he make several copies of your DVDs very easy.

  • Qosmio G40: Problem with BT DUN connection

    Hello

I recently bought the new G40 and I try to use my iPaq HW6515 (with Windows Mobile 2003 SE) as a Bluetooth modem for her.

The problem is that the express installation detects only the PAN profile. When I use the custom installer, he sees the profile of dial-up, but when I try to put the modem (by default at COM40, but he tried it on another one), it is said that there is no modem installed.

After a few seconds, he set up the so-called Toshiba Software Modem (COM3), but after clicking on the button finish, he said still there is no modem installed on COM40. When I change the software Modem of Toshiba to COM40 he finished, but then when you try to dial the number is a message saying there is no signal dial.

Now, I did this sort of thing for a while now with lots of batteries Bluetooth and it has always worked well. iPaq itself installed as a Bluetooth Modem Standard and number without any problems...

The "Custom" Mode is set much lower. See the following Web site:
    http://APS.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/redirect.php?page=pages/HOWTO.html
to learn in detail how to set up.
In your case, you should look at the following document:

  • Qosmio G40 - problem with the use of 100% of the CPU

In recent weeks I have problem like describbed here: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=126670𞻎

Almost the same thing - my computer starts and works ok, but from time to time is frozen by Symantec Service Framwork and all other descriptions are the same.

"After having been inactive during these seconds, the cooling fan will start to operate at maximum power, creating a huge noise, that I never experienced before, not even while the CPU was operating at 100% for a while due to other programs." Force a reboot is all what I can do. »

Almost all accidents that this question was by NIS2008, but also Vista explorer.exe and fingerprinttray service or the service of the Index process.

I received a notice from the team of NIS that I get to use the new NIS09, and for sure that my machine is damaged - check it out here http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=6964&quer y.id = 22439 #M6964

I called the Service, which has changed the ATV and CPU - I changed to NIS09 after, a few weeks was good, but now the problem back - in the last two weeks twice. (I observe that starts about 5 minutes after download of updates to NIS (I know cos NIS 09 indicator of that time).)

One change - Vista is able to kill that process damaged (Admins have no right to do), starts the process of WeAreFault, which sends information on crash for MS - after about 15 min computer starts to work properly without reboot... so I think that a problem is somwhere on the line between Toshiba and Norton, cos repair also change in behaviour of the machine - is now using work not CPU around 20% - before was 50 to 70% and 100% of crash. Norton is also, but must for this.

    Does anyone have a conclusion?

Generally, I don't like Norton because he needs as many resources and make the laptop lazy. On the net, you can find very good alternative applications.
Have you tested how the laptop works after removing the NIS?

When you try to burn a DVD from Director of windows, he arrives at 2.4% of the coding and then stops and gives the following error message:

Two possibilities come to mind, is an essential Codec you are missing or if you have a defective Codec installed.

Look for defective Codecs in MOVIE Maker via the Tools / Options / Compatibility tab.  Remove all entries except the AVI compressor.  See if you get more than 2.4 percent.

Rule out the possibility of miss some relevant Codecs, discover and download and install something like that and test again.
