• Deleted topics that... won't erase

  I work to reduce the number of topics we have in our 3000 + by taking a large number of very small subjects and adding the text of their share in a great subject with bookmarks. However, as I was working on this yesterday, RoboHelp broke on me and when I relauched it, everything that I worked an a was drizzled in pretty bad.

  Here is my method for this compilation:

  1 create a new topic.

  2 cut and paste the individual text of each of the small subjects in the new great topic.

  3. create a bookmark for each of the elements in the large new topic.

  4 remove the files small topic.

  5. set all links broken for new bookmarks in the new subject large file.

  I had about enough step 4 when RoboHelp stopped on me without warning. Now, nearly half small topics deleted reappeared and the other half are removed, but are appearing in the list of topics with a red X through them and I can't seem to go in.

  I tried to restore before the crash, but that has not helped at all. I also deleted the project locally and reloaded in RoboHelp and once again, no luck.

  I tried to delete these topics of RoboSource Control, remove them from my C drive and doing a Get Latest Version everything and generate a main page layout after each step to see if these subjects really would be delete, but alas, they have simply not disappear in my project manager. When I try to delete them, I get the popup asking about removing references to other files, but after choosing my answer, nothing happens, and the subject does not disappear.

  I did the same 5 steps in a different project and when RoboHelp does not plant, I don't have any problems.

  Any guidance you have would be appreciated!

  I had this happen also. The way I solved it is to edit the file .fpj with a text tool like Notepad and hand delete topics. The fpj file contains a list of all the topics that are expected in the folder and when RoboHelp plant it doesn't have a chance to do this clean up. The file is named .fpj (folder_name) If you have topics in a folder. If the topics are in the main directory, the file is named root.fpj. I hope this helps.

  I have a RoboHelp HTML project that I use to generate the CHMS for 4 different applications. I use conditional tags to define what topics to include/exclude each CHM. It worked well in RoboHelp 5, but I research with RoboHelp 7 problems.
  
  When I search in the compiled CHM results include the titles of the topics that have been specifically exculded CHM by tags, but also topics that are not part of this project at all. I've never merged one of my projects.
  
  I tried all of the suggestions I found on this site:
  * checked that there are no stray CHM file in the project folder
  * renamed and regenerated the PCD file
  * creates a new SSL file
  * editing the registry to remove the option that prevents the appearance of external link warning
  * check the XPJ file mergehelp file.
  
  I also installed the utility KeyTools someone suggested. When I look in the CHM file, I can see the subjects which should not be in this file - but I have no idea how they got there or how to stop their appearance.
  
  Please, please someone at - it suggestions - I can't think of anything to try.
  
  
  

  I searched for each CHM I have ever produced and deleted everything that have been stored in any folder that RoboHelp knew. The new CHM has always had the same problem.

  Finally a colleague who knows nothing on RoboHelp, but who has been listening to my growing frustration suggested I rename the top-level folder with all old topics are listed wrongly. To my great relief, it worked, but I can't help but think that it is a bug in RoboHelp 7.

  Recently, I moved a large number of emails (filtered by sender) in a new folder I created in Thunderbird.
  The emails themselves arranged in threads that are independent of any discernible factor. Some e-mails with 7 years in dfference are strung together. Also, date / reception function triage is not properly sort, IE the new emails are not at both ends of the sort, nor in the nets. Once again, no visible trend.
  I checked on gmail, where emails are hosted, and none of these issues is apparent.
  It's important questions to find emails, especially since when I enter a search term in the filter and it has no result, but then generate results when I use the search function.

  OK, right click on the folder, select properties and then repair. Just in case that helps.

  Is there a way to prevent the following information on a subject, when the subject is printed directly from a .chm:
  
  1 < under the heading > (e.g., "use the help system" it is left-justified and appears at the top of each page.)
  2. the Page < X > on < Y > (for example, "Page 1 of 4" this is right-justified and appears at the top of each page.)
  3 < heading way > (for example, "mk:@MSITStore:C:\Folder\Project%20Folder\Project.chm::/...) ("This is left-justified and appears at the bottom of each page).
  4 < print date > (for example, "12/21/2006" this is right-justified and appears at the bottom of each page.)
  
  This information appears regardless of the type of printer, including when I "print" to PDF.
  
  I saw another post here that discusses using style sheets to hide the footer and header information when you view a topic in the .chm file, but then the display when the subject is printed. Perhaps there is a way to use a style sheet to remove the impression of this info?
  
  Note: My deliverable requires that I be able to print from the .chm so generate printed doc of the project is not an option. If there isn't a way to accomplish what I have described above, I'll just keep these topics in MS Word format and include them in the .chm file by adding them to the baggage files.

  To avoid that the footer and header information appear on a topic that is printed, follow these steps:

  1. open Internet Explorer.
  2. click on file> layout.... A layout dialog box appears.
  3. remove the following header field codes: & w & sub-areas & p of & P
  4. remove the following codes on the ground of footer : & u & b & d
  5. click on OK. The layout dialog box closes.
  6 print the topic. The section prints without the title, page numbers, URLS and print date in the header and footer. Note: If your .chm file is already open, you don't need to close it and reopen it to make these changes take effect.

  You can click with the right button on the e-mail toolbar, select Customize, find the Delete button and drag it to the toolbar.
  You can activate the message pane by using the F8 key and use this header button.
  You can right-click on the message and select Remove.
  You can also use the Delete on your keyboard key.

  To select the messages you use standard Windows selection methods.
  Hold down the control key while clicking on messages to select random messages.

  Hi, I'm looking for a folder action script to move files that are older than 30 days of my 'NEW' file to: files volumes, NEW to my 'OLD' files folder: files/volumes/OLD folder.  I searched and found only the scripts to remove old files using the 'update' for the files info. Any help is appreciated.

  I have no problem printing photos that are attachments to emails, but I can't find a way to print a photo that has been integrated into an email.

  Who would know how a computer works and is not a problem of Thunderbird.
  When you save the file, save it somewhere where you can find it. Then in Picasa, you go to that location and open the file.
  Windows provides a folder my pictures or office is easy to find.

  In the Add-ons Manager I see that I have 13 plugins that are DISABLED. 2 of them are Java vulnerability.

  They are active, most likely in Firefox. Especially things like Flash and silverlight. As a guest post Thunderbird doesn't allow plugins and pose a risk to security. But as they are already installed, they are disabled by default.

  It's just like you only have to install a printer once and see all applications. Then you try and remove paint because you do not use a printer it is.
