Question about DBA_EXTENTS BLOCKS

My partitioned table has the following attributes:

INITIAL_EXTENT = 50 MB

NEXT_EXTENT = 10 MB

PCT_INCREASE = 0

My DB_BLOCK_SIZE is 8 KB

But when I check on the DBA_EXTENTS, the number of blocks for a measurement allocated to each partition in this table is 2560 blocks.

Why is it so? I expect only 1280 (since 10 MB / 8 KB = 1280)

Could you help me to explain? It seems that the next step to allocate 20 MB when in fact the next_extent as seen in DBA_SEGMENTS is 10 MB.

Looks like you tablespace is defined with uniform extents of 20 MB, then.

For a segment in this tablespace that oracle will then use the original, and the value of min_extents to calculate the initial size of the segment, then allow the number of uniform extensions meets this requirement.

You can use "select dbms_metadata.get_ddl ('TABLESPACE', 'XXXX') from dual;" to rebuild the tablespace definition

  • Question about data block address (DBA)

    Hi all

The disk block has its own s/n (data block address) and when it is read into the buffer cache, he has a memory address (I'm just guessing).
If my assumption is correct, the DBA and memory address have any relationship, i.e. a mechinsm of mapping?

    Best regards
    Leon

    Laughing out loud
There is NO relationship between the address of a block on the disk (the file / block number) and address when it is in memory. Keep in mind, first, that there could be several copies a block of memory.

By 'relationship', I mean that you can not say "because this block disk address is X the memory address is there.
There is a relationship between the address block and 'cache buffers chain' that the block will be associated with - and that's how Oracle knows how to find the block of memory, he knows what channel it should be, so he goes to the beginning of the relevant channel and starts walking he controls each link in the chain for the right version of the block on the right. (The string is a list of related entries of x$ bh, of course, not a linked list of actual copies of blocks).

  • Satellite L650-11R - a few questions about this

    Hello there :-)

I have a few questions about my new L650.

I've never had Toshiba notebook before so I apologize if some of these "quirks" are actually quite normal on this laptop. I really want to hear the views of other users L650.

    1)
First of all, by the time I turned it on I saw gradient thin (1-2 mm) along the right edge of the screen that goes from the bottom up. Maybe "degraded" isn't the right word, but it seems that since two or three pixels are kind of discoloration or lose brightness/sharpness to the edge along the straight bezel. It is not really that visible, looks like the colors are desaturated a bit here or brightness is a bit lacking. He can be seen everywhere (bios or no color in Windows, but better in the lighter background).
The left side (or other) seems ok, all this along the right edge is somewhat suspicious. If one can compare? I don't know if it's something to worry about or is just supposed to be like that.

    2)
The other thing I noticed heating of the processor (Intel i3 330M) and GPU (ATi Mobility Radeon 5650). It's pretty hot here right now (I would say that the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius when using cell phones). He is sitting on the hard surface (table) and nothing is blocking the vents.
However, at "rest" (surf the web & regular light stuff), average CPU temp hovers around 58 ° C. It usually goes from 45 to 62 in just a few minutes after starting, and then I can hear and see (Toshiba PC Health Monitor) evacuate the kicks in. Temp goes back to 50 +, event stops and then the temp rises to 60 + until the vent is used again.
During load full (Prime95 or some games), CPU is going all the way up to 75 degrees (the highest being 77). Fan runs at 75 to 77% during this time, never go faster.

GPU idling is usually around 5 degrees above temp CPU (62-65). During full load (for example. Benchmark of Far Cry 2), I see a lot of stuttering with the latest drivers Catalyst and DX10 (not sure if the stuttering has something to do with heat), otherwise it is ok (no artifacts or anything like that). Temp of GPU during the loading goes up to 74-75, fan speed is locked at 30%, the frequency of the heart 5650 is 450 MHz. left side of the laptop (vent and below) is pretty hot, while the keyboard is warm (or slightly warmer who who).

These time seems correct and safe in the long term? I'd rather events works all the time (they aren't really very strong) and keeping time less than 50, but there are just wishful pious bios control events and I can't control not the bios. :-)

    3)
This is just General related products. :-)
Official specifications of Toshiba L650 say ATi 5650 (between other low range GPU), but I saw a few specifications calling for there 5730 (same model 11R). Is there really a Satellite L650 with ATi 5730 GPU models?

Sorry for the long post, I tried to include the best possible description that I could do. :-)

    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the additional info!

  • Question about cloud connectors

We try to create a cloud to Eloqua connector. I read the CloudConnectorSampleGuide. I have a few questions about the expected data models and models of general implementation.

Configuration of the connector of the cloud

    • The CC stores the identification information for each configured CC step Eloquya Eloqua?
      • What are the guidelines for the safe password storage? (I can't store the passwords as dirty one-way-hash that I need the password during execution.  The two-way hash gives an illusion of security but is not better than the plaintext).
    • When the CC is configured, where credentials should take place between the 1st and the 2nd screen? (i.e. as a hidden form field, session cookie cookie/etc.)
    • Eloqua warns the CC when a step is deleted?

    Cloud connector performance

    • What is the average number of steps configured Single that manages the CC?
    • Is it possible for a CC to have 1000 s and unique not configured to query?
    • What are the guidelines for scalability when the connector has to travel 1000 steps configured and survey? The CC requires a worker architecture to manage a large number of configured steps?
    • Are there best practices around the CC recovery hangs
      • For example: CC acquires the State waiting for members and moves to the current State. The CC blocks before the end of the stage. What is the approach suggested for

recovery of the tasks in the current handling during recovery state? (assuming I have multiple instances of CC of the Eloqua poll). Is the connector of cloud supposed to maintain States of WIP to manage recovery correctly?

Dmitry, once again, it is entirely to the developer.  When you add contacts to a stage, they will be processed in batches.  There is no limit to how much you add, and since they are left to step up to that dealt with by the connector, how long they sit depends on how long your connector takes to do its job.  Expectations, of course the faster you can deal with the best.

  • The specific question about the placement of an image into text.

Hello, I had a question about the placement of an image into text.

I did the contours to create text to place the image inside. My text is 5 words and two lines inside the box.

When I do create contours he gives me 2 transparent route separate layers for the top and the bottom line.

How will I be able to do that in a single layer of compound to place image that expands to the two lines?

First of all, there are two ways of describing the type. The default value creates anchored objects. You want a separate object, so hold down the Option/Alt key when you create outlines. Drag the new contours to separate the text block.

It is useful to open the layers panel and view the contents of the layer. You have created a group which consists of two transparent traces. In the layers panel, expand the layer so you can see the structure. Shift-select the two transparent traces. (Make sure that the group is not selected.)

Then choose object > tracks > make a compound path. This makes the two transparent tracks into one. Then, you can place or paste into the single compound path.

  • Questions about tables in text boxes

When I convert the text to a table, there is a small space between the text block and the table. I have two questions about this:

    1. Is it possible to remove this gap? I put the text block options set spacing to 0 and gutter to 0 and spacing of table before and after to 0.
    2. Is it possible to create a table that is not in a block of text, especially when converting text to a table?

Attached is a few screenshots that I hope will be useful. In the first image, East of the limit of the framework text in magenta and the structure of the table is in light blue. The gap between the blue magenta and light vertical lines on the left, that's what I want to remove.

Tables are always in a text frame, and in fact, they are part of a paragraph, so I would check the assigned to this paragraph paragraph style and see if there is a left indent applied, or perhaps a paragraph alignment is set to something other than the left.

  • A question about clusters

    Hello

I have a question about the single table hash clusters. How are these paintings in a position to provide better performance? Any block can contain data from a single table, and here was the only cluster table will also create blocks with data from a table. So how or why is it more effective? I am not unclear on the concept plan and will be grateful for the info.

I did it - but the concept is what I'm looking for. The test case proves that there are benefits. but my question is why the profit returns. It's what I'm not very clearly.

    The benefit is provided
    (1) exercise you some control over the way in which the data are filled in the table
    2) most of your questions is a 'SELECT col1, col2,... '. "Col WHERE = "
    (3) the number of values unique 'col' is fairly constant
The common approach in the situation described above is to create an index on 'col' so that applications may perform better.
But even with the indexes in place, oracle will need to access the blocks of two segments, index and table, in order to process the requests (of the type described in step (2) above).
When you create the table in a hash TABLE UNIQUE cluster, you can get the grouping of the data in the table itself, without the need of an index. Oracle will have access to the only segment (cluster) blocks to process requests (of the type described in step (2) above).
The result is much less number of consistent gets for queries of the type described in step (2) above, resulting in better use of the buffer cache, which improves performance.
    I hope this helps.

  • A question about the order of COLUMN sqlplus and PL/SQL

    Hello everyone.

I would like to ask a question about sqlplus command COLUMN that I use in order to define the length of my queries of output columns. So, for example, I run something like:
    COLUMN market FORMAT a20
That is why any column with the name 'the market' will be composed by sqlplus as 20 characters.

Currently I'm working on a PL/SQL script that makes this automatic procedure, in other words, instead of manually write for each column in the above COLUMN order, it uses the DBMS_SQL. He read first as input the name of the table and then inside a loop, it detects the maximum length.

For those interested, here is the Oracle documentation page that I found (example 8)
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/AppDev.102/b14258/d_sql.htm

If everything worked well enough I managed to recover the maximum of each column in my table length, except that I don't know how to use the COLUMN sqlplus command in my PL/SQL block. I would like to do something like that (it's just a pseudo-code)
FOR colIndex in 1 .. numberOfColumns LOOP
            currentColumnName = getColumnName(tableDescriptionObject, colIndex);
            currentColumnLength = getColumnLength(tableDescriptionObject, colIndex);

COLUMN  currentColumnName FORMAT a -- and here after 'FORMAT a' I have to write currentColumnLenth but I don't know how to proceed.

    END LOOP;
I would like to know is there a command in PL/SQL to define the appropriate column typeset in sqlplus length?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dariyoosh

    Hi, Dariyoosh,

Sory, I don't think that there is a simple way to publish SQL * most orders fom PL/SQL.
PL/SQL runs in the database (back-end); There isn't any direct contact with SQL * more at the front end.

The best way I know is that PL/SQL script (myfile.sql) with orders of the COLUMN, and then have SQL * more run the script (@myfile).

I just ordered a HP 50 g graphic calculator! I have a few questions about this so hang on tight! What is the USB connector on the calculator? Mini-USB, micro USB, or is it a connector owner, "custom". Then, it would be possible to connect a keyboard to the HP 50 g by using the USB Port? Is there a program that would make this possible? (I doubt it would work if you plug it..) I have a Mini-USB to female USB 2.0 connector. So I could just plug the keyboard right, provided that the port on the calculator is a Mini-USB Port. If this is not so that I could use my female to female USB adaptor to connect the keyboard.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

For new models of laptops the RAM upgrade described in s operating manuals. It is public act and it shows the owner of the notebook how do RAM upgrade only.

If Toshiba offers something like this he won't have the negative influence of valid warranty.
Buy a compatible module and RAM upgrade.

    Hello

I am about to order a Satellite P300 - 18 M and have just a few questions about this:

(Although these may apply for other similar Satellite/Equium P300.)

Is the touchpad made by / to use the Alps or Synaptics driver?

It has the Wireless N network card, is the map made by Intel or Realtec?

And also, someone has experience with face recognition software to connect?

If so, does it take a lot of time to initalise?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jack

    Hello

The P300 - 18M belongs to the PSPCCE series.
It uses the two touchpad drivers. Synaptics & Alps Electric
There is an Intel 802.11agn minicards WLan installed

The face recognition is a nice tool but local to be illuminated and you must take your face the right of the post sometimes it of not very easy

But if you face is recognized correctly that the connection should work properly
