Question about reinstalling Windows Vista Basic on a netbook.

Hello Microsoft forums...

Can someone guide me please a guide on reinstalling Vista Basic on a netbook?  I have no support discs, only USB ports, as on most netbooks.  Is it possible to make a player flash or something to that extent?

Thank you very much.

Contact the manufacturer of Netbook on this subject.

Alternatively, ask their Support Forums.

  • Questions about reinstalling Windows XP after the end of Support

Several members of the family of my friends that I sometimes provide technical assistance for are still under XP SP3 on their systems.  These systems are too outdated and underpowered to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, and it will probably be some time until they are able to upgrade to a more recent hardware capable of running most modern versions of Windows.

If in the meantime, something happens to one of their computers requiring a reinstall of Windows after support for XP purposes, but before they can get a newer computer, I have a few questions about what will happen:

    1. Is there still a way to activate their existing copies of XP during installation process?
    2. While I understand that new patches, updates, patches & will be is no longer provided, existing patches will be available through the Microsoft Update service so that I would be able to get those computers to update state that they would be about to XP supported ends, or do I have to search elsewhere to try & find these updates?  (It would be nice if Microsoft put up a cumulative update that would be sort of a mega-patch for people in this situation to be able to get back to the most current state systems, but I would not be surprised if there wasn't such a thing).

Anyone know the answers to these questions?

    Thank you

You should be able to clean install and activate Windows XP.  You should be able to upgrade as well, even if the wise move would be to get the updates stored on portable media or integrated into a multimedia installation (or both) as soon as POSSIBLE if the plan is to continue using Windows XP for a while.

My suggestion is to set up and to buy Windows 7 Professional renovated systems / lease from places like TigerDirect.com - as pricing is generally about the same as just a license for Windows 7 or a little professional, the hardware specifications of these machines are likely machines Windows XP current in use, using something like the PC Mover take care of Laplink and Microsoft to move files (or for the more than 25 USD the) applications that can be moved as well) to the new system of the former is possible, and Windows 7 will get updated until 2020.

Recently research I've seen systems to Windows 7 Professional for as little as 150 USD with 4 GB of memory and dual core processors.  Not bad.

  • Re: Questions about reinstalling Windows XP

    Hello...
I have a portable satellite, and I must confess that I do not understand why everything should be formatted when reinstalling the system.
I have several questions if someone could help please.

Is it possible to reinstall Windows without losing programs installed?
If I use the restore CD, all partitions will be deleted or only C:?

    Thank you very much!!

    > Is it possible to reinstall Windows without losing programs installed?
No, because programs written entries in the Windows registry and sometimes in the Windows folder.
If you need to reinstall all programs after reinstallation of Windows.

    > If I use the restore CD, all partitions will be deleted or only C:?
If you use the recovery disk will be formatted the whole HARD drive then back up your data first.
After reinstalling Windows, you save your data on the HARD disk again.

  • Re: Satellite A200: Question about the Windows Vista serial key

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and I doubt, in everest, I can see the key of Windows Vista, but it's different to the Windows key in the tile to the bottom of the laptop.
I change anything in the laptop because I bought, I have use once the recovery cd, but I have not a pirate key or something like that.

    Why this different key?

    Post edited by: Admin

I agree with the user above.
The serial key you will find at the bottom of the device is not similar to the serial key that can be read using a few 3rd party applications!

But you don t need such series on your Toshiba laptop key.
The restore CD contains an image of Toshiba which is already activated!

  • Question about reinstalling Windows after virus/malware crashed the system

OK, I'm not exactly super tech savvy but I can manage.  Here's my dilemma.  I clicked a bad link in a Yahoo search and started getting all sorts of flashing messages that my laptop has been infected.  The next thing I know... Windows (I have Vista) crashed and does not now.

Question #1 - so... can I spend $85 and make it my buddy to the computer to reinstall Vista... or can I invest in upgrading to Windows 7?

Question #2-si I do it myself, can I just go ahead an installation of Windows 7 since I have no operating system on it because Vista won't load?

I'd appreciate any help I can get with that.  I really think that whatever it is, I would be smart to buy Windows so I have to drive since it is not come with the laptop or my all-in-one.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello

If necessary, you can record all necessary data (files) by putting the hard drive as 2nd in another computer
or in an external box and copy of the data on the removable memory (CD, DVD, USB key or)
    others).

The physical disks in Vista can be purchased cheaply system machine since you already own windows.
Ask them about Windows 7 as they could also make a case here. Normally, it would be more advantageous for you
to buy the disks of Vista and then upgrade to Windows 7 (unless the system manufacturer has a special offer).
Before upgrade you to Windows 7 make sure that the system and the software will run you on it.

To run the Upgrade Advisor you will need Vista work. Check with your system manufacturer support
and/or support of any specific manufacturer of the device to make sure the drivers are available for your system.

    Also check the Compatibility Center

    I hope this helps.

  • I accidently reinstalled Windows Vista Basic, but is my key for Home Premium. What can I do?

I reinstalled Vista Home Basic, but had originally Vista Edition Home Premium and I have the product key for activation only for premium... Help?

    original title: computer a buggy.

No - it can't happen because the original installation is not enabled, it cannot use Anytime Upgrade to install the correct key - and an OEM key will only accept a custom installation and clean.

    @Adrienne

You need to reinstall using the manufacturer's recovery disks - if you don't have a game, then you can order them from the manufacturer's website.

Note that this will wipe all data current (again) - so back to external media first.

  • relocation of the agars recovery on computer laptop girls. Windows Vista Basic. Will not install correctly.

Had to reinstall Windows Vista Basic on my laptop now girls probably 4 or 5 times over the past year.  A question is we get full and you get to a screen that says not to interrupt and cela will take a few minutes, which, on an attempt, I let it run all night and never went.  Finally, just let it load and put an end to the function and let him simply use the laptop.  Then after a few moments to use his laptop begins to freeze.  So, I have to go and try to reinstall its OS.

If you restore so frequently, or at all, someone is something fundimentally incorrect and visit places / download infected files.

Recover PC to factory specifications, winupdate turn off "recommended updates", but allow critical updates. Consult the manufacturer of your laptop and see if there are recommended updates shown there.

Install a decent Anti Virus, MS Security Essentials is free. Do this before you install any programs or connect to the scocial network sites

  • Re: Questions about reinstalling Vista on Satellite U200 - 10K

    Hello, friends.

I have a few questions and enjoy using.

How many times can I reinstall Windows Vista, using a CD of resuscitation I've got with my U200 - 10 K?

    What can I do?

    Thanks for help.
    Alexander.

I assume you mean on the Toshiba Vista recovery CD. Am I wrong?
Well, the fact is that this CD is not similar to the original CD of Microsoft Vista. The restore CD contains only the image of the OS. The image is a Pack that included BONES, drivers and additional software.

Finally, you should know that you can use this CD to restore with no limit, until he dies ;)

    Hey birch_2526

There is no link of free and legal link for you to download vista basic to reinstall

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a set of vista recovery disc

they do it for a nominal cost

and also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to reinstall vista basic to how you bought your computer

that will save you money if you don't have a recovery partition

your hard drive will be wiped clean of everything during the resettlement process

    Back up all your data

Read how to do this in the link below

  • I want to reinstall Windows Vista, but I do not have a disk when I bought the laptop; I don't have product key, however; What should I do?

My old laptop is now very slow performance, no doubt because it is hopelessly cluttered with unwanted stuff, viruses etc.. So I have tried various methods of cleaning without success, I decided to reformat (all data on it has been transferred to a new laptop) and start from scratch by reinstalling Windows Vista Home (installed when I bought it). But no installation disc has been delivered, although the product no key. is located on the underside of the laptop. What should I do? I could ring you, but I don't have a land line, and a long call on my cell phone would probably cost a fortune. It would be great if you were ringing me to talk me through the process (07760 101610)

    Greetings - Graham Durbin

    Hello

Sorry, this is not Microsoft and we don't do phone calls that we are for the most part, Windows users help each other here...

Here are the different ways that you can reinstall Vista.

See which is more easy for you.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '
