Question about Satellite A50 - 542 and new hard drive

A50 - 542 my hard drive just crashed. I am looking for a 60 GB hard drive to replace it. Which hard drive would be compatible with this model?

See you soon,.
Nauzad

Hi mate,

you need a disk IDE because only this one fits into your machine (there are new standard SATA with two long hard disk connectors and the IDE from an old 40-pin at the back of the HARD drive)

The best choice would be a disc toshiba or something of hitachi, since they are very good brands. I say take some readers with 100 or 120 gigabytes of capacity.

Welcome them

  • Satellite Pro 2100 and new hard drive

    Hello

I saw on another post that L0nestar has installed a Western Digital WD2500BEVE (250 GB, 5400 RPM) in a Pro 2100.
The question I have is what the interface is SATA or EIDE? The original drive indicates it is a SATA interface, but the WD2500BEVE is an EIDE interface?

Hope someone can clear this up for me.

    See you soon.

AFAIK all older models of laptops have hard drives with interface EIDE. Satellite Pro 2100 comes with disk HARD Enhanced IDE (ATA-5).

  • noobie question about 2 guest OS and virtual HARD disk 1

I want to know if this is possible and what possible impact, it may cause, as appropriate.

    Set up:

2 Guest OS in VMware, both using different drives virtual of course since you cannot use the same operating system file invited on multiple instances.

Then I set up another virtual HARD drive, lets call it SharedMyDrive, and this HARD drive will contain all my data and programs.

Can I do both guest OS use this SharedMyDrive? (Should be possible with the options of parameters allowing to add more hard drives) but then my question is; How are the data in this manipulated shared HARD drive?

If I turn both the OS and both of them make changes in SharedMyDrive, it's just a matter of who makes changes that records everything first? It would cause windows errors such as messages "this file is already in use" if I try to delete a file on OS1, but its use in OS2?

In order to use shared storage, you need an operating system that is aware of this and handle it correctly. ESXi is an example of such operating system. Access to the same storage operating system that cannot manage shared access causes data corruption.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - new HARD drive but no recovery disk

I need help for my son who is the Satellite Pro C660 1LR laptop.

In this portable hard drive is completely dead, I have not created a disk of recovery for this system of portable computers.
I bought a new hard drive that is installed... However, as you guessed it I have no access to reinstall an OS, this laptop works on windows 7.

I'm not really tech savvy so if someone can advise me please do explain to the fool proof format! I try to avoid having to buy something expensive.

    > I'm trying to avoid having to buy something expensive.
Problem is that you don't have many options in this regard.
If you want to have the factory again settings you must install recovery disc. You can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx of course is not free, but, in my opinion, without a doubt the best solution.

You can buy the Microsoft installation disc and install the clean version. You must purchase a valid license for it.
In this case, you must install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for more than one by one.

Just in case you can get this installation of Microsoft and the free license you can save money.

Believe me, the best solution is the original recovery disk command.

  • Satellite a210-171 needs new HARD drive

I took the laptop to the computer repair shop, they want to charge me £100 to replace the HDD with a 500 GB one and reinstall windows. I am not satisfied with the service, the length of time necessary to diagnose the problem or the price then I refused to let them fix it. It took 3 days to identify the problem and more they can not even give me a quote until they had installed the new hard drive!

Is it easy enough for me to replace the HARD drive? I don't really know where he is, than only what disk HARD buy! I have the original recovery disk, it will load everything once I have replace the HARD drive?

  • Satellite 3000-100: need new HARD drive

    Hello

I am looking for a new HARD drive for my laptop.

I've already tired 3 different (2xHiachi, 1xToshiba MK2023GAS) HARD drives, but the Bios (latest Version 2.40) could not detect them.

Nobody knows that suits HARD drive?

    Thank you

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite 3000-100 supports an Enhanced IDE Ultra DMA66/100 interface.
Therefore, use this HARD drive interface compatible hard drives.

The 20 GB HARD drive should be compatible due to the fact that this device was equipped with a 20 GB HARD drive too.

I discovered that these drives may be supported:
    PA3100U 15 GB HDD-modular
PA3101U modular HARD 30 GB disk

Try simply google for this part numbers and you should get a few hits.

  • Satellite A100 - 551 (PSAA2E) - new HARD drive freeze computer

    Hello

Sorry for my bad English, I'm french.

I have a Satellite A100-551 and original 80 GB SATA HARD disk is dead. It works enough, but there are a lot of mistakes on its surface and the pc go very slow!
    So, I buy another drive.
    This one: [samsung 250 GB | http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Composants/showdetl.cfm?product_id=422226&option=1]

I have install on the pc but when I start the pc freeze.
At startup, there is a moment where a normal message saying that I can access the F2 BIOS with a progressbar for loading.

The freezing of progressbar and nothing else has add.
If I press F2 nothing adds.
    I can't do nothing.

Is it possible to get started with my new HARD drive?

Is there some hard drive not recommended?

    Thanks for your replies.

Strange, but perhaps the new HARD drive is defective or not compatible with your laptop.
Have you tested the new HARD drive in a laptop or in an external HARD drive enclosure? It work?

You can go into the BIOS without HARD drive?
    Check it!

In your case I would use check the HARD drive in another laptop first, and then maybe you should try another of your laptop HARD drive.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L450 - install the new hard drive

Hi, I hope someone can help, I have a Satellite L450, which has windows 7 preloaded on it. However, the hard drive became corrupt and unable to use, unfortunately I never backed up anything.
Can I buy a new hard drive and install it? If yes how to operate as I no o/s on cd?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi 4ordie,

Of course, you can replace the HARD drive that s no problem. Replace HARD drive has 5 or 10 minutes and you can do it yourself because it s not very complicated.

New drive HARD doesn t contain all the files and you will need to install the operating system and all the drivers yourself but I m wondering why you don t have an installation disc (recovery). It s clearliy mentioned in the manual how to do this.

In any case, no, you can order a Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings:

    Hello

You can not replace the HARD disk controller.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

But are you sure you bought a good HDD?

I bought a new hard drive for my laptop. After installing it, I didn't get the message none found a fixed drive. I updated the bios from the Toshiba site and the same message is still there.

I also tried the drive in another laptop. It has been recognized correctly, so I formatted one installed Windows XP Pro top. So I put XP disc in it starts the installation starts to transfer files and doesn't give the message no hard drive found so it still does not find the hard drive.

    Please can someone help?

    Ken

    Hi Ken

It would be nice to know the name of cell exactly.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive due to the size of the HARD drive.

It would be very interesting to know if the HARD disk is compatible with this laptop and supported

    Hello

SATA-III was introduced in Sandy Bridge chipset (Intel with the 2nd generation 6 series I have Core CPU).

You can install a diagnostic software hardware such as Sandra Software or Everest Home Edition for all the info on the hardware installed in your laptop.

  • Satellite L750-16Z, bigger new HARD drive need

Now I need to buy a new internal HDD for my laptop and I would like to buy one that is at least 1 TB. What is the maximum capacity drive that I buy for this laptop and are there restrictions on manufacturers/brands should I buy? Are there good internet sources for this?

Also, I imagine that most portable hard drives are SATA now.

Thanks a lot for any advice.

No one answered it in 2015. Nobody knows the answer please?

Is a 1 TB SATA HDD good for my laptop model (Satellite-L750-16Z)? Can I get a bigger car? Is SATA the right one?

  • Satellite C660 - need a new hard drive, but which?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1f1 run windows 7 64-bit. 320GB hard drive there and I want to replace preferably with greater capacity, a but I'm not sure what would be appropriate.

    Anyone has any suggestions please?

    Hello

Satellite C660, but also other models of notebooks to new generation supports the SATA controller, which means that you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The size of the HARD disk is not relevant for the compatibility of the devices. This means that you can use HDD of 250 GB, 500GB etc.

But I wouldn't take a HARD drive for an upgrade. I would choose an SSD. This SSD drive is more expensive but believe me; It of certainly worth taking a SSD instead of HARD drive.
You will get great performance gain. This SSD drive is also very quiet.

Maybe it s best option for you

  • Question about the use of foil with HARD drive

    Hi all
Please can someone tell me what a sheet of aluminum covering the hard drive for laptop for?
    I guessed that it's temperature.
But some information I found says the opposite.

    "
My Seagate hard drive hot enough during long extensions CD writing/Back Up...
    Everyone recommends the use
the foil of Food Grade to dissipiate heat?
In my experience, things hot wraped in paper Aluminium gets cooled quite quickly... »

My old man was a problem of partition table, I got a new and reluctant to cover it with a sheet.

What do you think about this?

    Sombatk

    Hello

I have replaced several hard drives on some laptops but I have never used any further papers of aluminum and I have no problem with the temperature.
In my opinion, it is not necessary.
The cooling modules must be able to manage the temperature of the HARD drive.
