Question about switching from XP pro to Vista on a Tecra A9 - 102

Hi can anyone help... I am looking to buy a laptop Tecra (probably A9-102) with Windows XP Pro already installed, but I'm wanting to be sure, I can't be upgraded to Windows Vista in the future?

Hello

If you see the Toshiba download under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com support page & downloads you will see that Tecra A9 is supported in Vista and everything you need for Vista you can download here.

Because of this, you can buy this laptop model and enjoy WXP or Vista operating system.

can I switch from 32-bit win vista home prem 64-bit win vista home prem?

Yes, you can, but you need to back up and do a custom installation. There is no place on the way to upgrade from Windows Vista 32 bit to 64 bit.

Installation and relocation of Windows Vista
Back up your files - Microsoft Corporation: software, Smartphones...

Boot from the Windows Vista DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows Vista click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Can I switch from Acrobat Pro 11 DC Pro?

    Hey marcp30425730,

If you are using a subscription cloud creative or Acrobat XI, then you will get a free update to Acrobat DC.

You can install and activate the subscription DC Acrobat on your machine using the same Adobe ID credentials.

On the other hand, if you have Acrobat Pro XI, you can not use the same serial key to activate Acrobat DC.

You must purchase a separate license for the DC version, but you will qualify for a reduced price when you purchase the perpetual license.

Hope this information helps you. Let me know if you have other queries.

    I would definitely you help.

  • Question about the use of recovery disks Vista Bus on T500 with XP Pro downgraded

I searched to see if this has been addressed already and I don't see anything about it. I also looked through the Lenovo support site and could not find any documentation with specific information, that I'm looking. So, if all goes well, the people here will have an idea.

I have a T500 which was ordered with retired on WinXP Pro. It also came with a set of Vista Business (four discs) recovery disks. I plan to get my machine with Vista business records and down XP Pro, but I had a few questions.

    1. as it currently stands, I guess that the R & R partition that is on the HARD drive at this time restoring a WinXP Pro system if I start and get back with her. Is this correct?

    2. If I boot from the recovery disc Vista Business and use it for the recovery of the system, it creates a new partition 'Factory' R & R which would incorporate a Vista Business install?

I may be wrong on my assumptions and even after the start of the R & R partition, it is really the recovery disks that I choose to use that would dictate if I found myself with a XP or Vista Bus. System.

For what it's worth, I created a set of recovery disc R & R for the installation of WinXP Pro in case I need to revert to this version.

I hope that my question is logical and that someone out there has an answer for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    jskang, welcome to the forum,

    Yes on both counts.

Removal of all the hard drive recovery disks, create the service partition and then the system installs from the recovery with the flavor of windows partition, so that the discs are.

It was a good idea to create the XP discs.

  • 2 questions about "redevelopment" from Vista to XP

Someone I was talking about how much better my laptop worked when I "upgraded" from Vista home to XP Pro, and they wanted to do the same to theirs.
They had licensed XP Home on a thumbnail for a computer with power poor diet (or the motherboard, I'm not sure) that they elected to replace rather than repair it some time ago.

The person in question is not very computer, they asked me to proceed with the installation. When I reviewed the system, I found that the computer had a partition unused, called 'data '. The person think that the D drive was reserved for the CD, similar to the way that the reader appears sometimes on facilities without disks in older versions of Windows.

I'm not 100% sure you have the correct drivers for the NETWORK adapter (is it still called CARD of Network Interface when based and integrated?), so I'm going to install it as a dual boot in order to obtain all the necessary drivers. I found the instructions to do this, but as Vista is installed on the first partition, I have trouble if I choose to delete the VIsta partition after that XP, I get up and running because of the MBR and the boot loader? I remember that you can install on one partition other than the one with Windows NT-based, so what would be the correct way to remove the first partition Vista, once I have XP properly put in place?

Also, I think remember me something about the version of XP OEM (whatever it is) is illegal to install on another computer without count than the one for which it was purchased. Is this true? Have activation and WGA problems if I use this key?

Do you want to say that for these particular brands, and you mean by 'not turn on' the Windows Activation that disables Windows after 30 days, correct?

Well Yes. . Because if its a HP / Dell / Toshiba, Acer, the key will be in the restore cd / DVD (when install you it). And he'll know the diff, since the key is based on the model of the brand / and material. And if install you it on another system of your habit of material corresponding to the material to these portable computers or desktop computers

If you mean the license and the legality about it, so I'll tell him it's not legal, and he needs a copy that is not an OEM version.

Even if she was not preinstalled (on a laptop / desktop), it applies also to the OEM versions you buy.

It MUST only be installed on a system. You may be able to install it on other computers, BUT if you can activate it is another matter. If you can't, you will have 30 days to activate

  • Question about changing from Vista to XP on Satellite A200

    Hello

5 months ago, I bought a laptop Satellite A200 - 1 M 5, but I face some strange and annoying inconsistencies such as blue screen after startup, inconsistencies with several programs or devices, unique discoveries registry keys, problem with microsoft register server, Mp telemetry and other inexplicable things that make you angry. In addition, Vista are so heavy for 'only' 1024 MB of memory.

For all the foregoing, I thought strongly to change my operating system from Vista to XP clearer and more coherent. However, I have no idea if the machine will cooperate very well with XP. Nothing will work properly? Incompatibility? Someone told me that, perhaps, the case of Toshiba flash cards will not work. But, if so, how can I manipulate for example brightness? Combination of FN will work?

Thanks in advance for the help

I think that your machine should work well with Windows XP Home edition. Many people use Windows XP Home edition on the mobile phones of Satellite or Equium A200 new and different. Before you start to do the BIOS update to the version of Windows XP designed home. It must be 5. XX. Check it out!

For the installation of WXP use CD Windows XP SP2 home edition installations. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

BTW: before you start checking some threads here about installation of WXP A200 laptop. You can find a lot of useful things.

    Bye and good luck!

I bought a 1NB A200 and I intend to downgrade from Vista to XP.
I would like to create a CD of tools and utilities, but do I need to do before the low grade or can I do after?

Also, I have to change the BIOS for XP before you install on the system or install XP first and then modify the BIOS for XP after installation?

    Hello

If possible, try to update the BIOS first, and then reinstall the operating system.

I think you also need download all drivers Toshiba XP before installing XP on this OS. Without the LAN or WLan you will not be able to connect to internet ;)

  • Satellite A100-334: Question about upgrading from XP to Vista

I need help to upgrade my A100-334 to vista!
I use the disks provided by toshiba. It is said that the new Bios is already installed (vers.5.60).

After running the second drive it says I need to uninstall Driver driver/BD DVD-RAM and Toshiba configfree.

Then he said that the following issues will not prevent the upgrade of the execution but that some applications or elements may not work properly. The list is long.

    Here are some examples:
Diagnostic tool for TOSHIBA, Sun Java Scheduler, TOSHIBA controls, Bluetooth TOSHIBA Power saver settings and so on.

It is recommended to uninstall all of these objects?
    What can I do?

I appreciate any help thanks - Detlef

    Hi Detlef

Well, what to say if I understand your question you didn t make a new, clean install Vista, but you tried to upgrade the full XP to Vista.

I don't wonder that this doesn't update good conduct and that you get notifications on the tools and driver compatibility issues.

The fact is that many drivers, tools and utilities that are designed for the operating system XP don t run on the Vista operating system. That is why it s necessary and desirable to remove any programs that are not compatible with Vista!

In my opinion, you must perform a clean installation of Vista, and then you can download and install all the drivers Toshiba Vista required and utilities.

Best regards and greetings to Germany ;)

  • Is about to switch from XP Pro 32 to Win 7 Pro 64 b b

I have an SSD for the full version of Windows 7.  XP Pro runs on an old IDE drive.  All the hardware is 64-bit capable. Here's my problem.  There are a few keys of software in the regestry XP I need to convert so I can use the software in the new OS.  I have backed up keys out to a text file.  I have to install 7 on XP to convert keys?  the keys can be converted afterwards?  What is the best way to achieve this?

Some software (for most games) has been a unique activation and cannot be reinstalled.

You can learn more about how it works in the following article:

  • Update from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate in 2013

I have a Dell desktop computer perfectly although I bought new in 2009.  I bought under Windows Vista Ultimate Bonus, which means that it's a license for Vista Ultimate, but came with the "downgrade" to XP Pro pre-installed.  Reference Dell shipped a Windows XP and a Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1 with the PC reinstall drive.

Now that XP reaches the end of the life cycle, I am considering upgrading to Vista Ultimate, so I can get a few years out of this machine.  Is this a good idea?  I'll be able to perform an upgrade to XP using the disc to reinstall Vista from Dell?  Are there pitfalls that I should be aware?

Well, I took the lead with this update and I have to tell you, this has been the process much more time that I never crossed on a computer.  I went through a lot, too, including recently updated 5 computers to Windows 8.1 (which is from Windows 7 to 8 8 to 8.1 8.1 overview overview).

Anyway, for those who may have the same idea I had, my biggest hurdle was enter about 20 minutes in the upgrade and running the "Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer.  Not proceed with the installation. ' After several attempts and a lot of research in these discussions, I fell on my stationary.  I needed to start the computer from the disk, and then click the Windows repair option below.  A start-up error has been detected, and I chose the hotfix and restart.  Finally, I was able to restart the process of upgrading XP successfully.

A few hours later I always install hundreds of Windows, including Service Pack 2 updates, but everything seems to work.

  • Question about upgrading to WXP Pro

I recently bought a model number Equium PSM57E a friend. I got was the laptop and the charger, HDD played upward, so I replaced it with a blank, but now I am installing WXP Pro on the machine and it keeps hanging on me. I just get a message saying "the installation program starts windows.

There is no light coming on led to show any type of hard disk activity, I was wondering if the laptop was a dud total until I managed to get windows I'm working on it, but trying to take WXP pro as operating system, is beyond me.

Just in case you are wondering I have flashed and updated the bios, but was wondering if I need a third-party for the disk controller driver as the hard drive seems dead, when you try to upgrade.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

    Hi John

It seems that you have an Equium M50 PSM57E.
One question: are you sure you bought a good laptop to work?

In any case, first of all, you must check if the BIOS can recognize that the new installed HDD and check if you have purchased a HARD drive that is supported by M50.

To my knowledge the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation.
This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported, and may not be used!
But after some discussion here in the forum the Equium M50 should be able to manage a 100 GB HARD drive.

Finally and above all remember that you use WinXP Pro, which already supports the SP2. This is necessary and important.

    Good luck

  • Question about BIOS for Satellite Pro A10 files

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 and later yesterday, he won't, he past the TOSHIBA start screen and then black with a flashing cursor, it didn't leave me in advanced settings or the settings of the BIOS, a friend told me I need to Flash BIOS, I came across the site and found only a BIOS update and management told me to use the floppy drive , he said when I unzip the file I get an .exe file which I opened and it will give me three files, one for the CD ROM, one for the floppy drive and the third I don't remember, but it didn't happen, when I unzipped the files in a temporary folder, but I never had the files.

I think I had to have it on my own laptop, and then it would be extracted properly, because my laptop does not work I can't do and even if I put the files on a disk, they are too big.

    Then...

Where can I get the files from the BIOS that I can put on a floppy disk and then I can boot from that disk and it will fix the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

    OK, follow these steps:

Burn the file bios to CD on a CD, boot from it and update your bios. It's a simple and easy way. I Don t understand why it shouldn´t work, given that I ve updated my bios in the same way. I burned the image to CD and booted from this CD.

Please answer perhaps you just made a mistake when you think to (I sometimes do too much, not often, but it happens..)  :)

    Welcome them

  • Question about switching between profiles on ConfigFree V.8.0.23

I use Config Free V. 8.00.23 for win 7, but it does not automatically switch between profiles when I go to a different Wlan.

    Any Solution?

Are you sure that something like this is possible.

AFAIK, you can create different profiles and for each profile, you can define what communications equipment must be on or OFF, but I've never heard that you can create 5 different profiles and each profile to run on different WLAN network?

I will be very useful for you if you can offer step by step instructions how to do this under Vista (if you can't do this in Win7). I would like to learn something new.
