Question about upgrading to WXP Pro

I recently bought a model number Equium PSM57E a friend. I got was the laptop and the charger, HDD played upward, so I replaced it with a blank, but now I am installing WXP Pro on the machine and it keeps hanging on me. I just get a message saying "the installation program starts windows.

There is no light coming on led to show any type of hard disk activity, I was wondering if the laptop was a dud total until I managed to get windows I'm working on it, but trying to take WXP pro as operating system, is beyond me.

Just in case you are wondering I have flashed and updated the bios, but was wondering if I need a third-party for the disk controller driver as the hard drive seems dead, when you try to upgrade.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

Hi John

It seems that you have an Equium M50 PSM57E.
One question: are you sure you bought a good laptop to work?

In any case, first of all, you must check if the BIOS can recognize that the new installed HDD and check if you have purchased a HARD drive that is supported by M50.

To my knowledge the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation.
This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported, and may not be used!
But after some discussion here in the forum the Equium M50 should be able to manage a 100 GB HARD drive.

Finally and above all remember that you use WinXP Pro, which already supports the SP2. This is necessary and important.

Good luck

    Hello

You can only use the memory 100 Mhz modules because the FSB is limited to 100 MHz.
If you use 133 Mhz modules, they will work only at 100 Mhz.

  • Satellite A350D - 20K - Question about upgrade second HDD + Temperature

I have a question about my laptop. I have notticed it is a second location of HARD disk on the bottom.
Is it possible to use this to increase my storage?
And if yes, how do I do that? I don't see all the connectors.
What type of HARD drive to use in case it is possible to use this slot machine?

My second question is on my laptop to be very hot after a short period of use.
I installed speedfan to record the temperature. When I start the laptop, it already is between 45 and 50 degrees.
He stayed there for half an hour and then it starts to get warmer. When I start to use the laptop for anything, it triggers to between 70 and 80 degrees.

This does not seem normal to me. I tried to clean the vents with compressed air, but it has not made a difference.
I searched on the internet how to take the laptop part for proparly cleaned TI.
But I can't so I'm looking that destroy it.

This could be the cause and more importantly, how can I solve this problem?

    Tom

The second HARD drive bay contains the HARD drive connectors?
If Yes, then you can use a SATA 2.5 HARD.
If there are no connectors, then you will not be able to use the second HARD drive

CPU and GPU produce a lot of heat. The heat dissipation is always created then there s nothing unusual that the temperature rose to higher level.
You can change the settings in Win 7 power management. You can set the CPU to lower performance and can increase the activity of fan, which will help lower the temperature.

  • Satellite Pro A10: Question about upgrade HARD drive

I want a bigger hard drive, but xp home edition preinstalled. If I change the hard drive I don't think that the recovery disc would work to re install xp. How can I do this without having to buy a new version of windows? Oh, it's a portable satellite pro spa10.

Sorry, but why you are suggesting that the recovery CD will not recognize the new HARD drive?
The fact is that if the BIOS will recognize the new HARD drive then you will have no problem for the recovery and the installation of the OS.

If you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you must use a compatible. Then everything simply initialize-towards the top of the recovery CD and the operating system will install on the new HD disc.

  • Question about upgrading RAM on Satellite Pro A100

    Hi all

I have a Satellite Pro A100 PSAACE I want to upgrade. I currently have 1 GB of RAM in two 512 MB modules. I looked on Crucial.com and he says I need DDR2 PC2 4200 module (240 pin DIMM), but of course, they want to sell their own stuff that only comes in 1 GB modules.
So, what is the maximum amount of RAM my computer can take? I would like to have more than 2 GB in order to make my page file smaller. Is 2 GB maximum I can put in?

To be honest, I read several threads where people were not so happy with the RAMs from crucial. In my opinion, you should spend your laptop with 2 x 1 GB RAM. With 2 GB of RAM, your laptop will work fine and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

As recommendable modules, you must use either 1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G) or module recommended by Kingston.

    Hello world

I have a 120-107 I am generally satisfied but the hard drive is too small and I think the upgrade in about 100 GB. What should I look for when buying? Any suggestions on the best drive to get? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

    Hello

"you just have to take care, that you buy a Sata Drive in the"form factor"2.5". That's all.
As I know, the biggest that drive was delivered with this machine was a 120 GB SATA drive.

Regarding the manufacturer: do not hesitate to take all the manufacturers that you like. The best would be Toshiba at all ;)

  • Satellite Pro A10: Question about upgrading video card

Hi guys, I have a laptop Satellite Pro A10 and I was wondering if anyone of you could help me.

I want to improve my Ram card memory and video. The video card now is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller and want a graphics card with at least 128 MB of memory on this subject.
    Any recommendation?
Any help would be appreciated muchly.

    Hello

It of not possible to change the graphics card. The graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.
This graphics card supports up to 64 MB shared memory. The graphics card gets this value of main memory if it s needed.

The possibility to upgrade the memory of this device is something different.
You can upgrade the memory to max 1024 MB (2x512MB) and these modules should work.
    PC2100 128 MB (PA3126U - 1 M 12)
    PC2100 256 MB (PA3127U - 1 M 25)
    PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51)

Hope this will help a little.

  • Question about upgrading Satellite Pro L100

Hello, I bought this laptop on a year by year and a half ago, it is a celeron M with 256 MB of RAM.
Now its bad to do the most basic things like start up without hoggin the system, running from web pages and even small arcade games or simply check your e-mail becomes a chore.
I'm goin to this level with a 1 GB RAM stick but is there anything else that can be done about it for £400 for this?

    see you soon

    Mark

    Hello

The upgrade of the laptop is usually that you cannot update parts like the CPU or GPU
But you could upgrade RAM or HARD disk

A Satellite L100 RAM can be upgraded up to 4 GB.
In housing, you can use 2 GB DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM module.

But in my opinion the 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) are more than enough.

In your case, the update of RAM is really advisable because the 265MB RAM don t offer better performance. It s all just too low

  • Question about upgrading drivers Nvidia on Satellite Pro X 200

Can I update the drivers from nvidia 8700 for my 8700 pro satellite drivers for vista from nvidia home page,.
or do I have to use the toshiba page.

The reason I ask, is because I had a laptop computer manufacturers one another, and when I updated my nvidia drivers from the nvidia homepage,.
Spoolsv.exe has started using all my cpu, and the reason was that this driver has not been supported by this manufacturer

Shouldn´t you use the original Nvidia drivers since they are not changed for mobile platforms. If you install drivers from there, your computer will run much hotter then now and it won´t work correctly because the programming of schedules for the GPU and RAM are not correct.

You will need to go here:

but please: read the FAQ first before you do ANYTHING! :) I recommend you to do this because we can made a lot of mistakes. ;)

I can replace the Pentium M 735 2 MB of L2 cache processor
    FSB 400 1.7 GHz?

    concerning

    Hello Constantin

The answer is that no, it is not possible to replace the processor in a Toshiba laptop. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation.

    Hello

It is very unlikely that the 100 or 120 GB HARD drive works.
I guess that the BIOS will not recognize these hard disks.
I don't officials documents found on the hard drives supported, but I think that the 60 GB HARD drive is the biggest HARD drive that works on the Satellite Pro 2100.

  • Question about upgrading Ram on a Satellite Pro A200

I want to buy an internal memory of my A200 Satellite Pro Mod no, PSAE1E, but I can't find my model in the drop-down lists, what memory do I need, I want to switch using two sticks of 1 GB memory, at the present time, I have two sticks of 512 MB installed.

    Hello

    Compatible modules are: * DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM *.

As far as I know all the A200 series laptops can evolve until * 2 GB *.

This means that a memory would support module of RAM 1 GB max.

As the previous user have already said, the Kingston modules are not bad.

I also use it in my book and so far, the modules are ok.

    The question is...

I want to upgrade my portable computer system memory 3 GB DDR2 (800 MHz) RAM to 4 GB of RAM DDR3 (1066 MHz), which is compatible or not?

    Respect,
    enteoana

    Hello

In my opinion, you should follow specification not Intel and Toshiba. S Toshiba of info is based on own tests and facts.
So, depending on the specifications of Toshiba for the GM45 Chipset it is clearly written:

    Min(on Board) wheel capacity - DDR2 800 MHz 0 MB / 8 GB max
    Type of extension of memory - DDR2 800 MHz 1 GB/2 GB/4 GB
    Type of module - SO-DIMM

So if Toshiba write about 800 MHz modules, you must use the modules to them and not faster.
You may be able to use faster too, but they do not work with the maximum speed, but not going down to 800 MHz.

If you want to use max RAM amount use recommended and tested 2 x 2 Go DDR2-800 (PA3669U-1M2G).
Indicated as compatible RAM, 4 GB DDR2-800 (PA3670U-1M4G).
