Question about Tecra 510CDT computer laptop CD Rom drive

Hello

A friend just bought this laptop second hand. Everything seems very well despite the age. The only problem is when I swap the floppy for the cd rom drive drive. The screen is blank, the cursor hangs and then the laptop crashes completely.

When I originally put the CD-ROM on the laptop, it seems to be taking place, in that the drivers recognition process where apparently being installed (we have no disk windows 98), so I assumed it was launching this process that everything was fine. But when I put a cd in the drive, the message: there is no cd rom on that computer drive came! I tried several times, and the same problem occurred. I checked the Device Manager and there is no cd drive. I tried to go into the multimedia program, but there is nothing on the cd rom. But there is a cd rom drive help and how to use it. So I'm pretty confused as to what could be the problem. Do I need to get a cd rom drive new/second hand? I thought about the drivers and download them but as we drive to the web I don't have access to the internet. Help with this would be so much appreciated.

I'm no afficiando on computers, so any information base or advice to help me get started would be great.

Thank you
K

Hello

I have no adequate response, because this device is not known to me (almost 10 years). The fact is that if you look at the Toshiba download page you will find drivers for Windows 95 and not for 98.

He has also voted player of CD-ROM. try to install it. Either way, I found information that the CD-ROM drive on this unit is not bootable.

Good bye

  • Question about OS preinstalled on laptops Toshiba and recovery CD?

Y at - it only something preinstalled on Toshiba notebokes and if so, what is pre-installed? Only Windows or also the software?
Is there a score with these things pre-installed on it? Do you get the original software CD or that you get only a recovery disk?
I hope someone could help me with these questions.

    Thank you very much.

    HI Sanne,

This will depend on what any Toshiba laptop model you buy, and also the provider that you use.
Some Toshiba laptops come with recovery discs that you use to install the operating system base so that any software provided and utilities. Other Toshiba laptops have a 'hidden' partition and a utility to allow you to create your own recovery discs.

If you buy your ook noteb through points of sale, then they may well pre = install the operating system for you as well as their own software and tools.

In general, you will not receive an original CD of Microsoft since the laptop will be provided under an OEM license.

As you can see that there is no simple answer to your question. :-)

  • Question about Tecra M4 system restore disks

I am looking to buy a Tecra M4. Toshiba provide a "correct" restoration method I have no problems with restore disks, but have had problems with windows restore sometimes. They provide a factory restore disc or I have to look at the creation of a Ghost disk.

I need to know just if I can start lookging for a good approx. ghosting before buying.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi Robert,.

Portable Toshiba computers are sold with an OEM "bundle" of the software. This means that you will receive either a CD/DVD that contains an image that can be restored to the full version of the software, or a file preloaded on your laptop from which you can create your own drive can be restored.

This disk can only be used to completely restore your system to its original factory condition, and you cannot use it to selectively restore files or individual components.

You can also receive a tools and Utilities CD/DVD that contains specific Toshiba provided to public services.

If you want to create your own backup copy of your data/system files, then you will need to invest in one of the packages commercial (I use Acronis True Image myself) as well as an appropriate external environment (I use a USB hard drive).

  • Question about Compaq XP computer

It's a question of both parties, I tried to fix my computer friends who was a Compaq with the XP pro operating system. Internet Explorer soon connect so I offered to Mozilla Firefox. I rebooted in safe mode and when I did IE 8 is super fast and perfect. What is safe mode? What is disabled? I installed Firefox and reformulated in normal mode and got an error then IE wouldn't connect at all. Fortunately, I freaked out connected Firefox. In this scenario when it works in safe mode how to diagnose the problem? any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Raymond

Windows Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode in which multiple applications and Windows services and drivers are disabled.  See, for example, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/what-is-safe-mode

If the computer is running slowly in normal mode, but correctly in Safe Mode, this means that there is a request, a service or driver that does not run in Mode safe that is causing problems.  The usual method of this stalking is tedious trial and error using msconfig.

What antivirus is installed? What's his current subscription?

It would be prudent to download, install, update and run full scans with each of the following free tools
    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

If it is only to IE, the culprit can some Add on, so before going to the routine of diagnostic full, see if IE departure with no Add-ons help.  The shortcut to start IE in no Add ons mode is usually in

Start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

If you can't find it, just use Start > Run > iexplore.exe - extoff > OK

If no add ons mode does not work correctly, use Internet Options > manage add-ons to disable add ons individually until you find what is causing the problem

If you need to continue troubleshooting, first of all, read this: difference between the clean boot and Safe Mode

Then use msconfig to start the computer in a "Clean boot" State: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the computer works properly at boot startup, the first thing to do is to look at the list of startup applications and services from boot that have been disabled and see if you visually determine that any of the applications or services is malware.  A little googling wise will help here.  You can also make reference to
    http://AnswersThatWork.com/Tasklist_pages/Tasklist.htm
    http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-Windows-XP-x86-32-bit-Service-Pack-3-service-configurations/

If you can not determine visually than any startup application or service is bad, re-enable all services that are disabled in the msconfig Services tab and re-enable half of the applications on the tab "startup items".  Reset.

If things work properly, you know that one of the disabled as the startup items is at the origin of the problem.  Re-enable half of startup items and restart disabled.  Continue until you have identified the problem starting element.

If things are still not working properly, then all the startup items, you had people with disabilities are NOT the problem, so to reactivate, turn off the other half and reboot.

    Rinse and repeat.

If none of the startup items is at the origin of the problem, allowing all and now do the same with non-Microsoft services.

    I said it was tedious.

  • Envy 17: Questions about New 17 "computers laptops Envy with 6th Gen Skylake processors

I see the new Skylake i7 CPU showed in the line of envy (I waited for my purchase), but he has very little information provided on the HP site and what's next is some confussion. I mean, I'm looking at a $2,000 laptop - a little information on the sales page would be nice!

There are 2 17 '' want options (not the best value) that are customizable - display a touch and the other not.

No touch lists a 256GB SSD option, and 1 TB spinner - touch lists a SSD 512 GB or double spinners.

Basically, I can assume there are 2-Bay 2.5 "as previous models of envy, but what is the SSD? It is a 2.5 "SATA? What is M2? Is - this mSATA? If it's M2 or mSATA is on the lower part of the Board of Directors and easily replaceable?

Which in the end line want is a bunch of fo SSD 512 GB (or 1 TB) and a cone of 1 TB for storage and available configs don't happen. Can I do it myself?

Well, I guess I answered my own question...

(manual for the 2015 Envy 17 is located @ http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04696907)

The manual shows a connection for the SSD with two m2 2 2.5 "bays. For those who wish to have a second (or third) car related parts appear to be:

  • Question about Tecra M5 stops after installation of screen saver

    Hi all

Closing became a big problem for my machine since the latest updates on NVIDIA and the change of the device display utility have been applied. This happens only when the screen saver sat. I'm using NVIDIA and MicroSoft Office Manager! Aquarium screensaver.

    Concerning

    Ilian

I guess the laptop may not close properly due to some applications and processes that runs in the background and can be closed.
Sometimes, these problems occur if the registry entries are corrupted or the 3rd software access processes.

I think you should check which application cannot be closed. Try reinstalling this program and the other try to clean the registry with registry cleaning software.

In my own opinion, so the reader is compatible with 4090XDVD it should be also compatible with the 4090CDS Satellite.

    Hello

I have replaced several hard drives on some laptops but I have never used any further papers of aluminum and I have no problem with the temperature.
In my opinion, it is not necessary.
The cooling modules must be able to manage the temperature of the HARD drive.

  • Pavilion computer laptop e-019dx: driver Bluetooth for HP Pavilion e-019dx

Hello. I tried in vain to find and download a driver for my computer bluetooth portable e-019dx Pavilion. Someone can tell me if this is possible and if so, please provide a link to do this. Thanks in advance!

    You are the very welcome.

Your laptop is missing the bluetooth hardware if your only option would be to buy an external usb bluetooth adapter.

It is quite popular and works with all Windows operating systems.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-USB/DP/B007Q45EF4

Another thing you could do would be to replace the existing no bluetooth wireless card with one that has bluetooth.

You couldn't do that if your mobile phone has two antennas wireless connected to the current map.  Some laptops have only a single antenna and repair shows two in any case.

If you go this route, you may as well go for a dual band with bluetooth card.

    Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 b/g/n 2 x 2 WiFi + BT4.0 HP Part # 717381-001 would be ideal.

Here is the link to the service manual.  You can refer to Chapter 5 for the procedures of R & R wlan card, so check to see if your phone has two antennas, and you'll be able to replace the internal bluetooth and wireless card.

    Make a Restore Point

Look here and the other keys to CurrentControlSetX\Enum\IDE where X is a number.

Right-click on the PHANTOM drive and EXPORT the key to name something you remember. Then
Once again right click and delete it. Do the same for all people.

Whether it's there or not go back to Device Manager - right click on the hard drive (D :) and UNINSTALL it.
The reader should be located and re-installed when you restart after checking the GHOST.

If the GHOST is still there, see if you can DELETE it now.

If you can or not - RESTART.

  • Question about the V1.3.8.0 Raid driver update

    Hello.
Can someone tell me what are the advantages of doing an update of the RAID Toshiba Windows XP MCE 1.3.8.0 driver or what case?

Also had another problem... I tried to install the driver for interim relief and he made a mistake... my version of raid is always the one I had before and couldn t install this version.
    Any help would be cool.
    Thank you

As far as I know the RAID driver must be installed at the begging of the installation of the OS.
Unfortunately there is no any official documents about the correctional system and the benefits of updates.
But I think that the new driver could be compatible with more motherboards and controller.

  • a few questions about the technical specification of the hard drive

    Hello

    1. I see on my hard drive of my computer desk 5VDC, so I want to know what means first the term VDC?

2 - is the hard drive using 5 to 12 volts, if so, in what situations he uses 5 VOLTS and in which situatios uses 12 VOLTS.

    3. on my hard drive, it gives this values 0.92 A 5VDC and 12VDC 0.90 A now how can I calculate how much energy is to use the hard drive.

answers very short wil p.c. enough.

    Thank you

    Johan

VCC = current continuous Volts. Cars, computers, small appliances electric all use DC. House of industry, wiring supplies all use alternating current. There are all kinds of technical why reason the difference which would take a whole book.

The 5V operates mainly electronics in the drive, the 12v motor to spin the disk. So when the drive goes to sleep due to inactivity 12V disappears to a minimum even if a large part of the 5V remains the same.

Figures are at the maximum, although the current 5V remains essentially the same summits 12V then spinning the drive, when the speed as the current demand

    X 0.92 A = 4.6 w x 0.90 A 12V 5V = 10.8W so the request for the advanced reader = 15.4Watts

  • Question about installing an SSD in my optical drive

I'm looking for pulling on my optical drive and put in an SSD, because I was told it can do my slow Mac run very fast. My thought was that rather than spend on my existing hard drive, I would take the optical disc and install my SSD it (I've seen a lot of videos shows how to do this)

My original hard drive offers 500 GB and also have a Windows partition, so I'm a little afraid to play with it, too... Adding an SSD will give me a feature from the application of some of the work for the SSD (such a start and some slower applications) to work only with a specific hard drive? And if I did start Mac on the SSD, should I uninstall and reinstall OS X on this new SSD?

Sorry, I'm really new to all this. Any help is appreciated!

My first step would certainly be in lieu of the HD with an SSD. Then assess where you are and what you think of your 'new' machine.

    Hi mate,

you need a disk IDE because only this one fits into your machine (there are new standard SATA with two long hard disk connectors and the IDE from an old 40-pin at the back of the HARD drive)

The best choice would be a disc toshiba or something of hitachi, since they are very good brands. I say take some readers with 100 or 120 gigabytes of capacity.
