Question about to_date() function?

Hello
I have a question about the to_date() function.
I am aware that for the to_date() function, we should give the format of the input string.
My current settings for the NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter in the NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS table is "DD-MON-YY."
Then, when I give
SELECT TO_DATE('15-DEC-2008','DD/MM/YY') it should error out because the format is not same as the format of the input string('DD-MON-YY').
But this isn't any error out.why?
Also please tell me if the format of SYSDATE is taken NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS table or another table.

Please take a look at Unexpected result with to_date

    Dear Linksys

    I bought EA8500, and it arrived today.

    I have two questions about the functionality of MU-MIMO of EA8500 AP.

    1. I want to compare the performance between SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO, but there is no option to control this feature in the router admin page. Is that one of the possible ways?

    2 EA8500 supports 1733 Mbps wireless speed, but it resembles the speed of 1 Gbps ethernet cable.

    This router supports really speed 1 Gbps ethernet? or y at - it an option to support more throughput as the aggregation of links?

    Thank you

    Hi, hyeonu. For your first query, it is not possible because there is no option to disable the feature of MU-MIMO on your Linksys EA8500 router. In addition, with regard to your second, you can get a higher throughput of 1 Gbps since this is the maximum capacity of your ethernet connection.

  • Questions about the function "movie Diff file with...". »

    Hello

    I started working on a project where I'm now a piece of the old code written by an employee has since left my company.  This is a file of sequence TestStand 3.0 calling on Labview 7.0 code. The thing is, there were two of these facilities at different times and, somewhere in the Woods between stations 1 & 2, the code base diverged.  Part of it was due to not being able to get the material in double right for the PXI chassis and part was, apparently, due to the fact that the customer has used the 2 machines to test different models of the object to measure.

    So, I'm looking for copies of the code installed on both machines using the diff feature in TestStand base.  (If that makes a difference, I do this view in TestStand 3.5 since TS3.0 disappeared mysteriously some corrupt on me right now on my main development machine, and if the memories are good, you need to uninstall all the latest version of TS to reinstall an earlier version.)  A quite fun process, no doubt, but a little of your time.)

    Anyway, the first thing I noticed is that many sequence steps have different values of ID of the step Properties.Step look like this: "ID #: 2vMTp0db002mQDXArddRSA.  Play with the diff screen showed an option "Ignore the unique ID of the Step" which got rid of these.  With regard to these single-step ID: when they are generated and they remain constant on a particular machine?  Beyond simple curiosity, I wonder as an another diff is in some of the "on spending target ' or 'On Custom Condition true target' under certain properties of the step and the value down there looks suspiciously like these unique ID (that is, '" ID #randomstuff' ").  Are they all updated dynamically during execution or break something by changing these (for example if I copy a sequence of a crushing in the other version)?

    So, I have filtered the unique ID's.  The next major area of difference is that many, but not all together, VI Labview calls have a difference in the properties of the step > Flexible Labview adapter properties > ViCall > connector pane Checksum > value.  In addition, in some other cases, ViCall > error > connector number is different as well.  This indicates a different underlying VI?

    There are a few other differences, but I can interpret those.  My goal is to get a file of sequence for two machines, so the code will be easier to maintain.  I think that some of the VI with different amounts of connector pane control can be different between two facilities from one of the different hardware components required a library different driver.  This leads to a third question, what to use identical sequence files when the underlying VI may be different?  Is it just the interface must be the same?  As the connector pane has the same types of data and geometry for the presentations of the inputs and outputs?

    Thanks for any help,

    Mike

    I just got the phone with the help of NOR, so no worries on the answers.

    Short version:

    The unique ID is regenerated when a sequence is copied.

    TestStand didn't need to uninstall to reinstall an earlier version of the above.

    Connector pane Checksum involves a different underlying VI, but having the same geometry/inputs/outputs/types of connectors should allow you to have an another VI of facilities without different sequence files.

  • Question about the functionality of vector mask

    Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to Photoshop CS 5 so I apologize if I'm asking the wrong type of questions, here goes:

    When you work with vector masks you can:

    (1) "the link" or a vector mask with the other images? ' sharing ' a picture (for example) if I did 'A Building' then duplicated, but wanted to change what build a looked like, I have to only change the mask of the source, then the copies would be updated.

    (2) move the independent image of the vector mask (it seems that I can only move the vector mask, not the image itself). Or in other words: I can move the image and have the mask to follow, instead of being only able to move the vector mask within the limits of the image?

    My application of the question:

    I do a top-down 2D layout of a zone of type "Paste". I did to fill the buildings, building A, B, C, etc. and use multiple copies of each building. Ideally, I would like to be able to 'link' or share say building has a vector mask with all other instances of building A (so that when I change the master, they all change to the new form of mask). The second behavior I have trying to find is the ability to move without moving layer where the vector mask is on this layer (since it seems that you can only move where the mask is, which means that even if I could share masks, they all finish by in the same sense of place I have to re - position each hand again.)

    Any ideas are appreciated, thank you for reading.

    When you work with vector masks you can:

    (1) "the link" or a vector mask with the other images? ' sharing ' a picture (for example) if I did 'A Building' then duplicated, but wanted to change what build a looked like, I have to only change the mask of the source, then the copies would be updated.

    Yes, it's possible, but not with the classic system layer vector mask in Photoshop. Layer masks are part of a layer and not the layers themselves, so that they can be converted into a reusable object.

    The solution is to avoid vector layer masks and use a clipping/layer instead mask. A clipping/layer mask CAN be converted into a smart object that is reusable, and when you change one, all the other instances are also changing.

    The second part of the solution is to convert the layers contained both the clipping/layer to a smart object mask. Then the batch group. By the way, if your buildings are made up of several elements simply to include these additional elements in the clipping group. Another advantage is that each of the elements may still have its own normal layer mask. Win win situation. And layer effects can be applied to layers/clipping masks, once again what is impossible for layer masks. It also opens the doors to a much less destructive workflow.

    (2) move the independent image of the vector mask (it seems that I can only move the vector mask, not the image itself). Or in other words: I can move the image and have the mask to follow, instead of being only able to move the vector mask within the limits of the image?

    This is also solved with the use of layers/clipping masks - the content and the mask can be moved independently in regular layers. Another advantage is that the two can also be transformed individually.

Any ideas are appreciated, thank you for reading.

    So here's my solution. I made a sample with two buildings, the view from above which could be reused as desired:

    (1) first of all create groups for each building and place the content to those. Then trace layer vector shapes on the content. Set the transparency for layers of mask to a reasonable of opacity for masking easier.

    (2) put the vector shape under the layer of content for each building. Then, for (1) and (2), , click on the border between the content and the shape layer. (

    (3) then we will turn this building into recyclable items. Convert each content and layer to a smart object clipping mask. Then rename these layers of dynamic object into something sensible (honestly, I forgot to label the layers well earlier, but you catch my meaning here ;-)

    Fact! To clone each building, duplicate layer groups. For each instance that you can move the content (which is handy if you share multiple charts of building in the same bitmap or illustrator file), or you can decide to move the mask in place. Or both. It is the same for the transformation. Your choice. To move or transform a building, select the layer group.

    To change or modify the masks or the contents, double-click the smart object of your choice and make a few changes.

    Also, remember that you can insert additional elements in a clipping group by placing it over the first layer and then clipped by clicking again on the border between them. So, in theory, you could start building different looking buildings by adding other dynamic objects in clipping groups. The sky is the limit! In this way, you can create several building blocks to build various buildings with different looks. And still limit the number of blocks - and any update-able.

    Unfortunately, that's when the workflow breaks down a bit: due to the implementation of the object dynamic in Photoshop, you can't change the mask or the contents of the building in context - instead, it opens in its own window of file. This can be somewhat mitigated by placing the two windows side by side (window-> fix--> double vertical installation).

    This brings us to the second caveat: when you make a change, the changes are not updated in real time in the master document. You must first save it. Still a bit of a flow of work, but when same breaker... At least you now have a workflow not destructive instantiated.

    The content of the dynamic object can be replaced easily with a right-click of the mouse on the smart object layer itself. Or use a dynamic object referenced externally instead if you prefer to generate your buildings in an external application.

    BTW, the layer of Photoline system is much more logical and easier to use for this type of work. Layer masks behave like regular diapers. Layers, groups, masks, layers of external file and so forth can be practically cloned and instantiated as smart objects, but the main object is editable in the context, and all the other instances updated in real time. So, it is more convenient. At least this is my experience.

    I hope this has been helpful! Now go build your cities. :-)

    PS: I thought: isn't Illustrator or InDesign is a much more logical choice for this type of work where you need access to reusable blocks of content? It would also be a more efficient workflow and faster - Photoshop is not really designed for this type of work. Illustrator and InDesign provide potentially out of better quality. You can also divide your work into the pages and so on. Here again, you would probably lose the flexibility of smart objects.

    Then I insert a line:

    Then I do the following in sql-navigator:
    DECLARE
    v_test VARCHAR2 (2000): = ' update test1 set anniversary = trim (to_date ("07/07/1937","DD-MM-YYYY" "))';
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE v_test;
    commit;
    END;

    The result is: 07/07/1937

    When I do the same thing in sql * more:
    DECLARE
    v_test VARCHAR2 (2000): = ' update test1 set anniversary = trim (to_date ("07/07/1937","DD-MM-YYYY" "))';
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE v_test;
    commit;
    END;

    The result is the 07/07/2037

    Someone at - it an idea what is the problem?

    Trim() accepts and returns the characters (see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/functions199.htm#SQLRF06149), so my guess is that filling an internal conversion somewhere along the line.

    Fact interesting, when I do:

    select to_date(trim(to_date('07-07-1937', 'dd-mm-rrrr')), 'dd-mm-rr') from dual

    I get this:

    07/07/2037

    which is not what I expect to find.

    select dump(trim(to_date('07-07-1937', 'dd-mm-rrrr'))) from dual

    gives

    Typ=1 Len=9: 48,55,45,74,85,76,45,51,55

    So all I can say is: do not use trim to the dates.

    You must first create a background application. Therefore extend the Application class. Then, you already said you use persistence. DateTimeUtilities comes in very handy when handling / comparison of DateTime. Then implement the RealTimeClockListener that is raised every minute to check if the date is a specific date in your persistence. Or you can use TimerTask and trigger every hour or every 24 hours. To warn the user of your application to background:

    synchronized(Application.getEventLock()){    UiEngine ui = Ui.getUiEngine();
        Screen screen = new Dialog(Dialog.D_OK, "Look out!!!",
            Dialog.OK,           Bitmap.getPredefinedBitmap(Bitmap.EXCLAMATION),         Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLL);

  • Question about the function of "Messages"

    Hi all

    I'm trying to use the feature of Message workspace to inform our users of planning that are connected on downtime etc. While working with the feature, I noticed something-

    The broadcast Message is sent by the admin looks like a pop up but only when the user navigates on the current page to another page. He does not appear when the user is working on a dataform and refreshes the data form or things, another option. Depending on how it works now lets say a user is already connected to the planning application and works on a dataform and is just save/update the data in the form of data, it will not see the message at all.

    Is there something I'm missing or there at - it another way for the message box is displayed even if the user is hitting refresh? I continued through the broadcast Messages Oracle documentation and it says:

    "+ For users connected to the application, the broadcast message displays in their browser the next time they refresh the page or go to another page, if you send the message via the Web or the command line." + »

    but it doesn't look like it works when you click Refresh.

    Please let me know your opinion on this. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    I think what you see is just the way it works in 11.1.2.1, might be worth totalling a call at Oracle, if you think this is a bug or maybe it has already been addressed.

  • Question about the functionality of ThinApp

    Hi MauroBonder,

    If I understand, you say that there are some ThinApp competitors who have a feature, if a user does not use the virtualized application then it will get uninstalled automatically so that another user can use that app and that would save them to buy a new license. My understanding is correct? If this is the case, then I would say that ThinApp does not have this feature at the moment. • Use third-party utility to extend the C: drive

        • Something goes wrong in the process and partition is corrupted.

    Returning on the snapshot would recover this scenario?

    My feeling is Yes, as snapshots operate at the block, and when the snaphsot, everything was ok

    The propronents or opponents?

    See you soon

    AM

    In this scenario, go back to the snapshot will restore the State of the virtual machine before it laying in the guest OS.  I just confirmed it myself in my lab.  From the start I had an error on the computer is not present in AD, account but it is probably because it is an old VM, I have not turned on for some time.

    One thing to remember is that even if the snapshot will return the guest OS of return to the State before you lie down, the VMDK itself file will still be extended.  If you want to cancel you would probably use VMware Converter to create a new virtual machine.

  • Question about DISCHARGE (expr, 1016) function

    Hello

    I have a question about the DUMP function, specifically the DUMP (expr, 1016). What character set is the function of report? The only logical answer seems to me the characters of data. The http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17118/functions055.htm#SQLRF00635 docs it says: "by default, the return value contains no character set information. To retrieve the name of character of expr, add 1000 to all the values of previous format. "For example, a return_fmt of 1008 returns the result in octal * and provides the character set name of expr.*.

    I ask this question because a client complains that there a database with database EE8MSWIN1250 (obtained from DATABASE_PROPERTIES) characters and when I asked him to run a SELECT that could empty the contents of a column, he gave me this result:
    select dump(some_col, 1016) from some_table;

    Typ=1 Len=8 CharacterSet=AL32UTF8: c5,bd,c5,a0,54,45,53,54
    Now I can't imagine how the data can be stored in the AL32UTF8 character set if the characters of the database are EE8MSWIN1250. This scenario is still possible? I tried in vain to reproduce on my test database.

    I don't know if the column is defined with the characters of database or the national database characterset, but even if it was a NVARCHAR2, the dump function could not return AL32UTF8 since he is not a national character set.

    If anyone has an explanation, I will be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Swear

    1. to help with the confusion about the DUMP function: index realizes that the DUMP function can be performed in the remote database. Oracle tries to push as many functions as possible and semantically correct on the remote site. Therefore, it sends the statement of simple table on the remote site after stripping the DB link. In this case, the DUMP function sees the character set of the remote database and creates the resulting string of information. This string of AL32UTF8 to EE8MSWIN1250, as described in the note, but as all the characters in the string of information are pure ASCII, some codes are actually changed.

    Things get more interesting if you start to combine the tables of local and remote databases. For example, the following query is will normally return the character of local database defined for the two columns:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual x, dual@dblink y);

    This is because the first dual@dblink is transported to the local site and the join is performed here with application of DUMP.

    The following query returns the set for two columns of characters in remote database:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual@dblink x, dual@dblink y);

    This is because all the tables are remote and the entire query is sent to the remote database and y.

    The following query returns the remote character set thus:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select /*+driving_site(y)*/ x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual x, dual@dblink y);

    Here, the DRIVING_SITE hint asks the database to perform the join in the database of the table, for example dual@dblink.

    2. to answer your question:

    Your understanding of the way of conversion is generally correct, but conclusions are not quite correct. In the scenario [client EE8ISO8859P2, EE8MSWIN1250 local database, remote database AL32UTF8], Eastern and Central European characters will work correctly, but the other characters to the remote database will not be (for example, French, Greek, Chinese). It is, I think, quite clear and is usually not a major problem, as usually only compatible languages EE8 are interesting for an EE8ISO8859P2 customer. However, in the scenario [customer AL32UTF8, EE8MSWIN1250 local database, remote database AL32UTF8], the problem becomes more visible. Having a taking customer support Unicode, you can recover some data French or Greeks of the remote database but you will fail as all of these characters will be "killed" by the conversion of distance at the local level (link DB conversion).

    EE8ISO8859P2 is also for the same group of languages, such as EE8MSWIN1250, indeed, but it lacks some interesting characters. The most important of them is the symbol of the Euro. Others are "' quotes, long dashes, TM symbol, and a few other less frequently used punctuation. Therefore, always define a database as EE8MSWIN1250, even if you run some clients (Unix) with EE8ISO8859P2. Do not run Windows with EE8ISO8859P2 clients, except for purposes of loading/generation of special file.

    Thanks in advance,

    Then, when you do

    create table t (neck DATE);

    Insert into t (to_date ('1st January 2014', ' mon-dd-yyyy "");)

    Are you surprised that it works? After all a DATE column contains a time component, you do not provide: but he

    works and gives you 00:00:00 as the component "hour".

    Similarly, the timezone component is being developed to automatically with, I think, time zone of your system.
