Question format/reformat?

Try to install Vista on a hard drive. Only have an OEM drive, which obviously does not settle as the old disks used for xp. I tried using the formatting format option and it takes like 10 seconds and says its done. I know that it is not directly on a 300 GB drive. In any case, I was told to choose the option REPAIR and then command line option and that I could format from the command prompt. I do not know what command to enter.
The existing drive is the letter C. I want to start this installation on a clean slate, as I had so many problems of error and want to make sure that I have eliminated all the info from the previous installs.
Can some genius of computing there spare a few minutes to help me?
Be also quite specific.
Thanks in advance.
PS I have read a lot on the line on the way to reformat a FAT32 to an NTFS, but nothing on how to use the repair at the command prompt to reformat an NTFS disk formatted with the command fdisk to NTFS.
If I don't do the right thing please let me know the roght process to wipe this clean drive for a new installation.

  7. where do you want to install Windows?

Here you can see a graphical representation of the hard disk of your PC (s), giving you the opportunity to select a partition on which to install Windows Vista. On a system that is brand new, a reader, you will probably see a lists of partition, as shown in the screen shot to the left. However, this phase of the installation program includes a number of utilities, hidden under the option 'Drive Options (Advanced)', which can help you perform various actions, most of which will be of interest for those who have multiple partitions, or those who think they might want to later dual-boot Vista with another version of Vista or perhaps a version of Linux. (If you think you want to dual-boot Windows Vista with XP, you must install XP first. "I'll describe this process early in part 4 of this series).

Look at some of the interesting options available under 'Drive Options (Advanced)' before continuing.

By default, this phase of Setup has two basic options:

A. this will refresh the graphical view of partitions and disks at your disposal during the installation of Vista.

Load driver. If you use some sort of advanced disk controller and, therefore, some discs are not appearing in the installation program, you can use this option to load the drivers now, with the hope that the drives will be available for you. For example, some RAID tables are not immediately recognizable for Vista Setup.

Click on drive options (Advanced), however, and a number of new options (Figure):

Remove. If you are working with a hard disk has several partitions and want to delete one or more of them, perhaps to later create a unique (using New, discussed below) partition, you can use the option Delete (Figure). Delete Deletes the partition and marks the space occupied by this partition as being free and empty.

Format. On a hard disk with existing partitions, you can use the Format command to erase all the data on these partitions and return to a condition as new, blank. Note that the formatted disks are essentially empty and that the Windows Vista Setup program does not require you to explicitly to format a partition before installing: If you choose an empty partition, Vista Setup will automatically format the drive for you.

New. On a hard disk with partitions not configured (i.e. a 'clean' or blank disc), you can click this option to create a new partition (Figure). This partition can be measured in the physical ability of the underlying disk (and is by default), but you can eventually choose to leave empty space for the creation of the partition and formatting later. (Windows Vista includes tools for this purpose.) In general, I recommend simply create a partition that is the same size as the underlying disk, formatting and installation of Vista.

Extension. If you work with a drive hard partition and other disk hard space empty and want to extend this partition so that it now includes all or part of the empty space, you can use the command Extend (Figure). Note that empty space well be logically available 'behind' the partition selected for this command works. And do not take all available space: the installation program will allow you to choose how you want to add to the existing partition.

Note: the Windows Vista installation program creates only NTFS partitions. Frankly, anyone who tries to use just at that moment: FAT32 doesn't get it: NTFS is the traditional file system used on Windows today and the only type of file system you use in the future.

Anyway, once you have determined the location to which you intend to install Windows Vista, you can click next to continue.

  • Satellite A500 - question to reformat

    I intend to do a reformat of my laptop very soon. If I restore the windows to factory state using the backup image that I did when I got the laptop it would crush the C and D drives? Or he would crush just the C drive?

    I ask this question because I use drive C for Windows and programs and I use the D drive for all my games and media. I just need clean the C drive.

    I made the backup image using the Toshiba media recovery program.

    Thank you.

    I hope that I will be able to explain how it works.

    For the recovery image installation, you have two options:
    # to use the saved disk HARD second partition in folder HDDRecovery recovery image
    # to use DVDs you create only using Toshiba recovery disc creator pre-installed recovery

    1
    When you use HARD drive recovery - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm - only C partition will be formatted. All data saved on the second partition will be there.

    2
    When you created the DVD for installation of operating system will be deleted and formatted the whole HARD drive. This means that you will lose all your data.

  • Satellite A200 - question format HARD drive after replacing

    Hello

    I know this is probably a stupid question to ask as I am not that great with computers.
    I have problems with my hard drive from my Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop.

    Now, when I took it out it was a 120 GB so I bought another Seagate 320 GB hard drive to replace it.
    Now can I just put it back in or do I have to format the known brand hard drive.

    So if anyone can help it would be much appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

    New HARD drive should be recognized by the laptop properly.
    If you purchased a HARD drive 2.5 SATA, so I put t see serious reasons why this HARD drive is not working.

    Once the HARD drive has been replaced, boot from the Toshiba Recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen. The HARD drive must be formatted during the installation procedure

    Hello

    Before starting to explain how it works, I would say follow: first of all CREATE recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. Do not forget.
    With the help of this DVD, you will be able to install Vista and have factory settings once again.

    When you start installation of WXP all three partitions appears and you can select the destination for the installation of Windows XP Home edition. If you choose the C partition two others is not deleted.
    Later, when you want to install using created Vista recovery DVD disc HARD integer is deleted and formatted.

  • 64 GB Cruzer Glide needs formatted - reformatted only to 1 GB

    We used our two 64 gb Cruzer flash slides to back up our DVR before he died, and they DVR then reformatted to any file system is necessary.

    After we had put the files on our new DVR, I went to reformat two readers flash for Windows to use.

    We run Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, currently updated.

    When I choose to format, the ONLY available size is 1 GB, no other options for the size.  FAT is the default file system, but put in anything else still does only 1 GB.

    I searched the forums without success for a similar problem.  I don't see any drivers for flash drives, but I will keep looking until new ideas pop up here.

    Question:

    ~~~~
    I created a group of ADF with Table query for all searchable attributes of a view object. Little attribute is of type database column NUMBER and their ADF attribute type is oracle.jbo.domain.Number. Some of these attributes are having more than 4 decimal places.
    For example: Cost attribute value is 1.23004
    After you run the search page, when I enter cost value as 1.23004, after the tab out. the value of cost in the criteria section is changed to 1.23 which is originally no results to return, even if the record with cost 1.23004 exists in the database. Initially, the table of results also showed only 1.23 as cost value. I changed the af: convertNumber MaxFractionDigits on 10 to show all of the up to 10 decimal precision (if it exists). After this is done, the result table shows the correct value (1.23004). but the search criteria still rounds up 1.23 for the first time. If the 1.23004 value is entered again it retains the value entered and search result works very well.
    Is there anyway that the automatic formatting of the criteria can be disabled? It is otherwise better to show all decimal values without rounding or the definition of the MaxFractionDigits?
    Really appreciate your help on this.
    Thank you.
    Sorry for the confusion.
    Build your own referee criteria view, you add the attribute number and check the tab user interface of suspicion for the attribute. Check if you can change the format here. As I'm not in front of a pc that I have to look at the other options. It may be a bug.
    There is this programmatic approach Oracle ADF Guide step by step - Oracle ADF tutorial: handle stripped to the ADF query component - see the values of input query but it should be possible to operate for the types of number with fraction numbers more then 2 out of the box.
  • Review of VCP vcp4 Question format
    Hi all
    I have a question about the format of the questions real vs the way the questions are asked on the SLOG - SimonLong-blog and on the website of the education of vmware. I understand that these issues are about to a way that is ideal to get acquainted with current technology and basic information. But as I'm a "Terrified of TEST" person you will ever meet. My questions are these. The exam questions are mostly straight up do you know that? OR are they more taste of the scenario of line 5 which in fact asking the same thing, but see if you can understand the basic question? Focusing primarily on!
    Thank you
    GEO!
    VCP4 questions are normally very simple and easy to understand - I would not describe them as "wordy". You know the answers to the many questions at the time wherever you have finished reading the question on the screen. Don't forget that you must answer 85 questions in 90 minutes, so you get a lot of time for reflection - I trained a guy a few weeks ago, who has completed the review all in 23 minutes and got a great score
  • question: format / 'language' of the current Date (in the date/time field), javascript only
    Hello
    I have 2 date fields in my form, which should display the date in a different format. (yyyy.mm.dd / dd-mm-yyyy)
    To get the current date I only use java script
    Formular1.p1.date_YYYYmmDD::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
         var date = new Date();
        this.rawValue  =  date.toLocaleDateString();
    My first problem is (red): I get the date in English, but I want it in another language. As it was defined in the form settings
    screenshot_date1.png
    My second question is: How can I format a date/time-sized (not a text field) in javascript with a model specific to the init event?
    It seems that my code in the init event replaces the model of the DateTime field configuration
    Here is my form, if anyone wants to check it out:
    https://Acrobat.com/#d=zeOMyj9MhBdYbVWk8S1pHw
    Hello
    I think that these two problems are the same, by setting a date/time field using the rawValue always format must be yyyy-mm-dd, if you use a different format, the value is just seen as text and poster without shaped.
    var date = new Date();
    this.rawValue = util.printd("yyyy-mm-dd", date);
    You can also set the formattedValue if you have a date in the correct format.
    var date = new Date();
    var currentLocale = xfa.resolveNode("#localeSet.#locale").name;
    var dateFormat = "date("+currentLocale+"){DD MMM, YYYY}"
    this.formattedValue = util.printd(dateFormat, date, true)
    This code assumes that the view model is date {MMM DD, YYYY}
    The date format specification is in the XFA http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/xml/index_arch.html specification
  • Question about reformatting Satellite A100 PSAA8Q
    Can someone help me please?
    I tried at least 20 times insertion restore DVD and select boot from CD/DVD-rom, but whenever the HARD drive recovery utilities window is not started.
    Can anyone tell me why and how to fix this?
    Note: what I create Tools & Utilities CD?, but on the Protect & Fix tab, there is no such thing.
    Thank you
    At first, I must say that I don't know what you mean with the HARD drive recovery utility. As much as I know this older A100 has no opportunity to drive HARD, just a recovery media recovery. This means that you can only install the recovery using recovery DVD image.
    New models of laptops have saved the recovery image on the HARD drive and recovery installation can be started by using the installation disk option.
    In any case, to start the process of recovery of Toshiba recovery DVD media you have three options:
    -Set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS settings
    -When the laptop start press F12 and choose CD/DVD
    -What laptop begins to push C button and keep it down for 10 seconds. This will force the CD/DDVD drive as first boot device
    Please try all of them and post the results.
    My eyes hurt just too with this blue.
    An explanation of how to display events in different colors using CSS classes is given in the online help for the region of Class CSS calendar attribute. Add a column to the query of calendar that determines the color of class for the event:
    SELECT ID,
    START_DATE,
    END_DATE,
    TASKNAME,
      case STATUS
    When 'open' then 'apex-cal-green.
    When "Pending" then "apex-cal-yellow".
    When 'Closed' then 'apex-cal-red '.
    When "pending" then "apex-cal-black.
    end as css_class,
    ASSIGNED_TO as supplemental_info
    PROJECTS
    and select it in the attribute of Class CSS region.
    Built-in support exists for the following classes/colors:
    • Apex-cal-black
    • Apex-cal-blue
    • Apex-cal-bluesky
    • Apex-cal-Brown
    • Apex-cal-cyan
    • Apex-cal-blue dark
    • Apex-cal-grey
    • Apex-cal-Green
    • Apex-cal-lime
    • Apex-cal-orange
    • Apex-cal-Red
    • Apex-cal-silver
    • Apex-cal-white
    • Apex-cal-yellow
    You can also create your own combinations of colors using custom classes and CSS.
  • SDHC cards can be formatted NTFS?
    I would like the "NTFS" format so that I can save copies of my regular Outlook Backup files on SDHC cards!  I use Windows 7 on both of my computers.
    When I try to copy the Outlook Backup for SDHC cards I have, I get a message on the file is too big, although the display of properties seems to show that there is enough space!
    The cards I have are shown are formatted as "FAT."  I guess that the problem has something to with the "block size" of the file linked to the "block size" used in the 'FAT' format!  If this ISN ' T my problem, WHAT is?
