Question of firmware update hard drives/RAID

We have a Server Power Edge R210II with OS MS Server 2008R2 and a Controller PERC H200 RAID (two disc HARD 1 TB Seagate SATA in RAID1).
Recently, there is a new firmware for Seagate drives on a dell (Package update for MS Windows) support site.
I really don't want to lose the server :) and never update firmware on the disks on the server with RAID (I've updated the players only on PC).
Can someone tell me a procedure to update the firmware on my drives? Problems with the upgrade, best practices etc?
Thanks for any help,
Marius

Best practices:

  • First have a backup. Should data not destructive, but everything can happen.
  • Use SUU or Repository Manager to update ALL of your system - iDRAC/BIOS firmware, PERC and other firmware must be updated before the firmware of the HARD drive.

Most HARD drive firmware updates are bootable, so you just get the utility boot and update.

You cannot update firmware of the drive not Dell with Dell firmware (i.e. If you bought the retail/generic readers).

  • WRT610N updated firmware, USB hard drive no longer works

    Hi all

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.  I noticed a few people have had this problem, so maybe there is a difficulty.  I updated the firmware to Ver.1.00.02.10 because the release notes, said that it had improved the function USB hard drive.  I've updated the firmware, which is is held reset, pedaled power button, restored my setup, replugged my USB drive & lit.  I am still unable to access the USB drive.  It shows not only upward.

My hard drive is a Maxtor One Touch 750 GB, works perfectly when it is directly attached.  I have 2 PC (one connected via gigabit and either through N), both works very well.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you so much in advance.

When you upgrade the firmware of your router, you must reset your router and reconfigure the settings on it once again, do not restore the Configuration of return still file once on your router. Just reconfigure a fee net settings on your router. That might solve your problem.

  • H200A PERC. SAS and SATA. Simple 2 extra HARD drives raid. Possible?

    Hello.

Research in the server rack dell R210 II.

Added records 2 x 300 GB SAS with a PERC H200A raid controller.
The other two empty drive bays im looking to transfer courses two SATA 2.5 "HARD disk drives. Ive read you can mix SATA and SAS drives, is this true?

I have two options to the raid configuration:

the raid controller would be able to support two raid 1 RAID. 1 for the SAS drives and the other for the two SATA drives?   Operating system can see two disks.

He would support a raid 1 for hard 1 & 2 discs.  Then with disk HARD 3 & 4 show the HARD drive directly on the server.  OS sees thre readers.  The drive in question and two others.

I tried the dell chat, but could not get anywhere, as the helpdesk agent does not seem to know that you can google some caddy and buy the caddy to adapt to discs with no carts.

[murmur] I'm wrong :), but I think the H200 supported not RAID, so if left unconfigured, the disks will be seen by the operating system as the person/no RAID disks.  Also, if I am wrong not :), the H200 supports a maximum of 2 virtual drives, so would not work two 1-disk RAID 0 and a RAID 1 (in fact, it probably won't allow you to create a single drive RAID 0 in all). • Update hard drive to disk hybird / HP Envy 15.6 (DV6-7226NR)

I just bought a refurbished HP ENVY 15.6 (DV6-7226NR), (what has not happened yet, so I don't know if I have the installation of Windows 8 media). I want to move the hard drive to a hybrid drive. Couple of questions, because I'm not the original owner, and the laptop was bought refurbished, am I allowed to reinstall Windows 8, in view of the change of material. If it is allowed, what procedure should I follow. I would be grateful some links to information I'm looking for.

You'll have to ask the company refurbished if there is a partition on the laptop recovery.

If there is, then you should be able to make a recovery usb flash drive to allow you to reinstall the operating system. If the recovery partition exists or not will be between you and the renovation company.

My preferred method during the upgrade of the hard disks is to use a cloning software and a usb cable to SATA to clone the existing to the new hard drive.

  • Update hard drive to the Satellite Pro L300

Have a Satellite Pro L300 with a 120 GB hard drive, running Vista Home, the reader is divided 50-50 and does'nt Vista as to move the partition (Partition Magic does not work)...

So would like to change to a larger HD... Q / I can do this, and how hard is it? even with the recovery of files on the Partition and if I bought the Toshiba recovery disks, gruff, when the player is changed discs would not reconise the largest disk that I discovered in the past using Norton Ghost.

Upgrading the hard drive doesn't have to be the problem.
HARD drive is placed in the lower corner under the HARD drive cover. HARD drive cover is fixed by two screws. Remove the screw, then the HARD drive cover. Please do it gently. After having this deletion drive by pulling on the tab kit attached to the pack, following the direction of the arrows.

According to the specifications of the laptop you need SATA HDD and it can be upgraded up to 500 GB.
After upgrade the disk HARD use recovery DVD for installation of operating system.

    Any other questions? ;)

  • Satellite A300 - Questions about the second HARD drive Bay

To the underside of the laptop, there is an empty Bay for a second HDD internal.
It is in the lower left corner (the first internal hard drive is on the lower side right) and the Bay has a sata connector.
The plastic cover of the empty Bay extended columns so nothing (not even a hard disk) can be positioned on the inside.

    Someone knows:
    -If the sata connector works
-If I can connect a secondary internal hard drive which work together with the primary
-Where I could order the support for the secondary hard drive (i.e. toshiba code)
-Where I could order a plastic cover without extensive columns, bcz I want to break.

If my question is not clear, I can upload a photo.

    Thanks in advance

  • Equium A210 - Question on two 2 hard drives using Vista

I'm looking for some portable refurbished Toshiba and see that some of them (including the title template) have 2 hard drive bays. An individual has a specified 80 GB drive and I am puzzled as to how, if the 80 GB is divided, it can run Vista.

I intend to use the built-in hard drive to run the programs and the OS and use an external drive to store all my data, that's why I go for a laptop with a hard drive relatively low and hopefully get a good quality for less money machine.

But I would like to know what size are these 2 drives and you would be grateful for information about the ins and outs of the 2 hard drives.

Thanks in advance if you can enlighten me :)

    clemenzina

    Hello

    > An individual has a specified 80 GB drive and I am puzzled as to how, if the 80 GB is divided, it can run Vista.
Your question confuses me, I wonder what's not clear for you
You are right. Some series are equipped with two bays for HARD drives, but this does not mean that you can use 2 hard disks because not all models with 2 bays for HARD drives supports 2 HARD disk controllers. So before use 2 HARD drive, you will need to check first if the second span would contain HARD drive connectors.

In addition, the installation of Vista OS always create 2 partitions on the HARD disk.
A small partition is hidden and it contains the necessary vista backup files that are needed to repair the Vista operating system (in critical situations).
The second partition contains the common files system.

This is the whole secret of Vista

  • Qosmio G20: update HARD drive internal

My G20 has 2 60 GB HARD drive.
I'll remove the No2 car that does not have windows for a bigger. It took me a bit to a source in the UK and I have a price of 199.99 gbp for a 120 GB drive. Does that seem reasonable for a real player Toshiba?

Due to another disk HARD 100 GB being 99.99 gbp. I don't know what to do either would drive as good as Tosh one? Also can I turn off the computer and exchange them because in my computer both drives are called Toshiba Raid.

I'm not clued up on Paolo etc any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hello

The price of HARD drive depends not only on the size of the HARD drive, but also on the rotation of the disk, size of buffer.
I think that the Qosmio also supports S - ATA interface. In this case, you need a compatible SATA HARD drive.
In the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop, you will find instruction how to remove and install the HARD drive.

RAID uses 2 HDD. You can set it up as a mirror RAID-1 and RAID 0 stripping. When you use RAIND-1, data is stored twice so that even if there are problems with a HARD disk, the other HARD disk can be used to retrieve the data.
The additional HARD drive capacity must be equal to or greater than the capacity of the first HARD drive. Additional if you are using RAID-1 the operating system recognizes the slightest ability to drive HARD 2.
In this case, if you use a 60GB and a 120 GB OS recognizes it as 60 GB. The extra 60 GB of the second HARD disk cannot be used.

But all this s information you can find in the user manual.

    Hello

It s possible. Unfortunately it s not official but many users here in the forum asked a thousand times before you, and we all realized it's possible. Do not hesitate to buy new HARD drive and install it, there are just 4 screws that hold the HARD drive in the enclosure, the other stuff is just re-installing the OS and bla...

  • Satellite A50 543: Questions about upgrading the HARD drive

I'm looking to upgrade the internal hard disk on my A50 543 to 100 GB at 7200 RPM. The original drive is a Fujitsu 60GM 4200. I have found no information on the Internet on other readers line CMS that have been tested and found compatible with the A50. I need at least 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM to edit video.

Suppliers meet usually only with so many laptops on the market, they cannot test each hard drive with any laptop, but can tell if it is compatible with the specifications of the computer and the hard disk specifications and are so confident that their information is accurate that they offer a money back guarantee (excluding shipping costs)

    My question is
    (1) how can I be sure that the drive will work (considering the high international shipping costs) to 100%?

    (2) none of the contributors to this forum may recommend a hard drive internal 5400 RPM or more it has installed on the same model specification?

Thank you. You are my last hope

    Best regards
    Vince

    Hello

If you want to be 100% sure that works on your HARD drive, so I think the best way is to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Here, you can order all the devices and parts compatible and supported.
I also found these Toshiba hard disks that must be compatible:
    HDD2187B 20 GB 4 200
    HDD2190B 40 GB 4 200
    HDD2193 40 GB 5 400
    HDD2189B 60 GB 4 200
    HDD2194 60 GB 5 400
    HDD2188B 80 GB 4 200
    80 GB 5 400 HDD2191

In this case, you can use a disk HARD of GB 5 400 80 but I put t found no information about 100 GB of HARD drive.

  • Update hard drive for Z60T model 2512

I'm looking to upgrade my Z60t with a hard drive more and have a few questions.

    1. What is the biggest hard drive I can use for example 320 GB SATA, and

    2. all things special I should know when I do the installation, BIOS changes etc.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!

Any laptop SATA drive will do very well, the biggest being available a 500 GB.

Nothing should be changed in the BIOS.

    I hope this helps.

  • 15 - af004ns: update hard drive SSD 15-af004ns

    Hello

How can I change my hard drive with an SSD? Is it possible?

    Thank you.

Yes, possible. Here is the Service Manual:

    Your manual

See page 40 for instructions on removing the hard drive. A 2.5 inch wide SATA SSD will be installed instead of the hard drive. The hardest part is migration/relocation of software, but if the old drive still works, you can make a recovery HP USB or Windows itself has a capacity of backup and restore.

Technically, the removal of the hard drive is not allowed for the consumer but HP assured us if you do without damaging the computer laptop, warranty won't be not taken away.

    Hi cfpatron,

Assuming that your disks are configured as RAID 1, the best approach is to buy a drive with the same capacity that has failed, replace and allow the controller to rebuild the RAID.

    Hi Sabry75

If you have open Manage Server Administrator installed, you can do the merge from there. It's rebuild.

You can refer to the guide to using OMSA below, look under the virtual disks of re-engineering/migration: -.
