Question of GoldenGate

Hi all

We use GoldenGate (Version: 11) against the database to Oracle 11 g running on linux platform. One developer reported that given replica to the database. When I checked the status of GG, it shows running with 'Lag' 00:00:00 "time since Chkpt ' is however very high i.e. 218:29:15 and rising. Not quite sure, what could be the problem. I checked the database alert log and saw this:

I don't know what exactly was the problem, but when I rebooted the DB, replication started. However, the rpt file contains this:

I don't know what that means?

    Hello

I just watch about GoldenGate to evaluate to see if it will do what we want.  I have read a lot of information but have not fallen on the answers to some basic questions rolling in my head.  Any help would be appreciated. These are real newbie questions so I apologize if seem really Basic...

The prod environment is Oracle CARS 10.2.4 on windows 64.  The new prod environment is Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC on windows 64.  The test environment used to learn GoldenGate is Oracle 10.2.0.4 (no cars) on windows 64 as a source. It has a copy of the database of operational prod.  The target database is Oracle 11.2.0.3 (no cars) on windows 64.  The target is newly installed with a data base of departure yet created with nothing in it.  The goal is to use GoldenGate as 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 upgrade path.

Question 1 - What Versions of GoldenGate?

Of course, we will use windows 64 bit, GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1, I guess GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1 - for Oracle 10 g must be installed on the source, and GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1 - for Oracle 11 g must be installed on the target?  It is this correct?  This seems obvious, but I don't like to assume anything.

Question 2 - capacity replication and extract.

The goal is to replicate the database to 10.2.0.4 on 11.2.0.3 and have an extraction process (probably go) is going to keep the 11.2.0.3 new database, synchronized with the 10.2.0.4.

    Is this possible?

In the test environment, the 11.2.0.3 database is a new database has just grown.  There is not even the 10.2.0.4 patterns or storage spaces.  To replicate, how many the 10.2.0.4 database must be put in place?  I think the storage spaces must be created, and the users who own the schemas must be created, to match what is in the 10.2.0.4 source?

    Question 3 - a good book?

    Question 4 - a good counselor?

Thanks again for any advise you can offer!

Question 1: You're right, well if you have a MOS account, get the latest versions of OGG for your db/OS specific out there, on the site of the Patch.  There is a 11.2.1.0.12 for Oracle 11 g on windows x 64 and 11.2.1.0.4 for Oracle 10 g on Windows x 64.

Question 2: OGG is not a tool for database replication, but DATA replication software.  You must create the target on the 11.2.0.3 objects db yourself, either with EXP/IMP, RMAN restore, etc.  There are suggestions to make a first loading here: http://www.ateam-oracle.com/?s=goldengate+initial+load and using OGG in conjunction with the initial load, you can capture changes to the data (and DDL for Oracle for Oracle, but stick with the basics of DML for now) here on the.  The link above has a guide to migrate too.

Question 3: I happened to have contributed to this, so I'm a little biased, but I don't know there are many others out there: Oracle GoldenGate 11g Handbook: Robert Freeman: 9780071790888: Amazon.com: books

Question 4: Forums like this one and Oracle Learning Library (research on goldengate): Oracle Learning Library (OLL)

  • GoldenGate upgrade Question 11.2.1.0.2 to 11.2.1.0.31

We currently use GG 11.2.1.0.2 in production and I am trying to upgrade the databases, but also the GG. In my testing dbs, I initially applied patch 21158243 to bring au.31 GG. Then I was reading January patch releases for GG and found that there is a new patch BLR for her. So, I then downloaded and applied 2207655. My question is, on my production databases again must I apply 21158243, then 22076755? Or can I just ask 22076755 to niveau.2 a.31?

No, you don't have to. OGG patches are not technically patches. Each version is a complete contrast to the database.

  • GoldenGate software version question

    Hello

We are working on the transfer of our application/db between AIX and Linux x86_64.

Our application uses goldengate software. Our installed software version GG 11.2.1.0.3 SDBA.

But we want software version greater than 11.2.1.0.25 GG.

Our sdba says that 11.2.1.0.3 is the same as 11.2.1.0.30 and 11.2.1.0.3 are the newer version than 11.2.1.0.25

I don't agree with this information.

Can someone confirm if below are true?

    (1) GG version 11.2.1.0.3 is not the same as 11.2.1.0.30

    (2) GG 11.2.1.0.25 version is newer than 11.2.1.0.3

    Thank you

    Ashish

Can someone confirm if below are true?

    (1) GG version 11.2.1.0.3 is not the same as 11.2.1.0.30 to---> > true, check the release notes when downloading MOS to see what all the bugs are fixed in it.

    (2) GG 11.2.1.0.25 version is newer 11.2.1.0.3---> > true

  • Curriculum vitae of GoldenGate question

We use the classic configuration for Goldengate. Companies want to make a mass migration to our database of Siebel using Siebel EIM Chargers, but they want to disable Archivelog to make loading faster.

1.), they want to know if we can stop Goldengate extract, put the DB in noarchivelog mode, load data for a few hours, the archivelog mode, start the extract. GoldenGate will be able to extract the correct data?

Integrated method of Goldengate makes 2) has also need in Archivelog mode as a sine qua non?

3.) relating to the reliability of Goldengate extract - if extracted abends & gets restarted a few days later, but the Archivelogs are already removed from the system. GoldenGate will be able to extract the necessary changes?

    Thanks cordially

    Hello

Below you will find the answers

Q1. N ° if you disable the log archiving, data will be crush redo log itself, there will be data loss.

Q2. Yes, its necessary to avoid data loss, its useful for long running transaction and obtain the data from the location of archive.

Q3. After a few days, if you restart the extract, it will look the last reading SNA, if its not available in the log again, the process will be added

    Hope this will help.

  • GoldenGate filter questions

I'm testing Goldengate (12.1.2) with Oracle 11 g on Oracle Enterprise Linux (11.2.0.4).

One of the tests is to check that it is possible to filter the lines. I have 5 scenarios:

    (1) INSERT data and replicate only the rows that match the WHERE condition

    (2) data UPDATE where the WHERE condition met

    3) update the data on the source that leads to insert new lines on the target

    4) update the data on the source that leads to the removal of the target lines

    (5) DELETE lines

All the scenarios work except version 4 where an UPDATE on the source leads to a suppression of the target:

    SET lastname = 'Haydn.

    WHERE lastname = "Tschaikowsky"

  • Question of Architecture component GoldenGate

Reading on the architecture of the GG, I see only discussion on the components that are on the source systems target.
What GG components reside in the FMW?

    Thank you
    -Art

There is no benefit to running a GoldenGate instance on a remote server. In doing so, you introduced a point of failure (transport network to the remote server). If you lose connectivity, where are the trails? The only potential benefits are linked to the constraint of memory on the server source database, where a maxed out using 300 process instance takes about 15 GB of memory, and, possibly, a lack of disk space for the trails. Although possible, it is not probably when you consider how much it costs to license GG. If you can allow to authorize the GG, being short of RAM disk space is probably not on your list of things to worry about.

  • GoldenGate colmap question on the calculation

    Hi guys,.

I did a few replication from oracle to SQL server.

    Source DB: Oracle Table:

    create table myemps)

    Identification number,

    first name varchar2 (100),

    VARCHAR2 (100) last_name,.

    number of salary

    );

    Target DB: SQL Server DB:

    CREATE TABLE [dbo]. [myemps] (

    [id] [digital](18, 0) NOT NULL,

    [full_name] [varchar] NULL (300),

    [salary] [digital] (18, 0) NULL,

    [first name] [varchar] NULL (200),

    [name] [varchar] NULL (200),

    CLUSTERED PRIMARY KEY

    (

    [id] ASC

    ) WITH (PAD_INDEX =-OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]

    ) ON [PRIMARY]

    The params replicat:

    REPLICAT MSREP1

    TargetDB ggs_nc

    GETTRUNCATES

    APPLYNOOPUPDATES

    SOURCEDEFS dirdef/source.def

CARD scott.customer, dbo.customer of the TARGET.

    card scott.myemps, target dbo.myemps,

    COLMAP (USEDEFAULTS,

    SALARY = @COMPUTE(SALARY * 12)

    FULL_NAME = @STRCAT (LAST_NAME, ",", FIRST_NAME));

    The problem is the updates on the first single _name on Oracle, updates not reflecting to full_name on SQL Server;

    Sample:

I have published a couple of Oracle SQL:

    insert into myemps (id, first_name, last_name, salary) values (2, 'A', 'B', 100000);

    commit;

Update myemps set name is 'CCCC' where id = 2;.

    commit;

After the updates, the full_name on SQL Server must be 'B, CCCC', but it remains B.

    Can someone explain this?

    Thank you.

I guess it has something to do with not having all the columns in the source with which to the @STRCAT. If you did a TRANDATA ADD on the source table, then everything that happens in your update for the replicate folder is the key and the first_name column. But if the first name is updated, you must also last_name so that you can format the target full_name column correctly and vice versa, because they have to replace the entire string full_name. A way to do this is to always connect supplementally both first_name and last_name. That's an exaggeration, but I don't think that there is a way to bind an additional record of a column to another (for example, to log last_name only when the name is updated).

    Best regards

    Mary

  • Replication to a unalterable target with GoldenGate on 12 c

    Hello

I tried to configure replication between two bases of 12 c with GoldenGate. The target will be read-only.

Based on this article, it is my impression that GoldenGate supports replication to read only targets:

    https://docs.Oracle.com/GoldenGate/1212/Gg-Winux/GWUAD/wu_live_reporting.htm#GWUAD212

"Configuring direct reports Oracle GoldenGate supports a dead target."

However, when I put the database on the target read-only (with "ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY"). I get this error on replicate target and the replicat added.

ERROR OGG - 00870 Oracle GoldenGate for Oracle delivery, rinta.prm: database error 16000 (ORA-16000: connectable to open for read-only... Access database or database)

Can someone please clarify what 'read only' really means in the article above? How can I configure the target to be read-only if the database read-only is not what expected GoldenGate?

    Thank you!

    Simon

I agree that the sentence in question is confusing.

Target db GG can certainly not be n read-only mode. What the documentation trying to say very poor way is - you can have an active replication / passive with GG, where the single database is updated by applications, users, and the other receives the changes via GG (it is not updated by the users/applications)

  • A few questions in OGG

    Hi, dear all:

I'm a newbie OGG DBA, and I had two questions toubled me.

    1. my OGG install in/goldengate/ogg, and I want to change GG_HOME directory of /goldengate, how do I do? Can I just move all files in the/goldengate/ogg to /goldengate and simply restart the process of Bishop?

    2. in my RAC env, I want to change the log directory archive, can I change the settings TRANLOGOPTIONS ALTARCHIVELOGDEST extract and relaunch the process of extract?

    Thanks for all your response!

I could do this in two steps.

    1. reinstall OGG in the new GG_HOME and then migrate all the settings files, etc. in the new House.  After that make sure everything works.

    2. I wouldn't change nothing until the step 1 is done.  In this way you minimize problems if they occur.

    Thank you!

  • GoldenGate version on two different versions of source/target databases

I am trying to download goldengate, but do not know where the goldengate should be installed.

So should I download for the Sun (11g) gg and gg for linux (11g)?

Thank you very much for the help.

    >

One last question, is it difficult to implement the test migration and then implement in the real prod migration?

Not really that complicated, in my opinion. But it's important to test things to knowledge will be waiting during the race and you are already planning for it. So all the best!

This is not the forum for GoldenGate. I think it is not yet a forum for it, so your best option is the replication forum where you also asked this question.
There is a request to create a forum of GoldenGate in My Oracle Support Communities, then try to add your name to this topic.

  • iOS 10 people record problem/question

    Hello

I have a couple of "faces" in the issue of people who are coming in white, but acknowledged same 'face' of many times.  Is anyway to update it for photo comes actually?  At a few faces, I don't know that facial recognition found since it is coming from white.

    Hi JohnP007,

Congratulations on your iPhone 7 more running iOS 10! I understand that some of your faces in the album of people pull up as a draft and you want to refresh. You can try to use the steps below to fix the faces on the thumbnails in albums.

    Difficulty faces and names mixed-up

If you notice that there is a photo of someone in a collection that is poorly identified, you can remove it.

    1. Tap the person you want to remove in the album of people > select.
    2. Type Show done face to emphasize his face in every photo.
    3. Press on each photo that is not the person.
    4. Type > not this person.

    Hide people

You can hide the people or groups that you don't want in your album of people.

    1. Open the album people and press Select.
    2. Touch the people you don't want to see.
    3. Click Hide.

If you want to see the people that you have hidden, press on show hidden people.

People in the Photos on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

This should be corrected without delay faces. Please use the Apple Support communities to post your question. Good day.
