Question of partition size

Oracle Version: 11.2.0.2
Operating system platform: Solaris 10

EXPLAIN the plan of output (or any other method) to a SQL, how can we say that the size of Partition is not the case?

What can be done to ensure that the optimizer will only look at the relevant partition (not the entire table) for the records it seeks?

How to determine if the size of Partition was used

If Oracle uses partition size is reflected in the plan of execution of a statement, in the table of the plan for the instruction of the EXPLAIN PLAN or in the shared SQL area.

The partition size information are reflected in the columns of the PSTART (PARTITION_START) and PSTOP (PARTITION_STOP) plan. For series instructions, information of pruning is also reflected in the columns OPTIONS and OPERATION.

  • How to increase partition size Windows 8 main drive (C :)

I upgraded my PC from XP to windows 8 online.

I never had the ability to change my partition sizes.

Windows 8 consumes 20GB of disk space more then XP.

So now I'm running out of storage.

Currently I have a 1 TB drive... 100 GB primary and 900 GB of data.

How can I change the primary C: to 200 GB?

    Thank you

You will need to use a third-party tool to do this.

Two of the most popular seem to be (the two free BTW):

    GParted
    http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/

    MiniTool Partition Wizard

  • CentOS/Boot partition size defined in VMWare Workstation?

    Guys,

Just installed a new machine virtual (CentOS), but I can't launch a 'yum update' because the partition/Boot is not big enough.  Says I need more than 24MB.

I prefer not to use Gparted to resize it.

How do you define the partition size when you create a new virtual machine?  I saw an option to set the virtual disk - which I have set for 100 GB.

    TIA

In case you want to set your own values, do not use EasyInstall. Use the custom option, and then select 'I'll install the operating system later' when you create the virtual machine and then manually run the installation of OS.

  • The Bootcamp Partition size

Hello, recently I downloaded windows on my Macbook Pro early 2015, using boot camp. However, I underestimated the size and now want to increase it. I heard using popular tools to resize like Wiinclone, but I've also heard risks related to the use of such tools. If I wanted to create a new partition and delete the old, I could use the same Windows 10 I bought?

    Welcome to Apple Support communities

Of course. Once you enable Windows 10, your product key gets connected to your Mac, so Microsoft is automatically activated your Mac after you have reinstalled Windows 10 as many times as you need.

Apart from that, you're going to do the right thing. This is why it is so important give the Windows partition you think you're going to need space.

  • Question of partition: partition and narrower than the disk space

Hi, I have a big problem with OS X El Capitan 10.11.3.

I used to have a Windows partition with bootcamp which I deleted via bootcamp, but it crashed.

I lost all my partitions and even os x. I have therefore started in recovery mode and launched disk utility, I could not create a partition OS X 90Go on my 120 GB SSD, and I installed OS X on it. Once installed, I have tried to maximize the size of the partition in disk utility to the actual size of the SSD, but it wouldn't work. Worse still, it actually shows my OS X partition a 60 GB instead of 90... (we also say that change log has not been activated, I allowed him but nothing happened)

How can I make my OS X partition as big as my SSD?

Here are some pictures of the utility disc and occupied disk space.

Try to launch the Boot Camp again to see if it will delete the partition. It acts like it doesn't have.

  • Question about partitions on Equium A100-027

    Hi all!

I'm new to the forum but have been hidden for a while and he thought at the time that I said "Hello".

This and the fact that I have a question about my laptop Satellite A100-027.
The hard drive on my laptop seems to be divided into three partitions = Vista (c) / data (E :) / WinRE (d) with the WinRE (D :) is quite small but others, quite large.))

My C drive is up to 3 that GB free with about 35 GB of free data (E :) is possible to merge these two to give me a big drive? And if so, how?
Please excuse my ignorance, but it seems impossible to me to "get my head around" this thing hard drive and would split the a large hard drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and once again, Hello to all.

    Hello

As the user previous already said, you can manage HARD drive partitions in disk management settings.

If you n t want to have a data partition (e) then you can try to delete it in disk management.
Then you can add this empty space of the HARD drive for other partitions on the HARD drive.

But note; the empty space will be placed at the end of the HARD drive. I don't know if your C partition is placed as a second HARD drive partition, but if so, then it should be no problem to add empty space to partition C (System) of m.

  • Two Questions of Partition

I want to change the drive letter of a couple of scores. For the current configuration, see: http://paulrittman.com/CompMng.png.

I want to do is make my score of documents (currently F), d.

It is, the letter D is currently assigned to a backup partition. When I right click on the partition in the center pane higher in my screenshot, I don't get anything in the context menu, but a link to a help file. When I click on partition F, however, I don't see the option to change the drive letter assigned.

In addition, if you look in the upper middle pane, you will see two instances of the recovery partition (D).

    So my two questions:

    (1) is there a way I can change the drive letter of the partition recoery? Or even if I can him, isn't it advised?

    (2) the presence of two lines to my D recovery partition in this upper middle pane means anything it either bad - such as, if I ever need, will be miss BIOS Windows / connection and refuses to start or restore from this partition?

No, you cannot because the Manager of Recorvey needed. but you can create a recovery (DVD, USB) media and delete. Please note: you must correctly create and keep in a safe place.

  • Z580 i5, 500 GB with no windows 7 - default partition size.

    Hello everyone.

I spent the last 3 hours of googling and reading this forum especially for all information on the system of the okr and the size of the partition.

unfortunly, I wasn't aware of the importance of the drive d partition and I wiped it and it has merged drive c.

After a few experemiting with the sizes of the partitions, I was able to use the okr system and create a back up of my system (windows 7 ulitmate). However when I try to use the back up to restore my pc it says that I can't move forward because the size of partition is not default.

I want to know is what was the partitions by default in order to get the okr system works properly.

If any lenovo emploey can check the z580 with 500 GB model, with no partitions windows 7, I will be verry gratefull.

I remember that I got 4 partitions at startup:

    1. no system of labels with boot partition files (as I remember it was 29-30 gb)

    2 C drive - with close to 400 GB.

    3. d-arround 30 GB drive (used for the lenovo system okr I think).

    4. last disc is 1.5 GB with some software from lenovo.

Please if any1 buys a new Z580 500 GB, pls write on this thread what was your default partitions (exact size + type of partition: fat32/ntfs etc.).

Thanks for reading and I hope that a good person can help me cope with this problam.

OK, after much reading on the forum here, I was able to find a some1 post, which was close enough problam as I had and I did as he suggested, and it worked.

Allow me to explain people what I did for any1 who could be on the same problam like me:

first of all, let me say what I had at the time of the problam of partitions:

    1. with no label - system partition (containing the boot system files) - used to be 29 gb.

2 drive c-400 GB (location of windows 7).

    3. d-ntfs partition 29,32 gb drive

4 lenovo-part - partition (hidden, and btw I have not touched it since I baught pc) 1.08 GB.

what I've done is pretty simple:

    1. I reinstalled everything first OKR disc system I got with the pc.

    2. with a partition management program, I deleted the d drive partition and gave all its space on the system partition.

what I once changes is therefore:

    1 partition-arround 60 GB system.

    2 drive c: 400Go

    3. lenovo-part 1.08.

Anyway, at this time, I was able to create my system restore by using System okr but also to recover using the recovery at startup mode.

    hope this helps any1.

  • Questions of partition T43 (1871) hidden

I was given an old T43 (1871), on which I could install Windows 7 and, surprisingly, have almost everything works pretty well (even if there are two elements in the device manager that do not seem to be cooperating). Regardless, it works well (for an old machine Pentium-M with 2 GB of RAM).

    Here's my question:

There is a hidden partition which, if I understand correctly, contains information of the recovery, to make the machine in the way it was when it came from the factory. As this machine comes with XP and I now have Win7, is it safe to erase and delete this partition? Or is there something in this partition that has something to do with the blue Access IBM button that seems to be the equivalent after pressing the DELETE key in a generic Windows PC? Just in case I am confused the issue, let me rephrase the question. Relying on the Access IBM button above the keyboard works correctly (to choose a different disk or enter the BIOS) if I remove the area of the hidden partition (assuming I want to restore the T43 in its delivered state of XP?

If I have fubar was the question, please let me know and I'll try to clarify. Thank you very much.

    Barry

    Welcome to the forum!

It is perfectly safe to nuke the recovery partition you have no intention to run XP on this T43.

Once the recovery partition is removed, the blue button will offer you start options and nothing else.

  • question of partition dividing Acer e1 - 572 g

    Hello everyone I bought an acer e1 - 572 g with a 750HDD.

My question is can I divide the c partition into two halves without effect on the hidden restore partition?

or won't be able to recover the factory default after?

    Thank you

Yes, that's right, this happened to me a few years back with Vista, resumption of the factory was stuck when I left the partitions in the alteration of the State but when switched back to the original set upward (IE, as it was when I bought the laptop) recovery plant is completed without a hitch.

  • minimum partition size for installing windows xp pro on a 80 GB hard drive

I need to reinstall windows xp pro on my computer that I had a virus that slowed down the entire system.

If I partition the hard drive to install the software for xp, what s the minimum space necessary to do incase I get a virus and have to reinstall windows without erasing all my data.
    Thank you

Well, if you look at this thread, you will see that you "run" Windows XP in a 7 GB partition: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-performance/i-have-a-7gb-hdd-running-xp-it-has-very-few/13cf682f-9847-414a-9e9f-83c5c229d3cd but what computer "has very few applications and no photo or music.

A more realistic size would be 18-20 GB.

I suggest regular backups instead of make a partition of the "minimum size".  If you follow your current plan, you will be before too long asked how to develop your system partition, because it is too small.

  • The duration of defragmentation and partition sizes?

I have a computer with a 600 GB hard drive size.  I created two partitions, a 60 GB for the operating system (Windows Vista 32-bit) and the rest (540 GB) for data.  The main reason for the creation of a 60 GB OS partition was because I was worried that having that a 600 GB for the operating system and data partition would take unnecessarily long to defragment.  My assumption is correct that it is better and faster to defragment a 60 GB and a 540 GB partition separately instead of constantly to defragment a single 600GO parition?  Several years ago I remember reading that because different methods between Windows and Linux of the way the data is stored on a hard drive, only Linux can be installed on one big partition with no problems and that Windows must be installed on two separate partitions, a smaller bone and much more for data.  It is still considered true and advised?

    Thank you

    Xubu

    Hello

With Windows and data on different disks is advisable however defragmentation speed
what the reason. First and foremost, is the ability to repair or reinstall Windows without affecting the
data. Adding it is easier to backup data and the same image of the operating system as well.

Different OS partitions and data are good, completely separate readers are better.

    I hope this helps.

  • Three questions on partitioning

    RDBMS version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: RHEL 6.4

    Type of environment: OLTP

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We have a large non partitioned table with 4 billion documents and is 3 TB in size.

We want to partition this table so that it can be easily maintained. We prefer partitioning on a daily basis.

We are required by law to retain data only for 15 days. So, let's drop these scores after 15 days.

    The existing table using tablespaceA.

We want to score range (with INTERVAL) by the CREATED_DATE column. We want to move the existing data to the great partition of base called PRE_2016 as shown below.

    About, it would look like

    create the table order_dtl

    (

    number of order_id,

billable_flg not null char (1 car)

complmntry_flg not null char (1 car)

    order_quantity_luom not null varchar2 (20)

    .

    .

    .

    CREATED_DATE timestamp (6)

    )

    partition by range (created_date)

    interval (numtodsinterval(1,'DAY'))

    (

    PRE_2016 PARTITION VALUES LOWER THAN (TO_DATE (DECEMBER 31, 2015 23:59:59 ',' HH24:MI:SS DD-MON-YYYY ',' NLS_CALENDAR = GREGORIAN '))

    )

    IN-STORE (tablespaceA, tablespaceB, tablespaceC);

Question1. No idea how long it will take to make Exchange a partitiong using redefining online? Just a rough estimate would be.

Question2. In the existing table, we have data for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015. When you create the partitioned table mentioned above, is there a way that we could divide the base for the years 2015 and 2013,2014 partition?

Question3. After redefining online, I have to manually create the constraints and indexes. Right?

None of the suggestions/recommendations are welcome

For daily partitions, I understand that clues them are better.

Better to do what? Consider CHOOSING. You expect to have 15 partitions. Search by index of a local index no prefixes will be so fifteen index partitions, which will have about 15 times so that the search for an overall index of research. Indeed, you may find that the optimizer favors the scans. Are you sure that you want to partition at all? Partitioning can make sense if you have hundreds or thousands of scores, but just fifteen years? Why bother?

  • Using partition size.

What is the size of the final c: drive on this computer (640 GB HDD) after all of the installation? I installed a dual boot linux distribution, but then decided to remove it and want to make sure that the partition I made so that it is not just sitting there wasting space hard disk.

A 640 GB hard drive sold by the manufacturer presents itself as a little less than 600 GB for Windows, IE on 596 gigs.

  • Question about the size of the Previews folder

    Hello

This is my first question on Lightroom, so I would really appreciate help ^^

My setup is as follows: a LR catalog, with about 51,000 photos. The total size of the pictures takes up approximately 252 GB (they are between 10 Mpx-22MP).

I implemented the previews as follows: auto-size (2560px), average quality, ignore the insights 1:1 after 1 day.

Now my previews is 50 GB!

    Is this normal?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

Yes this is normal looking at the configuration and the number of images that you have in the catalog.

Check this similar to the forum thread.

I hope it will be useful.
