• vSphere Eval question on storage

  I have 4 servers to assess vSphere and here's what I have to work with, where I am and my question on storage.

  3 HP DL380 G5 servers with 8 GB of ram each and 4x146GB discs

  1 HP DL380 G6 Server with 12 GB and 3x146GB, 5x300GB readers.

  I installed ESXi4 Server G6 with two data warehouses, Go first, 268, second 1.09 TB.

  I intend to install ESXi4 on the other 3 machines and have vCenter

  The server that is running under VM on two servers.

  Now to my question.

  I'm not a tradional SAN device. I have a lot of space, however, if you add up all the disks on the 4 servers. How you prefer to use

  existing hardware, I have to install a configuration compatible HA, vMotion and DRB.  Again, by using the 4 servers with the

  current hard drives installed.  Can I create a virtual SAN using the disc on 4 servers? I think I understand the delivery of two virtual machines

  vCenter on 2 separate servers running in a reasonable way?

  Thanks for any help. My first attempt trying to configure ESX/Vsphere.

  StorMagic www.stormagic.com has a free virtual SAN for vSphere.

  You can create up to 2 TB per ESX with the free license.

  You should be able to test vSphere (HA, DRS, vMotion)

  However, I don't see that FT is not fully supported.

  How to downgrade the 5 GB of free storage and you want to say that if it is short of funds, it will be cancelled. I think it's an annual fee

  If you pay for additional storage to iCloud and you do not want to renew it, then go to settings > iCloud > storage > change storage Plan, then select the "Downgrade" option to come back the next time it happens for the renewal.

  Don't know what means your question about funds available, but I'm guessing you are asking about what happens if you can't pay for extra storage during the processing of the charge. In this case, the extra storage will be lost.

• Question of Storage vMotion

  Newbie VMware admin here, I hope it's an easy question. I have several boxes of Microsoft SQL I need to move the drive on which the operating system is installed on, they have all RDM attached when I try a storage vmotion, it looks like her wanting to move all the drives instead of one, i have never attempted to move a system with RDM attached to it, but I need to get away from this former storage we have urged. All tips are appreciated thank you!

  Is it safe to use RR as the path selection strategy? Unfortunately, the Documentation is not quiete clear here.

• LUN ID Question - Adding storage

  Hello

  I have a question for the LUN ID that appears in Virtual Center 2.5 when you add storage to an ESX host.  When I go in stock add and select my LUN newly created in the list, it continues to display LUN ID 0.  This isn't the logical unit number ID that matches the LUN ID in the Dell SAN.  The other LUN, first one that has been created in my storage ESX group is set to LUN ID 11, also, it does not match the LUN ID in the Dell SAN.

  The LUN ID is important at all?  Why the first created LUN LUN ID 11?  This leads me to think that maybe I should not attempts to use LUN ID 0 for anything.

  This is probably a stupid question, but I want to just make sure that there is nothing wrong with the help of LUN ID 0 for this new storage.  If I shouldn't use LUN ID 0, how VirtualCenter to allow me to change the identification number of the logic unit number?

  The ID of LUNS ESX gives your storage space and the Lun ID that gives dell storage are two separate things that are inconsistent with each other.  ESX sets its own LUN ID which are very good, we have LUN ID 0 and 1 no problem here

  I had my first MacBook Pro yesterday and everything set up and charges. When I went to 'about this Mac' and deposit, he said I have 1.67 GB of Audio, almost 1 GB of Photos and a few MB of movies. I do not have any content on my new Pro. Is it possible because I signed with my Apple I had on my old PC I got music, etc. ID. ?

  I instaled all the drivers, as the content of the file and indicates the order of Installation, but there as always Mass Storage Controller under yellow flags in Device Manager.

  I'm trying to decide between the 4 and 8 GB Sansa Clip +.

  I think 8 GB is all I'd need but I already have a microSD card and 4 GB Sansa is cheaper.

  I don't know how the SD memory card is handled.

  When an SD card is installed is considered a separate folder or is all managed as if it were a storage space during music playback?

  Is the internal storage device on the SD card with respect to the use of speed and battery?

  When copying music do I need to worry if it does not have internal or SD card, or this is handled automatically?

  The Sansa will read while internal and microSD memory together for the Album, artist, etc.. He built a database - index - in tags, electronic tags in files.

  If you put the device in MSC mode, I recommend, it looks like the card slot and the internal memory as two separate if drives you to post the computer. So it's your choice, where the music is going. But no matter the device once it's inside.

  I don't know how different internal and microSD are for use of the battery - probably very lttle - but the speed is the same.

  Settings system/settings/USB Mode. MSC is a simple way, as have two flash memory drives internal (4 GB or 8 GB) and the map. MTP allows you to do things through Windows Media Player, which makes the camera a virtual device blah blah blah... not worth it unless you use library books in need of PSG to their codes to unlock hidden.

  Change Meteorological Service of Canada, rather than auto-detection, or you will probably get Auto shunted by DPW. The idea was to make Windows Media Player/Sansa operate like iTunes/iPod, but it is not as simple as that.  If you think about it, Apple software and hardware control, so iTunes must only work with a relative handful of gadgets. Windows, however, is on all kinds of material with all kinds of oddities, Windows Media Player is something messier trying to cope with them all.

  If you are really attached to the old ways, the unit also has a setting (under music) folders allows you to separately observe internal and card slot as if they were separated, but you don't have to.

  It IS more complicated to make playlists that bounce between the internal storage and card connector, but it can be done.

  I keep all my music on a 32 GB card and zero on in-house. If I were you, I would get the cheaper and do that. Then if the internal memory is never wrong, you can just switch all your music into the next unit by popping the microSD card. I think that you can now even use as card 64 GB if your format it in FAT32.

  I just bought a 64 GB SanDisk Ultra for $28 for sale at B & H. These sales continue to flow, memory continues to become less expensive. What you really need is a microSD reader, and the Clip + is good at that.

  Get the 4 GB, the value Settings/System Settings/USB Mode MSC, put everything on the map, have fun.

  I tried to reduce my c disk space and got a finally.now error in disk management, is to show the ACE (97.6 gb) volume of c drive but in windows Explorer, is to show the volume of disk c after shrink(75.35gb).what to do it now? I went through the disk check, but no use.

  It is not clear to me if you have a problem of storage on your iPhone or in iCloud. You can go to settings > general > storage & use of iCloud. Note that there are then 2 sections on this screen - storage (which is on your phone) and iCloud. Each section has a storage management where you can see more details.

  I couldn't really find an answer out there on a question about storage on the new ATV4.

  New screensavers Ariel are impressive. As most of you know there is a new option to download new videos daily, weekly, ect...

  Just below it warn you that downloads can take up 600 MB of storage. Considering that I have the 32 GB model, I was curious to see exactly how it works. There is no place in the general settings that show all of the files real screensaver downloaded in order to manually delete to free up storage.

  Are replaced by the new, old screen saver because they are downloaded? Or am I earning the 600 MB each day as a new screensaver downloads? If anyone has any info or advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you guys!

  Yes, each screensaver is about ~ 200 MB. So if you choose all day every day about 3 new vids are added and 3 yesterday are replaced.  Every month means that you get the same videos every month. There is no 'user management' for storage on the ATV.  It's some people have limits of data and do not want to use their allowance for a change of daily screensaver...
