Question on visibility network file share

Hello

I recently took a project to rework our file sharing server. I created the permissions by group and assigned to users, and everything is functional. However, there are some users I want to limit access to only a few specific folders in the root share files. Currently, it works, but the rest of the files are still visible to them. Is there a way I can set it up so that they can see that they can access folders?

Thanks is advance for the help!

I thought about it. Some of our actions of root had no active ABE (didn't know what who was until a few moments ago). Now everything works fine.

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a slow flow on my LAN, my main office and another office in a nearby room, which is used as a digital recorder. Both are fine Internet download about 2.0Mbps + effective flow. But the copy of the files between them (which should be a lot faster!), I'm moving 400 to 500 Kbps. Since one is used as a digital video recorder, it is a problem, try to copy large video files, or stream videos in HD quality on my network who stutters. It's frustrating getting the best quality watch Netflix, than from another computer in my own home.

Both have compatible 802.11n wireless NIC; one is a card PCI Rosewill RNX-N300, and the other is a TP-LINK WN951N PCI - E card. I use the Atheros drivers on the machine of TP-LINK; on the other hand, it seems that Atheros does not support the Rosewill cards very well, so it is the driver of stock. Even on the TP-LINK machine; using the factory instead of Atheros driver, doesn't seem to help. My router is configured for WPA2 802.11n 'Mode of Performance '. I also tried Compatibility Mode and everything else I can think.

I realize that the Atheros drivers are not supported here, but I don't think it's relevant, as the factory, or native Windows 7 generic NIC drivers appear to have the same problems. I tried to minimize interference with cards, which usually get 3-4 of 5 bars. WAN speed being much faster, I doubt that's the issue. Wired ethernet is out of the question for me, but pretty much the same speed powerline adapters, seems no better/worse. LAN ping times are 1-2 ms.

Is there something I'm missing here? Both machines are running Windows 7 Pro x 64. I wonder if there is a key "reg" to the packet size or anything else that might help. I would chalk up to the nature of wireless cards, if it wasn't for much better WAN speeds. I believe that it is a problem of operating system settings; all other devices on the network, continue to get faster internet blazing ascent/descent speeds, even though the slow file copies/streaming are underway.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • I can't get the XP computer recognize the Windows 7 network file share more wireless

Problem file/network sharing wireless with a professional system XP and Windows 7

I have 2 computers - 1 with XP and Windows 7 pro upgrade and use a secure wireless network...  I have set up my network on the new computer and can see the files on my new XP computer, but I can't get the XP computer to recognize Windows 7 one.  What should I do?

    Hi Captive,

    Method 1:

I suggest you to check if temporarily uninstall the antivirus software on the computer Windows XP allows you to connect properly.

But don't forget to install the software after troubleshooting is done such that your computer will be at risk.

    Method 2:
You can also check the settings of firewall on the windows XP computer. You can check if the ports are opened correctly for the network to connect. See the help link - below
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/283673

    Method 3:
If the problem persists, you can even perform the clean boot on the Windows XP computer and check if you can identify the application that is causing problems in the clean boot state. To perform the clean boot follow step 1, mentioned in the article, below, and then try again checking in this state of boot -

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the issue is resolved check what non-Microsoft service or program is at the origin of the problem. referring to article and following the other steps.
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    b. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

    c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    I hope this helps.

  • VMware Fusion keeps resetting my network file

I'm trying to set up a Windows Server VM and allow access to external computers through RDP/DRC. To enable port forwarding, I added the following text to the end of my "/ Library/Preferences/VMWare Fusion/network" file (addresses changed because I'm paranoid that way):

    [incomingtcp]

    # Port forwarding for incoming RDP requests

    3389 = 172.16.252.10:3389

    [incomingudp]

    # Port forwarding for incoming RDP requests

    3389 = 172.16.252.10:3389

The problem is that every time I restart VMWare Fusion, my network file returns to its previous state, and my updated the file is stored in networking.bak.0.

    Am I missing something here?

If it helps: I'm under VMWaare Fusion 7.1.2. Network of my VM is set to NAT (alias "share with my MAC"). My virtual computer is configured with a static IP, the same, I added in the network file. I tested DRC between host and the VM and it works fine, I just need to enable access by other computers on the same network.

Thanks in advance to anyone reading and/or responding to this.

I know it's lame to answer my own question, but I just realized what was wrong. Apparently, I got some wrong information about the Internet, and I should have added the text in the file nat.conf instead of the network file.

  • Using ESXi for file shares

    Hi all

    OS: Windows 2003 STD 32-bit

Currently our DC FSMO is also a file server with many shares and printers that are running on a DELL PE2650

We bought a Dell PowerEdge 2950, 8 GB of RAM, 1.5 to RAID5 to move the FSMO domain controller, but the upgrade of the OS has not been approved, given that Windows 2003 STD may not use more than 4 GB of RAM, we divide the 2 Server 1 server just for the DC, DNS, and WINS and 1 server host the file share and can accommodate 2 servers on the Dell PE2950 ESXi

question 1 and our main concern: ESXi is suitable for file sharing host 200 users have mapped drives and running applications from?

2 given that the Dell PE2950 2 NIC can we dedicate a NIC to server file sharing?

    TIA

    1: Yes, it's not a problem.

2: Yes, you will need to create a vSwich separate the file with separate uplink NIC server and use the second NETWORK card on a second vSwitch for management and other virtual machines.

    Kind regards

  • SBS 2011 and Windows 2008 file share

I have a sbs 2011 and a regular Server 2008 domain. I need to set up a file share that can see both areas. I discovered what a normal two-way transitive trust between them is a bad idea. Wanting to know if there is a better way to do it by side just setting up user accounts in the regular field of 2008 (where the share resides) which corresponds to the account of sbs domain, setting up the collective right to the share, and map the drive to the sbs domain workstations. I don't like this method because changing a password on the sbs domain would require a manual modification to synchronize on the regular field.

  • Loose ability to browse file shares after vMotion

    Some configuration information.

2 ESXi hosts: HostA and HostB

2 physical switches (both connected to the same subnet, vlan, all connected to the same switch to base: SwitchA and SwitchB)

    1 VM in question: FileServerVM

FileServerVM is running on HostA, which is physically connected to SwitchA.  (B host is physically connected to SwitchB).

I have FileServerVM from HostA to HostB vMotion.  So far so good.  Can communicate with FIleServerVM very well through anything I try except file shares.  When I try to access a drive that is mapped to FIleServerVM it fails or if I just eyebrows at \\FileServerVM\ it fails.  If I vMotion FileServerVM return of host b to HostA, everything suddenly starts working again.

Anyone encountered this before?  Any suggestions?

Found the problem.  The vSwitch on HostB has several physical maps that are entrusted.  One of them was related to one VLAN incorrect.

  • RMAN to the ASM and network file system

    Hi all

    I use Oracle RAC 11 g R2 + ASM.
I am new to RMAN, but I am trying to build daily tasks to do below:

    1. backup of my database to the FRA located on ASM diskgroup + FRA.
    2. at the same time I want to save my database for Network File System (NFS) to be taken by system administrators to an archive location that I can't access. Since according to my knowledge can't copy files to ASM for outside... so for this I'm planing to use the command format of the NFS mount point.
    3. on daily basis in the NFS file will be taken by a work (that I am not responsible for) to the Archive, and then it will be purged from this location.
    4. I am planing to have my windows of 15 days retention strategy.
    5. on every day, I am planing to cross check my backup and then delete the expired so that taken from NFS in the journal of the archives is deleted.

The RMAN I am planing to run it on a daily basis are:
backup incremental level 0 cumulative device type disk tag 'FULL_DB_INCR_LV0' database; -- this will be to the default location (+FRA)
backup incremental level 0 cumulative device type disk tag 'FULL_DB_INCR_LV0' database format 'NFS/oracle/backup%U';--another copy to be taken to the archive location
    crosscheck backupset;
delete expired backupset; -- this will delete the backups taken to the Archive location
    Now my questions:

1 what good solutions? take account of the fact that I need backup on the file system of the operating system so that the jobs of system administrators take the backup of their archives.
    2. If a backup is needed, I use CATALOGUE START WITH to recover and then recover.
    3. because my retention period is 15 days, and the backup in NFS files will be deleted on a daily basis, so this retention will apply for backups in ASM, is this a problem?

    Hello

Easy way is to use the tag. Find the number of backupset is a difficult task.

Create a template for your tag with a date.

How to use the Substitution Variables of orders RMAN [427229.1 ID]

How to use the tag name of RMAN with different attributes or variables. [580283.1 ID]

You can check which backup doesn't have a copy on NFS using the query below:

    SELECT BS.RECID BSKEY,
      BP.RECID KEY,
      BP.RECID RECID,
      BS.PIECES PIECECOUNT,

    WHERE (BP.SET_COUNT = BS.SET_COUNT
    AND BP.SET_STAMP = BS.SET_STAMP)

  • Question/security of network design

I would like to get opinions on the design of a network of our ESX host.  We have a couple of the main areas of ESX, each with 10 physical network interface cards.  We have the following in our environment:

-iSCSI and NAS storage (so two cards NETWORK is for IP storage)

-2 separate networks for virtual machines - 1 for admin interfaces (not for users) and the other for servers in production (for users)

    Current configuration is:

2 NICs (SC and admin VMs)

    2 NICs (IP storage)

    2 NICs (vMotion)

3 NETWORK interface cards (Production Server virtual machines)

I would like opinions on how course of a facility that is.  Is it a question of having the SC share a vSwitch with the VMs admin?  They are on the same VLAN physical.   We do not control the switches, is not really an option to configure the VLANS on switches.  Thank you.

    Hello

Thank you.  I think that I can not have explained myself quite clearly.  I was not suggesting put Admin VMs and the connections on the same vSwitch as the Production Server VMs.  On the contrary, I was concerned by the SC being on the same vSwitch as the VMs Admin, I do not think that it is a good practice to.  In our environment, we have a single subnet for all virtual machines, separated into 2 subnets on the physical switches.  We do not use (or want to use) VLAN tagging on the vSwitches.  There is the firewall between each of our VLAN.  So, the admin VMs are separated from the VLAN Production by a firewall.  My real question is the size of a security problem for the SC and the admin virtual machines to share a vSwitch if they already share a physical network?  We do not have the ability to create a separate network or VLAN just for traffic SC.  Our environment now looks like this:

Because they already share the same physical network sharing the same vSwitch is not a huge or any concerns. Consider the vSwitch another part of your administrative network. The best practice is to put all the management servers and virtualization workstations within the same firewall network. You have done this.

-natachasery 2-SC & admin VM network (local network VIRTUAL 0 192.168.15.0/24)

Works for me. I often use the Administrative VMS and place them on the vSwitch with the SC. After all they are using the same network and the vSwitch is just another part of the Web of network switch.

    -3 natachasery - Prod VM network (VLAN 1 192.168.15.0/24)

Not sure I would use 3 but I leave that to you.

    -2 natachasery - VMKernel & SC (10.10.1.0/8)

It passes through security zones. I would use rather your firewall administration to fill ports of CHAP protocol between IP storage network and the administrative network. What you have is a common, but not the safest practice you have now 2 attack points in the service console of administration network and from the network of IP storage. This could include the possibility of virtual computers that use iSCSI initiators. Because everything you need is to have the SC participate for CHAP (whether you use it or not), you can easily use your existing administrative firewall to do this. You may need to fix things up a bit to within your network to make this happen, but it would be how I would address this possible security problem.

    -2 natachasery-vMotion (172.16.32.0/16)

    Sounds good.

It would be useful to create a fifth vSwitch just to house the VMs admin, so that they do not share a vSwitch and natachasery with SC?

    Not really. Same Security Zone.

    Best regards

  • Google Chrome diverted file/share/Email this Page in Safari 9.0.1

This is OS X El Capitan version 10.11.1 on a late 2009 iMac.

The problem is that it has become impossible for Safari 9.0.1 to 'share' a Web page by emailing via Apple Mail (9.1). When 'file' / ' share ' / "send this Page" is enabled in Safari, Google Chrome launches and opens a webmail account. Until then, when "file" / "share" / "send this Page" has been selected in Safari, Apple Mail would activate.

Google seems to be the co-optation "Mail" extension, because navigate to menu Apple/System Preferences/Extensions/action Menu brings up a list of extensions that can be enabled or disabled. The extension called "E-mail" is displayed, but it cannot be selected or deselected; It is dimmed and monitored; and scaling "Mail" icon is the icon of Google Chrome.

If the extension of "Mail" unalterable interferes with Apple Mail 9.1?
