Question sleep Vista Ultimate

Hi all

I have a question regarding vista and my hardware not wake me up after you put the computer in standby mode. My bios is set for s3 and reminder VGA bios is enabled. I get a black screen and no function keyboard or mouse suite. Some of the forums I have watch say it is perhaps a matter of Nvidia, others say that its an OS problem. The one you suggest options that I might be able to try?

Card mother MSI K9N2 Platinum
Card MSI 9800 GT video
OCZ 600w power supply
OCZ sli memory
AMD 7550 kuma
3 old disks IDE PATA
Keyboard PS2
USB mouse

Help, please!

Hello Parker_Jones,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum.

There is a possibility that this behavior might be caused by a program not allowing the computer to wake up properly. Take a look at the article below and see if you can troubleshoot using the information contained in the article.

A computer Windows Vista does not wake from sleep when a PassThru driver is installed

You can also use the mode without failure as a troubleshooting tool to determine the program that could be the cause of the issue. I've included the first part of the article below so that you will know how enter Mode without fail if you didn't know already. Please see the link to read the full article and complete troubleshooting.

Step 1: Perform a clean boot

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

b. click on start to reduce this includes this image

type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility.Collapse this includes this image

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

c. under the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

e. click OK, and then click restart.

No matter what I apply to the power management settings of the screen never goes and the PC never sleep or standby extended. Screen saver does not either - except once - yesterday, for the first time since I bought the PC in August. Has not yet done.

I assumed that this is a bug in Vista. "Tech Guy" PC World (ha ha) cannot repair. Is it at the level of the BIOS or something else? Of course, there is an incompatibility between the OS and the hardware. Video chipset? If you choose a balanced power management, the screen slightly off if you take out the power cord, but that's all that happens. Power management is all set to default.

It's exhausting, because whenever I want to leave the PC for a while, I have to put it to sleep manually.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello Peter

First of all are the guys responsible for tech updates? They must offer that you support for the hardware you have and clarify also all problems, if you use a preinstalled recovery media.

Upgrade is your decision, and it is possible that it may have some negative influence on the functionality of the OS. All this is quite complex. As you know Vista has own power management options. Toshiba install PVAT (ValueAddedPackage) and after doing this there are some additional settings.

The question is: How did you get the OS upgrade? Did you do a clean install? Have you installed all the stuff from the download page of Toshiba including VAP?

With other words: all the basic settings on energy consumption are defined in the BIOS. AFAIK in Vista is the management of clean energy implemented and Toshiba installed just a plugin. If these rudimentary BIOS settings are not changed, I guess everything works fine. Change the settings of the BIOS with an update, I can imagine that different settings will not work correctly.

Hmm, that's really not easy to say what you can do. Maybe check for the last update of the BIOS and after doing that it is trying to put the clean install of Vista Ultimate. And, of course, you must install all the stuff from Toshiba following the document of instructions for installations.

  • Exception code 80000003 crashes ie 7 and sidebar on a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64

    Hi all

I want to thank everyone in advance * beep * 1 built in (DVD burning directly downloaded from the microsoft technet web site).
Virus/Malware protection: no (because I've been connected to no more than 3 minutes, did not visit all other sites as microsoft.com or google.com on this pure install and am sure it's not either 99.99%).  I'm also behind my wireless linksys integrated in the firewall (model #: wrt54g), although my computer is directly connected by a LAN cable.
I partitioned the 640 GB HARD drive in a 200 GB C drive and 400 GB of storage using Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise server.

I did a complete reinstall of Vista Ultimate 64 bit (even once with Service Pack 1 built in).  I really don't want to do an upgrade, like #1) I already activated my new copy of Vista Ultimate 64 and also #2) I don't want any additional programs installed with the original operating system on the system (Windows Vista Home Premium).

I backed up my old Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate (pre and post authentication).

I have installed any other programs.

I tried to download the current drivers for my system to...

Just in case it is important, I changed the drive letters to the following

Drive D: (original Image) has changed to drive F ("F' actory_Image)

My question arrise when I open IE7 and try to goto several websites which (I'm fairly certain) makes a system call the IE 7 plant.  I'll post all the errors below.  This same exception also blocks the windows sidebar in a few moments of implementation of the operating system.

The following errors are created when in stall 'certain' drivers (from memory, I think that the HD Audio driver)

    Jayjay,

Thanks again for the quick response.  Finally, I discovered that I have installed a copy of the bad/debugging of my BONES from the site web technet.  While I'm still holding my breath, I have not seen any recurrence of the previous major problems (i.e. crash IE7 & sidebar).  I'll see how the drivers for my sound card, but it seems that windows sees as HD Audio device.  I can just "let sleeping dogs lie" and call it all off.  No matter, I'll make a backup of this 'success' more returned.

Thanks again for all your support.

Also, FYI, it's the 32 and 64-bit version of ie7 crashed.  I think it had something to do with the file "mshtml.dll.  Anyway, that's how I found the solution to...

    http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/ASPNET/32760139/IE7-crash-mshtmldll-Err.aspx

It is a 32-bit system, it also seems to describe a lot of problems that I came across.

With audio beeps, I ended up having the work to reverse the default windows (again, it is in the older operating system).

In addition, some other oddities that I would like to post (in case some unfortunate soul happens to have the same problem and stumbles on this page).

    (1) during startup (before the windows loading popped up bar), it would always be 'check' my hard drives connected, say something to the extent of the "Drive?: checked and OK" or something similar.

    (2) this particular build continued throwing exceptions to a player that I had ever installed software, wording of error below is very accurate (for the part that I copied).

Failed in the declaration of report file
    d:\rtm\enduser\officeconvertors\src\core\html\imain.c, line 352.
Cannot open the registry key for converer!

In any case, for those who want a solution, try to upload a better copy of Vista.   I personally just installed the Vista Ultimate Edition with Service Pack 2 Beta.

  • Satellite X 200-219: are there drivers for Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I am trying to upgrade the operating system on the X 200-219 this 32-bit edition of Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 - bit Edition.

The question is, are there drivers available for the satellite X 200 series that support Windows Vista 64-bit systems?

Also, if I can't upgrade, how can I use a maximum of 4 GB of RAM installed on my system if Windows Vista Home Premium can only see 3 GB max?

    > The question is, are there drivers available for the satellite X 200 series that support Windows Vista 64-bit systems?
Unfortunately, it does seem that the divers from 32-bit (no matter if it s Vista or XP) are available on the European driver Toshiba page.
It seems that the Vista 64 bit drivers are not supported at this time.

    > How can I use a maximum of 4 GB of RAM installed on my system if Windows Vista Home Premium can only see 3 GB max?
Well, usually the memory of 4 GB problem is the limitation of 32 bit OS System.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7601WE0007R01.htm

However, I read some reviews and it looks like this after installing Vista SP1, one can recognize all of 4 GB.

After reading a lot, I find that some people differentiate between the processor and system capacity, others are not.

Intel Core2 Duo T5500 Mobile is known as a Merom/64 Bit processor.

You can install anything you want, but the question is whether you will get all the correct drivers

  • Upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate

This is a question for someone at Toshiba:

I have a copy of the Windows Vista Ultimate DVD (given a conference I attended) and I would like to use it to upgrade my Satellite laptop to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. This morning I did a clean install using this DVD, but then when I installed the drivers Toshiba I found that the HD-DVD player will not settle.

I guess that because it did not recognize the laptop as a Toshiba laptop, is that correct?

So I used the Toshiba Recovery CD to return to a working laptop again once (and has spent all afternoon recovering all my backup files), but I always upgrade to Vista Ultimate. I could change just the product key of my system (from the control panel-> system) on a Vista Ultimate key, but I fear that the software Toshiba value added (HD-DVD player, etc.) will stop working.

Otherwise, I could do a DVD upgrade install but this will take ages and again, I'm afraid that the Toshiba value added software will stop working.

Someone at Toshiba can confirm the safe way to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.

    Thank you

    Darren

    Hi Darren

Just one thing at the beginning:
    > This is a question for someone at Toshiba
Sorry, but you have misunderstood something. This is the forum user and you will not receive response from Toshiba directly.

    Return to describes the problem:
I have very good experience with the Vista upgrade. I installed the clean version of Vista Ultimate on my laptop Satellite A200. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba supports the page.

On a Toshiba DVD drive I can't tell at the moment but the reading of similar positions, it must be just a update and because of this it cannot be installed on your laptop.

For me the best solution for you is to change the activation key and use Vista Ultimate. When activated you can update all Toshiba including PPV stuff. It has no influence on the version of the OS preinstalled.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE6) crashes on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

    Hello

I recently had a few frequent freezes on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition, I think it's maybe the video card (ATI HD2600 mobility). I have already downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Toshiba site, but it continues to, sometimes, when I'm playing games, the screen blinks for 5 seconds or more and then would become black, completely erased, but the background sound and everything still works well and I am able to shut down the PC by pressing the power button once and then restart it normally.

It's a minor problem, the major problem is the freezing point, it freezes completely without warning, but oddly enough, he freeze by practicing a game! But freezes on normal operations (internet, office, etc.). I did the tests, tests of HARD drive memory, all in good health, and worse, on the Windows Event Viewer could not detect any problem, simply says 'unexpected system shutdown.

    I'd appreciate help please.

    Thank you

Hi I do not know if this will help, but you've got service pack 1 installed on your laptop, as when I installed it on my desktop the first time it caused blue screen errors and gave me a lot of problems, including the error messages that seemed to come with applications, I opened and a boring IQRL driver equal or less than but could not work why and then ultimately , I had so many problems that I had to completely reformat my office and I removed my scanner XP and webcam (both had vista drivers) and when I reinstalled service pack 1, it was beautiful, if by any chance do you have anything attached to your XP laptop and vista drivers as these seemed to be what was causing my errors.

Also a question about your graphic card drivers, I have the same laptop as you and was looking for updates to the graphics driver and couldn't find them anywhere on the site, where did you find yours? I use Vista Home Premium 32 bit, my model number is A200-28 p (PSAE6) and I would like to know if there is a new graphics card driver but can not find on the basis of knowledge, so the fact you have updated your would be could you point a new user in the right direction :-)

  • Vista Home Premium VS. Vista Ultimate - what differences

I bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium O.S. and I experianced with GFgo7900GS graphics issue.

Now I have the opportunity to buy Vista Ultimate two times cheaper than in stores, so here's my question:
What will be the difference in performance of games when I'm going to change this system?

I heard that it is the only version of Vista, where can I play games without problems.

    Hello

Sorry, I have to disappoint you, but on your overall performance of the system, nothing will change. It will probably cause less performance, because Vista Ultimate is so
overloaded with graphic additional stuff (like animations, aero, blablabla.) and this guy who tells you that the games should run faster, no. CLUE bat, on operating systems or at least
    Windows Vista.

If you want to learn more about the different versions of Vista, then type the words "vista ultimate performance" in a big searchengine like google and try to find out and get a
unfamiliar with the system how Vista handles existing resources.

You will find that the only system to play games at the moment is Windows XP.
THE only ONE, because XP needs about 50% less system resources, there are more drivers and drivers for XP give you much more performance as vista drivers.

So, I hope that I could give you some good information on this topic of 'Vista '. It s a little more complicated than you think, so I wanted to give you a BRIEF description. :)

  • I can't get Age of Empires III to install on my Vista Ultimate 64 system!

I tried to install several times without success.  I don't even get an error message!  The installation box runs through the routine of preparation and then closes without any report either.

I did some research and found quite a long thread on this forum since 2009 by a person called Summerbreeze who seemed to have a similar problem.  After several posts back the thread died suddenly without any apparent resolution.  Apparently, it is possible to get this game to work on Vista because I keep seeing questions and reports on various hardware issues with Vista users.

I am running Vista Ultimate 64, SP2, on a workstation Intel S5000VXNSATA that has two processors dual core Xeon 5130 and 4 GB of RAM.  My video configuration is a dual monitor connected to a graphics NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI card that carries the 256 MB of RAM on board.  I have 2 hard drives of 160 GB configured in RAID 0, but I have only about 50 free BM for the moment.  I am currently compressing readers in an attempt to free up space.

Any of my equipment from the list of incompatibility and I certainly sufficient power to run this thing, then why the problems?
