Questions about the settings of the BIOS of Satellite M30X

Hello everyone!

I spent several hours today trying to find a way to make my Satellite M30X start automatically every morning so that I can use it as an alarm clock.
Generally the best way to do this is using the "wake on LAN" or a similar service that offers almost every PC and which can be activated in the BIOS menu.
However, it seems that there is no wake-up option in the menu of the BIOS of the M30X at all, I would say that users have almost no influence on the majority of the important parameters.
So if anyone knows how to turn any mode wake up my laptop, let me know!

Furthermore, I just updated the BIOS to 1.90 but nothing has changed on the menu itself.

Hello

I searched a bit, but there is no possibility to do so.
If there is no WOL option in the BIOS, you will not be able to put it in the BIOS.

But wait; Some LAN cards contains an option in LAN card properties.
You can access it by the Device Manager-> ECS-> Lan card (right click)-> properties

Here, you can see the unique tabs

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Question about the Bios Tecra 8100 2.5

    Hello
I installed the latest version of the Bios on my tecra 8100. My Question is, what is the maximum size of hard drive for these phones? Now I have 13 GB hard drive, but I want to have a bigger. And 512 MB of Ram is the maximum, right (2x256mb)? Can I adjust the size of the videoram?

In my view, the tecra 8100 is a laptop very well.

    Greetings,
    Stephan

    Hi Stephan

You are absolutely right. 512 MB of RAM is max for this pretty portable. If you want to buy more RAM I will suggest you that a PC100 256 MB (PA3051U-1NME). This RAM is tested and working properly with your device.

Sorry, but video RAM is not possible to extend. And now something on the HARD drive. Unfortunately there is no documents where you can find information like this, but I know very well that here should not be a problem with 30 or 40 GB of HARD drive.

I wish you lots of fun with this laptop old but nice.

  • Question about the BIOS on the 4000CDS Satellite?

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba 4000CDS a few weeks ago, when I start my laptop, I see:

    In touch with tomorrow

    Toshiba

2 seconds after I need to enter a password to continue from win98. I don't know how to remove this password, and how do I access the bios. I tried F1, F2, F10, Del, Esc.
    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Hi kaffka

I don't know Mr. what BIOS has the machine.
As far as I know there are 3 options to enter the BIOS.

    1. portable computers equipped with Toshiba BIOS: you must press the ESC key shortly after the turn.

2 laptops equipped with Phoenix BIOS: you must press the F2 key shortly after the turn.

3 books (Satellite 5xxx series) with the BIOS through Windows Update:
You can just press ESC after pressing the power, and then press the F1 key, this procedure sets the BIOS with the default settings!

    Best regards

  • Question about the BIOS on the Satellite 4340

    As amathor, just a question:

I have idea to boot from a USB drive (as bootable), but the problem in the BIOS is:
No USB - HDD or USB - FDD, USB Legacy or something like that.

On the net I found a support:
-to take a USB stick to start UPDATING the necessary BIOS!

    Or another way?

And to make the BIOS update it's complikation work?

    Thanks for your interest

    Hello

could you please show me the site where you found that information that you can boot from USB on a Satellite 4340 after the upgrade of the BIOS. In my view, this is IMPOSSIBLE since this machine is too old and the cams to USB boot first option with the Pentium M based machines, but before... NO LUCK.

If you like show me this site/forum/it either where it is written that you can use a USB device to boot from it and I'll try to help you verify that the information you gave is correct...

    :)

  • Questions about the BIOS update and battery charge on Satellite M30 104

    Hey,.
I try to update my BIOS, but it does not work because my battery won't charge any more, if a window always tells me that my battery is not enough. Yet, the reason why I'm updating my BIOS is that I read in a forum that might solve my problem of battery charging.
I'm fairly certain that the battery is not the problem itself: I bought a new battery, it worked for 10 minutes once or twice, then again the load stop completely.
If anyone knows what the problem is or how to update my BIOS, please...

    Hello Celia

I am not a technician, but as far as I know, BIOS has nothing to do with charging the battery. In my opinion, there are some problems with e-procurement (electronic load). Sorry, but I imagine that you must contact the partner in your country.

They have diagnostic tools and it can be verified. Please call and simply explain the situation.

    Good luck!

  • Re: Question about the BIOS update

    Hello

just tried to install the latest updates of BIOS (Vista laptop on my Equim) and am getting error messages saying: I have the wrong ROM? Tried to use bothe the 32 and 64 bit ones.
    Any suggestions...?

    Ta
    Nick

This is the error that I got when I tried to apply the update after reinstalling my Satellite Pro P200 last weekend. I remembered that I applied the update, a week earlier, thus interpreted the message in this sense that the ROMA had already been flashed with the new BIOS format.

  • Question about the partitions on satellite Pro L300-164

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 and it came with vista on the 1 74 GB partition and a data partition 73 GB but it has a folder called HARD drive recovery, but I want Vista to all of the 140 gb and have the recovery partition on a small partition of 4 GB for HARD drive recovery.

Is this possible without mucking up the HARD drive recovery?

No, is not possible, but that you can and should do is create recovery DVDs.
After doing this, you can remove this folder and organize partition how you want it to be.
Remember that you will lose the ability to install the operating system from the disk using F8 and repair my computer option.

If a problem occurs, you can install Vista using this recovery DVDs.
Please note: after installation of recovery, you will have the same structure divides again and all your saved data will be gone.

  • Question about the SafeMode on Satellite A100

How can I reboot my system to reboot safe mode. It seems to be a virus that prevents me from starting if I need to restore to an earlier date.

You can restart it in safe mode by pressing the "F8" key until the Windows Startup logo appears. After pressing F8, a menu will follow where you can choose the method of priming.

There, you can decide if you want to start in safe mode or to restore your system to a previous restore point.

  • Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features

I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.

    (1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?

    (2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?

    (3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?

    (4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?

    (5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?

    Hello

    I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
    2 - Yes.
    3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
    5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created.

In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Recently bought a laptop computer; A few questions about the offer Upgrade to Windows 8

I have a few questions about the Upgrade of Windows 8 offer for new computers.  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5268 of amazon.com, which came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Toshiba already has a beta version of drivers and utilities for Windows 8 for the S855 on their Web site.

    (1) I bought my laptop in July of this year, and I've not yet registered for 8 Windows Upgrade offer with Microsoft.  Am I still eligible to receive the upgrade, if I sign up soon?
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?
    (3) if I will be able to burn the installation media, I'll be able to erase my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 8 (which I'd rather do, I have a lot of backups of my data).  I am aware that I would probably need to provide my product key Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM during the new installation, because it is an upgrade and not a full version; This isn't a big deal, because my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM product key is stuck at the bottom of my laptop.
    (4) my current copy of Windows 7 is activated by seeing my BIOS (I have a traditional BIOS, not a UEFI).  If I had to switch to Windows 8 and decide then I'd rather back in Windows 7, for example, a few months later, I'll be able to do that (I burned recovery of Windows 7 with the Toshiba utility disks, which I did), and Windows 7 will continue to activate by seeing my BIOS, even after the installation (and later remove) Windows 8?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, the registration period is between June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013.
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

Yes, the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 will allow you to create a bootable DVD or you can grab the ESD file and save it.

Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · Under refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Start

Then follow the instructions that will be provided on-screen to cool your PC.

As long as you have a recovery disk which you should create or use the construction in the recovery partition, Yes, it will self activate.
    Thank you very much!
  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

    Hello

Here, a few questions about the number:

    (1) usually, you should get the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD. If you didn t receive this DVD then you can order it here https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you could install the disc of Microsoft Vista.

    (2) of course, you can do this. I think that Win XP drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

    (3) Yes, you can upgrade the RAM. For more information, see your manual or search on this forum for similar topics

    (4) maybe it s associated with the graphics driver. Check if you can update. I would recommend additional check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS
