Questions from Newbie to Smartphones blackBerry re: BIS (but not a newbie to BB)

I had BB phones since the 8320 came out.  Now have 9700.  I make use of BB intl e-mail when overseas.  (I think BB is in 90 countries - I have used it in at least 15).

1. I'm not really well informed about all this.  All I know is that BB treats my email is transferred from gmail, Yahoo, etc.  I send my email in gmail (single company)...

BB will continue this service for phones that work on OS 5, 6 and 7?  I think it has been discontinued on OS 10?

2 suitable service BES a businessman solo who needs to manage the e-mail?  It would seem that maybe that's only for mega-companies.   Are there companies out there that would bundle small users together in order to access the BES?  (Is it possible.?)

And finally, if small users will, in fact, to be cut utilities to BB - why should stay us (just 2 lines)?

Suddenly cut Google Google Voice of all BB users last month.  Google Maps still work on everything but OS10 - but Google could cut that as well (although I doubt it because I think it's a money maker for them.)

Except for the fact BB may be the last regulation. should w. a physical keyboard - only BB offer do not have Android or other systems of the OS?   Due to a slight hand tremor recently acquired - I need a physical keyboard.  I have trouble using a virtual keyboard.

Thank you.

Just a follow-up question, if you don't mind.    TMobile (US), and I think that ATT offers unlimited e-mail for international travel to 67 cents per day.  This feature/option seems to disappear, we continue to use a phone with BIS.

I have no idea... the companies control plans and the services that they have, and I found it quite impossible to make up the differences among the hundreds of carriers supporting the BB in the world. You ask them about it.

And thank you to confirm WHAT BES is suitable for large organizations.

Is not at all what I said, and I do believe that it is true. Internal full BES, Yes, is oriented to companies that can achieve economies of scale. But there are services of BES-level (e.g., hosted) available pretty much anyone.

Good luck!

  • Alarms would dismiss Smartphones blackBerry 9000 "BOLD" but not in Outlook

    Hello

Anyone know if you can dismiss the alarms on the 9000 "BOLD" but NOT to have them perform the alarms in Outlook?

    Thank you!!!

Yes - I have BES.  Interesting however.  One of my users can reject his reminders on the BB and it always reminds him in Outlook.  I wonder about that is a new user... So I guess I'll have to test it and see if it rejects the reminder... If it always happens in its Outlook.

Thank you much for the help!

    My BIS begin to work.

Perhaps, you intend to say "stopped" working?

If you have a BlackBerry data plan on your service provider account, on your BlackBerry smartphone, go to:

    1. options > advanced > host Routing Table > Menu > register.

2 send your service from your carrier's BIS site books:
    Of your handheld: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and sign. Then under help!, select Service books and select send service books.

    Your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
Carriers worldwide - find your operator from the list

    3. with the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart. This restart, even if you have already done this, is often necessary to install the service books.

  • Configuration of email from lack of Smartphones blackBerry for personal account

I'm having a very disappointing time with my new Blackberry 9700 I could really use help with it please.

Following the installation wizard, I arrived to the e-mail configuration. The ONLY option is to enter an address associated with an Enterprise Server. There is no option to choose my Gmail account.

After this step, I was hoping to find an alternative to get where I needed to be, but does not (at least none that I could find). Then I tried to upgrade my device software, which I did. So I am now under v5.0.0.405. Still no icon for the configuration of email in the settings window.

I even tried to install Google Sync, but there is no hanging at "first login".

I was really hoping it would be a lot easier than what I've heard great things about BB. I come from a Windows Mobile, so eager to get this resolved.

Any help is appreciated more. Thank you.

Try this page of Configuration of the Smartphone BlackBerry and select your provider of Blackberry BTW you did subscribe to the right cell provider's Blackberry plan?

  • Question of blackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry World. Does not recognize my phone so that I can't download apps!

Hello. I have a problem with BlackBerry World when I try to download an app for my BlackBerry Curve 9320. I click on the download button and then get a message to connect my phone I'll do next, but not more progress! What I am doing wrong? I have the BlackBerry Desktop on my laptop and allows as well for backup, but if I want to buy an app I have to go for BlackBerry World on my phone which is sometimes a bit annoying. Help!

Well, I already gave you everything I can think of to correct concerning the ability of your PC and the AppWorld to communicate properly with each other... the relocation of the Desktop Software/BBOS package to your PC should properly activate the PC and BB connect with each other. The Software Desktop communicate properly with your BB?

  • Question from newbie to PL/SQL.

    Hi all

Although having programmed and made with different db dba work, I've never done much PL/SQL

I use Oracle XE 10 on Linux with SQLDeveloper and SQL * more like my dev tools.

I have a package that compiles, but I can't seem to run. It is very short and simple. I'm probably just
missing something easy. The code compiles, but when I run it, I get no output from my
dbms_output.putline. What I would like, in the first instance is to see my production coming in SQLDeveloper.

Also, when I log into SQL * as the user I'm connected to SQLDeveloper as, and I'm trying to
exec call_business_hours (Sysdate - 1, Sysdate); I get an error 'identifier 'CALL_BUSINESS_HOURS' must be declared.
This intrigues me, I created the package and compiled successfully using this user.

Any help appreciated - I looked to texts and google and despite having already managed to
Download '3rd party' substance and running upward, it beat me.

Yes and no. Concatenation operator operands are strings, so any concatenation non-chaine operator will be implititly converted to a string. If the only difference between

    "Date in numbers | businessHours

    and

"Date in numbers | TO_CHAR (businessHours)

is implied against the explicit conversion.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry 9900 sending does not BBM Z10 and Q10

Most of my colleagues use Q10 BB or BB Z10 and I have BB bold 9900, but I can't send them BBM I can receive their BBM. Help, please!

    Hello

    Thanks for the confirmation!

Regarding your question, there is already a Knowledge Base article that is associated with this error:

KB34245 : A checkbox, and then a red x appears when a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or BlackBerry 6 to 7 sends a message to a smartphone BlackBerry 10 via BlackBerry Messenger 7.0.1.23

In my opinion # Workaround seems to be a little hard.  So I prefer you should first try to reinstall the BlackBerry Messenger application and see if it helps with your current problem.

To make your homescreen go to Options > device > application > locate and delete BlackBerry Messenger from this list.

KB10040 : How to view or delete the application installed on a blackberry smartphone

Deleted once perform a battery pull reboot by removing the battery while your device is turned on, wait a min. and then reinsert this return.

Finally, after the reboot, use your BlackBerry browser and go to www.blackberry.com/bbmdownload and download the most recent version available. After installation, restart your device once more, connecting with your BlackBerry ID and check if you are able to send BBM to one of these devices.

Please try it and let us know of your progress.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Messenger works do not!

My blackberry Messenger is not working...

I have the bold 9780. Today it stopped working... Ive talked to my provider and they say all right, my signal is fine... I can send and receive texts and people receive them but if I send a message from bb, so that it has a check mark next to it but not delivered... D still I will not receive messages from bb for 3/4 a bit and then come at once but mine don't always delivered.

My bb Messenger is up-to-date and therefore my system that I've updated all day

    Help, please

    Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you must go back and see your provider... they are 100% responsible for the delivery of all services and support for you and you are now paying them for a service they are not a. If they can't fix it, they have the ability to climb it in RIM... you have no free path to obtain support from RIM otherwise than by escalation of your provider. It is a pity they you already brushed off like this, you may have to insist a little with them. You pay their money... they need to offer a service to you.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Internet Service does not work because of alleged network problem

Service provider changed APN on cellular network of 'internet' to 'without limitation' and since then, BIS does not work and the host Routing Tables are empty. The AFN was changed no doubt, but still not BIS. Changing TCP/IP settings had also no effect. Service provider has now said that RIM should fix things, one server RIM and asked this, but it doesn't seem to be any progress and whenever I call customer service, I have to explain the whole story. Swopper SIM with another phone with works by BIS, so the phone itself is very good. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It is now almost a month and there is simply no progress to solve the problem. I was told that RIM would contact me directly, what has not happened. Should I cancel BIS on that number and activate it on another?

This seems unnecessary, but may be the only solution?

Hi all, the problem was solved today by a brilliant person who found the AFN is not correctly set up - after so! many technical support confirms that it was fine.  I guess it may have as some misspellings that are so obvious, you can just find them. After more than a month, I'm just relievd and grateful!

  • Question from Newbie blackBerry Smartphone memory card

I have recently entered the world of BB and am happy with my curve 8330 from Sprint. I am down encryption and have scoured all the online info, I can find as well as the manual. I'm barely scratching the surface of all uses and features, and while I am old guy when it comes to computers (50) and am not an expert, I'm not afraid of technology either and am eager to learn. I have a few simple questions (I hope) that I could use some help/advice for.

    (1) the BB came with a 1 GB card and I also bought a 2 GB card. If I want to change the 2 GB card, I have to do and what items/app will be affected by the swap? I'm not sure if the BB has an internal memory and the memory card, and what exactly is used to by the BB memory card. And what are the benefits to upgrade me to the 2 GB card;

    (2) If an email I rec'v has an attachment which is a video, I can't play (although no problems with photo attachments) is at - it an app I want to download on the BB for videos, and if so how can I do this and where to get the application? I've never downloaded an app on the BB before and am not sure exactly how do;

    (3) is at - he an advtage to connect to a Wifi hotspot from your mobile operator in some cases and my 8330 allows a wifi connection and how do I configure it if so.

Thanks for anyadvice and help that you can lend... I'm new to this but am fascinated by the possibilities.

    Joel

If media files are on your device memory, it just load Media Manager into the Desktop Manager and move on.

  • Question from Newbie Total of blackBerry Smartphones

I have just purchased my first Blackberry (a sim-free Curve 9300) and I'm trying to configure it to use on my Orange Bill.

Facilities only with the fact that I have a problem are email and MSN... When I try to connect to MSN, I am told that the 'Service not enabled for this pocket' and email seems to suggest that I need to activate a company account (whatever it is)

What should I do now to get these to work? My provider needs to change something on their end or what. Any help gratefully received.

Thank you. All resolved and everything works fine now.

  • Emails from Outlook to Smartphones blackBerry - BIS vs Desktop Redirector - which is best?

Okay, I need advice from someone who's been there-done-that.

I've read tons of posts on Outlook email sync and now I am totally confused.

I do not have a BES and I need to sync my email to work wireless (calendar would be nice too, but I won't get it gourmand) for my 8110.

What is the best option: BIS or Desktop Redirector?

    Can someone give me advice?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello!

Well, better judgment, IMHO - is so subjective to every persons wishes. But here are a few facts that may help you choose.

The two methods only provide you with email OTA - you need to use captive sync for the rest.

BIS - your business email must have a compatible Internet email interface (for example, OWA, POP, IMAP) and must not use an ISA device. If you can already get your email from the company from a PC that faces the gross internet (for example, without going through a VPN tunnel), then it is most likely that the BIS may work.

Desktop Redirector - this requires a PC to be left on all the time, connected to your corporate email (whether inside your corporate network or via VPN tunnel), so that it can get new emails and send them to your BB.

My preference goes BIS since it requires not just always on the PC (which can easily have a hiccup any who needs attention practice to rectify). But that's my preference.

    Hope that helps!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Hotmail w/BIS is not sync when using Windows Live Messenger

    Hello

I've got BES both BIS working in my BlackBerry. BES has the email that I use at work. BIS has configured my Hotmail account. Both work fine, but when I tried to use Windows Live Messenger in my BlackBerry I realized that the emails of Hotmail stopped coming.

So far, that's what I got:

If I connect to Windows Live Messenger from my BlackBerry, from a Windows computer, or within Hotmail (inside the web browser) I no longer receive mail. Everything I do from my BlackBerry still affects my Hotmail account (mark an e-mail as read, delete or sending an e-mail using my Hotmail account).

When I sign out of Windows Live Messenger and you receive another email, all delays and the new email come to my BlackBerry and guard mail very well until I connect to Windows Live Messenger again. I do not receive the emails delayed until I get a new once the connection from Windows Live Messenger.

Already tried battery pull, remove and re-add the account of Hotmail in BIS and uninstall and reinstallation of Windows Live Messenger.

Please, I know already all the love that some people have on other services of e-mail webmail (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), which helps not at all.

I searched the web and I have nothing, I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks in advance.
