Quick launch will never return?

Use to be - back on 10.6, you can customize the toolbar to search and set up application icons for a quick launch. Having moved to 10.10 by a couple of Mac along the way and bringing more via a time machine backup, I still have some of these buttons to request that me is outsourced. Some of the icons have been removed if an application has been updated and cannot be replaced by the new. This feature will never be restored? I think he went after 10.6. I of course do not miss.

What I do is use Keyboard maestro to assign apps to function keys. A little memorization required.

  • Firefox will never return history immediately after I said to use personalized story.

    Firefox will not keep my setting of "personal history". I said to use personalized story. I close the window options, and even if I do not do anything, when I open the window options yet, Firefox came back to "never remember history". I tried to delete cookie and preference files. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. I tried to delete the file profile.js or whatever it is called. I tried all the solutions I found online and nothing works.

    Thank you for your response. I understand that made the need for changes or he's back by default. I had brought a change. I does not solve the problem on my own with some tinkering, however. I changed something different, then it changed back and makes somehow the settings would you like.

  • Quick Launch Taskbar won't hold settings...

    To-do bar / Quick Launch will not hold settings at the next startup. This means that when I adjust the top margin of the taskbar and the right margin "pinches", when I restart, settings are default and lost to what is already in stuckrects2. I found some of the stuckrects2 parameters, but I need more. Or, I would like to know what registry locks setting - prevents writing the Explorer shell/back in the farm register... I know that the taskbar are kept in RAM memory, until I get out. This means that windows will not / cannot write back to stuckrects32. I would like to know which words/bits are involved in the establishment of the right margin and what are the codes to specify the position of the right margin. I have the settings for the top of the taskbar (high number of lines in the taskbar). A, as far as I know, NOTHING to with hide/no hide/auto hide/blocking etc. I know that there are many other registry keys that might be involved, but I still have to find the keys or parameters of dex/hex for key values. Does anyone have a list of the values for each of the 40 bytes (words) stuctrects2? Thank you

    This issue is RESOLVED.
    This setting can be found in HK_current_user\software\microsoft\\windows\currentversion\explorer\streams\desktop\taskbarwinxp.

    As a test, I had exported the test account taskbarwinxp in a directory of test account-keeping. When I rebooted my regular account, and after that I saved (exported) taskbarwinxp, I replaced the key test for regular and rebooted. When the Office was re-established, the test settings (which is what wanted) were correct. I re - put in the bar of tasks and rebooted. However, the adjusted parameters were ignored. That experience has not, except to point to something else.

    After continues a number of theories have to do with group policies and save/don't save the settings, I searched the internet for functions to shut down windows. This is because changes to the taskbar are saved in memory and written to the registry only when windows stops. I found an article on how to speed up the closing. I theorized that my windows could be closing too fast. So I tried to slow down.

    While following the instructions (below), which is really very fast. I made adjustments to record a second (1000ms) always fast but not instantaneous. and who does the work. The size of taskbarwinxp reduced value of 85 KB to 6 KB (when it is exported) and accepts all the changes. This large size is a clear sign that the value has been massively altered, but it was the stop settings that caused the problem.

    Here's what I did:
    I changed the values in the key and following subkeys and 1000 (dex)
    hk_c_u\control panel\desktop HungAppTimeout
    hk_c_u\control panel\desktop WaitToKillAppTimeout
    hk_l_m\system\CurrentControlSet\\Control WaitToKillServiceTimeout
    hk_users\default\control panel\desktop HungAppTimeout
    hk_users\default\control panel\desktop WaitToKillAppTimeout

    According to the article, the parameters may go up 5000ms.

    The article and aid came from the Kingdom of Mysticgeeks.

    Ugh! Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
    registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
    do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
    What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
    have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.
    The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
    delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

    Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
    use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
    problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
    the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
    cleaner and never had a problem with it.

    The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
    the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
    benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

  • My computer will load a program, but will not give me the icon quick launch and that if I never downloaded the program

    My computer will load a program, but will not give me the icon quick launch and that if I never downloaded the program. How can I fix it so the SLL laucher works.

    Sorry, it's a product of the gainful. I can't test it. Go to http://support.vocalocity.com/ for support.

  • Start up. I want to know how to customize programs that will run on my quick launch on the taskbar.

    Down below on the right by the time theres little thumbnails here that you can click to open up, like instant messaging, etc. I want to know how I can choose which ones to open it when I start my computer. I have to wait for all these things load when I start my computer.

    Quick Launch is on the left side of the taskbar:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/add-or-remove-programs-on-the-Quick-Launch-toolbar

    Read the above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    For program and icons start to start the Notification icons in the clock area, you will need to enter their programs and set them as to if you want that they start at startup or not.
    Here is an example with Messenger:
    http://www.Instructables.com/ID/how-to-stop-Windows-Live-Messenger-from-popping-up/
    «I was recently annoyed with my Windows Live Messenger popping up at the start, because I don't want to connect whenever I get on my laptop...» So, I found a way how toggle this action, and I thought I'd share with the Instructables community! "
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    You can also see what programs you have start at startup, using this program and make changes to the boot:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

    This utility, which has a knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs configured to run at system startup or login and that the entries in the order of processing windows. These programs include those in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell, toolbar extensions, helper objects to the browser, Winlogon notifications, auto and many start-up services even more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

    See you soon.

  • CVI 2013: macros return WARNING: will never be executed

    I did not a systematic study and therefore other macros may exhibit the same behavior:

    say, for example, gives the compiler warning it will never run

    the same is true for DefineThreadSafeVar

    To Assert, this warning is ironically caused by exactly the behavior that the macro has been designed for. The macro Assert uses a ternary operator to determine if it should trigger an error or continue execution. Of course, with a ternary operator, one of the operations will be executed while the other is not. If the compiler is able to determine that your condition to assert will always have the same result (for example 0 == 0), then you will get this warning.

    For DefineThreadSafeVar, this happens because DefineThreadSafeVar is really the same as calling DefineThreadSafeScalarVar with the parameter maxGetPointerNesting the value - 1. In this case, the new warning is precisely reflecting the fact that a conditional statement inside a macro called by DefineThreadSafeScalarVar checks whether maxGetPointerNesting is > = 0 (which it won't). There are actually two cautions that the code will not run: one for the line of code inside this condition and one for the second half of the conditional. This condition is within the macro CheckThreadSafeVarNestedLockCount which is used by many of the macros variable thread safe and is so widespread. You can take a look at all these macros in utility.h. This warning can be ignored, or you can get rid of it using DefineThreadSafeScalarVar with a really big maxGetPointerNesting parameter. I filed the bug 423739 report for that matter.

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x 64-put update from Vista Home Prem x 64 via HP upgrade

    Details: Ok... So, I'm about to pull my hair out on this one.  I did everything HP has told me to do (re - install HP QLB soft/drivers, update BIOS, update of IDT Audio) and even tried to remedies, I read on the internet (unscrew the battery with the power cable, etc.).  My button mute is stuck red.  Even system restore will be the only use it for a day at the most. Basically, great laptop but I cannot wait until this network button is stuck red.   Which is why I'm asking... anyone know how I can completely bypass QLB and great glory?  Also, I can use my shots audio but as I said, if the button Mute control speakers... what happens if this network never button stays red?

    Summary: I need help bypassing QLB completely or at least how I can solve this problem.  Thank you!

    Before your upgrade to W7, the quick launch buttons were functioning normally?

    What I read he sound like you've already tried this, but reinstall your sound driver IDT. Just humor me.

    If she says that one of them is already say 'Yes to replace all' reinstall after a restart of course.

    In addition, your net work button works, but you're worried that it will begin to do so, correct?

    The only problem is now so just with the mute button?

    If none of the works above, let's try a more radical solution.

  • When I try to add to quick launch Explorer stops working and restarts. It used to work fine.

    I drag or right-click and click "Add to quick launch" windows Explorer stopped working and restart. It used to work fine but no has not for a while since an update.

    It could be a problem of shell extensions. These shell extensions are responsible for creating the options you will see in the menu when you right click on a file using Windows Explorer.

    Troubleshooting Windows Explorer errors
    http://www.HelpWithWindows.com/techfiles/Explorer-crashes.html

    The ShellExView is a stand-alone executable. It does not require any installation or additional dll process. Simply copy it to any folder you want, then run. Once you run it, wait a few seconds until ShellExView charge all shell extensions.

    The rule is to turn off non-Microsoft extensions. Click on the "Type" column, you will now see the context menus in the group. Now, try to disable all non - Microsoft Shortcut Menus (with light pink background) and see if the problem goes away. If it has been re - activate the context Menu one by one by checking every time if the problem returns until you got the culprit.

  • lost the "switch between windows" button on the Quick Launch toolbar

    Hi, I lost the "switch between windows" button of the toolbar quick launch, how can I restore it?

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Dasepo salvation,

    Here are the instructions for the program shortcut "switch between windows" returned the fell on the Quick Launch toolbar:

    First of all, make sure you that you must show hidden files and folders active. Here's how:

    Go to: Start/Control Panel folder Options/configuration and select the 'view' tab select "Show hidden folders and files under the section files and folders hidden from advanced settings".

    Then you can get the file from quicklaunch default section. This location of file is here:

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    You can paste this link into the search bar (Ctrl-Esc). When you get to this place, you will find the 'switch between client.lnk' which you can then drag directly to the Windows Orb and it going bust in the Quick Launch bar.

    Hope this helps,

  • HP Quick Launch buttons for Windows 7 to work a bit now, they have stopped working

    So I installed windows 7 x 64 on my HP Pavilion DV9700t. I had no problem using the Upgrade Advisor. My current rating is 4.9
    Everything is much more vivid and works fine, except the HP Quick Launch buttons.
    Initially, they worked so I could control the volume buttons, mute and media. So I don't remember exactly what I did and I installed an update or a specific package of the software HP Quick Launch buttons and they stopped working.

    I do not use the system restore and I mixed through several HP software packages including: SP40139, SP44777, SP39425. These seem to install fine and starts the process of quick launch control. However, the buttons do not always work. I even started the HP Quick launch in Windows Vista compatibility mode buttons.

    So I was wondering how I can return to pilot initial KB that happened when I installed Windows 7. Which seemed to have done the trick, but I don't know what it was.

    HP is too lazy to support my laptop brand, even if it is more than enough to run Windows 7.

    Thank you!

    Hi Covrigus Deus,

    I will suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the HP Quick Launch button software and reinstall it back. You can check the latest HP Web site package.
    For help with respect to uninstall and reinstall, you can visit the HP website for the instructions.
    If, however, the Quick Launch button still doesn't work after you have performed the steps in the abvoe, I will propose you to complete the restore of the system.

    To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. System restore click Start, type in the search box and then click on the system restore listed programs.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    1. In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    2. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    3. Click Finish.

      The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

      For more information, see:

  • Respond to create/customize a toolbar in Windows 7 (replaces the quick launch for Windows XP)

    After several hours, with many MS research and research on google to try to get the famous and beautiful Quick Launch Toolbar that no longer exists in Windows 7, I thought it after 3 hours.  Here's how:

    Create a toolbar

    -----------------------

    1. create a folder on your system

    2. right click on the taskbar, select toolbar, select the new toolbar

    3. new toolbar - select displays a file dialog box

    4. Select the folder created in step 1-based

    Customize the toolbar

    -------------------------------

    1. right click on the taskbar

    2. click on bar tasks unlock

    3. right click on the new toolbar

    4. menu popup appears

    5. click on title of show (allows the user to hide the name of the toolbar, which is of the Deb Toolbar)

    6. right click again on new toolbar

    7. click on the text (allows to hide the name of the icon, IE.) Microsoft Office Word 2007)

    8. right-click again on new toolbar

    9. click on view (allows the user to change the size of the icons on the toolbar)

    10 lock the toolbar

    When I spent many hours and kept getting the Quick Launch bar does not exist in this version, it is true; HOWEVER, you can get everything too close with a custom toolbar.  No answer came close to telling how to customize a toolbar, but only how to create a toolbar.  Originally, I had posted a question, but then found an answer and thought that after having no chance he is on this site that I post the answer.

    So I hope this helps anyone who has upgraded to Windows 7 missing and are looking for this bar Quick Launch bar.  This is the closest you're going to get.

    No more frustrated.  NOTE TO MICROSOFT: The search engine provided by MS, you stick with your terminology.  I can't tell you how many times I reformulated my search with your terminolog and kept getting "taskbar" vs "toolbar."  The most I could get it is how to create a toolbar, and that's all.  Then you wonder why users get frustrated and I want to just throw it out the window (no pun intended - perhaps although YES).

    Deb

    Instead, you may want to consider to drag the task
    bar on the left side of the screen. This will put the Show Desktop
    icon in the lower left corner of the screen.

    In fact, with screen monitors wide today, I'd rather have the task
    bar on the left side of the screen. I think it makes better use of
    screen real estate that having it at the bottom.

  • Why you guys would mess with the Quick Launch bar? I'm sorry, I've just updated! :(

    I've just updated to 31.7, unfortunately.

    I've always had a you Bird icon on the far left of my Quick Launch bar. Now it creates a whole new icon and it puts far to the right.

    I kept clicking on my icon on the far left because I thought that it was not run. See attachment.

    Whose brilliant idea was this? Was the point of this change? A change was still necessary? NOOOOOOO!

    It's the ONLY window app that does this. You try to start a trend?

    Sheesh

    Is it possible to cancel this last installation?

    If that's true I would still be using BACK 1.0 and path of iron-programming BACK-Basic and assembler.
    But really more updates of the victory program tends to put a lot of importance to their program and their shortcuts at the top of the list on office etc.
    Using method of installation and cleaning each time makes it less vulnerable, if expenses install, new icons, new program files, new values init or a simple update.
    Not having DO NOT analyze and provide measures for each possible-quirk user will download/put far more quickly.
