Quick question for blackBerry Smartphones

the GOAL didn't count e-mail as a text message? I have a plan of 200 messages and I know for a fact that I didn't send or receive messages and 150 more last month, but I used the GOAL much and I went through about 250 on my Bill. I have AT & T.

Tin - welcme on the forums!

Depends on how it comes across to your phone.  If you connect in the purpose - or similar - where to use as AIM... then it uses your data plan.

If you have your GOAL set up as mobile on your PC computer, they appear as text messages and use the 200 text package you have.

I hope that makes sense.

    Hi, (question could be repeated)
Before you buy BlackBerry, I knew that its market is not as varied as android, but to my great disappointment I couldn't find apps 'base' which should have a smartphone. I need a free application map or navigation and to my great disappointment that BlackBerry maps does not work in India, in addition to that google don't provide maps for BlackBerry.
Please tell me is there any map application can attest to BlackBerry? Would be happy to install in my machine.
    Thank you

No, as I said, they are available in Android apps which you call is able to run for the right amount of.
You will need to get them on an Android App store, there is a good app called Snap specially written to help with this...

  • Error Bluetooth for blackBerry Smartphones

Any help or suggestion is really appreciated...

  • Storage of applications for blackBerry Smartphones

Hey everyone... I use my 9790 bold, he repeats to me my memory to applications is 512 MB internal memory of the phone's 8 GB! So is there anyway to increase this limited storage for applications? In addition, this space does not increase if I use an external MicroSD memory?

    Hello...

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD Card Memory.

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and fixed (size: 512 MB in your case) space that is available to the House of the OS itself, as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

Memory card SD/Media- is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:

    • KB05461 Sizes of card MicroSD taken in charge by the BlackBerry device software

On some devices/OS levels, you can see 'Free file' (Options > status), I think this is equivalent to AppMemory. You can see on other devices, all the memory usage levels three (Options > memory). Here are some tips to use:

    • KB02843 What is the function of low memory manager on the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB14320 How to maximize space and power battery life on the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB14213 Call logs, SMS text and email messages are deleted from the BlackBerry smartphone

Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. On the contrary, to close an application, tap on and select 'Close' or 'Quit'... which force the application to be closed, freeing resources for your new use it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

In addition, each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy. Some have taken to do this on a regular basis as a preventive measure... some as often as once a day. Others got the app QuickPull to automate a simulated Batt Pull.

    Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the community!

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

    But it is not practical.

    Can someone help, please?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi kagamine

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums

Yes, it is possible to install the Japanese language on your curve 9220, all you had to do is download a pack of BONES all the language and then install it on your PC, then he had to use BlackBerry Desktop Software to add the Japanese language. You can try this way:

    1. download and install on your PC of any OS pack with any language or multi-language pack by carriers

    • (Make sure you download for the same phone model)

    2. download and install the latest version of BlackBerry desktop from here BlackBerry desktop software software

    3. search your drive C: Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml (on the change of your Pc as your records option to show the hidden files/folders):

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research in Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Once done open BlackBerry Desktop Software (7.1) > select Applications. > in the section of language and support for entry , select the language to be added to the BlackBerry smartphone (a + will appear next to the language to install) > click apply.

  • Email regular POP3 for blackBerry Smartphones will not be implemented

Hi guys, my small business has recently moved to a new dedicated server and after works well at first, now I am unable to set up one of our mailboxes on any BlackBerry (torch tried, "BOLD", curved) device on any carrier (Rogers, Bell Canada and T-Mobile, AT & T in the United States). I have try the basic settings (email address and password), then when this fails, advanced settings (which are necessary as my email user name is non-standard; it is always username + example.com when the address is [email protected] and the mail server is mail.example.com). After a long "treatment...". "I am told"address incorrect email and password. ... If the error persists, contact "my server" the thing is, all of these mailboxes works fine in any other client e-mail with the same settings (Outlook, Thunderbird, iPad, etc.) and as I said, worked fine a few times on BlackBerry before now doesn't work at all. In a sense, I am the administrator of my server, even if I was on with the support of my hosting provider and they are confused as well. This problem does not occur on any of their other similar hosted servers, only mine. My question for everyone here is if there is some process, some address, something to the RIM that should be allowed to communicate with my mail server tha could potentially be blocked in some way, and if anyone has any ideas on how I could know if what is happening. My default mail server is Dovecot (including the BlackBerry "Fastmail' service, which worked fabulously before this started), but I tried Courier so unsuccessfully for the mail server itself does not seem to be the problem. I am happy to provide additional information or even a test account, if anyone has a suggestion!

    Problem solved.

If someone needs to know, http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB11036 describes the IP addresses that must be unlocked in order for the BIS interact with a mail server.

However, DO NOT included on this list has been 74.82.80.0/24, another server RIM, I discovered this morning had been blocked by my server. This list has been updated end of 2011, so I guess they changed things since then. Anyway, once I unlocked which will, everything works now.

Does anyone know how I can contact RIM and suggest they update their list so other people do not go through this?

  • Keyboard for blackBerry Smartphones won't work - HELP PLEASE!

My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad won't work, so I can't make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it won't "click" to unlock. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I have the Blackberry (it is not purchased via a service provider), I tried to contact customer service for Blackberry UK, who seems reluctant to deal with consumers. My service, O2 have been much more useful. How can I get a warranty repair/replacement, or solve the problem?

Well, after a WEEK, I'm totally furstrated with Blackberry. They have NO customer service in the United Kingdom, and as I have the BB (not through my mobile service provider, with whom I have a single contract SIM) I could get repair/replacement of parts. the only way I knew solving it had to spend many hours in an O2 store in the United Kingdom (my service provider) who finally had sympathy with me and agreed to sent for repair/replecement. I had one today renovated. It seems that this keyboard problem is common - the guy in the O2 shop showed me a way to fix it temporarily, hold down the ALT and right SHIFT buttons and press the DELETE key twice. This gives the BB a battery quick re-difficulty.

But I (and all of my colleagues (will now go to the iPhones, which are more reliable and they give better customer service.)) SHAME on Blackberry for their shoddy products and the non-existenet customer service.

  • Applications for blackBerry Smartphones does not

I've been upgraded to version 6 on my 9300 curve but when I downloaded a few applications, they do not work.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

A little sparse on the details... "they don't work" could mean that they launch, they communicate, or a myriad of other possible symptoms. Accurate description of what you're trying and that happens helps us not to guess.

But, since you have left to guess, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) remove and return Service directories

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot.

I hope that will move things again for you! Good luck and let us know!

It's quite possible. Check the below knowledge base article.

But before you start using it as a modem attached, you must know how operator will charge you for the use of the data. There are carriers that do not allow or you may need to have separate internet data plan.
