  • Question from Newbie blackBerry Smartphone memory card

I have recently entered the world of BB and am happy with my curve 8330 from Sprint. I am down encryption and have scoured all the online info, I can find as well as the manual. I'm barely scratching the surface of all uses and features, and while I am old guy when it comes to computers (50) and am not an expert, I'm not afraid of technology either and am eager to learn. I have a few simple questions (I hope) that I could use some help/advice for.

    (1) the BB came with a 1 GB card and I also bought a 2 GB card. If I want to change the 2 GB card, I have to do and what items/app will be affected by the swap? I'm not sure if the BB has an internal memory and the memory card, and what exactly is used to by the BB memory card. And what are the benefits to upgrade me to the 2 GB card;

    (2) If an email I rec'v has an attachment which is a video, I can't play (although no problems with photo attachments) is at - it an app I want to download on the BB for videos, and if so how can I do this and where to get the application? I've never downloaded an app on the BB before and am not sure exactly how do;

    (3) is at - he an advtage to connect to a Wifi hotspot from your mobile operator in some cases and my 8330 allows a wifi connection and how do I configure it if so.

Thanks for anyadvice and help that you can lend... I'm new to this but am fascinated by the possibilities.

If media files are on your device memory, it just load Media Manager into the Desktop Manager and move on.

  • BlackBerry Smartphone memory card issue

I have the 8520 and 8530 is not sure which but I bought a microSDHC memory card is compatible? I'm not sure of the part HC!

    Hello

HC simply refers to "Large capacity", a designation that is placed after that I think that 2GB. But, no question... of compatibility between a memory card and a BB is governed by the size of the media card and the level of operating system running on the BB... see this KB:

    • KB05461 Sizes of card MicroSD taken in charge by the BlackBerry device software

  • BlackBerry smartphone Memory Card need help!

I just bought a memory card for my 8310 someone can tell me how to transfer the pictures stored in the memory of the device to the memory card?

    Hello!

    Try this write up:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/Rim/Board/message?board.ID=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.ID=3...

Which will allow you to use your BB as a pair of USB drives, and you can then just move the files as you would any other file via windows Explorer.

    Hope that helps!

  • Quick question for blackBerry Smartphones

the GOAL didn't count e-mail as a text message? I have a plan of 200 messages and I know for a fact that I didn't send or receive messages and 150 more last month, but I used the GOAL much and I went through about 250 on my Bill. I have AT & T.

    -tino

Tin - welcme on the forums!

Depends on how it comes across to your phone.  If you connect in the purpose - or similar - where to use as AIM... then it uses your data plan.

If you have your GOAL set up as mobile on your PC computer, they appear as text messages and use the 200 text package you have.

    I hope that makes sense.

    -Thanks in advance.

When you go into the Date/time options, can you click on the menu button and choose update time? This should change both of the network.

  • BlackBerry 8310 Smartphone memory card?

2 months ago, I bought a card SanDisk 4 Gb HC to my local ATT store (my provider is ATT). The map recently failed and the said shop SanDisk does not recommend using their HC cards in Blackberry phones, and therefore they (after an initial runaround) provided a refund.

Not knowing what 4 GB card to buy, I went to the local electronic store bought a 2 GB card cheap on sale.

I would like to have more space. Y at - it a specific 4 GB card that someone could recommend? Alternatively, a 8 GB card when I update to 4.5 (not yet available)?

Thank you. I ordered a SanDisk 8 GB card from an online retailer, whose name appears on the map as being compatible with a BB 8310. The cost of 2 GB and 8 GB is less than the credit I received the Bank of ATT.

    Thank you!

Without doubt, I should mention that some of my problems with my BB was a sufficient case, which allowed my phone to fall to about 50 times. Today I bought a new case and ATT has replaced the phone because the trackball was bad. So, if all goes well, the new phone and the memory card will work.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Simm card

How does the storage card function?  Is the phone automatically knows what type of data goes on the card or is it definable or selectable by the user?

SIM card and memory card - are different things.

    So, on your memory card.

When you format your micro-sd on your Blackberry memory card - you can store photos/music/videos/ringones/documents on this issue no matter what.

If I understand your first question of law - the blackberry automatically recognizes the type of data that you can save on the memory card. You shouldn't worry about this.

When you save a music/video/photo file - it will be available as a file of music/video/photo for you.

    Hello

To add - gave you wording ("pretty"), I don't think so- or maybe Yes. To better explain, consider this:

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD memory card

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available for you (probably 1 GB space you mention).

Memory card SD/Media - is what it says... your 4 GB SD card, to store files, media, photos, etc. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:

So, if your question is to use the device or memory card support, there should be no difference in performance and other. For me, I always store my data on the media card (when allowed... some apps don't) and also let the device memory clear and empty I can.

On some devices/OS levels, you can see 'Free file' (Options > status), I think this is equivalent to AppMemory. You can see on other devices, all the memory usage levels three (Options > memory). Here are some tips to use:

Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. On the contrary, to close an application, tap on and select 'Close' or 'Quit'... which force the application to be closed, freeing resources for your new use it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

In addition, each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy. Some have taken to do this on a regular basis as a preventive measure... some as often as once a day. Others got the app QuickPull to automate a simulated Batt Pull.

    Best!

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Media Card: What would my settings?

I'm afraid I might have changed the setting 'factory' by accident.  Can someone tell me what they should be?

Under the Support of the map, it has options such as the cipher Mode, mass storage Mode support... How should it be defined? Thank you.

I recommend that you set the mass storage Support Yes

It will allow you to access your blackberry when connected via USB as a usb flash drive.

If you set the encryption mode WE will encrypt all the files on your memory card.

If you don't store confidential data on micro-sd card - disable encryption.

  • Questions of blackBerry Smartphones with upgrade to 4.5 on Pearl 8100

I recently updated my software to 4.5.0.102. I experienced a few problems & not with little or no technical experience, know not how to solve them. First of all, my bluetooth does not work when I listen to music more. It is fine when I make calls, but it's as if he doesn't recognize it when I turn on my music (I use tamusik through Rogers to download my music). Secondly, in applications multimedia, it reboots if I try to scroll through the photos I have saved in my memory card. It happens at some point & just turned off and then restarts (unfortunately, it takes time to reset). And third, if I take the battery to reset, will reset several times until it loads the software correctly. There is a white screen with the hour glass for a time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

at the time of reset: it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.
You have a memory card? If you do, try and remove it. Starts up faster?

Anyway, start along can be due to the corrupted image (during the boot sequence, there is a small part of the indexing of media files which can be huge problems).

Do you use a Media Manager on your desktop PC? (it's just a question, do not install it again)

1, if I have the wifi connected to it, it will use that instead of my phone connection? That is to say it will be straight overide to wifi?

2, I have an inside memory card, I can access my music very well, but I can not accsess the photos on the memory card, y at - it a setting of something I need to look at:?

    Chris

Hey, Chris.  I, too, am a cool guy, so I'll help you with your question.  I'm not sure about the second part, then you are on your own with that one.

If you have your Wi - Fi enabled and that you are connected to a Wi - Fi hotspot, including a router in your home, it's the connection that your phone will support.  You can still see the small arrows at the top right of your screen indicating the transfer data, but surfing you do is done exclusively on Wi - Fi.

That is, a question down, only to go now.
