R200-110 - boot from external CD player

How can I start r200-110 external cd-rom?

Hello

Yes you can but as far as I know the unit supports recovery through the BIOS (by pressing 'C') with (16-bit and Cardbus) PCMCIA cards. In my opinion, you need a special drive of Toshiba. In addition, check some topics in this forum.

My internal DVD player on my Toshiba Satellite Pro P100 failed, and my windows is broken.
So I bought an external DVD drive to boot from, so I can recover the system using the product recovery DVD.

Now, he actually goes ahead and starts from the DVD. But once in the setup it gives me the message: "ERROR: file Setenv.ini D:\Setenv.ini or X:\Tools\Setenv.ini not found!

So I went ahead and checked if the file was... it was... but it is on Drive E:\ (probably because it's a USB device I'm starting from)

-J' did some research and found that I needed to run the command: X:\tools\recogui /FE: say the recovery my files were actually on drive E:-which has helped a little... until I got a new error where it was always looking for the *. TPA file on drive D: eventhough I have via recogui had specified otherwise.

Now what do I do to understand everything is to the recoveryprocedure on drive E: and not D:, as he seems to think?

As I am in the middle of a period of review, quick response would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Boot from external DVD USB drive is NOT possible!

You can start only from the inside, ODD, HARD, LAN disk and external USB FDD (floppy)

  • Re: Boot from external USB HARD drive Toshiba 320 GB (MK3259GSX)

I have PC (Windows7, SATA HDD, without CD/DVD drive), netbook and Toshiba External USB HDD 320 GB (MK3259GSX). Can I boot from the USB HDD? (to install OS or diagnostic tools like Memtest, MHDD etc..)

    I tried:
1 format USB HDD, create the FAT32 partition and make active, copy the files, for example, ISO image of Windows 7 (I also tried bootsect/nt60), but when I reboot and choose from the menu of boot USB HDD it stops after "Verifying DMI pool data".
2 Grub4dos (http://grub4dos.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page), but also had nothing after verifying DMI pool Data given.
    3. If you want to install Windows 7, I tried this tool, http://store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool, but it did not find my USB HDD.

    Sorry for my English.

Has your computer laptop USB boot option?

Anyway, is unclear to me that you can use this disk external DRIVE for the installation of the OS?

  • HP Envy 15 j151sa: HP Envy 15 does boot from external dvd rom

    Hi all

My HP Envy is new (Envy 15 j151sa). The external DVD drive is new (HP dvd600). My envy model does not have an internal CD/DVD drive

I want to boot from a live DVD.

I have read the other messages and answers for similar queries and followed the suggestion.

At startup, press F10 (BIOS Setup) and Boot Options parameters are the following...

    (a) secure boot - off

    (b) legacy - allowed boot.

    (c) changed the boot order inherited from have the rom USB dvd as the first in the list.

    Save the configuration.

    Restart the PC.

    At startup, press F9

Lists the available devices (3) to boot from as

    OS boot manager

    Boot from EFI file

    Portable hard drive

There is No option to select the external CD drive to DVD.

I updated the BIOS to the HP latest version recommended.

I don't know what else to try.

I could really use some help now.

    Thank you

Your external DVD drive is operatying as it should.

The best place to find an answer on how to make the live CD is the Debian forum. Disk made you apparentlydoes is not not a MBR boot sector or a recognized EFI partition. Either of the people is what is necessary for the drive to be bootable and your notebook BIOS must be configured in accordance with the choice of the type of format.

Personally I've always preferred to use a utility likeUNetbootln to make several versions of Linux "live" bootable.

I don't bother with the hassle of the DVD or CD media more.

If you have a spare drive 32 or 64 GB USB flash drive, so you can put an incredible number of versions of Linux and troubleshooting utilities on it.

The economy of scale with usb flashdrive has gotten to the point where a 16 GB usb key is less expensive than recordable DVD media. Check outthe Newegg price.

  • PC tries to boot from external USB instead of the internal hard drive at startup

Hi, I just took delivery of a refurbished Pavilion p6793. I noticed that the system does not boot if I have my external USB drive connected. It happens with one cannot find the message of charger and asks me to hit ctrl-alt-del to restart. I suspect it's because it's the search for the o/s on USB instead of the internal hard drive. Can you tell me what I need to check and change to allow me to boot from the hard drive even if the drive is connected. Thank you.

    Hello:

You should probably go into your BIOS by pressing F10 at HP welcome screen and changing the options in the start for the HDD menu start the first.

Then you can set the boot for other devices as you order please.

Make sure that you save your settings, where you made the change, and again when you go out.

When you specifically want to start on a device, press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen and you will be presented with a single boot options menu where you can choose from any one of the bootable devices listed.

My external hard drive is connected to my USB hub member.  I need to start from the outside (and backup on it works fine).  When I hold down the option key to restart, externally does not appear as a startup disk.

  • How to boot from external DVD using Iconia W700P?

I'm tired of having to restore my entire system (and lose all my files, programs, applications, etc.) whenever something is blocking the Iconia W700P (and quite often). I have an external DVD, backups of the entire system using Acronis True Image 2015 an Acronis boot disc (made on a Win 7 machine), but can not get the system to boot to the DVD device. I tried to reset the boot sequence, but it keeps starting in my original system of Windows 8 (I had to restore everything again once). I even tried to change to a legacy starting, but the system could not find a bootable device.

Without a way to restore my system, this expensive machine is completely worthless!

    Help, please!

Turning off secure boot seems to have done the trick. The DVD is loading now.

    Thank you!

    > Thanks, but how do I boot from a cd rom usb drive? I don't have any usb floppy drive
You need to first boot the bootable disc using a bootable diskette floppy drive!
Then a driver would be loaded that allows you to boot from the CD/DVD drive

  • T430s: boot from an external USB DVD drive

I wanted to change the boot sequence to boot from external DVD drive to install Win8. To access the BIOS I hit Enter (empty password I guess) but in the BIOS everything is grey: I can't make changes. What is going on?

    @kaja69...

Rich said, you have a set supervisor password and Jin Li said, there is no default password.

For more information on the different passwords at the BIOS level, please consult your T430s Hardware Maintenance Manual (manuals pages 36-38).

  • Portege 3480: is it impossible to boot from a key-USB-cd?

I would like to install win 2000 on my portege 3480. However, I have a lot of difficulty getting to boot from external cd readers. I tried with a Cd Player and a LiteOn DVD drive iomega. None of them works. The two drives are connected via the USB port. I read somewhere that we can start using pcmcia on the 3480 cd players - can that really be true?

Hope someone can help out me.

    Thank you

    Steffen - Denmark

    Yes, it's true
Generally it is not possible to boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive.
You need a compatible PCMCIA reader and supported.

  • Satellite Pro L850 - 1 L 4 - cannot boot from Win 8 Upgrade disc

Bought there is a little less than 2 years. With the upgrade of Windows 8.0 DVD.
Let me now turn to Win 8 (then Win 8.1).

No matter what I try (the BIOS changes) peut t get the DVD of start-up. Under the boot of CSM (default for the laptop), it returns an error of independent disk of the system.

I tried the DVD to other readers of PC which also results in the same error message.
Other discs for example repair Windows & Tosh recovery disks start OK.

So I think that the disc must be faulty.

My question is if someone else has had this problem or even successfully upgraded using the provided Toshiba DVD?. Get your hands on Toshiba get replacement DVD seems an impossible task especially 2 years later.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

First of all, please go to BIOS and set it to settings (default load) by default.

Then, you can disable secure startup to boot from external media such as disk or USB key flash memory.

Here is a very interesting thread which brings a solution to the problem of similar startup using the image to win 8.
