Tecra 8000: update of the Bios allows booting from USB?

Hello

I have Toshiba Tecra 8000 (simple 266 MHZ)
Will be this bios bios-t8000-930 - trad.zip (08/26/02) allow you to boot from USB?

Hello

As far as I know, you need a supported drive to boot from external USB drive.
The update of the Bios won't boot options.
If you want you can ask for the readers supported ASP.
I found this site one:
http://www.CCD.co.UK/Xpress/catalogue/product.asp?PN=JD0000283

It s a Toshiba CD - RW / DVD-ROM combo wit reader PC Card interface.

  • Portege A100 PPA10A - update the BIOS to boot from a USB device

    Hello

I have an old Portege A100, model: PPA10A-0002LP, but I can't seem to find this model on any Web site of Toshiba, closest I've seen is the "PPA10A - 0002 L'.

I am wanting to know if there is a BIOS update that will allow me to boot from a USB device.

The question I have is that I need to reinstall Windows, but the CD ROm cannot read disks.
This network PXE boot, but I'm new to this sort of thing and have absolutely no idea what to do here.

    Any help would be great,

    Hello

Portege A100 seems to be developed solely for the Australian market.
As you say it is a model number Portege A100 PPA10A - 0002L listed on the Australian page of Toshiba Portege A100 PPA10A-0002LP belongs to the same series which is PPA10A
So in my opinion, the BIOS should work too.

Anyway, I doubt that the BIOS update will add boot options.

Usually the BIOS supports booting from CD/DVD drive, drive HARD, LAN and USB FDD.
It should be possible to boot from a boot disk using a USB FDD drive.
I doubt you'd be able to boot from USB WEIRD since this Portege A100 supports an internal CD/DVD drive.

  • Laptop Presario CQ62: SETTING THE BIOS TO BOOT FROM a USB STICK

I need to set the BIOS to boot from a usb key. The options in the BIOS are

    And in the boot order:
USB disk on key/USB hard drive
    USB CD/DVD ROM drive

    Portable hard drive

    USB floppy drive
    Internal CD/DVD drive

! Network adapter (but it says that the ability to start will be disabled if the device is marked with an exclamation point, which, in my case, it is)

A question who should I set to boot from a usb flash drive which has the operating system that you want to install Windows?

I tried boot F9 options, but it gives me two options:

  • I restart the computer and changed the BIOs to boot from the CD. So as usual, I'm prompted to press any key to start from the CD or DVD.

Hello Comunity Microsoft :D My name is Mike and I built a gaming pc. Everything was going well for the first 3 days, but now I have a few crashes very violent. Speakers in loop and buzz and screen lock. I have to completely shut down to go back to a working state. I did everything I could possibly think of to solve this problem, but I can't.

    Then. on the problem. Today, I decided that I was able to solve all the problems by reinstalling windows. I had my keys together and put the disc in. I restart the computer and changed the BIOs to boot from the CD. So as usual, I'm prompted to press any key to start from the CD or DVD. I do and I get normal loading windows files, and at the end of this road, I get the Welcome screen in windows7 with no option and a fat slider. I don't have the little box that tells me that I can fix my computer or reinstall windows, NOTHING. I tried several times and received the same result<--(Insanity: root="" meaning...="" just="" saying)="" so="" i="" called="" windows,="" or="" had="" windows="" call="" me="" rather,="" and="" the="" tech="" says="" she's="" never="" heard="" of="" such="" a="" thing="" happening,="" and="" walked="" me="" through="" all="" these="" steps="" that="" i="" have="" already="" tried....="" still="" no="" help.="" so="" i="" am="" asking="" the="" community.="" has="" this="" ever="" happened="" to="" you="" and="" how="" did="" you="" make="" it="" work.="" and="" please="" don't="" post="" a="" list="" of="" regurgitated="" back="" log="" fix="" lists.="" rest="" assured="" i="" have="" already="" done="" it="" and="" failed="" to="" receive="" a="" different="">

Just to isolate the problem, try to download a new copy of Windows 7, and then try again:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Regarding problems with the computer itself, try to disconnect all nonessential equipment attached to it to see if the problem persists.

I would also try switching around components such as modules of memory to see if the problem persists.

I would also check to make sure that all components are mounted and installed correctly.

  • Tecra M10 - update of the BIOS says "this computer is not supported.

Recently refurbished a M10 - 10I to reinstall the operating system. WinXP install at all so I try to update the BIOS as it seems quite old (V1.5). Most recent version (and is available) for this machine seems to be V3.0. Download and try to run the file "P0065V300" and get the message:

Package for the TOSHIBA BIOS ver.3.3.0
    This computer is not supported

What can I do? Its supposed to be for this model!

Also, prefer a version of boot drive, but hey, I can use a version of Windows, assuming that it runs on Win7.

    Hello

Tecra M10 - 10I belongs to the series of PTMB1E and according to the page of the Toshiba UE driver, BIOS v3.00 - WIN is the latest BIOS version which is available for this model.

The BIOS update requires a few additional tools Toshiba as VAP (additional package for Win 7)

If this driver isn't installed, the update of the BIOS would not work.

  • Satellite L30 - 11 d: update Bios to boot from USB

    I have a Satellite L30 11(d) bought Sept 07.

I'm interested in trying to boot from USB, at the present time, my bios does not.
I am looking to update my bios. There is a updated bios updated for me to download (3.10WIN).

    I have 3 questions:

    (1) 3.10WIN allows to boot from USB?

    (2) is 3.10WIN related to the use of MS Vista? (Looking at this article , it seems that the new phoenix / toshiba bios only allows panoramas...?)

    (3) how to settle?

(with ubuntu 7.10 works well... aside from the sound)

    As to the question;

    (1) No, it is not possible to boot from a memory stick USB HDD or USM

    (2) each BIOS for each series of Toshiba notebook is different! Please don t no matter what other laptop computer BIOS or fixed PCs. Satellite L30 - 10 d belongs to the series of the 3,10 and PSL33E BIOS is OS independent. If your laptop comes with XP then the BIOS supports XP completely. Of course, you can try to install Vista but it is possible that some features of the laptop as FN keys will be does not work

    (3) the BIOS should always be done in the Windows operating system. As you can see on the page of the Toshiba driver the BIOS version is called 3.10Win - version

    Hello

I have virus and spyware on my PC. I want to reinstall my drive c with windows 7 instead of 8.1 or at least perform a system recovery, but I can't boot from the drive.

The only items on google I can find state I must disable secure boot and then enter the bios to set the boot order so it starts on the first disc.

The problem is that my monitor is idle (power light flashes) when I try to enter the BIOS. I tried to type esc/f11/f1 or press del to enter bios but my monitor then is idle and never enters the BIOS or go to the windows start screen. If it recognizes clearly that I typed bios key because he won't go to the windows startup screen after that pressing said key.

I also tried recovery windows and tool HP system recovery but at a certain point, it asks me to restart the pc and here again he is stuck at the idle monitor... I never see the start-up of the screen or the other, one that says "press x to enter the bios. My computer will always directly to the windows splash screen once I started.

Any idea what I might try next?

    Hello

Consult this publication article before attempting the downgrade of your PC to Windows 7. I have no recommemd making a downgrade on Windows 8 is superior to Windows 7.

The default settings for the BIOS of your PC 8 version are: inherited and secure boot disabled.

Erasing the CMOS memory will bring back the default values and then you should be able to start the Windows 7 installation media.

This similar model PC will have Windows 7 drivers.

If you have not created the external HP recovery media then you must order at HP if you decide to go back to Windows 8.

  • Can't boot from USB-DM1-4020sa

    Hello

I just bought a HP DM1 Netbook AMD E-450 (4020sa).  I'm just getting started get the configuration of the computer and try to run through some diagnostics to make sure that the material is good.  I have created a 16GB bootable USB key with Memtest on it, formatted FAT32.  Works quite well on my desktop.

However, for the life of me I can't figure out how to boot from USB on the netbook!  I tried to change the boot order, updated the BIOS, trying all 3 USB ports.  Nothing works!

To the first pressing ESC then F9 for the start menu gave me 2 options, one to boot from USB to boot from the hard drive.  I could not choose the USB, it was selected on the hard drive of permenantly.  Now, I don't see the option at all!

I'm considering installing Win7 x 64, Ubuntu and in future Win8... so I need to know a USB booting is possible on this netbook.

    Help, please!  Thank you!

Well, although Memtest86 + v4.20 is supposed to support AMD E-series processors, maybe this doesn't completely still.  I created a key Reader USB with the ISO of Windows 7 x 64, following the instructions of Ars Technica and has worked without any problems whatsoever.

Anyway, do not know why the Memtest86 + won't work, but eh... Well.  The laptop can boot from USB.

Yes, I know Rufus. How I said, I tried my USB in another laptop (a HP ENVY m4 laptop) and work very well. The difference is that the HP ENVY gave me the option to boot from USB and the EliteBook does not.

I realized that, since the post, you did.

I suggested RUFUS and EFI create setup of windows due to the startup problem, that you have with the Elitebook 840.

It may be just what you need for this particular laptop.

If you want this to work, then you must be flexible and willing to solve the problems.

  • Iconia Tab 8 W unable to boot from USB

    Hello

I'd love to start my Iconia Tab 8 W of a USB, UEFI has the option to boot from USB or PXE so that I do not suspect that it supports that in one way or another.

Currently I have no luck with a simple OTG drive, I am able to access it from the same created the boot of Windows media, but no chance to see the drive in the menu of the UEFI (even the start menu only sees the Windows boot loader).

Anyone has any ideas, how to proceed? I don't see any dock available for the Tablet here, but if there are some I would be headed in the direction (even if it is part of another series of the device).

    Thank you

In fact I find the question why the installation CD is not recognized.

Apparentely UEFI AEP 64-bit systems, most, but here, on this tablet UEFI is 32 bits, which is quite rare. I start different bootloader (rEFInd) who works with IA32, and is now working on how to start the * bleep * core so I can install the system. If anyone has any ideas I'm open.

I'll keep this open and update once that I make it work with a solution how to install Linux on this...
