Radeon 300 in XPS 8300 Series

Hi all

I have a XPS 8300 and think to upgrade the video card in it. I swapped the card Dell 6000 specific for a 7850 series, a year or two before, but with the release of the new 300 series of AMD cards, I think to upgrade again.

With the age of the XPS 8300, these new cards will cause problems, or they are basically plug-and-play as my 7850 was?

The individual 960 EVGA GTX 02 G-P4-2966-KR 960 2 GB 128 - Bit GDDR5 SuperSC ACX 2.0 + video card I bought probably will work fine.

A 970 or 980 could not, and would require a new power supply.  The 525W in my T3400 unit works very well with my 960 using 2 6 pins for power adapter 8 pin that comes with the card.

I bought a Radeon 7970 visintek 3 GB graphic card thinking that it works with my xps 8300. It fits everything is plugged in correctly, but when I turn on my computer does not recognize the graphics card? The graphics card is not broken I build it in another computer and it works perfectly. I am very disappointed at this because I thoughtI would save money, do not buy a new computer and just buy the food and the radeon. It turns out that the Radeon does not work. If someone could tell me what the problem is, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jongerber,

A 500W (or more) power with a 150W power connector 8 pin PCI Express and a connector power 75W 6-pin PCI Express is recommended for the graphics card AMD Radeon 7970. Your XPS 8300 has a diet of 460W. This maybe one of the reasons for the question from the video card works on another computer.

Please see the link below for the requirements for the graphics card of Radeo 7970:

The following video cards are compatible with the Dell XPS 8300.

    Discreet (PCI Express x 16 card) - NVIDIA GTX460, NVIDIA GT420 (M207)
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5670/HD 5770 / HD 5870/HD 5450

When you click the compatibility Option in the link below, you will see that the XPS 8300 is not listed under supported for the video card Visiontek AMD Radeon 7970 systems.

  • XPS 8300 upgrade for 60 fps on GTA V

This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I am breaking the rules of the forum or posting in the wrong section.

I'm looking to upgrade my XPS 8300. There the processor i7, 6 GB of ram and ATI Radeon 5670 CPU. If possible, I want to spend less than $300. I want 60 fps or more on moderated video settings.

What are my options? I think I should start with a good video card. Should I upgrade my RAM 8 GB? I don't know what types of RAM are compatible with XPS 8300 motherboard. Do you think I should get a 120 GB SSD, reinstall the OS and only install GTA V on the SSD? The reason why I am considering an SSD is due to loading of those times... Incase you haven't noticed, I'm a huge noob when it comes to this. I don't know the basics. Thank you! :)

    HossMan1
I think I should start with a good video card.

Yes and a power upgrade. Note that only feeds 5.9 inches long or less will adjust the chassis, but you can move the motherboard and other viscera in a third party with the best cooling chassis.

A look at video cards shows that $300 will buy GPU performance much more than the top-of-the-line cards from 2012, when the game is released. However, you should be able to provide the upgrade.

I don't know what types of RAM are compatible with XPS 8300 motherboard.

It's a recent motherboard, so most types of DDR3 memory should work. However, 6 GB should be enough.

reason why I am considering an SSD is because of loading of those times...

Yes, an SSD would improve loading times, and I recommend that you install the operating system on it and the game. You will enjoy a huge helping hand to the performance.

Maybe not. There seems to be some compatibility issues with Nvidia.

A Radeon 7950 and corsair CS850M would be perhaps in order.

  • NVidia Geforce GTX 960 in XPS 8300

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card Radeon HD 6450 in my XPS 8300 a GTX 960 (specifically, the edition of Strix ASUS) and I have a few questions:

He enters the case? (dimensions of the card: 21.52 x 12.12 x4.09 centimeters)

Will it work with the motherboard? (the card is pcie 3.0)

It will work with food? (460w power supply card 'up to 150W additional 6-pin PCIe consumption)

Sorry if I look like a noob but this is my first time upgrading a platform.

    Thank you!

    The graphics card:

    www.Asus.com/.../

The stock answer from Dell, it's that they tested only a handful of older cards.

The reality is that many have done on an 8300. Search this forum and see what worked.

Insofar as the PSU, yes the stock PSU THAT will work with a GTX 960. It has a PCI power with two cable six pins on the connectors. If the specific card you choose has a connector 8 pins, most of the cards equipped with a 8 pin adapter 6.

I'm not 100% on the supply POWER 8300 has two six pin PCI connector.  Best to open the case and look. I thought the 8500, a member of the family was when I wrote this.

But, how old is your system, and how much time it runs a day that it might be time to consider a new power supply. If so, search the forums for what everyone puts in their 8300, 8700 or 8900 again. They are in the same case and best I can tell essentially the same power supply.

Another advantage of upgrading the PSU will be slightly more efficient and quieter.

I upgraded to Seasonic X - 650 s of my 8700 s two and have the OEM in a box as a spare for the members of the family.

So, while I'm spending your money, you might consider a GTX 970. Prices are down because the next generation of cards is almost here. If you're game, you can consider a little more power under the hood of the GPU.

  • XPS 8300 GPU Upgrade

    Hello

I bought my XPS 8300 in 2011. He's been good for me over the years, but now I find that I could use a GPU upgrade. It handles most of the games, but barely meets the minimum. I'm still running Windows 7, but plan on spending at 10 at the end of the year. It has the stock power 460W Dell I have probably as well to replace it. I want the best move that will run on this system and fit in the case. It has the following specifications:
    CPU [email protected]
    16 GB of RAM
    GPU AMD HD 6700

    Thank you.

As a reminder, Dell will not validate Windows 8/8.1/10 on this model. So, you will need to look elsewhere for drivers.

  • Update for Dell XPS 8300

Will be the 02 G-P4-2663-KR of EVGA Geforce GTX 660 FTW Signature 2 2 GB GDDR5 192 bits PCI-E 3.0 x 16 HDCP and the Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus RS-550-PCAR-E3 550w ATX12V V2.3 power supply work in my computer Dell XPS 8300. I ordered end of March 2012 and he received mid April 2012.

    Hi FuzzyTrex,

Dell XPS 8300 comes with Intel H67 Chipset and a PCI Express x 16 card reader for the expansion of video card options. Dell has tested XPS 8300 with the following video cards:

    • ATI Radeon HD 5450 5670 5770 5870 6670 6770 6870 6950
    • NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 GTX 460 GTX560Ti GT545 GT420

However, Dell has not tested 660 GTX video card with XPS 8300, many users have reported he will be working and compatible with the system.

EVGA GTX 660 requires a minimum of 450W power supply and has a maximum circulation of power of 140W. As you said that you would improve the power of 550W, the video card should work with this configuration.

For installation/replacement of the video card, you can view XPS 8300 repair here.

Note: Make sure that you follow the instructions in the manual before installing the video card.

    I hope this helps.

  • XPS 8300, upgrade video card

    Hi I have a Dell XPS8300

It came with the card AMD Radeon HD 6450, but there isn't enough good run the latest games, not even with settings very low... This is why I intend to upgrade that.

The problem is that I don't know if the map I want to buy is compatible or if I could make it work... I'm really new to this so I need a little help please...

    It's the map: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclock-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-3753-KR/dp/B00IDG3IDO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1401905637&sr=8-4&keywords=nvidia+gtx+780

Im not in that of a hardcore gamer who wants ultra graphics on all games, I want to just that my PC to run the latest games at least on a medium to high heat (or even low) with decent FPS...

I believe that my 6 GB DDR3 RAM and Intel core i5-2300 (2.80 Ghz) with this video card should be enough.

Please let me know (any expert on the subject) if I can use this card without problem so I can just click 'buy' haha. Or if it something else I have to make it work please let me know

    Thanks :)!

GTX 560 it is no longer on the market so there is no need to buy this card unless you found it used for $100 or less on ebay.  The GTX 750 Ti is a better deal for a new card and I'd get this one.  I've seen where users have for their XPS 8300 GTX 750 it and it works fine.

  • Dell XPS 8300 GPU issues

    I had a Dell XPS 8300 since 2011.

    The specifications are:

    Image Intel i7-2600 3.4ghz processor

    460W POWER supply

    8 GB RAM

Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 5670 1 GB GDDR5

My problem is that my video card is dead after 4 years and I need a replacement as good, or better, for less than $100. At first, I thought it was easy. Ordered a GT 730, a card nice entrance a little better than the 5670 range and more efficient power and he went through the installation process. The AMD drivers, uninstalled, change video card and it fits perfectly. The problem is that I just get a black screen on startup or, sometimes, the Dell splash screen.

After hours of research I discovered that this won't work because the motherboard, 0y2mrg and it's bios, A06, are incompatible with the new GPU. Seriously? Rarely have I never heard of this problem. The last update is in 2011, the same year that I got this PC when it was new. What the hell with the lack of support?

Whether it is, I'll find something which is compatible, but unnecessarily difficult. Those who have asked the same question to be taken from a few years ago and expired or no response. I've seen the Dell has approved the cards and they are ridiculously overpriced for what they are. The 5670 is a super card low-end and was again released as a back then, but Dell wants to sell for more than $200? If I try to look for it on other sites, like Amazon or Newegg, it is almost impossible to find or too expensive.

My question is this, what is a good video card that costs more than $100 - $110 that works with the card mother Dell XPS 8300 and requires no other parts to change?

Yes, I actually. The variant 750 GTX & it worked perfectly. I guess that something more old than they would be too much like GTX 780 if you wanted something strong, but you would probably need a bigger power supply. The GT 720 and 730 WON'T WORK if you wanted a less expensive solution. The GTX 750 TI is perfect as a modest solution however.

  • XPS 8300

I'm looking at the XPS 8300, but I have questions. I need two monitors, the 8300 will help me do that? I would add the TV tuner, but when I add a second video card it tells me that I have no more Pci-e slots. What can I do?  I'm going with 16 GB of ram and 1.5 TB HD, I'll add the rest of my hard drive with external drives space. Can someone help me with a decent intelligent construction? Thank you

    Peace

    Michael

What are you trying to accomplish with this version?

None of the video cards will support dual monitors. The basic card (Radeon HD6450) only supports a DVI and VGA, but going back all of them have double DVI connections. With the HD6770 & they all support also double connections & DVI Display Port.

However I don't see where you can add a second video card to the XPS 8300. And the configuration that I built, with the highest GPU of range, yet does not prevent me to add TV Tuner.

  • The upgrade of my Dell XPS 8300

    Hello

Currently, I use my Dell XPS 8300 with set up the following:

    • Intel core i7 - 2600 to 3.4 GHz
    • 8 GB RAM
    • GPU: Radeon HD 5770
    • PSU: 460W (AC460AD-00)

It has served me well but shows it's age while I was looking to upgrade the graphics card and the power supply if necessary. But this is the first time I did something like this then I'd some tips / warnings on the potential pitfalls before buying something.

After doing some background reading, I was thinking get a GTX 970 and upgrade the PSU, but I would like to know, questions, I could deal with that. I heard there were problems with XPS 8300 bios don't do not work well with graphics cards. I am currently on AO3, but there is no problem if necessary upgrade.

My budget is around £400-£500 if anyone knows the best ways to update my PC.

    Thank you.

Consider using this for now until you can buy new. Spending that much on unnecessary updates are not handy on a computer that is a few years old. You have a good installation now - 8 GB of ram, big power, i7 cpu that is best for your motherboard - as long as everything works. New computers can easily be purchased for what your budget allows for upgrades. The only thing to consider is a video card a little better that your power supply will take place as well as better control that you can use when you get a new computer. Ignore the upgrade of processor since that is not worth the expense or effort for minimal returns. You most likely impossible to switch the cpu to a newer version without replacing the motherboard. I would make sure to have the latest and probably last - bios A06.

  • Person we know what power supply is on the XPS 8300

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 8300 and you want to buy a video card double to support two monitors.  I read a few different items to a 500 Watt power supply.  I looked on the delivery, when I bought the 8300, but it does not show the power.  Other than opening the case, is there a way I can find food that is installed?

    Thank you!!!

I think it's the same thing that the 8500 is 460W, which has two six pin PCIe power connectors.

    What exact card do you?

In addition, if you have not opened the file in a while, you could do this (outside) with a can of compressed clean air on the dust bunnies.

  • Card mother XPS 8300

    Hello

I think the motherboard in my XPS 8300 is trying to die, or at least give me a lot of trouble.

I get different blue screens lately, quite often (up to twice a day). Almost everytime, they were accompanied by sounds from my hard drive (for example, the disc to stop spinning, etc.). If naturally my first step was to get another hard drive and try to back up my data (thinking my hard drive was dying).

I tried with various programs of cloning (AOMEI Backupper, CloneZilla and so on) and they have all failed to clone the drive (usually say they could not create the new disk partition table). I then tried to install Windows 10 fresh on the new drive (with the old drive disconnected) and who also failed with windows saying that it could not format the partition just created on the new drive.

Because the drive is new, I thought, as a test, I will try to connect to another machine to see if it still would not work. Well, it works fine. I am currently cloning my old drive to my new as I wrte it on the other machine. So at least there is that - my data should be safe. I might have bought a hard drive for nothing, but that doesn't matter that much.

An extra tidbit of information, it's that even starting from the cloning software CD was much faster on this machine on my XPS 8300.

So I think at the very least, the drive on the motherboard controller gives me bad.

    Now, my question.

I want to try buying a replacement motherboard, because the whole machine is still very fast (the CPU is one of the first core i7s, but it is always fast and I replaced the card graphics and RAM over the years). So if I was able to solve this problem, I could always get a lot of use from this computer.

Should I try to get the same motherboard model (i.e. a replacement motherboard for Dell this type exact) Dell or that I can find on ebay for example?

Or should I get a micro-ATX Socket 1155 motherboard to another brand of renown such as ASUS or other?

Honestly, I'm afraid that if I get an original parts of the same exact type, it will just fail again somehow not too long from now. This motherboard is actually a replacement that Dell sent a technician to install in my machine after I bought it, because the motherboard of the computer delivered with had a defect... And now this, so I'm not exactly sure in original spare parts from Dell...

I found information on this thread:

    Link to thread

on this same forum explaining what are the specific connectors of the XPS 8300 motherboard, so I should be able to connect any motherboard that fits the case.

What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.

    Hello RoHe,

I ran thorough tests of RAM and HDD diagnosis. It took a long time (about 12 hours), but revealed no problem.

I was able to replace my motherboard.

I wanted to let you know also, that Windows was able to start on the new motherboard (after a phase of 'prepare the pilots' as when you install at the start). Also, it was not enabled when I started, but I was able to use the Windows 7 Pro key that came with my Dell to activate the already installed Windows 10 Pro, it worked like a charm.

So it was way less problems you said it would be, and now my machine is in excellent working condition.

    Thank you.
