[RAM] DV7 - 7015CA upgrade

OK, so I'm quite confused by the specifications of my laptop, on the list of specifications of HP (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-5226224-5255925.html...), it says max ram 8 GB, is that max altogether? or for each niche? as I have 2 slots for ram, each currently installed with 4 GB.

from my understanding, the max ram is determined by support of the CPU and OS.
As windows 7 Home Edition premium supports up to 16 GB (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx #physical_memory_limit...)

and i7-3610QM boasts a support up to 32GB (http://ark.intel.com/products/64899/)

to see how my OS and CPU have the lowest of 16 GB, means that I can spend each of my 4 GB ram to 8 GB? I will have a total of 16 GB.

Here are a few minor issues, I have:
is it possible to upgrade CPU or GPU on a laptop? I don't think it's possible, but I'm just a question.

If HP says that 8 GB is the maximum it will take, and then for the most part, that's all. HP sets the BIOS as to what each notebook can take and you can change that on an HP laptop. Even if the processor is able to process more, you're stuck in the BIOS to allow changes.

What do you need 16 or even 32 GB of RAM for? Run a virtual operating system, same heavy video editing would have hard time making use of 16 GB of RAM.

Processor:

Here is a list of processors that would work in the machine to you and you are already running that fast.

http://Ark.Intel.com/products/series/65128

Look on page 81 _ you have maxed out the CPU.

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03221579.PDF

Run may also run this RAM of Crucial research program and I don't know that it will tell you that the max is 8 GB.

http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

Impossible to pass either the GPU is soldered right on the MoBo.

He is already running the GT 630 M, is not many out there who is faster, there is a 680 M, but you'll need a new machine to do this.

What you trying to do?

Install an SSD will improve things, your a standard only operates at 5400 RPM.

    Hello

I intend to upgrade the memory of my machine, but I can't seem to find the manufacturer and the speed of the current. I would like to buy exactly the same.

My laptop is HP Pavilion DV7 Entertainment PC 3150eq, currently, it has 4 GB and supports up to 8. Looked the specifications, but the only information it has 4 GB of DD3 RAM and the motherboard supports up to 8 GB of RAM. It does not say how many slots is 2, 4, etc.

Anyone know who is the manufacturer and the speed of the RAM memory installed on the laptop model? And if not to much to ask, how many slots memory is on the motherboard?

    Hello

Normally, each laptop has 2 slots for RAM. You can use the following information:

    Memory type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 (non - ECC)
    Maximum memory: 8 GB - Slots: 2
Each slot of memory can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-8500 with a maximum of 4 GB per slot.

  • Pavilion dv7-6b76eo: upgrade of RAM HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo

I created a thread really well here and received great help from @Paul_Tikkanen so if he or someone else could help me, that would be great. Don't know why I can't post a reply in this thread again. They either closed the thread or I'm blind. In any case, I have the HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo and plan an upgrade of RAM. Currently I have samsung 2 x 4 Go PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333.

    1. I think go to ddr4, but what keeps me is some threads I have read saying ddr4 won't even in good physical shape in a ddr3 slot (which is my current) as well as this piece of info from Wikipedia:

DDR4 SO-DIMM have 260 pines (instead of 204 pin DDR3), which are evenly spaced more close (0.5, rather than 0.6 mm) and are 2.0 mm wider (69.6 against 67.6 mm), but still the same 30 mm in height.

    Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR4_SDRAM

    • 204-pin SO-DIMM (DDR3) have a single notch closest in the center than at 200-pin SO-DIMM.
    • 260-pin SO-DIMM (DDR4), 69.6 mm (2,74 in.) wide and 30 mm (1.2 inches) in height, making it wider than the DDR3 SO-DIMM, with one notch after pin 2 mm 144 (0,079 in.).

    Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM

This means that a chip of RAM SODIMM ddr4 wouldn't even in good physical shape in the slot of my laptop?

    2. well, okay... If I have to make my peace with her and stay with DDR3 can I at LEAST faster DDR3 install i.e. PC3-17000 / DDR3-2133 because my current a PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333 is sorta slow sometimes?

Thanks in advance and would really appreciate an answer to the question 1 and 2 above!

    @nematsvehclav

    I couldn't say with certainty.

But I have yet to see a 16 GB memory for a laptop card. "Yet."

Not a typing mistake. You are looking at a price of at least $150 to get this memory of any reputable vendor.

This is a laptop purchased in 2009, it has a dual-core pentium cpu and amd 4650 video card.

I think the upgrade with a new ssd and perhaps new ram. I guess that's the Chipset Mobile Intel® HM65 Express, does it support a faster processor? and it is worth the money/possible to do for a noob?

I did a few pc built, no experience with laptops. But ram and ssd would be rather forward?

I also thought of a video card, this becomes hot and sound!

    And freakin Vista...

    Hello

DV7 is a series of hundreds of models, what is yours? Normally the upgrade RAM, CPU & HDD to SSD is a simple task, but the video card upgrade is very hard, costly impossible (or very, very, very expensive). The upgrade will not work unless you same CPU family. The following manual shows you a list of processors supported from day 1:

Yes, you can install a 250 GB SSD, but the recovery disc can not work on it from the smallest disk sold with the machine has been 500 concerts. You know that the computer can manage 2 hard drives, right?

  • HP Pavilion DV7 - 4183CL: upgrade of RAM 16 GB for HP Pavilion DV7 - 4183CL

    Hi all

Am so confused with all the flying on tech stuff.

You will need to upgrade to a 16 GB RAM installation to get the best out of the game juice. Am running 6 GB (4 + 2) stock the installer which simply do not cut it. Please can you guide me what RAM should I buy?

I can't give a sense of the markings on my current RAM. It reads - 4 GB 2RX8 PC3 - 10600S - 9 - 10 - PS... WHT is to say all? The new 8GB Rams should I buy read exactly the same?

Would appreciate if you could help me. Thanks in advance!

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Your memory tops out at 8 GB, I am sorry to say. But wouldn't you do better game by installing 16 concerts, anyway. You can help video performance a little bit making sure that memory is in mode dual channel which means you need 2 identical modules. If you need to mix the 2 gig you have in there and get a module 4 GB like the one you already have.

    See page 62 for instructions.

    Memory 4 GB 599092-001

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-VH641AT-4-GB-DDR3-PC3-10600/DP/B0030L3B8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1460915079&SR=8-1&keywords=599092-001

Games just need a sufficient amount of system memory and the upgrade to 8 concerts has a meaning. The real workhorse in the game is the video card and there is nothing you can do to upgrade you. You have the Radeon 5470 switchable video of AMD, which is well quite obsolete but in no case a terrible portable video system.

  • Upgrading Ram on HP Pavilion DV7-6c95dx (upgrade to 16 GB)

I have recently turned into issues with my ram being most used and have been unable to run certain applications due to lack of ram. So I looked further and previews section that my laptop was able to have a two RAM sticks 8 GB ram upgrade, which gives 16 gigabytes. But the question I have is that I can't find more information. For example where to get this RAM, how fast can I have on it. That sort of thing.

If anyone can help find 16 GB (two 8 GB sticks) compatible with my computer, it would be greatly helpful! Also if theres an option for a higher speed of ram that could help greatly.

Yes, it's exactly what you need.

  • Pavilion dv7-1004ea: upgrade my Hp Dv7 laptop 1004EA

    Hello

I have this computer pavilion laptop dv7-1004ea and I want to upgrade the CPU and memory.

What is the best processor suported and the memory of the motherboard?

    Can support the i3, i5, i7?

Can support this type of memory: 8 GB DDR 3 at 1600 mhz?

What battery is correct for this cell with 6600mah more?

    Thank you!

The program is accurate... it is your chipset, but the problem is the conclusions you want to draw information. HP configures to use specific processors and memory as described in the service manual I posted so information on what chipset is capable of by hypothesis are not really relevant. The RAM slots are clavetés for DDR2 and you might not get a DDR3 module in there if you tried. Only some specific processors will work with BIOS and hardware. So not Quad Cores. Up to Core 2 Duo T9600.

  • HP pavilion dv7 1260us: upgrade memory and processor for hp pavilion dv7 1260us

I was wondering if possible to upgrade my memory and processor... hp pavilion dv7 1260us?

    Here are the specs:

    Plug

You have an AMD Turion RM-74 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The RAM is DDR2 and it may take 8 GB of DDR2, but that the memory of any reputable vendor is crazy expensive, like $150 ++ for 2 x 4 gig modules.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The top of the page compatible processor is an AMD Turion™ Ultra Dual-Core 35W ZM-86 2.40 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

If you want to go from 2.2 ghz to 1 meg to 2.4 ghz with 2 MB of L2 cache L2 cache, may be a treatment of 20% energy improvement. Not enough, IMO, to justify the difficulty because it is still not in the ballpark of machines of today.

You can buy the processor from a dealer renowned for $15 with free shipping. That should tell you what the demand is for her. Basically obsolete.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/AMD-Turion-X2-ultra-dual-core-Zm-86-2-4GHz-dual-core-Laptop-CPU-TMZM86DAM23GG-/401122492329?hash=item5d64c37fa9:g:KMsAAOSwZetXO2Wh

I replaced motherboards in several series dv7-1000, and it is one of the harder to take apart laptops. Many cables in strange tablecloth and Remora in all directions.

We are ready to help in any way possible with the upgrade, but in this case probably the best advice that I can give you is "don't".

  • Pavilion dv7-3101sa: upgrade Hp-Paviliondv7-3101sa

Welcome and thank you for spending your time to read my post, I hope you can help me

So, I got my old Pavilion dv7 3101sa and I was wondering if you could tell me what are the ebst options to upgrade.

What is the best SSD hard drive that I could buy? Is there a difference between the SSD hard drivers?
I have 4 GB of ram and I want to move to 8 GB is there any higher frequency should I buy?
And could you tell me what is the best processor that can run my laptop?
And the final question is anyway to upgrade GPU?

Here are all the tabs screen shoots when I run CPU - Z on the laptop.

    Thank you for reading

This is the top of the page processor:

    AMD Turion™ X 2 Ultra Dual-Core M640 35 - W, 2.60 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache

No triple or quadruple-heart is compatible. The upgrade would you take of 2.3 ghz with a cache L2 1 MB to 2.6 ghz with 2 MB L2 cache memory.

    Your service Manual

Given that these processors are more desirable, they got dirt cheap:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-AMD-Turion-II-Ultra-M640-TMM640DBO23GQ-Mobile-CPU-/330723025336?hash=item4d00a0e1b8:m:m5a6tYBEaA24irFN - dHb5vg

For $32, I would upgrade. Keep in mind, none of this will help games performance at all. You have integrated graphics card Radeon 4350 UMA which is unimpressive to say the least. The SSD will give you faster boot time and better performance of the app and the 8 GB of RAM would you allow to run other things at the same time. Spend you all this money and do all this work and then be always wanting something better, I predict.

    Hello

1 USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 for a laptop is a change that is very expensive because it will affect to the motherboard to change USB card and even the motherboard itself.

2 RAM: Yes, you can jump to 8 GB of RAM:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c02575528

Please use Crucial tool, it will scan your machine and tell you RAM adapted. You can buy here or use the information to buy elsewhere:

3 SSD: Your current HARD drive is very good. If you want to upgrade to an SSD, you can go to her but interms performance/price, that's a little overkilled.

    -BIOS F.29

    2 problems:

    -Slow CPU

    -Slow HARD drive

I want to buy a few HARD drives SSD for Windows and secondary soft and left for the data.

Get an increase in the performance of the system?

On the 'Intel' site, I read that my

    Intel® HM55 Express Chipset Mobile

is compatible with the more powerful processors. LINK

    And I have a great opportunity to buy Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13 GHz)

    But the laptop manual says:

720QM and 940xm - identical processors. The difference in 'MAX TDP' 45w/55w, 'Cache' 6 mb / 8 mb and clock speed 1.6 GHz/2.13 GHz

The Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13) will work properly in my laptop?

    or not?

I have read many articles on this topic, but the answer is not...

And I can't find information on HP F.29 BIOS specification.

How can I increase a CPU nested way (with another compatible processor) perfomance if 940xm is not compatible?

    Help me please.

    Thank you for your time.

Hello nickiblackmore.  I understand that you are curious about the upgrade of your laptop.

Here is a link to Guide of Service and Maintenance of your laptop.  It covers the disassembly of the laptop and can also show you how to replace parts if you upgrade the.

If you switch to a Solid State Drive of a standard 5400 or 7200 RPM hard drive, you should see a significant performance increase.  This is because a normal hard drive spinning platters and it takes time to locate data on the trays as they are moving.  A Solid State Drive has no moving parts and therefor can locate data much more quickly.

A CPU upgrade is a much more difficult question.  HP does not recommend that you perform this type of upgrade.  Laptops are generally designed with specific thermal and electrical needs.  If you change the CPU, it will probably create more heat and use a higher power that will cause you problems.  However, if you stick to a processor that is listed in the service (for example in your picture) Guide, you should be fine.  For example, you can choose one of the microprocessors found in the image to upgrade your laptop.  Also, keep in mind that the integral part upgrade as a CPU can affect your warranty (check your warranty here).

If you think that answers your question be sure to mark the post as solved.  This makes it easier for others to find answers to their questions.

    Have a great day!
