• Renders TIFF and JPEG from the RAW files appear different as seen in Bridge

  I work with the demo of Photoshop CS6, with cab 7.1. CS6 System Info will appear at the bottom of this post. Summary: AMD Phenom II x 6 1090 t., 16 GB RAM, Win7 64 bit, nVidia GTX 460 video w/1 GB RAM, approx. 2.5 TB of free space on several internal physical disks, Canon 50 d, CR2 files. I have a camera profile generated by the profile editor, and the monitor is calibrated with i-to-1 Match.

  I practiced with the new basic Panel controls (2012 process). When I felt that I was getting the hang of them, I started to save JPEG and TIFF files and noticed differences between what appears in the bridge and ACR. I worked on it for a while and searched some other threads in the Forum that seemed to speak of similar results. I have now tried to Image Processor via the bridge, save the Image in ACR and open > save manually in PS CS6. By what route, the TIFF and JPEG are different (lighter in the following examples, but this isn't always the case), while the saved PSD seems to be close, but not identical to the CR2 in Bridge or Photoshop. Here is a screenshot of the bridge thumbnails that show the differences.

  

  I hope that the labels come out legibly. The two images on the second row are respectively of CR2 and PSD. What is really strange to me is that when I re-recorded the PSD file in TIFF format, the same type of difference appears in the TIFF format. (See the _MG_7960_via_PSD.tif above.) I downloaded the CR2, its XMP, TIFF and JPEG on Sendspace (107 MB) file. I did earlier in my experiences and regret that the naming of the files is not as informative as perhaps.

  I ran a few other ACR adjusted by images of CR2 Image Processor and saw a variety of differences between rendering files and the FIRST versions. The differences appear to be in the exposure and contrast. Most of them looked a bit darker, unlike the examples above.

  You have the option to auto tone apply verified? I noticed and reported that a bridge bug is CS5, when your car is verified. It may still be around.

  IF prefs are designed to open jpef/TIFF image in ACR * IF * the files has ACR settings (aka a XMP file), * AND * auto tone has been verified * THEN * auto tone has been applied to the bridge thumbnails even if jpef/tiff did not ACR settings. Thumbnail/preview looks so different when opened in photoshop and others. The thumbnail has the auto tone and the opened file does not.

  After editing my images in LR, then exporting to ch for further editing, then by saving the TIFF format to JPEG file in Dropbox, images of the thumbnail to look good. However, when I open them in a photo viewer, or email them, they become desaturated. With the help of Windows 10. Anyone know why that would happen? It does not occur when I change a JPEG image. This happens only when I edit a raw in LR, then export to ch and, further editing and change the TIFF to JPEG file type.

  They will have to be registered to the sRGB colourspace, check the setting when you export for email...

  I have an ongoing project where I need to save multiple files in PS.  I'm opening the raw (NEF) files and their processing in Photoshop.  I need to keep a copy of tiff for archival purposes and a JPEG as an accessible file.  When I save as in PS, this will affect the quality of the image if I first save the tiff or jpeg format?  In other words, if I save the file as a jpeg, is converted to a JPEG in PS?  And if I then save in tiff format it will be a tiff degraded because it is saved in a jpeg file?

  I may be wrong on this, but if you have a file open, whatever, as long as you don't close then reopen the image. Jpeg compression does not affect the image which opened, just the version stored on the disc.

  Make sure that you convert to RGB or in grayscale and 8-bit/channel (modes that supports the JPEG).

  There are no stupid questions here

  Lens corrections will be recognized and applied to JPEG in RAW if you use Canon DPP. If you use Lightroom or any other software other than Canon that they are not recognized.  Lightroom has its own set of Canon lens correction profiles.

  a TIFF file... go to... File / save as a JPEG.

• My version of Photoshop CS3 cannot convert tiff to jpeg files

  I bought Creative Suite CS3, including Acrobat 8.0 professional.  I have transferred my CS3 to a new windows 7 Professional 64 bit PC and has done so with the help of an officer of Adobe.  All the programs launched OK. As a first step, the software would not be registered, but previous forums has shown a work around... the screen recording said essentially no connection to the internet... so after some research, I spent that.

  But Photoshop won't give me the possibility to convert TIFF to JPEG formats... files menu option is no longer visible.  AND Acrobat 8.0 launch so well I can convert MS word/Excel files to PDF formats, I can't use Acrobat Distiller/Acrobat 8.0 to combine several PDF files open in a PDF doc... Suspect it's a problem of software upgrade...  Is it?

  Change it to 8-bit/channel and then check out.

  Thank you Joe Maniac.  I deleted the original linked files on my internal hard drive which were dng files, but had copies of the raw files edited and edited the exported raw files (in JPEG format).  I don't have copies of dng files.  So what I ended up having to do was import the original raw files which then made a DNG copy on my internal hard drive.  The link has not changed, but now the files were back in the original track for missing photo alerts disappeared and I was able to see my change history.  The process has been painful, but without the dng, I had nothing to do a link to more if at least re-import them files has recreated the dng.  I don't know if there was an easier way, but it seemed that the problem did not the link deletion.  I use LR for a few years, but it was a rookie mistake, precipitated by my hard drive being so jammed up I ended up delete what I shouldn't.  I should have just moved the dng and the link to an external hard drive.   You can use the procession of images of PS or bridge. Or you can use Save as in camera raw.

• Photos opening in Adobe Camera Raw tiff

  I can't open my tiff files / photos in Adobe Camera Raw.  I use CS6 which has been completely updated with all current updates. I go to the bridge, highlight a thumbnail photo of tiff and go back the menu drop-down file.  The open in raw selection is grayed out and I can't select it.  It works very well with jpeg files, and I can open files raw without problems.  It works just not the tiff files. I spent in preferences and selected the option to open all tiff supported flles, but it doesn't work anymore.

  I uninstalled Photoshop and Bridge and reinstalled and all new updated and it will be again let me open tiff files in Camera Raw.

  Any ideas?

  I am more inclined to believe that the problem is with the tif files themselves. Not all of the tif files are equal. It depends on the compression, bit mode and so on. Tiff files can be opened in photoshop? If so, then maybe just the problem. If this isn't the case, then the file itself is maybe corrupted. But I'm leaning toward the settings used when you save the file.

  I'm working on JPEG (about 6 MB) in Adobe LR and when I export my photos in TIFF files (16 bits, no compression - I may need tweaking on PS), they jump to more than 100 MB!

  I think I understood that this happens normally with the RAW files, but my starting point here is JPG, so I really don't understand what is happening.

  Also, when I change the resolution in the export window, it made no difference. How is that?

  I'm working on JPEG (about 6 MB) in Adobe LR and when I export my photos in TIFF files (16 bits, no compression - I may need tweaking on PS), they jump to more than 100 MB! I think I understood that this happens normally with the RAW files, but my starting point here is JPG, so I really don't understand what is happening.

  It has kind of wrong there JPEG and Raw file sizes are somehow 'normal' and other sizes are 'big '. In reality, it is the opposite: Raw and JPEG are highly compressed and uncompressed TIFF is closer to a "native" file for any image size. We are just freaked out by size uncompressed because we are not used to seeing them. It starts from a JPEG file is not serious... you always try to reconstitute the original uncompressed image content. If you start from a Raw or JPEG, and the content of the image is virtually identical, export a TIFF uncompressed for the same characteristics at the same time can produce files of similar size, regardless of the size of the original file are the sizes. As you export without compression, no gimmicks can be used to compress by color, pattern, etc. The ground is level, so that you get similar non compressed file sizes.

  You have to rework them should not be a concern, because Photoshop can open any TIFF Lightroom able to export. You can and should enable Zip compression for 16-bit TIFF files.

  Resolution only changes the size of the file when the dimensions of the physical image are locked. This is because the resolution is a ratio: there are both the ppi and the inches that are associated with. If you set the image to 1000 x 1000 pixels, but you attach to a physical measure such as in. or cm, then it's always going to be 1000 x 1000 pixels if you set it to 100 ppi and 300 ppi. It will take just less inches if you were to print it. If you want to get smaller when you reduce the value of the resolution of a file, you must also enter the physical size of the image. If you set the image size to 3 x 3 inches at 300 dpi, and then you change to 3 x 3 inches to 100 ppi, of course the physical resolution and the size of the file must fall in this case.   I need to convert my Canon RAW image JPEG files. Ive followed the guidelines recommended by microsoft help but it does not work. I opened with paint and tried to convert, but it used. I want to be abe to use these images and the mail and download on my network.

  I've a canon g11. normally all my images are in JPEG, I have chosen a different setting on the camera to take these specific pictures as the huge dimensions 2736 by 3648... to come as Canon RAW (CR2) files.

  any suggestions on how to convert to JPEG would be very appreciated! Thank you!!
