• RD120 Win2k8 X 64 cd-rom drive

  I managed to install windows 2008 X 64 using the easy installation cd, but when the operating system starts Finally I can't access to the contents of any cd or dvd on this drive.

  I updated the firmware with the same drive with a boot cd, but still nothing from windows even if on the Device Manager the drive is ok...

  Any suggestions?

  Just go to the Device Manager and double click on the IDE controller that the cd-rom is on, then on the Advanced Properties tab, uncheck DMA.

  Hello qwermans, this is usually caused by out of date addons, firebug would be one of them - in case you have installed, please upgrade to the latest version.

• A30 - 614, how to set memory maximum grafic?

  I have a laptop A30-614. I upgraded the memory from 512 to 1024mg.

  your laptop is an Intel Extreme graphics chip and an Intel 852GME chipset with 64 MB shared memory.

  But the chipset has a feature called smart Memory Management (IMM) which manages the dynamics of shared memory. So only when the laptop computer needs more RAM for the game you have 64 MB available!

  It is a power management feature to save battery power!

  So don't worry about that, everything of fine!

• I can't open the files ZIP sent me from users of PC

  IMM receiving zip files of the people that I have download - but I can't open them. I have Pages, Numbers and Keynote - no Word programs. Whenever I have r click to open, it creates just a copy!

  Zip files are compressed files. Clicking on them should produce a version uncompressed file that they sent you.  It may have a different file name or even be a record.  It will not be something that you open with the applications that you list, but there is a utility on the Mac that does this.

  So I put to update the BMC firmware to support the M5s. The IMM all works very well. I have an CN4054S adapter that I have disabled the multi-channel mode and all ports except port 0 in the IMM node. 1 IOM works for other nodes of era of M4 in the chassis with 2 port emulex adapters. I want to only 10 Gbit ethernet - there is no network convergence going on. I'm not really sure how to determine which port should be on the IOM, but all the ports are enabled. We try to use VLAN1. The NETWORK card has no configuration of VLAN. The IMM shows the physical port out of service. Any ideas that I do get the coming port?

  Have you tried to update firmware IMM2?

  Latest version is v5.60, where I don't know if apply to your symptom but seems there is a fix for the problems of FAN since v5.40.

• Time to update the BIOS and firmware of remote management?

  I'll put up a 'new' ThinkServer RD630 (2954A6U). It was purchased for a project that never happened, and we are now dry and reuse to replace an old Office Server. The current firmware versions are:

  • BIOS: 2.05
  • ME: 2.1.5.73
  • BMC 1.7
  • IPMI 2.0

  Page 61 of the User Guide ThinkServer says, "update the BIOS on your server only if the new BIOS version specifically solves a problem you have. We don't recommend updates to the BIOS for servers that do not need. [...]"

  As far as I know, we have no problems. The system starts fine and runs Windows Server 2012 well enough.

  HERE'S MY QUESTION:

  Should I update the BIOS and firmware IMM (remote management) to the current version? Are there hidden problems, security issues or other concerns that it is worth?

  Other indicators of initial configuration that you can share with a new admin would be much appreciated, too! Thank you.

  With the help of the Lenovo Support, I was able to fix my problem where I couldn't get to the menu of the BIOS of the 630 RD (in F1) and all I saw was a cursor on the screen. I describe the procedure in detail here:

  Hi, my wife Laptop(P300-150) has developed a tick unit HDD1 - I would like to replace this 250 GB drive with other, larger capacity HARD drive. So my question is twofold

  (1) what is the maximum size of disk HARD of this laptop can tolerate? -500 GB?
  (2) does it matter if I buy a SATA - II - when the original disc in a SATA drive?

  Unfortunately there is no document where you can find this info on the maximum capacity of the HARD drive that can be used with the Satellite P300 but I m 100% sure you can use 500 GB on Satellite P300.

  I don't know if your laptop has a SATA II controller but, as far as I know, SATA II is backward compatible and I think you can use it on your laptop, but it runs with SATA that access speed.

  Upgrade disk SATA I HARD and you will be happy with it.
