Re: Equium keyboard suddenly stopped to type a few letters

Hello

my mother has a Toshiba Equium and just called to say that its order type the letters "s", "d", and 'g' - does anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

Thanks, Clare

Hello

Looks like a malfunction of the keyboard...
In my opinion, you should contact the ASP technician to replace the keyboard.
The point is that it s not possible to replace the simple buttons... of course, you can replace the key caps but nit full press...

Therefore, a replacement of keyboard would be necessary in order to solve this problem.

  • USB mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working

My USB connected Microsoft USB Bluetooth mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working today. After researching everything I could, I didall that I could find as a possible solution that has been:

    • Update of the chipsets
    • Uninstalling usb in Device Manager and reboot devices
    • Updated via Device Manager, usb devices
    • Reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7
    • Stop, unplug and allow the card mother "reset".
    • Try multiple ports
    • There is no 'connect' button on my mouse so I can not sure try this
    • Replace the batteries in my mouse
    • Obviously both devices have been connected
    • Updated the software for the mouse

I have tried literally everything I could think of or read previously and I am out of options. Oddly enough however, after reformatting and reinstalling windows, my USB storage device is found and is working, but the keyboard and mouse are not. Please don't bother not suggest anything I listed above, I obviously already tried and found no chance.

    Update
I have solved my problem. For later use, if anyone has this problem and no other solution seems not work; That's what I did.

I bought a USB 2 ports PCI card and installed in my computer, then go back to Windows XP. While my original front and rear USB ports still recognize a flash drive, they do not recognize the keyboard or USB mouse, make ports PCI card. I had also updated ALL the updates of windows on the site, not the auto update available on the desktop. Although I don't know the cause, I am certain that somewhere, something was is altered by the hardware or software, and my default USB ports do not recognize mouse or keyboards.

Another piece of knowledge in case anyone is interested; I use a card mother gigabyte s-series and my nvidia video card GeForce previously is no longer recognized in the port, it would cause my computer go into a State of hibernation and the monitor would go into "Analog Power Saving Mode". The only solution was to spend a friend with my video card. (Its graphics card is a GeForce 9800 GTX, mine was a GeForce 9800 GT. No reason why it should make a difference.) According to me, even if my computer is less than two years old, I was sold a bad mother. I read online cases in other forums for technical support of people having the same problem. Gigabyte motherboards stop random ports for no known reason.

  • my keyboard suddenly begin to type a character over and over again and I can't stop it. Comes to post notes or elsewhere

My keyboard suddenly started typing a character again and again and I couldn't stop. Arrived at post notes or anywhere where I tried to type. At the same time my wireless mouse began to be nervous and some characters appeared on my typing ("n" with 2 different symbols above it.) I rebooted, but not better - then changed my wireless keyboard - mouse always nervous. But my wireless keyboard does not produce the 'a' and 's' (the reason I went back to wired keyboard) so I reconnected the keyboard and the problem disappeared. Is there any other fix if this happens again?

Change the batteries, and then maybe try to carefully clean the keyboard and especially around the defective key, or - if the switch or circuit is damaged, or if there was liquid damage, and it's not just a crud stuck in keyswitches - replace the keyboard.

  • 13 x 2 Pavilion: pavilion 2 x keyboard suddenly stops working

Suddenly, my keyboard doesn't work after a cold start. The touchpad still works so I am able to move the slider autour, but none of the keys on keyboard activity. All about the Tablet seems to work from a tactile point of view. Reading another post on this forum suggested to uninstall HP System Event Utility, then reinstall using the link provided in the solution. However, the installation was interrupted due to the incompatibility with my system.

I've recently upgraded the operating system of Win8.1 to Win10, but returned to the time where I ran out of memory on my 64 GB ssd. I did a week ago and everything worked fine except that it seems to take more time to do a cold start or restart. Not sure if this is related or not.

I understand that your keyboard does not respond.  Why did you move to Windows 10 but returned to 8.1 of Windows due to lack of space on your SSD 64 GB.  Now your (virtual) keyboard edge works very well so you are able to navigate, but the physical keyboard does not respond.

Have you checked the connections during the docking of the keyboard to make sure that they are aligned and course?

After return to 8.1 Windows do you have all your Windows updates?

Did you run HP Support Assistant for HP updates?

When it is connected if you check device manager is the recognized keyboard and if so is there any mistake about it?

My daughter turned on his laptop A30 last night and only 2 keys worked. Tried to restart and go into the BIOS but could not. Tried to start in safe mode, only the top and bottom of work therefore impossible to select Safe mode... doh. Guess it must be a harware issue.

Restarted in Xp an open upward Notepad... this time, about 5 keys working. Reboot, 3 keys etc etc.

How to cable Ribbon to make sure it is placed correctly. It is common for a keyboard to fail in this way and it is easy to get a replacement?
At the mo, have all the screws that I know, battery removed, DVD rom and hard drive. Seems to be held towards the middle and the back. Don't want to force and break something else!

    Hello

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the laptop?
    2. are you having the problem with the keyboard while using applications or with a particular application?
    3. were there any changes made on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:
Check the link and try to run the Troubleshooter:
Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

    Method 2:
If the problem persists I suggest to start the computer in Mode safe mode with network and check whether you are faced with the same question. If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode with networking you perform the clean boot to find what service or startup item is causing the problem.

    Step 1:
Start the computer using safe mode with networking.

    (a) remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.

    (b) If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.

    (c) you must press F8 before the Windows logo appears.

    (d) if the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    (e) on the screen Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to select the desired mode safe mode with networking option and press enter.

    (f) sign in your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

    Reference: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:
If the issue happen not in Mode safe mode with networking, try to set up your computer in a clean boot state and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 3:
I suggest you to use the keyboard on the screen and check if it works. You can check the links
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/type-without-using-the-keyboard-on-screen-keyboard

If you are able to type on the keyboard screen I would contact the manufacturer of your laptop for extra support.

    I hope this information helps!

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit for more than two years already. During these periods so far, whenever my laptop is idle for an hour or two, the keyboard and the touchpad suddenly stops working, without worrying if his operation on battery or AC.

What point particular I feel a harware problem? Maybe a software problem? Or maybe a defective model?

  • Numbers of wired keyboard has stopped working

I have a keyboard attached to a wired Macbook Pro Apple. The keyboard worked fine for a year apart from the occasional glitch when it stops working, I add an extension of cable and it starts working again.  However, all of a sudden the numbers on the keyboard at the top of the keyboard have stopped working (but - and = work). the keyboard on the right continue stop work very well.  I think the function keys work always.  Someone at - it ideas?  It's driving me crazy! Tried to restart and don't Scream - no luck so far.

Hello Lloyd C from the United Kingdom.

If I understand you right, the numbers on the wired Apple keyboard that you have connected to your MacBook Pro stopped working. We know that it's never ideal to have a device that does not work as expected, we are happy to help you get the keyboard to work again.

The first thing I would recommend, first and foremost, is to update your Mac if there are updates available for the version of Mac OS X, you're running. Follow the steps in the article to support below if you are not familiar with how to update. For the purposes of troubleshooting, whenever you test your keyboard after you follow the steps that we provide, make sure that it is while the keyboard is connected directly to the USB port built-in on your MacBook and not connected to a USB hub. In addition, disconnect all other devices you have plugged into your Mac, besides than the charging cable under test.

Update the software on your Mac

If the problem persists after the update, the next step would be to reset the system management controller (SMC). The MSC is a part inside your MacBook, who helps run various physical parts of your computer, and resetting can sometimes help the problems associated with the keyboard and USB functions. The support article below contains the steps on how to reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

Test the keyboard after that the MSC has been reset. If the problem persists, follow the steps in the "Steps to a USB keyboard" section in the following article:

If your USB keyboard or wireless does not work

Remember that it's always a possibility that the issue could be with the keyboard itself. If you continue to have problems with certain keys, try to connect the keyboard to a different Mac, if you manage to and see if you experience the same problems.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care!
