Re: How MK3252GSX of butterfly?

Hello

I bought a new 2.5 '' HDD (MK3252GSX) with a SATA external case., but you want to install it into my laptop, which has a SATA-1 (150 MB/s) controller.

If the drive works fine in the external enclosure, it blocks my laptop. After a few messages BIOS (setup / pass the boot order) I will get a screen empty, black.

I know, in theory all SATA-equipment compatible together, but reality is different ;-)

The manufacturer of the computer laptop may only said: use (original) compatible components! :-(

I found in several boards of Directors, boards of strangling the SATA-2 disks with rider or software to SATA-1 an all is well again.

Is there such a possibility for the mk3252gsx?

Kind regards

Hello

Cannot change the 2.5 hard drives jumper settings.
Laptops BIOS controls the settings.
There are therefore two possibilities why your HARD drive 2.5 external does not work.

First the HARD drive is not compatible with your laptop, and you must use a compatible.
Second possibility is that you include a SATA driver, because on the HDD SATA controller on the motherboard you.

I put t know how it works on your laptop but on my Toshiba laptop, I had to include the SATA driver in the Windows XP CD. This allowed to recognize the disk HARD of XP and to finish the installation of the OS.

But if your HARD drive is not recognized, but the BIOS the SATA driver will not help you and you will need to use a compatible HARD drive.

Good bye
