System starts but afer windows splash screen hangs.

OS: Windows Ultimate SP1

After restarting my PC, when disappears from windows boot screen the screen remains black with just the current cursor.  No other accurs activity. WAITING 10 minutes and tried again.

Produce the same results by starting in safe mode and commanf mode.

I ran the basic system of HP diagnostrics and received this error message.

Smart Check: spent

Long DST: failure

FAILURE ID: RGBRB9-00076C-9XPK1G-61CU03

Product ID: H2M99AA #ABA

HARD DRIVE 1

I then ran a chkdsk/r standalone and a chkdsk /f

The command chkdsk in both cases showed no errors have been detected except this message at the end of the chkdsk command

Transfer failed tp connected messages in the event log which is status 50

Note - using the windows Ultimate CD I loaded theSystem recovery tool (command prompt) Options.

I thought it strange that when I spent in C: then do a dir, there is no file present. I found files and a directory of windows on D:

My first thought on this is to replace the hard drive but the thought that maybe this type of error has occurred in the past and a resolution has been obtained without replacement hard drive.

Hello

Error code 24 characters for the (overall) Long drive self test would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the question of commissioning.

If your PC is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

Kind regards

  • Try to install Windows Vista. When the system starts, I get a black screen with no message and no prompt.

before starting up the plant, black screen

A friend gave me the laptop since they bought a new.  I tried to do a clean install of Windows Vista on a laptop Gateway P6831 FX.  After changing the boot order in the bios settings, the dvd starts to spin.  The only thing that appears on the screen is a screen black/Bank.  I'm never invited with the message 'Press any key to start the installation' to start copying the files for vista.

The Bios recognizes the hard drive (Sata).  I don't know what to do at this point.  Help, please.

I fixed it.  I looked at a few other responses in this forum and used the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows XP.  After that, I've upgraded to Vista.

  • Want to m6-1205dx: must press space or HP Splash Screen hangs it indefinitely

Strangest thing ever... A little background first. I had a VERY hard time getting this computer to perform a recovery to factory settings. After about 11 attempts of switching between active disk ordered from HP and the recovery discs, I've done the computer it FINALLY finished. (All other attempts, I got a message that says the recovery has failed and then had the option of three choices... something like "View Log" "Save Log"and "Try again") What I did that FINALLY let the recovery complete was to press space keyboard whenever the HP splash screen came. Then, the small white circles under the hp logo would begin to move and that she would go to the next part of the installation of the driver/software. Now, however, whenever I restart the computer I have TO press the space bar once or it crashes just on the hp splash screen. I did all THE updates of windows and all the updates via the HP website driver. The only additional software that I installed is Mozilla Firefox. I have reset BIOS default - Secure Boot back on since I had to disable to install with the disks. Little things like time & date are correct. I ran Diagnostics on all the material and it passes.

Help, please! I have never come across anything like this before and I'm at a loss on how to fix it!

Thank you for taking the time to answer!

Thanks for your reply, but I found a resolution. I discovered one of the keys 'f' on the line of the top of my keyboard did not work. Once I changed the keyboard to one another, everything worked as it should. No more hanging on the hp splash screen.

Original title: STARTUP DO NOT FULLY

Hi, I run windows XP Home Edition on my laptop, when I switch it on it boots until the windows logo and no more, can anyone help please.

I tried F11 to safemode etc but is still no more than the windows logo.

You must be repeatedly tapping / pressing the F8 key before Windows starts to load to access the Advanced Boot Options menu to see the Safe Mode options :)  Keep and tapped F8 until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.

If you miss the niche F8 and XP starts to load, you missed it, and you have to start over.

    Hello

I went and gave the phone to the dealer, he said, there is moisture inside the phone, and may be covered by its warranty dealer. 1 month before I used this phone in the pool water to take pictures, but it did not work, I had no problem, but the dealer said there is water inside.

However, device was returned to me, and then I went to service center, they opened the phone and just he removed the battery and plugged in the back. screen started and then gave a message please connect the phone to the PC, software update failed.

Then I connected the phone to the PC companion, made repair phone, everything went well and now the phone works fine.

I noticed now that the battery a little faster. I mean when I kept the phone in 96% charged, flight mode, no wifi, remained unused for the full night and morning I noticed battery drained a 86%, nearly 10% without any use. I don't know it's normal, but it empties so fast, even when the phone is in airplane mode, no wifi...

However, now the phone works... Thank you all.

If you are unable to boot normally, boot in safe mode (you never get there), boot on a disk (perhaps because the BIOS is not set to boot first from CD or it may not work even in this case),or even boot in the BIOS, then there is nothing we can do to help you.  If you can not even in the BIOS, the problem is beyond what we can try.  I suggest you contact Technical Support Toshibahttp://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp orhttp://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/navShell.jsp?cf=su_contact&pf=true to see if they can help or take the computer to a local computer repair shop known for diagnostic, repair or replacement.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows XP hangs at the splash screen, safe mode does not work either

I've updated my laptop with a windows update and when I went to restart, it crashes just in the start screen.  I tried in safe mode hanging at MUP. SYS and I tried the last known configuration.  So far these options do not work.  I tried Memtest, HDAT2, Ultimate Boot CD tests, chkdsk/p and chkdsk/r, Windows XP, CD recovery and rebuild, tried to start up with each opening of USB port and even tried formatting and installing Windows XP Pro SP2 and Windows XP Home Edition SP1.  So far I have always in step 1, where nothing has solved nothing.

I noticed that there is a thread here where a person has had the same problem and he said that it has updated its BIOS.  For hours, now I did research on how update my BIOS by creating a bootable disc...  I'm thumbs on a mile it looks. Here is a link to the thread with the person who had the same problem. http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/XPRepair/thread/2b3f344c-F923-4D84-868d-c0be603e601b

I've been on the forums of Toms Hardware for more than a week with a little support, but so far, nothing has worked. http://www.TomsHardware.com/Forum/253683-45-wont-load-hangs-splash-screen#t916360

I could use any help we can on it.  It would be deeply appreciated!  My email is * address email is removed from the privacy *.

Well I tried to Win 7 on a bootable disc.  I followed a bunch of instructions I found on youtube.com, but for some reason that I could not burn to disc.  Kept getting an error even if I followed every perfect step.

In any case, I watched my CMOS on compensation, but the battery is soldered on.  I just messed with it a little bit to see if it was lost or anything thing but I didn't rip out and one other solder on because I have never done this before.  So I put everything back together, turned on my laptop and it finally starts up the Windows installation screen.  FINALLY!  Thanks for everyone's help and patience.  I guess the battery has lost... but not quite sure.  I left the laptop off for about 4-5 days before I tried to play with the CMOS this morning.

Daavee, thanks for your help on this.  I learned all troubleshooting and making the ISO.  Have a good Christmas!

  • After Installation of Windows 7, it hangs at the splash screen

Original title: could not get windows 7 or Home server to install

There is a computer on which he worked.  Put in a new drive, because I wanted to reuse it as a home server.

Now, it will not install, tried Windows Home server and Windows 7, they all have two freeze at the same place.

    They both

    1. boot
    2. load files
    3. and then freeze to the windows splash screen.

    All of the suggestions.

    Thank you

    Jeff

    Hello Jeff_Myers,

    Thank you for the question!

It is disheartening to know that have problems you with Windows 7. As I understand it the computer crashes at start Windows after the Installation of Windows 7.

    Method 1:

Disconnect or disable any external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, sound card and graphics card etc.) except the mouse and keyboard and then boot\start the computer.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.

Method 2: Perform the Windows 7 installation disc Startup Repair by using the Windows recovery environment.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

Answer to us if you are having problems with Windows 7 or any other issue of Windows, and I'd be happy to help you again and try to correct the problem as soon as possible.

    Good day!

    Hope this information helps.

  • Windows XP splash screen vanishes

My desktop runs on Windows XP service pack 3. No recent new software.
For the last 2 days when I boot the Windows splash screen (black background) runs, and at the point where it would usually turn into blue background (welcome, loading settings...) the screen disappears completely. No option is possible except reboot or turn off.
Succeeded in getting going to start asking you to use the "last known good configuration".
Rather than continue with this as a routine, I did a system restore, restore a few days ago point was good.
