Re: Install Satellite P855-31V - Downgrade from Windows 7 and driver

I recently bought my first PC Toshiba laptop and after a few tries with W8, let it downgrade to the previous version, which I am owner of a valid license to the Pro edition.

I checked what wlan card I had installed (my PC "information" is below) and downloaded all of the 44 available support files.

I updated the bios to 6.50, load the values by default, changed the "secure starting" to disable and also changed the "boot mode" at the start of the csm. This allowed me to install W7.

I start to install the drivers: chipset, driver Intel, Intel Management Engine Interface, rapid storage technology driver and even more and that's when things start to get ugly--some drivers don't are not supported under W7, nvidia drivers do not recognize video card, to restart after installing some of drivers windows starts complaining and trying to fix things. A mess.

I smear the order to install it? If so, can anyone view the correct procedure? There are 44 files, some with names like 'Toshiba System Driver', 'register Patch'... I don't know when these install, as well as some other files do not have a description says.

If W7 may not work properly on this machine I'll have to upgrade W8 Pro (I need remote desktop) and will have one more time to install all the drivers, so it still takes the correct order to install drivers and utilities.

Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

I ve checked the Toshiba download page and I can find drivers, tools and utilities for Windows8 only.
Where you found 44 files for Win7?

All you can try is to use the Win7 drivers for old model with similar hardware platform.
The same chipset and graphics card has Satellite P850 (PSPKBE) and it was delivered with Win7.

Please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite A200-1AD - downgrade from Windows XP Home edition

I've read all the other different threads around the upgrade/downgrade to XP, but I have a few questions.

    1. What do I need to change the BIOS before I start to replace Vista by XP or can I wait until I loaded the base XP and then make the BIOS change?

    2. If I try and update the BIOS for XP and it crunches the laptop is covered by the warranty?

If the 2 answer is Yes, then I'll save a step by step process that I do to change the operating system from Vista to XP. Any help much appreciated.

    Hello Ken

All I know is some BIOS designed for Windows XP Home edition for computer series laptop Satellite A200. I installed Windows XP Home edition on my A200 but some FN keys do not work properly. Other stuff works well and WXP turns quite quickly.

I recommend installing WXP without updated BIOS to see if there is a serious problem. If this is not the case, leave such BIOS what.

    Hi djxxx,

What blue screen, you get exactly?
Generally speaking, it of not necessary to format the HARD drive first because this can be done from the XP installation disk.

I guess it has something to do with the SATA option in BIOS you should replace AHCI Compatible.

  • Downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows Vista

    Hello

I want to ask something about the downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows Vista Edition Home Premium!

My laptop is Satellite L510. When I bought it, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium as its OS so I already created a recovery disk.
Now, if I update to Windows 7 and if I want to downgrade to window Vista... often I just use this recovery disc to format to Windows Vista everything as before?

Because they do not have the Windows Vista installation disk when I bought this laptop.
And I want to ask now the window Vista already got a healthy recovery partition in my right HDdrive? If I update to Windows 7 then did the Window Vista healthy recovery partition is still there, or only the restore disc that I create before you reformat Windows Vista Home Premium box?

Thanks to all who try to answer my question!

All new laptops are shipped without DVD upgraders and everyone must create one. This is why Toshiba has designed small Creator called Toshiba Recovery tool. With this tool you can create recovery DVDs and use them for the installation of the OS more far.

Whenever when you use, you'll have to factory settings and it will be like on the first day when launch you for the first time.

When you have this recovery media, you can do whatever you want and, of course, install Win7 with HARD drive. One day, when you want to have Vista again just use created recovery DVD and you will have factory again.

When you bought your laptop recovery image was recorded on the second partition of HARD drive in the folder called HDDRecovery. This image can be used to install Vista with the factory only settings. When you install Win7 these files can no longer be used and Vista must be installed from recovery created DVDs.

Updated updated post by HP to 12/11/2012 9:30 am PT time

    Question:

Can I downgrade from Windows 8 for Windows 7?

    Answer:

Yes, customers can downgrade to Windows 7, but Microsoft has different terms for the users and the railways downgrade rights.  HP recommends clients check with Microsoft for the conditions of their specific operating system edition.

Customers who are able to choose to downgrade their products compatible HP Windows-8 for Windows 7 will remain protected by guarantees of HP products. However, HP has not tested all platforms of Windows 8 for Windows 7, and we are unable to have your special drivers available. If you choose to install another operating system (OS) and have a problem requiring support of HP, you may need to restore the original operating system to fully diagnose your problem.  Please check with HP Customer Service for any question about your specific product.

  • Can I downgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows XP Professional

QUESTIONS: 1) can I demote a machine Win7 Starter purchased through package of retail full license, never installed, XP Pro OS?  Assume that both are 32-bit.  I was thinking of buying one of these netbooks cheap in Walmart stores that are Windows 7 upgrade option to Windows 8 (which I do not wish to use), and experiment.  If Win7 is proving to be as disastrous as I wait, I want to install a new copy of the new detail of full XP Pro including Service Pack 3 (which has never been installed on any computer), to downgrade from Windows 7. I've never used in triplicate.
The machine is Acer Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter edition, on sale at Walmart for only $228.  They have other editions of Windows, I could buy instead, if the Starter Edition is not eligible for a downgrade.
    2) do you anticipate problems of license?  Do not talk about compatibility, as that varies depending on the machine.  It's just that the installation with MS products is always also annoying complicated and always associated with a licensing problem.  I can't guess at what these problems are, they are never what I expect.  Where the question.
Backstory: I am wary of XP Professional updating to Windows 7, due to the many people experience incompatibilities.  I ran the Win7 Upgrade Advisor, and he has not yet detected what third-party software was running on my machine in his analysis, other than common programs of MS and stuff from the internet.  So I have ZERO faith it will be compatible with my XP software current and material, so 32-bit (which I use now), or 64-bit (which one of my machines can take in charge, but instead, 32-bit XP Prof OS is installed and running).
It cost me about $100K of my time to switch to XP, in 2005; I just went through two own XP installed on two of my other machines.  Recovery was not possible.  Cost me three months of my life, these facilities.  Wouldn't do it again.  It is unnecessarily complex.
So I have to check the effectiveness of Win7.  And if she is not enough justify using, as I hope - I have a lot of detail that new (well, once again) never used XP Professional OS bought in a store, that I can use to downgrade.  ("not OEM, not upgrade or academic, etc. so the full XP license is valid for each packet.)  I understand very well that support ends in April 2014 and don't care if it stops.  What I care about is running my business that threatens to Win7, because it changes the interface and eliminates a bunch of features that have been very productive in XP Pro.
Of course, my impressions have not been tested on a live installation.  ERGO this post.  For me, it's a $100,000 decision, because it is the cost of my time if I deploy Win7.  Sorry for ranting, but I need to explain the reasons for downgrading in context.  Thank you for your time!

I guess I do not understand you. If you have a version of Xp retail packaging, you can install it on any computer you want. Nothing MS or anyone else can say about it.

As others have noted you might encounter a driver for some of your hardware problem is not not compatible wth Xp. The only way to know for sure, or I should say the best way, is to install Xp and discover.

If it was me I would make sure that the computer has a restore disk or a partition to reinstall Win 7 if Xp didn't work. If none of those who were present I would clone the drive hard while Win 7 was still about this. Better safe than sorry.

Finally, I would make sure that I got a usb Ethernet card so that you could make sure you have the ability to connect when the net card driver was not installed with Xp...
