Re: Satellite PRO 4600 and WLAN driver

My old Satellite Pro 4600 connects with networks wireless unsecured very well but has a problem with WEP - Gets an error message immediately to connect command, never reaches the authentication dialog.

I would try to update the drivers of wifi card, but where can I find them? This site does not recognize not my serial number.

Can someone please?

Thank you.

-Kari-

This along with the serial number reorganization probably works with new laptops only.
Go directly to the download section Toshiba > http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and under archive try to find your model of laptop and WLAN driver.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 and WiFi configuration problem

Got a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600, under WXP SP3. It s a P3 900 mhz with 256 RAM and it s a great laptop, but peut t seem to understand the Wi - Fi.
It captures my router ok sky open a Wi - Fi connection, but it s the config, when I put the WEP key it says it is not compatible with WEP, WPA only s.

I put the ssid for the router ok but it won t accept the key/passphrase in there it says s not long enough.
Could someone point me in the direction of a guide of idiots for this configuration?
Wi - Fi is built-in and it s a Toshiba mini PCI
    Thank you

    Hello

    For me the case sounds very clear;
You can't put the encryption key just because the WEP key is not compatible / supported.

I think you should use encryption that is supported by both parties; router and wireless network card

I think that the laptop supports Atheros 11 b/g wireless network card, so you will need to install the Atheros Wlan driver.

  • Satellite Pro L10 and WLAN connection

One of my clients claims that the wireless connection is not displayed in fact at all and he now believes that there is no wireless connection.

The L10 was problems with does not appear before wireless connection?

And if so is it possible to fix it.

    Hi Graham

It will be interesting to know what model of Satellite has your customer (L10 - xxx). It is possible that the device has no wireless network card onboard. Please check the underside of the laptop. Usually, there must be a small label WLAN.

If the device has a wireless network card which should also be listed in the device under network adapters Manager.

Called in support of the Toshiba Australia, who says "XP never came out for this model" I was unable to convince the guy to be liberated because I have records of origin with Toshiba written on them and I installed these drives XP image earlier this year. (Yes, it came with Vista pre installed but it also came with the downgrade image discs).

He suggested that I needed a thing called "Toshiba Value added Package".
I only found on downloads for U300 and XP OS.

    What to do next.

    Ideas and suggestions welcome.

Can you please send us model mobile exact so that we can check the specifications of the laptop and see if this model is supported for Windows XP Home edition. If so, all the drivers for Windows XP Home edition must be available on the Toshiba support page to THE.

See also document s user manuals. There you should find the table with all the resolutions supported for external displays.

By the way: Toshiba value added is designed for Vista and Win7. It doesn t exist for Windows XP Home edition. On Toshiba WXP specific software works on another way. .

  • WLAN for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello

I installed the recovery disk (Windows 2000) for my Satellite Pro 4600 but WIFI could not be started.
The software "Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager" says that there is no wireless network card-driver.
I do not see a "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card", only a "Intel (r) PRO/100VE Network Connection" to the hardware Manager card. But there is also a "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER" - device. The WLAN driver does not fit.
The Notebookhardware has not been changed then what is it?

Please help me fix this problem.

    Thank you
    Stefan

    Hello

If you use original recovery CD for the installation of the OS (SP4600 only) all hardware components must be installed correctly. Before we do that any external devices should be deleted (USB keys, printer or PCMCIA card). If the wireless card is displayed correctly under NICs without yellow exclamation, I guess that the wireless network card is installed correctly.

Driver Toshiba designed for WLAN should be used for INTEL adapters. I really can't understand why you use the same driver for the PCMCIA unknown device.

In my opinion, you should check the download from Toshiba site and try reinstalling the chipset utility. Please don t forget to disable the WLAN Windows option if you want to use the WLAN client.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - what is the maximum size of HARD drive?

My age Satellite Pro 4600 has a 20 GB HARD drive. These are now very difficult to obtain, does anyone know if superior capacy HDDs can be used and, if so, what is the maximum size of the HARD drive.

(Despite his age that I always use the Satellite Pro for some jobs).

    Hello John

Satellite Pro 4600 is old enough for laptop and it is not easy to find the exact info. The fact is that this laptop comes with 10 and 20 GB hard drives.
My opinion is that you can use 30 or even 40 GB HDD. I think that 30 GB new HARD drive should be enough for your some jobs.

    What do you think?

  • Satellite Pro 4600 very unstable and BSOD

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 c750/128 with xp installed.
It was ok, but slow, so I've updated at 500 MB of memory.

He now became unstable under windows and throw a screen blue after awhile, which is a related, but firm and we will restart until I have a chance to read the error message.

I tested the new memory from one day to the next with memtest and run 4 passes all tests without error, about 9 hours of operation (on the back).

The event log indicates a discharge, but this does not mean a lot to me.
The event log has an error during startup, what was there before the memory upgrade.
Googling Sugest a fix to update the bios, it's always available for this laptop bios?

The BIOS should be available for this former Satellite Pro 4600.
The BIOS and drivers must be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.
Here, you will need to search the Archives!

But I doubt that the error is caused by the BIOS.
Is the laptop ran stable also with the previous BIOS and it foolish to update the BIOS to fix this problem.
I'm sure it won't change anything!

Upgrade the RAM and BSOD appears now.
I think that the problem is related to the RAM, even if the ram test didn't find any errors
The RAM may be not compatible also if no error has been detected.

I recommend that you test the laptop without the new RAM and check if the BSOD will appear again.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - installing the Audio driver for Win98 SE

    Hi all

    I m new here.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 abandoned and I put Win98 SE edition on it.

The problem I have is I can download the audio driver, but when it comes for her, he asks me a yahama cd that installs, I think its 4 or 5 drivers from the cd. I currently do not have this cd so I was wondering how to get around this problem.

    Thank you for reading

    Tony

    Hello

I found the Win 98SE driver sound for the Satellite Pro 4600 on the European driver Toshiba page.
You have to look in the folder to ARCHIVE.

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

    He choose: * Archives-> Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 46xx-> Satellite Pro 4600-> Win 98SE *.

In addition to information of Yamaha audio driver, you can find these details:
+ A wide range of audio controls are possible using this audio driver, including: Software Synthesizer, the microphone volume, 3D development and management Power +.

So I think that this driver should help you!

  • New DVD drive not recognized on my Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all

I recently bought an engraver of DVD in NEC ND-6650 nine.
This drive is NOT recognized by my Satellite Pro 4600 at all - neither Windows 2000 nor in the BIOS (v 2.60). BIOS updates higher than the 2.60 version are not provided.
Does that mean I can forget about using the new writer in my old notebook?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Nils

    Hi Nils,

I suspect that your new drive may be not be compatible with your laptop. Like all scanners to your new drive will be configured as slave or master (or CSEL possible), and this configuration should match your laptop.

Usually your hard drive is configured as master on IDE channel 0 with optical drive is the slave on the same channel device. However, you may find that your optical drive is configured as master on the IDE 1 channel.

Normally the setting is preconfigured by the manufacturer so you will need to check both the conficuration of your new drive and the configuration of your original drive to make sure they are the same.

    Kind regards
