Re: Satellite U400-145: no option to select HDMI as HDMI output default

Hello

I followed the instructions in the manual its leader to the topic on the HDMI output.
However, when I go to the sound control panel, there is no digital output device (HDMI) listed only the Conexant Chairman and SPDIF outputs.
I tried the default SPDIF output, which did not work.
The HDMI works fine for the image, but the absence of the sound through it is driving me crazy.

I'm running VISTA (fully updated) on a U400-145

Someone at - it ideas how I can get the HDMI to appear as an output option?

Andy

Hello

Go to the control panel-> Sound-> playback tab
There, you have to click to the right.
Then mark the options; Show all disabled devices
Then you should see the HDMI interface.
Now, you could activate and chose as the default value.

Welcome them

  • Satellite P50-B-103 - to connect my HDMI output on a VGA monitor

    Hi all

I just bought a satellite * P50-B-103 *, which has a HDMI output and I want to connect it to an external VGA monitor.

I thought that I just need to buy a HDMI - VGA Converter, but the buyer was told that Toshiba, unless this model, is not ready to connect to a VGA monitor, although I use a converter.

Is it true or I can connect my laptop to the vga monitor using the converter?

    Thanks in advance,

    Charly

It remains that HDMI provides digital signal and analog support port VGA (RGB) signal.

To be honest, I read a lot of articles on these adapters and converters, but in many cases, these converters are useless.

So it s no matter if your laptop was manufactured by Toshiba or another manufacturer.
ITSA the question of the standard of caught signals supported by each port.

I have a new Satellite U500-176 but impossible to get the HDMI to work on a TV or monitor.

Usually, when the monitor is connected and I press Fn + F5 I get only the 1 option (LCD).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Hmm, what operating system are you using?
Was - this operating system preinstalled by Toshiba?

Please take a look in the BIOS. There should be HDMI settings. Please check if it is enabled.
In addition, I would recommend checking the graphics card driver update.

What version of BIOS you are using the most recent?

Is it possible to install a different graphics card that came with the laptop? (AMD Radeon HD 7520G) I'd like one that allows me to connect two HDMI screens that extend, rather than duplicate.

What am I looking for and it is possible to install myself?

Thanks in advance for the advice,

    > Is it possible to install a different graphics card that came with the laptop?
No, it is not possible to replace or update the graphics card.

    > I'd like one that allows me to connect two HDMI screens that extend, rather than duplicate.

I recommend to use an external device, for example a * Dynadock * which would allow you to use additional external monitors.

  • Satellite L500-131, an HDMI output to the audio amplifier

    Hello

I can't the sound of my Satellite L500-131 HDMI port to my Pioneer amp supposed to be designed to manage these tings...

Think the problem is in the early stages as I * don't * select "Realtek HDMI output" as default + output + option is not available.
Playing around, I managed to get to an old Microsoft driver hidden in memory somewhere and could select HDMI output 'default' through the laptop speakers. But ultimately this ddn can't get sound through either, well that the volume to "sound board" control of Vista indicates activity signal (bars during playback of DVD)... :|

No idea what is the problem? By selecting "Output HDMI" audio output by default seems to be a Solver for everyone, but it's the only option that is not left in me, so frustrating... :|

Thank you very much for any help provided.

    Hello

To be honest I often use HDMI connection on my laptop but I never had any problems with this connection. Everything is working properly and even I checked again all works well!

Anyway, in your case, I'll try reinstalling the audio driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site.

If you use the HDMI connection, connect the cable first. Then turn on your TV or your amplifier and finally the laptop.
    Check it!

  • Satellite U400 - cannot find HARD drive recovery option

I'm doing a full recovery from the computer by using the HARD drive recovery procedure, but the problem that I can not find the entrance (to fix your computer) when I press F8 after you restart the computer.

My laptop is: Toshiba Satellite U400-144

    Hello

Normally, you can start the drive HARD recovery function if you press the F8 key to go into the advanced boot menu. After that, select Repair my computer and in the next window, you can choose the option of Toshiba HARD drive recovery.

By the way: which OS you have installed right now? HARD drive recovery is possible on a preinstalled OS to Toshiba!

  • Satellite U400 - S00 Wireless connection problem

I have a Satellite U400, which was lowered to XP Business.
Wireless networking seems to work only intermittently.
I can see several netoworks available and that you have selected the office, wireless access Point to connect automatically. It is the only network that I listed for to connect you.

The laptop often fails to connect the access point, often trying to connect to another nearby wireless device unsecured.
If I manually select the office network and click 'Connect', it asks for the key wireless (I have enter) and then it connects briefly, gets an IP via DHCP and disconnects quickly about 10 seconds later.

If I repeat the reconnection attempts, sometimes I am able to keep the connection for several hours, but if I stop and restart I have to repeat the same procedure. I downloaded what I think is the most up-to-date intel wireless drivers, but I would appreciate a pointer to the most recent.

I'm not using the ConfigFree, just the menu of Windows Wireless configuration base (Zeroconf service)

This is driving me crazy. Help, please.

    Hello

I found this thread and I would like to my experience with the U400.
Yes, I have a U400 and I installed Win XP Pro.
I have an Intel WLan card and I already updated the driver WLan to the State.

    I found new drivers here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

I must say that my WiFi works without problem! I have the latest version of the BIOS and I never noticed any problems.

I must also say that I have don t use tools of any additional WLan configuration but ONLY options specific to Windows and its ok.
I have disabled the Intel ProSet utility Msconfig and it does not load at the beginning.

I have configured my OS and laptop computer ONLY connects to my wireless private network.
Of course if my private Wlan is not available it automatically connects to a WLan unsafe in my range.

  • Wireless does not work on my Satellite U400/03 s

    Hi guys,.

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite U400/03 and I have a very strange problem that I can't seem to move.

I registered new connection ADSL2 + and yesterday, when I tried to configure it upward, I found that the I can connect to the internet by cable but not wireless.

The laptop shows the network in the list with the full signal strength. I configured the connection properties identical to my laptop including the WEP key and such. When I go to connect to the network, it is fair and says "Waiting for network ' for about 5 minutes, then this dialog box disappears and never connects to the network, just goes back to the network selection screen.

Someone had this problem? If so how were you dealing with the repair? It of very frustrating and played with the router and computer options for hours now trying to make it work properly with no luck.

Just to let you know guys I use Billion BiPAC 5200 G Router wireless RC and windows XP pro on my laptop.

Help please! Thanks in advance to all those who respond.

    Sam

It's not easy help on this path, and I advise you to call your internet provider and ask for help. On the phone, they can help you with all of the settings of the router and you can be sure that everything is done correctly.

In General, the entire WLAN configuration is simply. As a first step, you can disable the security option for WLAN and short check if WLAN works without WEP or WPA/WPA2.

  • Satellite U400 chess backlit

The backlight on my Satellite U400 guard failed. If I close the lid and open again once it comes back for a few seconds and then fails again UNLESS the power cord is out and the laptop running on battery power at which case it acts normally.

I changed the inverter. Any other ideas?

    > UNLESS power cord is out and the laptop running on battery power, in which case it is normally.

Did you check if the key Fn + F6 and Fn F7 combination would increase and the brightness of the screen?

Please check if the brightness of the screen can be changed using these buttons then the FL inverter should be ok and the problem could be linked to the Win7 power management setting.

If the problem is related to power management settings, then I would recommend this change.

    * Go to control panel-> power-> Settings Options * change Plan

Here you can adjust the brightness of plan
You can set this separately for the use of the battery or AC mode

  • TPSMain.exe does not start on Satellite U400 - 14 p PSU44E running Win XP

    Hello

    I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on my U400 PSU44E - 14 p.
I found all the drivers on the official website of Toshiba (thank you) but one in the origin of the problems: TPSMain.exe does not start when I start the computer.

Once I type my password and login, I hear a typical Windows error sound, but no message is displayed. I noticed that when you try to start the Toshiba Power Saver utility from the Control Panel, I got an error message telling me that I have enough privileges to run this utility...

    I am the administrator!

If you guys encountered the same problem and got a hint of trouble, feel free to post here. THX.

I have a Toshiba Satellite U400 and I installed Win XP too.
I have a user account administrator and Toshiba Power Saver works properly!
No problem don't like on your system!

However, in the Toshiba Power Saver Settings (installation options), you can find the option called limited allows the user to change the settings and allow different actions for each profile.

    Check that both are enabled!

If this doesn't help then reinstalling again this tool.

  • Satellite U400 - 112 (PSU40E) - Safe BIOS upgrade - SOLUTION

    Dear all,

Trying since long upgrade for the bios of my laptop favorite... Toshiba Satellite U400-112 (PSU40E)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) English and BIOS version 4.00(until yesterday).
The problem was that, in windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), the tool flash never started the process of update due to several incompatibilities.
There is a solution (in fact a workaround solution) to be honest and works 100%!

    My solution is:

    (A) download the latest bios upgrade version appropriate for your laptop, save it (tomake it is easier in the root of the C:\ drive) and unpack it in a temporary folder (for example: bios).

    (B) use the Hiren's Boot CD a real support from a USB or CD (download and burn a CD or follow the process of CD copy on a USB key).

    (C) boot the laptop from the CD or USB flash and in Hiren's Boot Menu, select the version of mini Windows XP.

    (D) allow completely Windows XP startup and then run the tool to update the bios flash from the temporary folder. The update procedure make it exactly as it is described in the manual of the bios update. (If you are not experienced)

    (E) it will update the bios, and then he stops himself. Then you can start normally your operating system, remove any CD or USB key mounted on it.

I hope you find it helpful and convenient.

    Best regards

    Ioannis

To be honest I updated the BIOS on my U400 (running Win 7 32 bit), A210 (Vista) and Tecra A10 (Win 7 64 bit) using the victory as the BIOS version and never had any problems in running the tool
