RE: What models of Dell supported AHCI and FILLING for SSD?

NOUSERNAME

Hi Jonathan:

..... Specifically, I wonder if a workstation Dell Precision T3600 can do justice to an SSD.

Anyone? The motherboard on a Precision T3500 or precision T3600 does support AHCI?

TIA

Yes.

T3600 - AHCI is the SATA Operation (page 41 of the manual) setting.

T3500 - Info is not in the manual, but the T3500 should have a RAID AutoDetect / AHCI setting in BIOS under Operation SATA.

  • Compaq CQ58 - 299EV model of updated video card and driver for win7 64 bit and ram upgrade

    Hello

    Since I was my compaq laptop (about a year), it was windows 7 64 bit operating system inside, even if the manual was for windows 8. So, when I looked up initially for up-to-date drivers I couldn't find support for win8, but I chose not to because I saw tons of compatibility issues with this model of laptop. Well I don't want to update soon, so I would like to know what are the latest drivers I can find for my model for win7 64-bit.

    So, what model of video card has it built in (it just says: "Intel(r) HD Graphics"), so I can find the right drivers for it?
    Also can I put my ram? There are now 2 GB.

    Thanks in advance.

    Since it is a Celeron processor it comes:

    Intel HD Graphics (on models with Intel Pentium or Celeron processor; supports DirectX 10)

    They don't give him a number. The processor is based on the Sandy Bridge architecture, so any driver for the video card HD 3000 series will work.

    Latest version of the Intel driver

    This can take up to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM, like this:

  • Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower - for SSD Samsung 850 Evo BIOS settings

    Hi - I am looking to replace the HARD drive in my Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower with a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.  I am running the BIOS 1.0.16 and do not see the option AHCI, RAID or IDE only.  Should what BIOS settings I use to optimize the performance of an SSD benefits?

    Thanks in advance for the help!

    I could get my SSD working under RAID (10 Windows) with the following steps (which some may not be necessary).

    1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9 CD to clone a copy of the existing for the Samsung SSD HDD (Samsung data migration tool did not acknowledge the Samsung SSD on Windows 10, even though Device Manager it identified as such).  It took nearly 36 hours to clone froma 160 GB 250 GB HDD to the SSD.
    2. Replace HDD with SSD and it started / worked as an IDE drive.  TRIM has been activated and works.
    3. Apply the hotfix to the register noted in the first post of this thread (it may or may not be necessary):
      1. http://forums.HEXUS.NET/motherboards/112584-how-enable-AHCI-RAID-mode-without-reinstalling-Windows-P35-ICH9-ICH9R.html
    4. Downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.0.1017 A00 (which is appropriate for the Vostro 200 Slim Tower) from the Dell Web site and run the extracted exe file on the disk.
    5. Opens the folder where the drivers have been extracted and made a right click > install iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files.
    6. Restarted the PC, went into the BIOS and changed the IDE in RAID mode.
    7. When the system is booted, I received the message "Inaccessible Boot Device", so I let the system automatically restarts, go through the automatic recovery/repair options, then follow the guests to launch the advanced Windows options recovery to start in safe mode.
    8. Once in safe mode, I opened the Device Manager, which now showed the following new features:
      1. Disc players

        1. SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 500G
      2. Storage controllers
        1. Intel(r) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
        2. Microsoft storage controller
    9. The system is then able to start and be used normally.
    10. There are still problems with the Samsung Wizard software, but it seems that it is a matter of Samsung.

    Hope this is useful to someone.

  • What models of Macbook support speed Gigabit Internet BOTH wired (fine thunderbolt adapter) AND wifi (specs are unclear and inconsistent)?

    I have just upgraded to 1 GB fiber Internet - YAY - only to learn that my laptop current cannot go more than 100 MB - BOO. He is not old and not cheap, so, Goodbye Windows, Mac Hello! (A move on to the next purchase even when I use Macs for work).

    In comparing the Macbook models, I can't figure out those who support the TWO Gigabit speed when wired (adapter thunderbolt is fine if caught gigabit supported by the machine) AND Gigabit WiFi. I saw a spec that says 801n gigabit and 801ac was not, which I thought was the opposite of reality, so I do not trust the sheets, and I really not trust sellers to know this information.

    Models to consider:

    -Only current/new models, so no worries for older

    -The Macbook Air and models so no worries for the Macbook Pro,

    Help!

    Thank you

    All of the current models. However the computers laptop wil need an adapter to provide an Ethernet connection. Apple USB it is not adequate, it isn't Gigabit Ethernet.

  • Support webcam and touchpad for G530

    So, as I went through the drivers listed on the lenovo Web site, I noticed that there is no support for either the webcam and the touchpad. I have a basic use of the touchpad, but cannot use the scrolling features, and I can't seem to access my webcam otherwise but Skype.

    I just upgraded from XP and maybe that I can't find a way to solve this problem, but it seems there is only support for video, audio and internet connection with this computer, no small things such as the veriface software or easy camera, and it sucks.

  • Size of the disk Dell R730 RAID5 and C for Windows OS

    I bought Dell R730 server with 1.2 x 4 HDD to.

    It comes with RAID 5 fault with two logical volumes, 1.8 & 1.3 to each. When I install Windows 2008 R2 operating system, I have two partitions C 1.9 TB with D = 1.6 TB

    Why this raid is defined this way? Is it possible for me to destroy the default raid and set a new raid5 like 1.4 TB x 4 HARD drive as a single raid volume?

    Hello

    Yes, you can delete the virtual disks in the controller and create a large virtual drive. In the system configuration, make sure it is set to UEFI boot and not the BIOS boot mode. It is necessary to boot a plu virtual disk of 2 TB.

  • What is the difference between redundancy and recovery for retention window?

    Hi all

    I'm still trying to get a grip on this concept of planning RMAN backup.

    I recently came across a situation like this.

    I have backups on a redundancy of 1.

    I have instance1, who had a job of GRID to run backups RMAN as follows

    Database incremental level = 0 a week at sea at 02:30
    I have backups daily, incremental level = 1 every night
    I have backups of the log of the archives through the day.

    What happened, was apparently on a TUE some time, the development team remove data in almost all of the tables in the schema.
    The this didn't discover until noon or so on Wednesday.

    I went to try to restore... and RMAN could not do. I had found a SNA for early TUES, they did... but I got the following error:

    RMAN > RUN
    2 > {}
    3 > SET up to this THAT SNA 4590383198282.
    4 > RESTORE database;
    5 > RECOVER DATABASE;
    {6 >}

    executing command: SET until clause

    From restoration to the 28 April 10
    allocated channel: ORA_SBT_TAPE_1
    channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1: SID = 639 device type = SBT_TAPE
    channel ORA_SBT_TAPE_1: NMO v4.5.0.0
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: SID = 638 type device = DISK

    File number of the data file = 1 name=+DATADG/instance1/datafile/system.284.697137287
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: = ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =.
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03002: failure of the command restore at 2010-04-28 15:53
    ORA-01180: cannot create the data file 1
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '+ DATADG/instance1/datafile/system.284.697137287 '.

    What I did... of research, it seems that since I don't have a level 0 incremental of before, he could not reset the database in time. Precedent has been removed since, I guess I had a redundancy of 1.

    So, I thought that I had a week of backup they way I put it... but that assumes that the errors are found fairly quickly before the next level = 0 backup.

    I want at least 1 to 1.5 weeks of worth of backups. I have the problem that we do have many tapes in rotation, so I can't go because too long..may 2 x weeks at the top.

    I'm revising my strategy, but I am confused that I read about the difference between retention RMAN setting with window of recovery / redundancy.

    Can someone give me an explanation how do you understand? I read on the web and in books to oracle, and for some reason, it is not clear to me what is the best way to go... especially when I see this window of redundancy and recovery can affect?

    Thank you in advance,

    Cayenne

    Redundancy = 1 means rman will mark any more old than the backup of the last full or incremental backup of level 0 as obsolete. So it is very likely that the backup that you need for this restore has been removed after work Wednesday morning.

    The recovery window will tell rman to keep (or not obsolete brand) all necessary backups to restore to any point in time in the recovery window.

  • What is the difference between "stop" and "suspend" for the deployment of the procedure?

    I'm running corrective plans and want to be able to suspend the proceedings and resume later.  I "stop" or "suspend"?

    Yes - the docs is misleading, I'll file a bug with the doc on this one here.  Stop cannot be resumed. Only suspend.  Thanks for the comments.

  • Volume FAT32 host does support NTFS and EXT3 for virtual machines?

    Hello

    I am using windows 2000 server by using FAT32 and install VMware workstation on it. I want to install windows XP (volume must be FAT32), windows 2003 Server (the Volume must be NTFS) and my last guest OS is Red Hat Linux 9 (Volume should be ext3).

    My basic volume is FAT 32. It is possible to use all the guest OS using FAT32 volume base virual?

    Thank you

    mypass

    Yes you can, but you need to keep your virtual drives in the same folder... Thus, for example:

    Equip your drive C file c:\Virtual Machines\WinXP\

    and the D drive in the d:\WinXP-Data\ folder
