The only version of Windows, you can upgrade from XP is Vista. If you
want to go to the 7, 8, 8.1, or 10, you must do a clean install,
not an upgrade.Note also that if you old computer same peut run a later version, the
the material on your XP - era machine is probably way underpowered to run a
newer version with acceptable performance. So moving to a later
version is not a good idea. And another point: If you upgrade to a later version, you may need
drivers for it are not available. So before you do anything check
availability of the reader on the Dell web site.Mr. Ken Blake, thank you very much for your quick response. I understand the concerns regarding an upgrade. So I continue to run the same Windows XP with SP3 until the machine functions
Thank you very much
You are welcome. Happy to help you.

Hello
In addition to the advice given by Jose Antonio Ponton Posada CEO, you can also have a look at the response of Shenan Stanley on 20 October 2012 in this thread.
As Tommy mentioned, you can download and it save on the same computer. You can also download the Service Pack on a different computer and transfer to install it on the requested computer.
Do not respond if you have any other questions. Thank you.

Windows XP SP3 - Outlook Express receives and sends messages, but do not delete received messages. Can you help?
You have corruption of dbx files.Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View. With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.Compact all folders as described below. To avoid this in the future:Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Windows XP, no matter what service pack level that is the case, is NT 5.1.
The only exception is 64-bit Windows XP, which is NT 5.2

Firefox supports Windows XP SP3?
Now that we are in April 2015, Will Firefox provide some updates and fixes for Windows XP SP3 users? Google made Chrome support XP until April 2015, I cannot afford to buy a new computer and am looking for a new browser for my Windows XP SP3 laptop.
Firefox is safe for the WinXP, using the same code in future versions of WIndows use, but because Windows XP does not receive security patches that Firefox is also safe that WinXP is safe. Slippery slope when you use an EOL operating system - and the web browser will not "fix" gaps with WinXP as well as's safety.

Satellite A100 WIndows XP SP3 - Corrupted registry?
Toshiba Satellite A100 WIndows XP SP3.
A few days ago I noticed that windows update has stopped working and I had network problems. New research has shown that the BITS service did not start and other services such as DCOM did not begin. Fix - It of MS failed with the error code 7255. I tracked the issue to a possible Trojan horse as the registry keys had been renamed % fystemroot %. I've edited the keys to any %, according to online tips and delivered to market successfully. This has not fixed the BITS issue but more googling suggested that I needed a parameters key that included the Systemdll=%systemroot%\windows32\qmgr.dll value in the BIT key in HKLM system.
I added this, but now when machine re boots I get a partial screen, no task bar, I can perform certain tasks by CTRL-ALT-DEL and the functioning of the Task Manager. I tried to cancel the changes by running regedit, but it does not work. None of the user accounts, even in the CMD has access to most of the services or the directories.
I have the Toshiba repair disk but it seems to want to do a complete re-install XP, while I have backups, it would be my last option because I still have to lose data.
MS KB307545 says not to use on install OEM (I have a full version of XP SP2 I could boot from it) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 but did not say what you need to do.
By pressing F8 during does not start safe mode and I can not find a mechanism beginning a system restore. I should have one from last Tuesday.

Windows XP sp3 on a dell inspiron 1000 laptop siezes place completely after the launch of firefox 5.0.
Ive always had the same configuration and update of firefox I'll.The "silver bullet" is to disable out-of-process-plugins, that could cause Firefox to crash instead of only the process that causes a problem.

I bought a hp2000 2d49tu laptop and I want to install windows xp sp3 as my os.how can I get the drivers needed to install
This is the factory original specifications for laptop HP 2000-2d49TU. According to the specification, this model left the factory with FreeDOS installed. This page HP 2000 - 2d49TU Notebook PC drivers for your computer. HP is only provide drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 for this model. You will need to source drivers from other locations.
Your computer can also support 'Secure Boot' and 'Legacy Support' that can impede your attempts to install an earlier operating system. Installing XP on this computer will be a little a lot of effort and not all material can be fully compatible with XP. You must ENABLE "Secure Boot" and "Legacy Support" install Windows XP.
Thanks to Paul_Tikkanen and Daniel_Potyrala.
You will need to integrate the following Intel SATA AHCI drivers into a Windows XP disk. Second file is for XP 32 bit.
Please see post by Daniel for instruction on how to do it. You must read the Intel section, and then follow the instructions on the downloadable document to integrate all the drivers. This way you are sure to get the right one.
If you have a USB FDD, you can also extract the drivers of Intel 32 bit above to a floppy drive, success of the F6 key when it asks if you need to install a SATA/RAID driver and use the arrow keys to scroll and select the driver SATA AHCI specific required for the model which is the Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.
After XP is installed, you can try the XP Pro of the 4540 drivers of HP Probook.
You will need to get the card directly reader driver from Realtek, like the 4540 s has a different model card reader. Please download "Realtek Card Reader verification Tool" to determine what card reader is installed on your computer. Select the US1, US2 and US3 "drive control tool" as shown below. After you run this tool, download and install the driver appropriate, as reported by the tool to your computer.

My OS is Windows XP Sp3 IE is OEM. I downloaded Google Chrome recently. I upgraded to IE8 to IE9; that had problems. Having to constantly install security updates, etc. So, I downloaded Google Chrome 9; that I had no problem with him. I used Firefox with Facebook and liked its functions. Now, I've updated my Yahoo! e-mail that recommends Firefox 3.6 for the optimization of Yahoo! I want that FIREFOX 3.6 at my PRIMARY and ONLY browser. Can I safely uninstall Internet Explorer 9 and Google Chrome 9 of my Windows XP Sp3?
It is strongly advised to not uninstall IE as described in this article. You can uninstall Google Chrome if you want to.
To make Firefox default browser, see the instructions in this article.

With the help of dual boot OS, Windows XP SP3 / Ubuntu 10.04. Even Firefox v3.16.13. In windows, using the button display in the menu bar, I can't turn off the menu bar. You use Ubuntu, the same option is available in "display".
I used "subject: Config" before, but I'm very careful and document all changes. Any time I need to access the menu items, using windows, I just use alt = _.In versions of Firefox 3.6 you can hide the bar of menus under Windows and not Linux. In Firefox 4 beta current versions you can hide the Menu bar and have the greyish Firefox button instead and use F10 to temporarily show the Menu bar, so you need to wait or try the beta version .

Cannot be used at all on Windows XP SP3, IE8
Hello
The latest version of what I used was 6.1.999.130. I have this problem for a month. When I try to connect using my old MSN login it says "sorry, we did not recognize your connection details".
The latest version crashes after launch.
Windows XP SP3 32-bit
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702
I spent a month for this problem, but I couldn't. I installed several versions, and each of them was crushed except the version that I mentioned above, even if it generates a connection error. I reinstalled SP3 too.
Finally, the solution was running the command "netsh winsock reset" in the back of box and then reboot the PC.
