Re: Wireless LAN network has disappeared on my Satellite L655

Toshiba Satellite L655-1EM

My computer is unable to find wireless networks. It was working fine the other day, but does not work when you connect today. I tried FN & F8 but does nothing.

It does not show a wireless network card in Device Manager.

I tried to restore to a point when he worked last and nothing happened.

I even tried to download a driver later and it still does not work.

I would appreciate any suggestions or advice on what happened and how I can solve this problem.

Thank you.

> It does not show a wireless network card in Device Manager.
Which is really strange. Your laptop should have Realtek WLAN card inside.
Some unknown device is listed in Device Manager?

This you will find also on the Toshiba site:

I mean hidden SSID, MAC address filtering and so far. Maybe that's the problem.

    Thank you.

    Yes.

Routers and switches are different types of network devices.  Routers are "smart".  Switches direct network traffic between computers on a single network, while routers can act as the interface between two networks (for example, the Internet and your Local network). There are many explanatory pages on the Internet about it. Here'sa .

Actually, most "routers" sold for home use today incorporate both a switch and a router (and in the case of "wireless routers" also incorporate a wireless access point). Routers include usually a (NAT ) network address translator, also a DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (), a proxy of domain name Service (DNS) server, and a hardware firewall to protect the local network from malicious intrusion on the Internet.

Your provider of Internet service through your cable modem, "sees" the WAN port of the router, as a computer (which is) generally configured to automatically obtain its IP address.  The ISP's DHCP server assigns this port the only IP address that is allowed to you.  It is an 'external' or 'public' IP address, and this is the address that other computers elsewhere on the Internet use when they drive traffic to you.

The router's built-in DHCP server assigns 'private' IP addresses for each of the computers connected to TI (no matter if they are connected by wire or wireless).  As a general rule, these are of the form 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x, where x goes from 1 to 254.  These IP addresses are not 'seen' by computers on the Internet.  Instead, the feature NAT on the router directs traffic to your public IP address to the correct of your internal computers (and vice versa).

A switch can't do it all.  If your authorized service provider, you can connect to your switch directly to your modem and the ISP's DHCP server assign an IP address publicseparate to each computer connected to the switch.  Because your ISP does not allow more than one public IP address from your account, its DHCP server assigns such address to the first computer he sees connected to the switch.  If several computers are then connected to the switch, the ISP's DHCP server simply ignores them: too bad, computer #2, you do not get an address, and so you can't connect to the Internet.

  • Wireless adapter has disappeared on my Satellite C660-22V

Hi, I am very well to this new and have knowledge on this SUBJECT.

The situation is, my computer had a problem turning on and the opportunity to restore to a previous point in time, that I continued with. After the completion of this and that the computer opens completely, the wireless adapter is no longer meet!

I tried to look in the network and sharing Center, there is no option for a wireless adapter, only one ethernet adapter unplugged.

I also looked in the Device Manager and I cannot find any mention of the wireless adapter, I expected to be there with a yellow icon, that means a driver problem, but it is not there at all!

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C660-22V

    Thank you!
    Tom

    > I also looked in the Device Manager and I cannot find any mention of the wireless adapter, I expected to be there with a yellow icon, that means a driver problem, but it is not there at all!

What devices appear in Device Manager under the category network cards?
    Is any unknown device visible?

To my knowledge, this Satellite C660-22V has been fitted with a 802.11(b/g/n) of Realtek RTL8188CE WLan card.

For installation of the driver Realtek RTL8188CE WLan should help to make it work (of course, just in case a missing driver would be the problem)

By the way: what system are you using?

  • Network has disappeared!

After years and years yesterday my Wi - fi network disappeared and what happened looks like it does default to an Airport Extreme network.

Airport utility does not see my base station. Somehow after hours of violin, I was able to get on the Internet with all my ipads and computers on this network. Problem is that it is not protected, so I tried to create a new network with a password. Who appeared, but who in fact also disappeared. Is my equipment owned?

Is in any way to put a password on this Apple network access that I have now?

Should I try to reset my airport extreme so the utility will be able to see?  Will that help to see?

It is also screwed to the top of my printer that somehow, I was also able to get running.

So my main concern is this:

The network that I use now is not secure.

    Help!

I don't think I explained that well. I now only a xxxxxxxxx of Apple network that use all computers and ipads, but there is no security.

When I made a new WiFi network with a password, the only computer that could see it was the I did it on. All others still only saw thw Apple network.

The utility Airport says he does not see any basic Station. I tried all the fixes I found except retetting Base station.

  • Satellite U840W - adapter LAN network simply disappeared.

I need to connect my laptop Satellite U840W via Ethernet and I can't find the LAN controller, it worked fine but it just disappeared from one day to the other.

I have download the drivers of many times but still nothing appears.
Any tips? Is it possible that the ethernet card may be broken?

    Thank you

    Hello

You mean the LAN controller isn't listed in Device Manager, not even as an Ethernet controller or an unknown device?

Hmm, looks like a malfunction of the LAN controller. But it's really hard to believe
    What is the BIOS?
You have default t it? Check this box

However before speaking with a technician, I recommend you to reset the computer laptop back to settings factory just to check if the same question of LAN appears using the preinstalled image of Toshiba.

  • Can not go to the Internet by Local and Wireless LAN network

I have a HP Pavilion dv6711TX laptop with Vista Home first. Everything works smooth and excellent for the year passes, however it could suddenly not going to the internet 3 days ago. In Device Manager, every material looks ok without problem and conflict. I tried to reset the router, laptop computer (disconnect the power supply and battery) reboot and tried to let Windows automatically diagnose and repair the problem, but so it does not solve the problem. He could find my wireless router and connected, but shows "undefined network." Is it a hardware problem or a software problem?  Help, please!

    Hi Peter,.

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

Go to the HP website and download the updated driver for your wireless card.  Install the driver to see if it will help you solve the problem.  If it doesn't, use an ethernet cable and connect directly to the modem to see if your connection is always good.
You can also search for known issues with your hardware from HP site.

  • wireless lan driver installation update always fail and the update corrupted my wireless driver I use Samsung series 5

Updates were recently fired the SW update. I have installed all the other updates the BIOS etc successfully, with the exception of the wireless Lan driver. Instead of doing an update, it has disabled my wireless totally when he said that the installation has failed.

During my first attempt, I downloaded the driver 100%. Then a pop up message appeared saying that "the installation may take several minutes", and then another Intel logo appears and disappears, but said later that he could not install. After that, I get disconnected from my internet connection. No sign of wireless activity were found. I tried to watch the wireless icon and it was gone. I tried to solve the problem and it says that the only device for my wireless connection is Bluetooth.

I thought it was just the problem of internet connectivity, so I tried to download the next day, but this time while being connected to a local network. The same thing happened to downloaded 100% and does not once again during installation. I just want you to know that I closed all applications and my laptop plugged in during installation if it helps your troubleshooting. I asked SAMSUNG support and they told me that the problem is with Microsoft, so I should ask them.

I tried to update for like 5 or more times, but it's the same thing. I use my laptop for work and it's like I can't live without my wireless LAN are not always available. Download of the update becomes tedious because I have to wait like half an hour to finish the download only to find out that the installation will fail. I searched his driver I can install it manually but its nowhere to be found, looks like I'm stuck with SW update

    Hello
My problem is a little trinkets.
When my Toshiba works with AC ADAPTER and it uses wireless lan, network connection is very fast, good Internet downloads, but if I only use the battery, the transfer is very slow, internet pages download in a very long time and wireless network try blink icon rarely.
So, to function normally again, I need to use AC ADAPTER again.
I usually use a ZYXEL router for internet connection, I try with another without result and a different society also router. NOTHING
    Someone can help me.
    Thanx. Tony
    [email protected]

    Hi Tony,.

I think that your problems are due to a utility that allows to get the maximum 'time place' battery of Toshiba power save. This is done by reducing power to some things that can drain the battery in their "full power" mode A common feature that most people notice, is that the screen is slightly lower under the power of the battery as the power supply. These energy savings are a feature and not a fault with the equipment, but the settings can be adjusted.

Enter the menu in the Toshiba Utilities program start and open Power Options. You will notice that there are a number of profiles 'factory' that you can choose to give default settings for different configurations, including one for the battery power. All parameters can be set here.

Once the settings have been changed, the wireless connection can run as fast as normal AC power, but the downside of this is that the battery may not last as long.

I hope this helps, let us know how you go!
