Reading of ink levels

I have a HP 1200 and a 2050 HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series printers. Both are all-in-one.

My old computer was using MS XP Home and I can get the tool boxes and read on both printers ink levels.

Now I have a newer computer (64 bits) using Windows 7 Home. After loading the two diskettes to install printer HP, programs which would work for reading ink levels or get a Toolbox is no longer working on it.  When I click on the icon of 2050, there is no line for checking ink levels as it was before on XP. I tried the (X 86) lifting printer HP programs my XP and their installation on 64-bit, but no dice - he said "invalid parameters".

Help printer screen says "Click START > programs > HP > HP Deskjet 2050 J510 > HP Deskjet 2050 J510 > Printer Actions > Maintenance tasks > printer Toolbox.  That now does not work on my computer - the last three steps/files (Actions printer > Maintenance tasks > printer Toolbox) just aren't here anymore!

OK I'm back - short trip.  I did what you say. I used their removal program to "unload" to remove all traces of files of the software of 2050.

Then I connected the printer and his drive to re - install the software. I then checked the printer icon. No matrix - only three choices to click on.  The old XP had eight choices; including "checking ink levels".

I then ran a program called "HP's Print and Scan Doctor" and everything was OK - I had marked the 2050 as the first printer.

So I ran a program called: 'Last print drivers' and everything was OK.

Then I studied DRIVE records and found two sets of .exe files box to tools. I well on a Memory Stick and DOWN them there on my computer. A set says "invalid parameters"; the other set showed a loading zone (a moving bar across the page, several times) who ran for a while and then simply stop (they work OK on XP).

All to no end.  I tell you it looks like in there are two sets of programs on the DISK; a X 86 and 64-bit. During installation, the computer automatically selects the program aprppriate to your computer (in my case 64 bit). Looks like HP has abbreviated the 64-bit program and the PROGRAM HP DESKJET 2050 J510 HELP VIEWER shows the different paths to the "ink levels" available in the software I just installed (but it's OK for XP).

So here I am, where I started - and I have to get my old XP to read the ink levels on the 1200 and 2050 to return. I don't really mind. I want to wipe the dust it and still get use out of it because I have the disconnected from the Internet due to no other Microsoft technical support.

Thanks anyway, Lt col.

This application displays the ink from the printer as being complete however; the ink printer display window icon displays the printer as being low on ink.  Tried to restart the printer and restart the computer but the problem persists.

    Welcome @Sistafatti,

Thanks to their participation in Forums of HP! I see by your post that the ink levels are not the same. I will definitely do my best to help you.

I would check the ink levels in the printer for a more accurate reading: check ink or Toner levels. Go check in the printer control panel menu. Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning only.

If the printer is on a network, check the ink levels of: the printer Web server integrated. Simply type the IP address of the printer in the web browser Internet Explorer.

  • HP deskjet 920C: deskjet 920C in Toolbox ink levels

As I changed again to a new computer with Windows 8.1 my printer works fine, BUT I can't figure out how to find my ink level as I have in the Toolbox of the printer on my old computer with Windows XP.  Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums @6sckn,.

I read your post on how you can access is more the Toolbox of the printer after now using another computer running Windows 8.1 and wanted to tender hand. Why you can't access the box tools any longer, it is because there is no complete driver available with the 920C on Windows Deskjet 8.1, as it was with Windows XP. You can still continue to check levels of low ink in the printer (below image from the user manual).

  • message on Dell V305 low ink level

I recently put a new cartridge in my Dell V305 printer color, but it keep telling me that the color ink levels are low, and I need to change it. How can I change the level of ink estiamted to read correctly?

These new cartridges, or are they filled with 'Dell Compatible' ones? If they are something like HP refills, they don't reset the printer to recognize the cartridges as complete.
Have you tried to contact where you bought it to see if it is possibly a faulty cartridge?

  • Screen line is missing, cut through the ink levels. Office Jet 6500, 709

Does anyone know how to fix the contrast on my front screen where it shows the ink levels, time? Two lines disappeared shortly after I got this printer and it is sometimes difficult to read ink levels when the level is just where these two lines are missing. These two missing LCD lines go all the way across the screen from left to right. Thanks for any help.

Looks like the LCD screen is broken.  It is really not that you can do to solve this problem.  Really only three things I can think might fix.  One is an update of the firmware.  To get/check the firmware, click on this link, select your operating system, click Next, under step two click firmware in firmware, click the link and on the next page, click Download.  Run the utility that downloads and it will check the firmware and allow you to update if it's outdated.

If the firmware doesn't fix it, the next step is going to be a hard reset.  Just, a hard reset Erases RAM on the printer, but retains all of the user settings.

    To do a hard reset:

    1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
    2. Pull out the power cord from the printer.
    3. Pull out the power cord from the wall.
    4. Wait 30 seconds.
    5. Plug everything high and trun on the printer.

If the hard reset does not work, the next thing to try is a partial reset.  A partail reset will reset all the settings of the printer and return the printer to factory setting.

    To make a partial reset:

    1. Follow steps 1 through 4 above, but will not go past step 4.
    2. Plug the power cord into the wall, but connect are not in the printer.
    3. Press and hold the # and 3 buttons.
    4. While maintaining the 3 and # buttons, taken the printer back in.
    5. When you see lights up, release the buttons.

If the partial reset doesn't fix it, it won't be fixed.  I'm sorry.

  • DeskJet 1000 J110 stopped check ink levels

    Hello

    I have a Deskjet 1000 J110 and I am running Windows 7.

The HP software used to allow me to check the ink levels, now he doesn't. I checked no more than 3 weeks without problem. Now, when I tried to check them, the option simply wasn't there. I don't know, but I think that the shortcut on the menu HP folder go the Control Panel Printers folder and not the HP software as it used to.

Someone has an idea of what could be the problem?

    See you soon!

    Hi seileach,.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I read your post and to see that the Printer Wizard is not open to view ink levels when you click on the shortcut of the printer.
I'll be happy to help you.

Try to go to start, all programs, HP Deskjet 1000 J110, and then click the J110 Deskjet 1000 again to see if the printer wizard will now open in this way.

If this isn't the case, then most likely the driver is damaged. I uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

    Uninstalling the printer software.

    HP Deskjet 1000 printer - J110a drivers.

Select your operating system, click Next and click on the software to download and install.

Now try and access the Printer Wizard.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a wonderful day!

  • DeskJet f4480 won't read new ink cartridge

I end new yesterday, hp ink cartridges the printer will read that black very well, it will NOT read the color. I just get a message saying that my ink level is low, and it will not be printed. the store won't refund my money or give me a new cartridge because it is open. I can't buy a new one.

What can I do to make the printer see he is a new cartridge and it has actually ink inside?

There are several solutions available in this article I would recommend to exercise:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00864517

This may be a problem with the contacts for transport does not properly communicate with the cartridge. Also, make sure that the protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.

Beyond the steps in this article, if you still experience the problem, I would recommend contact HP telephone support. Here you will find the contact information for the North America:
