Ready Boost tab missing

I wanted to ask that I have a microsoft 64-bit windows 7 build 7600

and I used to use the ready boost with windows 7 but now when I plug it and go in properties I do not see the ready boost tab and the Autoplay menu does

Here are two nice writeups of Microsoft with several troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • How to use Ready Boost, and what are the requirements for the use of portable hard drives and flash drives for use with Ready Boost?

I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition and try to get Ready Boost to work on my PC using portable hard drives or flash drives. I have 2 portable hard drives (iomega 120gig, Seagate 250gig) and a 8gig sandisk cruzer flash drive. All this deterioration when you try to use the ready boost said that these discs only are not compatible or not supported. So what do I need?

Not all readers will work with ReadyBoost. There are some readers who actually will specify that they are capable of ReadyBoost.

    By WikiPedia:

    • The device should have an access time of 1ms or less.
    • The device must be capable of 2.5 MB/s for 4 KB random read speeds indicates the spread uniformly across the entire device and 1.75 MB/s write for 512 speed random writes spread uniformly across the device.

You must also put the device and let it plugged in for ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost is therefore best suited for a small thumbdrive (up to 4 GB) that greater thumbdrive or external HD that you would probably be disconnect from time to time.

Open solutions Explorer window, find your Cruzer - right-click on it and click Properties. If there is a ReadyBoost tab, you can set up - set it to dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. It will be implemented and save a file on the USB key. Click Apply and're you good to go.

A caveat which I can testify first-hand. Apparently while booting, Win 7 has trouble with some USB key - it will search the thumbdrive, the operating system, the process of starting to stall and you say: ' Missing Operating System ' - Fortunately the solution is very easy. Shut down the computer, remove the USB key, restart the computer and it will start normally. I had this happen with a 8 GB Cruzer. This seems to be a random thing, because I had the Cruzer plugged in and booted several times without encountering the error of missing operating system message. No idea why or why it is injury. Currently, I use a Kodak USB 2 gig key that seems to work very well.

  • I have questions about Ready Boost.

It seems that I should be able to expand my RAM, with a USB key. When I try to activate it, I said it is already in use and can not use it on this USB key. The laptop is used, then maybe the old user installed on the hard disk. How can I be sure, he is not corrupt, or simply delete it, so I can install it on my own disk?

After that I have submitted ^ that ^, I went back to the USB and tried to start over. Unplug the unit and plug it back and get the options box should and went to "speed up my computer" (or similar words). When I got the tabs for "Ready Boost" box, I started to look at the different tabs. I saw one for the description of the disc, and it looked as if it was completely empty. Ok. I saw an option to test compatibility; I ran the test. Ok. I saw an option to completely erase the disk. I think that might have been the key I was looking for; part of the 'available' space was not the case. So, I did a wipe and got 100% disk space, all available for this purpose. Now, I should be able to get what I want. If this does not work, I'll be back.

    Hello

I have a toshiba Satellite L650/0ed, it's good if I use more than one drive 8 GB flash for "ready boost" - what is the maximum number of using flash-drives can devote to the "ready-boost.

In addition, if I use a 16 gb flash drive, will this affect more memory "ready boost".

    Hi mate

Please check this Microsoft page that describes the ReadyBosst
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/ReadyBoost

There, you can find this statement:
+ ReadyBoost works with storage devices more flash. In Windows 7, it can handle more memory and even multiple devices * eight *, for a maximum of 256 GB of additional memory. +

I hope this can be useful!

  • Satellite P300 - 18 M - use the card reader for Vista Ready Boost OK?

    Hello

I have a P300 - 18M, and due to get a new phone, have a spare Micro SD 8 GB card.
I put it in the card reader, and I currently use it for Ready Boost, even though I have 3 GB of RAM, there is certainly a performance gain...

However, no one knows if this could endanger the card reader? (IE damage it in any way) to be used all the time?

    Thank you

    Jack

Hmm. I wonder about the 8 GB card Micro SD.
As far as I know and according to some details in the internet, Satellite P300 supports the microSD (with adapter) 512 MB to 4 GB.
Usually the laptop card reader s should recognize either large 4 GB microSD cards.

However I doubt it might affect the functionality of the card reader in the worst case that the 8 GB microSD card will not be recognized by the card reader

I have a 8 GB USB flash drive, and I've been using ~ 4 GB for Ready Boost for quite a while now. When I tried to write something on the drive recently, I get a message saying that it is write protected. I tried to change the size of the cache, but has nothing - no error and no change. Tried turning off RB for the drive and nothing. There is no protection switch on the drive, so nothing to break. Hello

You can remove your usb flash drive write protection using the method below:
    a. open the start menu, in the search bar type regedit, and then press ENTER. This wil open the registry editor.
    b. navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
    Note:
If StorageDevicePolicies registry key does not exist, you must create it manually.
    c. highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a new DWORD called WriteProtect (32-bit).
    d. double-click the registration key in the right window, and then set it to a value of 0 in the value data box
    e. press OK
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. • Windows Ready Boost

I bought a Cruzer 16 GB USB to be able to use Windows ready boost. It worked the first two times that I've used. Now when I insert, I have no possibility to use the ready boost. Help?

Here is an article on how to enable Ready boost for vista: http://www.windowvistarepair.com/articles/Enable_Ready_Boost_for_Windows_Vista.html.

Here is a good article on how to use Ready Boost (with links to related topics):http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81381-readyboost.html.

Read what the above to understand the product and how to install, configure, troubleshoot and use it.  This will give you the background you need to solve the problem.

Once done, then install Ready Boost and the USB key as if it were the first time (format the drive if you can unless you have data on it, you do not want to lose and don't want to take the time to move elsewhere to do the formatting, and then move it back once Ready Boost works again).

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I recover my original data files on my 8 GB USB Drive, I used to run Ready Boost.

My laptop has Vista Home Premium.
Using the option "speed up my system" when I logged on my 8 GB Transcend USB, I've probably activated Ready Boost.
The USB was about 3.7 GB of data valuable personal (user - excel, word, jpg etc. files) also, but they are not visible or accessible more.
However, the USB shows through properties, 3.70 GB of used space.
Even after going to Option, properties of the removable disk, ReadyBoost, do not use this device, I'm not able to recover my original files.
    Help, please.

You can try to recover the data with data recovery software. If this does not work, the only other option is to send the drive to a professional data, which is quite expensive recovery company. Only you can decide how your "valuable personal data" are interesting. And it's one of the reasons why we do not use USB thumb as succession only permanent drives.

    Data recovery software:

    R - Studio - http://www.r-tt.com/
    Recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Professional data recovery - I use Drive Savers for my clients, but there are others. General prices run $500-$ 3 700 with an average of about $2,700. I understand that some insurance companies now cover the cost data recovery so check with your insurer.
