  In oracle 11g 2 ADVM there (ASM Dynamic Volume manager) is there, if I do 50 GB to 1 TB of disk group advm. I want to know whether or not 50 GB of dynamic volume will use the oracle db files.

  Scroll the diagram illustrating where ADVM resides in the s/w stack.

  Why ADVM?

  ASM does not only storage for Oracle databases - but also for any other application 3rd party support. The latter is done via ACFS - a cluster file system. This is equivalent to OCFS and Red Hat GFS and so on.

  A volume manager is used to manage in such volumes of file system. Linux has a default called LVMvolume manager.

  ADVM is a manager of volume specifically for the treatment and integration with the underlying storage ASM system.

  You would usually not use ADVM for ASM starts used by Oracle databases (Oracle databases to interface directly with ASM starts and do not need a file system interface).

  You can for example use ADVM to manage a cluster for a mySQL database file system - and custom failover allows to switch the database to another current node stops working (as the volume of cluster file that contains the database files will be available on the other nodes in the cluster).

  What I was asking is if Adobe Media Encoder supplied with Premiere Pro (or another such program with more features than the first Elements 7 encoder) would work better?   For example, I noticed these programs have options such as 256 Kbps audio, 2-pass bit rate Variable (which seems not to have PE7).  To provide the best quality?  Of course, I need the best possible.

  Also, I read the suggestions various others that FLV is a better choice than h264 export as less recoding of Youtube is over - any truth to that?

  Finally, is exporting to 1080 instead of 720 (and therefore giving youtube users to choose either 1080 or 720) be better in the long run, or is there a reason why 720 is suggested?

  My videos are short and have been published from the vob DVD files.  I'm very new to encoding so really appreciate suggestions!

  There is no real advantage to the use of the Media Encoder. The files will have the same appearance.

  As long as your project settings match your video source, output parameters should give you excellent quality on YouTube. All the best, actually.

  It doesn't matter if you use MP4s or FLV files. YouTube goes even YouTube-ify it.

• How can I know for ASM disks real directory path

  Hello everyone, I am a novice using definitions of ASM and I need to know where all the data are stored in the operating system storage devices, but I don't know where it is exactly.
  
  Certain search queries, I found:
  
  Select GROUP_NUMBER, DISK_NUMBER, MODE_STATUS, STATE, NAME, path in v$ asm_disk
  
  And I realized that it is displayed in the path column, but in the examples, it shows normal IF the linux as path: ' / asm1/storage/datafile1_asm.20001.41010'
  
  Run the same query pending ASM the PATH column to show something like: "ORCL:PROD1_DATA30."
  
  So, does that mean? I don't see any path or similar. I thought that it was a directory of database, but looking in DB instance that is not exist.

  To find your disk/OS, you can run this command as root:

  asmdsk=`(cd /dev/oracleasm/disks/ && ls *  | awk '{ ORS=" "; print; }')`
  /etc/init.d/oracleasm querydisk -p $asmdsk |grep LABEL |awk '{print $1,$2}'
  
  e.g (on my env)
  # asmdsk=`(cd /dev/oracleasm/disks/ && ls *  | awk '{ ORS=" "; print; }')`
  # /etc/init.d/oracleasm querydisk -p $asmdsk |grep LABEL |awk '{print $1,$2}'
  /dev/sdb1: LABEL="DATA01"
  /dev/sdd1: LABEL="DATA02"
  /dev/sdh1: LABEL="DATA03"

  We come to the option "create the ASM disk group" when he is not able to uncover disks for ASM default group. tried to use the trails of discovery of mutation ' / dev/rdsk / *', but of no use. OS on both nodes shows the disks are available using the format and and has created a system of files on them to rule out the possibility that something wrong with the LUN.
  Could not find anything in the instruction manuals.

  They are good examples to configure RAC

  In your example: you will only use ASM for DATDISK and OFRDISK.

  I have all my drives configured in RAID 10 and I have 11g THAT RAC installed. I uninstalled RAC and database and then added the required RPM (ASM library and drivers).
  
  Successfully installed the RAC and then proceeds to installation and configuration of 11gDB for ASM using the available disk space.
  
  Is this possible? I get the error message: 11g DB intalled on RAC1 ASM cannot be used until the Oracle CSS service is started.

  You get this because CSS is not started, and ASM, it needs.

  As root, go in $ORACLE_HOME/bin and run:
  #. / Add a localconfig

  Of Webcenter 11.1.1.8, Webcenter spaces has been merged to the Webcenter portal. In gross terms, you can do development of portal within a space.

  Having said that you can still have the old plain custom portal, but the above is the way to move forward. It might take time to get used to!

  Nothing necessary at the top of the ACF. He will manage by oracle itself as ASM.

  I have a table of facts with 5 different dates as the shipping date, the order date.
  My question is
  Case 1. in fact, table I store date_keys (substitution integers) and create several date dimensions (alas) for each type of date as a date_dimension alias for the shipping date, an alias for the date of the order etc (in the model of declaration).
  
  Case 2: I just avoid using the date and just store date dimension (no integers) in fact table.
  In this way I will save 5 joints in 5 dimensions of different date.
  Note: I have need of these 5 participates in the declaration of model that will be used to create reports, not in the model ETL in dimension model ETL that one date will be there, but we must create on alias the dimension date for each type of report date.

  It is more a question of design/statement of a question of ETL/ODI;).

  The advantage of the dimension is that you can select or aggregate data by year, weekends, quarter, month, day of the week...
  If you only keep the date, you had all these complexes of the formula in logic or calculated items columns (assuming you are using OBIEE). Performances will be affected and the code will be duplicated in many places.
