  What is the best way to create a realistic spread like the one below (shadow, 3D look real) out of an evenly distributed jpg exported to an indesign file? I can't believe these pages are printed, and re-turned on a mannequin magazine? Is there an indesign or Photoshop script to process JPEG images accordingly?

  I did a screen shot, adding an effect gradient in Photoshop (clear grey white - gray darker for the trick - for the highest point - gray, once again), copied in Illustrator and applied the distortion of the envelope-> string mesh, using 8 columns and one line. Then I moved some columns vertically. I guess the next step would be to copy it in PS for the finalisation (may cheat, sticky on top a real image of the magazine).

  Since the middle of this week, the described method no longer works. I understand, now I have to allow rc4 again, by changing "security.ssl3.rsa_rc4_128_sha" to true. I don't know if the error is due to firefox or google/youtube. I meen why google would downgrade to only allow a non secure encryption method? On the other hand: there are updates in firefox affecting the rc4?

  So my questions are: which side is the bug? And is there no workaround safe solution to ban rc4 once again, while using youtube?

  It is a problem with the server that hosts the video files and Google has chosen to only support what a costume (speed issues?) figure even if the server supports TLS 1.2 according to the test report, but I don't know if that makes a difference instead of using SSL3.

  It's a bit awkward question I know, but how do for example 30mm on a rule of 30mm in photoshop. What are the settings, what resolution, what is the zoom percentage should I apply. (my screen resolution is 1440 x 900 monitor 19 '')

  So that the image that will be presented in such a way that an inch on your monitor correspond to one inch in the image, you must first determine the resolution of your screen. Here's how:

  1. open a new file: 500 px of width and depth.

  2 see 100% of the size.

  3. use a rule. Measure the width of the image to the screen in inches.

  4 divide 500 by the width of the screen image.

  Result: Resolution of the screen in pixels per inch.

  Next:

  Define your image at this resolution by going to:

  Image > Image size

  Enter the size of the Document screen resolution: resolution field

  I just ordered Studio 15 laptop with the wuxga display. It has not yet been shipped. After reading the messages/comments on the internet, I have my doubts on the monitor. I ordered it because I have photo editing but am concerned that police/text size will be too difficult to read and the glossy screen will cause eye fatigue. Any thoughts?

  I just got this printer in place and have no problem printing images downloaded from the web, but when I print pictures from my digital camera that have been saved to a network share they are saturated and look downright shoddy.  I found that there is a button named digital photography of real life that has options for automatic lighting Adaptive of the red-eye effect, picture brightening in the paper/quality, the printer properties tab, Smart focus, sharpness and softness.  If I turn these options off photos Print perfectly.  The problem is that they turn their back on after each print job.  I tried to turn them off when you are using the default printer, but it doesn't appear to.

  How can I disable them for good?

  HI - usually if you go to Panel and printers and change the settings there, rather than in the application you print from, settings will be preserved.

  Why do it yourself if it already exists? Have you looked at the analytical module of the webcenter?
  It has all the reports you are talking out of the box... The analytical engine puts this information in the database, so you can write your own reports.   With my old laptop to windows, I always left it plugged in with the battery installed and killed slow charge/discharge cycle the same battery if we rairly used the laptop off the coast of the plug.  It is this always true with my "new" laptop (I just brought home, but realize it's a low-end computer)?  I know that Mac do not have this problem.  Given the choice, I prefer to leave the battery in the random Quick disconnect and move, but don't want to kill the battery.  Thoughts?

• How to make the Portal look better?

  Hey all. Yesterday, is literally my first day using After Effects, so I'm still a * great * noob. I made this today - it is supposed to be a portal of Portal 2, a bullet from a portal gun in the first person. I'm not really happy with the way it turned out however. Any suggestions? And Yes, I know that it would be probably better if I used one device other than the one built into my phone. At the present time although my phone is all I have, so I'm sure at the moment.

• Battery life issue

  Hi, first of all, Hello and hope to participate in many discussions in the future.

  I'm looking to get my first Mac soon. This will be a Mac Book Pro with 2.53 GHz, 4 GB Ram and 500 GB HARD drive

  My main job is a MS RAD Developer and so need to be able to Access/Excel VBA development and .net in Visual Studio (mainly the VBA) will run Vista for now, unless I can find my XP disks.

  I read a lot on the internet about VMware Fusion, but no figure of real life battery and I was wondering if all current users are using windows to do the above. If you do how to find you and the big question before I spend money on the Mac, that's what kind of battery life could I expect everything using Fusion for development.

  I understand there will be variables that will affect the battery life, I am really after a ball park figure.

  You will certainly more than two hours of a new battery.  Assuming that not cut you video with iMovie at coding anyway

  After a year or more tho (at least with the old batteries) is when things start to deteriorate.  The new Macs with internal batteries have not released for more than a year (the 17 is a bit longer than others, but they have a different battery then other models in any case), so you won't find real-life stories on this point, however.

  My old MBP does like 45 minutes, and it's from 2006.  Certainly it's an old battery technology, it was brand new, just for comparison of 4 hours.

• Web site help: implementation of a portlet context sensitivity?

  We are devleoping serveral "portlets" which will take place in a portal and I'm creating Web Help Center for assistance, but I don't know what to tell the developers to make in order to link the pages specific to the help button on individual portlets. Y at - it a way for them to implement different web applications or Windows programs? I have read a few conceptual orientations, but looking for someone who has actually done this work in real life.

  There are a few topics on my site on call webhelp that should help you.

  You surprise me a little bit by saying ' is there a way for them to implement that differs from web applications or Windows programs? The portal is a web application.

  In my opinion the easiest way is for them to call your headings using the URL with the startpage.htm#path/target_topic.htm format as described in one of the topics. If the naming of your files is clear, they should be able to work out what to link to. If this isn't the case, establish a simple mapping document that lists the forms of developers and your subjects.

  Hope it's a no-brainer.

  My iCloud says I have 10.5 MB of documents stored in it. I have no idea what are these documents and I would like to know.

  

  When I click on the button manage on the right I just get this. Which tell me what are the 10.5 MB of documents.

  

  When I go to Finder > sidebar > iCloud drive I get this, which leaves me also any the wiser about what are these 10.5 MB of documents.

  

  When I connect directly to www.icloud.com, he confirmed I have 10.5 MB of documents stored in iCloud. But even once it gives me absolutely no way of actually looking at these documents that I know what they are.

  10 MB is not, it may be an empty database or empty folders, it's really not worth worrying.
