reallocate ram windows xp 32-bit

I have windows xp 32-bit and install 4 GB of ram. He acknowledges only 2.99 GB. How can I reallocate the other 1 GB for my graphics?

Your video card should automatically share some amount of RAM of the system it is supposed to use.

32-bit versions of Windows have a maximum address space of 4 GB less than a byte.  However, part of this address space is used for different hardware devices.  So, even if you have 4 GB of physical RAM, only about 3 GB of RAM (more or less) is available for use.

  • 6 GB of RAM, Windows 7 64 - bit said that only 3 GB is available

just bought new ram for desktop and 2gm today. my computer have 6 GB of ram now, but in the index shows page windows ' 6gm ram (usable 3.18).»

    My system specs are
    Win 7 pro 32-bit n
    Core i3-540
    NVIDIA geForce 210
    Intel H57
    Biso: 6.14

A 32-bit operating system cannot address more than 4 GB of memory. With system reserved 3.18 GB used is normal for a 32-bit system.
To use the 6 GB of memory, you must install a 64-bit version of windows. Otherwise the additional 2 GB is wasted.
  • HP Elite 8200 SFF 8 GB RAM: Windows 10 64 - bit - upgrade Win7 to Win10 on HP Elite 8200 SFF - future drivers to win 10 64-bit?

I've upgraded 3 computers (portable and desktop computers) to WIN 10 since the launch and made part of the Windows program initiated for 8 months - (identify problems with NVIDIA drivers, etc.). All of the family's computers have upgraded with minimum agitation outside HP Elite 8200 SFF - core i5 vpro.

Be aware that this PC passes all diagnostics equipment and a new hard drive and compatible memory and work 100% without error on Win 7 Home - motherboard and processor are out of the box, two weeks ago. The PC has been reset to Win 7 since.

After installation, there was a lot of blue screens including: -.

    Memory management errors

    Bad pool header error

Several internet queries (probably from Microsoft OneDrive store)

I understand that this machine has not been tested as part of a verification of the compatibility of HP / Microsoft.

My question is: there will be updates on the site of HP driver Support in the near future to include 64-bit Windows machines concerned 10 drivers? Or links included for Intel Chipset drivers when they are available to Win10?

    At any time.

I am pleased to have been of assistance.

Maybe try again before the end of the free period.

It is possible that they will have worked on bugs and the most up-to-date version at W10.

Who knows, it might even be the integrated graphics Intel W10 driver that is buggy.

  • Satellite C660 - Windows 7 64 bit BSOD after upgrade RAM

    Hi guys

    my laptop Specs: Satellite C660-1JG
    -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500
    -2048 MB of RAM DDR3 (800 MHz).

recently I increase my RAM to 4 GB (2 + 2 GB), since its installation, as soon windows7 64 bit beginning of loading, finished with BSOD. load BSOD Windows sometimes very well, but in a minute or two appears. I can confirm that it does not read the total RAM of 4 GB, I checked while the laptop was about 2 to 3 minutes ON. then I go out 1 RAM stick laptop is fine, no BSOD!

so question raises if the RAM is at fault, incompatibility etc, but I have the dual boot OS and other OS is Ubuntu 11. who reads the 3.84 GB RAM and without crashing or BSOD or any question.

Then I installed Windos 7 32 bit to see if that still has problems with 4 GB of RAM, but NO, 32 bit reads RAM 4 GB (usable 2.8 GB). without crashing or BSOD with 32, only problem with windows 64-bit version!
I checked the specification it says Max RAM 4 GB Ram and yes it supports 4 GB RAM with Linux and win7 32-bit.

I tried to update BIOS version 1.20 (currently on 1.40), but still got error: Firmware has no support of Flash (AFUWINGUI).
I was wondering if any of you can guide me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

I can't say for sure, but perhaps BSOD due to a compatibility issue.
What RAM you bought as add-on (brand and specification)?

  • Satellite Pro A100-830 - can only use 3 GB of RAM under Windows 7 64-bit

    Hello

I just upgraded my laptop Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 and also improved my ram to 4GB (2x2GB)

Windows is to see all 4 GB but says only 3 GB is usable, because it is a 64-bit version of Windows wouldn't be able to use all the 4 GB?

    Any help appreciated

    Thank you

    Intel Core2Duo T7200 2.0 GHz
    RAM DDR2 677 MHz 4 GB
    ATI Radeon Mobility X 1600

    Hello

Have you already checked the BIOS? How much RAM show the BIOS?
And what kind of modules you have exactly?

Normally, it should be possible to use full 4 GB of RAM on a 64 bit OS as your laptop also supports 4 GB.

Maybe you should also try updating the chipset driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite L750D - can't access 4 GB of RAM under Windows 7 64-bit

I recently bought a Satellite L750D/009 with 4 GB of RAM. Have installed Windows 7 64 - bit OS but panel shows that only 3.47 GB of RAM is usable. I expect this from a 32 bit OS but I'm * definitely * running 64-bit OS.

    Can someone explain this?

    Hey,.

Are the whole 4 GB of RAM in BIOS? If Yes, everything is ok.

I think that the rest of the memory will be used for graphics card graphics memory so it of normal. This will be controlled automatically so n t you worry about this.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE6) - RAM on Windows 7 32 bit upgrade

I have a Satellite A200 (PSAE6) and I wanted to put more 2 GB of RAM, but tell me the Windows 7 Ultimate 32 recognizes only 1 GB means a total of 3 GB.

    Is this true?

    Hello

Usually the OS 32-bit Windows recognizes ONLY 3.2 GB of RAM due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
Therefore, you cannot use 4 GB of RAM with Windows OS 32-bit (Win XP, Vista, Win 7).

But the upgrade to 4 GB RAM also depends on the chipset and BIOS.
If both parties (BIOS and chipset) are not 4 GB RAM capable then you would not be able to use 4 GB of RAM, even using the 64 bit OS.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A500 - only 2.96 GB RAM available on Windows 7 32 bit

    Hello
I use Windows 7 on a Satellite A500, and when I go into the properties of computers, she says only 2.96 GB of RAM is available.

I use the 32-bit version of windows 7, but I thought the RAM limit in 32-bit 4 GB... ?

Why all my RAM is not available?

    Thank you.

    Hello

The maximum capacity of RAM can be used on * all * 32 bit OS is 3.2 GB of RAM. It of not possible to use all 4GB RAM you have.

I guess everything's ok. Don t forget that memory will also be shared with the video RAM. So, I think that your laptop uses the missing ability to RAM for the graphics card.

  • Should I install windows 7 64 bit on Ideapad Z460 with 2 GB ram?

    Hello world!

I use Ideapad Z460. Chipset: Core i3 M380, 2 gig of ram. I use windows 7 x 86 (32 bit). Should I upgrade to the 64 bit version of windows 7? And my computer runs faster after the upgrade?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your comment!

Already, I have installed windows 7 64-bit. It works very well. Specifically, I think it's really faster when I install applications. I use as a 4 GB USB DRIVE for readyboost.

  • Windows 7 64 bit is no longer reconising any RAM

    Hello

I recently got a Lenovo T510i. He got a Core i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM and a dedicated card nVidia NVS 3100 gfx with 512 MB of RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running. When I got a week ago, he was using all 8 GB of RAM. Having brought to work after a week off and join it to the domain, I noticed that Windows is now saying that 3.92 GB of RAM can be used.

This is the first time I looked at him since the laptop and so don't know when this change occurred.

I tried to start by using the two Maximum memory option in msconfig turned on and off. When I enabled it and tells Windows to use all 8GB, he used only 2.99 GB after rebooting. When turned off, it uses 3.92 GB.

I tried to go into the BIOS and enable the memory remapping feature, but this option is not the in there.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

I decided to download the update of the BIOS again and install it. Well, obviously, I could have updated with the previous wrong version once I've had the laptop and after update now, I 7,86 GB usable. Not sure what happened to the remaining 150 MB, but I can live without it for now.

Thank you for having responded so.

going to use a HARD drive of 1 TB SATA 6GBS as a secondary system to run older games. wondered if the windows XP 32-bit system would operate properly with 8-16 GB of ram DDR3.  I don't mind that most of it would be unused using XP since it's just for older games are not compatible with Windows 7
